ALPINE - Linda L. Coleman, 53, of Alpine died Thursday, May 10, 2001, at her residence.

Services are pending with Geeslin Funeral Home.

Henry Gerety

ODESSA - Henry P. Gerety, 70, of Odessa, a superintendent for Bellows Systems, died Saturday, April 14, 2001, in a local hospital.

A viewing will be from 1 to 3 p.m. today in the Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. Arrangements by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

He was born in Philadelphia Pa., and lived in Odessa since 1986. He was Catholic.

SURVIVORS: Wife, Delores Gerety of Odessa; sons, Michael Gerety of Reading, Pa., Patrick Gerety of Hummelston, Pa., Joseph Gerety of Reading, Pa., Daniel Gerety of Madison, Wis., and Shawn Gerety of Lancaster, Pa.; sister, Marie Gruber of Chestertown, Md.; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Marcelino Martinez

ODESSA - Marcelino Martinez, 85, of Odessa, a retired taxidermist, died Saturday, April 14, 2001, at his residence.

A rosary service will be at 7 p.m. today at St. Elizabeth Ann Seaton Catholic Church. Mass will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Ann Seaton Catholic Church with the Rev. Mark Woodruff officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.

He lived in Odessa since 1955. He was Catholic.

SURVIVORS: Wife, Juanita Martinez of Odessa; daughters, Nellie Zuniga of Anaheim, Calif., Tillie Trevenio of Dallas; Cira Paz and Rita Perez. both of Odessa; sister, Angela Morales of Van Horn; 15 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

Clifton Pearce

ALPINE - Clifton Ross Pearce, 46, of Alpine, a doctor, died Friday, April 13, 2001, in Midland.

Services will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday at the Paisano Baptist Encampment. Burial will follow at Elm Grove cemetery. Arrangements by Geeslin Funeral Home.

He was born in Edinburg, Texas. He was an Army veteran. He was Baptist.

SURVIVORS: Wife, Shirley Carter Pearce of Alpine; sons, Doc Allan Pearce and Allan Ross Pearce, both of Alpine; daughter, Elena Marie Pearce of Alpine; parents, Allan Ray and Thelma Jean Atwood Pearce of Alpine; brother, Terry Allan Pearce; and sisters, Ellen Leigh Pearce Schwab and Katherine Ann Pearce Hubbard.

Bob Petree

STANTON - Bob Petree, 70, of Stanton, an El Paso Natural Gas repairman, died Friday, April 13, 2001, in Wills Point.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, at First Baptist Church in Stanton with the Rev. David Harper officiating. Graveside Services will be at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at Potosi cemetery in Potosi, Texas. Arrangements by Gilbreath Funeral Home.

He was born in Stanton. He was a Navy veteran. He was Baptist.

SURVIVORS: Wife, Betty Petree of Stanton; daughters, Pam Hoppe of Austin and Patti Briggs of Stanton; stepson, Wayne Elliot of Odessa; stepdaughters, Cindy Dodson and Charla Crawford, both of Odessa; brothers, Wayne Petree of Odessa and Maurice Petree of Houston; sister, Joyce Allen of Lubbock; three grandchildren; and five step-grandchildren.

Trevah Connor

ANDREWS - Trevah Conner, 48, of Andrews died Sunday, April 15, 2001, at Permian General Hospital in Andrews.

Services are pending with Boyer Funeral Home of Seminole.

Jean Robinson

MONAHANS - Jean Robinson, longtime Monahans resident, passed away Monday, April 16, 2001, at Ward Memorial Hospital in Monahans.

Jean was born Aug. 20, 1931, in Wichita Falls to Raymond and Judith Ellis. Jean married Dan D. Robinson Jan. 31, 1953, in Monahans. Dan preceded her in death July 22, 1985.

Jean was a very active, civic-minded person, serving her community in many areas. Jean was a three-year past president of the Desert Sands Garden Club, past two-year president of the Tau Lambda Study Club and president of the Episcopal Church Women’s Group.

Jean was preceded in death by two sons, Stephen Paul Robinson and Timothy Paul Robinson; a daughter, Nancye Kathryn Robinson; a brother, Kenneth Engebretson; and a sister, Joy Engebretson.

Jean is survived by a son, Paul Richard Robinson of Monahans; five brothers, Ronnie Ellis of Bedford, Lolan Ellis of Anaheim, Calif., Nolan Ellis of Castro Valley, Calif., David Madding of Ratan, Okla., and Tommy Engebretson of Aubrey; and three sisters, Lou Elam of Monahans, Jacqulyn Minor of Louisville and Sonja Engebretson of The Colony. Jean is also survived by three grandchildren, Kristen Elaine Robinson and James Austin Robinson of Greenwood and April Kahle of Midland.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 19, 2001, at St. James Episcopal Church in Monahans with Father Malcolm Slater officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Harkey Funeral Home.

Eleanor Giddens

CLEBURNE - Eleanor Giddens, 94, a retired school teacher, died Sunday, April 15, 2001, in Alvarado.

Funeral graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, April 19, 2001, at Rose Hill cemetery in Cleburne. Visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at Crosier-Pearson-Mayfield Funeral Home of Cleburne.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association and Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

Eleanor Giddens was born April 22, 1906, in Commerce and was a resident of Cleburne for 20 years. She received her masters of education degree from East Texas State University and taught third grade in Ector County, Bono, Lone Willow and Alvarado, Texas, public schools. She also served in the U.S. Army from 1944-45 and was a member of the Veteran Women’s Army Corps.

Survivors: Brother-in-law, Alfred Kennon Sr. of Cleburne; two nephews, Alfred Kennon Jr. of Dallas and Alan Kennon of Amarillo; and niece, Eleanor Moore of Austin.

Rev. Monsignor Kevin James Heyburn

SAN ANGELO - Rev. Monsignor Kevin James Heyburn, former pastor of St. Joseph Church in Rowena and St. Boniface Church in Olfen, passed from this life after a heart attack while reciting the rosary Monday, May 7, 2001, in San Antonio.

Monsignor Heyburn was born Aug. 10, 1922, in Burrow-in-Furness, Lancashire, England. He was the older of two sons born to Mary Margaret O’Sullivan Heyburn and James Heyburn.

He attended Catholic grade schools in New York, Missouri and Texas and graduated from St. Peter and St. Joseph School in San Antonio. He attended St. Anthony’s Seminary High School in San Antonio and graduated from Price High School Seminary in Amarillo in 1940.

Monsignor Heyburn’s college and theological education was completed at St. Louis Preparatory Seminary in St. Louis and St. John’s Seminary in San Antonio. He was ordained to the Catholic priesthood in San Antonio on May 27, 1948. His assignments included Sacred Heart Church in Amarillo, Holy Name Church in Happy, Our Lady of Lourdes in Andrews, Sacred Heart in Abilene, St. Joseph in Rowena, St. Ambrose in Wall, St. Mary’s in Odessa, St. Thomas in Miles and a second assignment as pastor of St. Joseph’s in Rowena. On Oct. 1, 1992, he retired as pastor but continued to serve the Rowena and Olfen communities until 1998 as the pastor emeritus when failing health required him to move to Padua Place, a retirement home for Catholic priests in San Antonio. Monsignor Heyburn also served five years on active duty as a chaplain in the U.S. Air Force.

Monsignor Heyburn served as vicar general of the Diocese of San Angelo from 1970 to 1979. He was in charge of the construction of Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Andrews in 1959 and Central Catholic High School in Abilene in 1963. He served as the director of Pro-Life Activities for the Diocese of San Angelo from 1976 until he moved to Padua Place.

Monsignor Heyburn is survived by John and Anne Heyburn, his younger brother and sister-in-law, and their four children, Kevin Heyburn of Austin, Maureen and David Myers of Richmond, Paul and Kristin Heyburn of Houston and Bridget and Brooke Williams of Dallas.

A vigil service with rosary will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 10, 2001, at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart with Monsignor Fred Nawarskas presiding. Bishop Michael Pfeifer, OMI, will be the celebrant and priests of the Diocese of San Angelo will concelebrate the Mass of Christian burial at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 11, 2001, at the Cathedral Church. Monsignor Timothy J. Murphy, vicar general of the Diocese, will be the homilist. Interment will follow at the priest section of Calvary cemetery.

Members of the Knights of Columbus Fourth Degree will serve as an honor guard for the vigil, throughout the evening and for the funeral Mass.

Jamie Klinke

ODESSA - Jamie Lee Ann Klinke, age 15, of Odessa went to be with God on Sunday, May 6, 2001, at her home.

She was born Feb. 5, 1986, in Tucson, Ariz. She came to Odessa in 1987, where she had been attending school. She was an eighth-grader at Hood Junior High. She was a member of Challenger Baseball League, hippo-horseback riding therapy, Camp Summit and dolphin therapy. She was a great fan of the Odessa Jackalopes hockey team.

Jamie was preceded in death by her grandfather, Donald Klinke, and great-grandmothers, Eva Klinke and Louise Augustine.

Survivors include her mother, Annette Klinke of Odessa; grandmother, Marie Hegemuller of Missouri; aunts, Cheryl Yates and husband Chris, and Donna Nolen and husband Mark of Midland; uncle, Les Klinke and wife Donna of Buena Park, Calif.; cousins, Daniel, Heather, Amber, Morrison and Ashley Stutts and Patrick Klinke, all of Midland, and Pamela and Donald Klinke of Buena Park, Calif.

Services were held at 5 p.m. Tuesday, May 8, 2001, at Temple Baptist Church with the Rev. Griffin Jones officiating. Burial followed at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Memorials can be directed to Permian Basin Rehabilitation Center.

The services were entrusted to Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.

Velma Rincon

ODESSA - Velma Rincon, age 93, of Odessa died Tuesday, May 8, 2001, at Medical Center Hospital. She was born Feb. 27, 1908, in Erath County to John and Euna Higginbotham.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 11, 2001, in Hico under the direction of Rutledge Funeral Home.

Mrs. Rincon grew up with her six brothers and two sisters near Hico. She was a retired insurance agent. In her work as an insurance agent for Rio Grande Insurance Co., she worked several years as a representative to the military in Germany and had the opportunity to travel in Europe. She was an avid traveler. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and a devoted Baptist and member of University Heights Baptist Church in Odessa.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Euna Price.

She is survived by her husband, Raul Rincon of Odessa; daughters, Mary Barker of Odessa and Pat Matheaus of Pipe Creek; son, Glen Whiteside of Bangs; 11 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

Arrangements by Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.
