Eulice Rainey KRESS — Eulice F. Rainey, 88, of Kress, a retired farmer, died Monday, Oct. 29, 2001, at his residence. Services will be at 10 a.m. today at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Jay Simpson officiating. Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Willow cemetery in Haskell. Arrangements by Wallace Funeral Home. He was born in Wise County and had been a resident of Plainview. He was Baptist. SURVIVORS: Daughters, Loretta Hill of Odessa and Nell Allen of Trophy Club; sons, Gary Rainey of Andrews and Michael Rainey of Lewisville; sister, Ruby Wooten of Haskell; nine grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren. Mary Gray HOUSTON — Mary Louise Gray, 75, of Odessa died Monday, Oct. 29, 2001, in Houston. Services are pending with Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors. Dorothy Wiesman ODESSA — Dorothy Eleanor Wiesman, 68, of Odessa died Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2001, at Medical Center Hospital. Services are pending with Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors. Roy Strube ODESSA — Roy Gene Strube, 60, of Odessa passed away on Wednesday, September 12, 2001, at his residence. He was born February 12, 1941, in Slaton, Texas, to Florance and Esther Strube. During his school years, he was involved in 4-H. He graduated in 1960. He married Martha on August 20, 1966. He came to Odessa in 1975 from Abilene. He was the owner of Welding Machine Maintenance and was involved in Lubbock, Houston, and Abilene Liquid Air Sales. He gave his time, work, and donations to Special Olympics and was a member of the Black Gold Chili Pod Club. His father, F.A. Strube, and brothers, L.C and Allen Strube, preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife, Martha Strube of Dallas; daughter Shannon Garrett of Lubbock; mother Esther Strube of Slaton; brother Quinton Strube of Slaton; sister Martha Ann of Grand Prairie; and three grandsons, Cody, Brandon and Mason Garrett. Services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 17, 2001, at Sunset Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Mark Woodruff officiating. Burial will follow at 3:00 p.m. at West Englewood cemetery in Slaton with the Rev. Roland Buxkemper officiating. Pallbearers will be Ed Kelley, Anton Friske, Brian Strube, Robbie Buxkemper, Thomas Strube, and Chris Blanchard. The family has requested memorials to Special Olympics. Services entrusted to Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Bernard ‘Skip’ Butts ODESSA — “Skip, ” a loving husband and father, loyal friend and devout Christian man, crossed over to be with his Lord on Friday, September 14, 2001, at Hospice House in Odessa, Texas. His love for his family and his Lord were only matched by his love of country. He served his country courageously, and was a true patriot. Skip was born in Englewood, Kansas, April 18, 1925. He went through school in Englewood as any normal child, but by the age of 19 was walking the beaches of Normandy during World War II. What he saw there would change him forever and haunt him until his dying days. He served his country from August 23, 1943, until May 31, 1946. Eventually, Skip went to work in the oilfields of Kansas, which brought him to West Texas. There he made his home and reared his family. He lived many years in Kermit and then moved to Odessa. Skip was very active in his family’s life, serving as a Scout Master for the Boy Scouts of America. Skip was an active member of the Christian Church in Kermit while he lived there, but most recently was a loyal soldier in “HIS” church, the Christian Church of Odessa. It would be his desire that in lieu of flowers, we would honor his memory by making donations to the Christian Church of Odessa, Building Fund, and to the Hospice House, which gracefully enabled him to make that transition into eternal rest. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, September 17, 2001, at Sunset Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Clark Racca and friend Gerald Fugit officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens with a full military graveside ceremony. Arrangements by Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Survivors include: his wife, Hazel “Flo” Butts, of Odessa; his sons, Bernard “Skipper-J” Butts, of Kermit and Brent Butts, of Odessa; his stepson, Fred Fleener and wife Ida, of Odessa; his stepdaughter, Mary Jane Duffy and John, of Odessa; his brother, Cleo Butts, of Coldwater, Kan.; his sister, Dees Denny, of Alva, Okla.; five grandchildren and a great granddaughter; many nephews and nieces, and many, many friends. May God bless you all! Lynn F. Moore ODESSA — Lynn F. Moore, 70, of Odessa passed away Friday, Sept. 14, 2001, at his residence. Mr. Moore was born June 7, 1931, in Coleman, Texas. He moved to Odessa in 1942 from Dallas and married Sue Massey on October 4, 1957, in Abilene. He was the owner of Mission Well Service. Mr. Moore served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict and received the following ribbons and citations: China Service, President Unit Citation, National Defense, Korean Service, United Nations, Good Conduct and Navy Occupation. He was a member of the VFW and the American Legion and served on the board of directors for the Permian Basin International Oil Show. He was preceded in death by his father, Jesse Moore. He is survived by his wife, Sue Moore; two sons, Darrell Moore of Odessa and Robert Moore of Flower Mound; two daughters, Sandi Moore of Plano and Kari Pfeiffer of McKinney; his mother, Nelle Moore of Odessa; one brother, Jesse B. Moore of Odessa; six grandchildren, Tanner Lynn Moore, Matthew Lynn Moore, Madison Gray Moore, Sarah Jamison Moore, Preston Thomas Pfeiffer and Austin Jeffrey Pfeiffer. Public visitation will be held from 4 to 9 p.m. today at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. today. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday, September 17, 2001, at the Hubbard Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Braswell officiating. Military graveside services will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens under the direction of Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. Active pallbearers are Les King, Monnie Sparkman, John Sparkman, Jacky Sparkman, Gary Moore and David Moore. Services entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. Freda Ferrell ODESSA — Freda Augusta Ferrell, 94, of Odessa passed away Friday, Sept. 14, 2001, at her residence. She was born September 30, 1906, in Kingsbury, Texas, to Rudolph and Josephine Gotthardt. She married Marvin Ferrell on December 27, 1927, in Johnson City. He preceded her in death. Mrs. Ferrell moved to Odessa in 1944. She was a homemaker and a member of Immanuel Baptist Church. She is survived by a daughter, Marjy Newman, and her husband, Ronnie, of Odessa; one grandson, Sam Newman of Odessa, two sisters-in-law, Ruby Gotthardt and Iva Gotthardt, both of Odessa, and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 17, 2001, at Hubbard-Kelly Chapel with the Rev. Bill Cook officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Services entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. Gloria Murray ODESSA — Gloria Murray, 61, of Odessa, a retired teacher’s aide for the Ector County Independent School District, died Thursday, September 13, 2001. Gloria was born December 27, 1939, in Lott to Vastine and Bennie Truesdale. Funeral services are scheduled at 1 p.m. Wednesday, September 19, 2001, at St. James Baptist Church with the Rev. R.T. McNeil officiating. Burial will follow at Rosehill cemetery. Gloria was preceded in death by her father, a daughter, Felonese Gamble, and a brother, N.R. Truesdale. She is survived by her husband, Roy Murray of Odessa, a stepson, Greg Murray of Lubbock, a daughter, Katina Sneed of Dallas, her mother, a brother, T.L. Truesdale of Oakland, Calif., and sisters Ola Mae Scott of Lott, Velma Campbell of Odessa and Darlene Hollins of Cypress. Arrangements by Martinez Funeral Home. Lola Smith ODESSA — Lola Smith, 54, of Odessa, a retired teacher, died Tuesday, September 11, 2001, at Midland Memorial Hospital. Lola was born September 21, 1946, in Paris, Texas, to Moody Marcelous Smith and Ida Bell Embry, both of whom are deceased. Funeral services are scheduled at 2 p.m. Monday, September 17, 2001, at Rose of Sharon Missionary Baptist Church, 1615 E. Murphy St., Odessa, with the Rev. J.W. Hansen officiating. Burial will follow at Ector County cemetery. Public visitation is scheduled from 1 to 8 p.m. today at Martinez Funeral Home. Lola was preceded in death by her father and mother, a son, Kenneth Marcelous, and a brother, Willie Joe Smith. She is survived by a daughter, Keiah Templeton of Odessa; a brother, Roy Smith of Odessa; a sister, Nettie Smith of Odessa, and one grandchild. Services entrusted to Martinez Funeral Home. Felix Ramirez ODESSA — Felix Ramirez, 86, a sanitarian, of Odessa, died Saturday, Sept. 1, 2001, at Medical Center Hospital. He was born May 18, 1915, in Lajitas, Texas, to Feliciana Dominguez and Pedro Ramirez. He was married to Dominga Vasquez Ramirez. Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Odessa with Father Fidelo Lugo officiating. Burial will follow at Rosehill cemetery in Odessa. Rosary was held at 7 p.m. Monday at Martinez Funeral Home. Arrangements by Martinez Funeral Home. He was a Catholic. He was preceded in death by his father, Pedro Ramirez, his mother, Feliciana Ramirez, and his son, Carmelo Ramirez. Survivors are wife, Dominga Ramirez of Odessa; daughters Prude Orozco of Odessa and Narcisca Primera and husband Arnulfo of Odessa; sons, Pedro Ramirez and wife Carolina of San Angelo, Ernest Ramirez, Alfonso Ramirez, Ezequiel Ramirez, Felix Ramirez Jr., Frank Ramirez and wife Teresa, all of Odessa, and Joe Ramirez and wife Lucy of San Angelo; sisters, Manuela Torres of Bakersfield, Calif., and Alcaria Mendez of Monahans; 35 grandchildren; 59 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
