KERMIT - Margarette E. Carney, 90, of Killeen, a homemaker, died Monday, Jan. 14, 2002, in Killeen.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Ernest Wall officiating. Burial will be at the Kermit cemetery. Arrangements by Memorial Services.
She was born in Lamb County and had been a resident of Kermit. She was Baptist.
SURVIVORS: Son, George Seales of Killeen; daughters, Eva Mitchell of Kermit, Bertha Voss of Streetman and Elizabeth Ford of Water Valley; brother, T.F. Pyeatt of Roswell, N.M.; sisters, Emma Harvard of Corsicana, Mutt Holley and Estell Mullins, both of Albuquerque, N.M., and Gladys Howell of Arlington; 11 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.

Neta Carter
LAKE DALLAS - Neta Mae Carter, 77, of Euless, a homemaker, died Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2002, in Bedford.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today at Swisher cemetery. Arrangements by Dalton and Son Funeral Home.
She was born in Lone Grove, Okla.
SURVIVORS: Son, Ron Carter of Midland; daughter, Debbie Holmes of Cetralia, Ill.; a brother; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Katie Davis
ODESSA - Katie Ray Davis, 7 months, of Odessa died Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2002, at Cooks Children’s Hospital in Fort Worth.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Betty Yoakum officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.
She was born in Odessa.
SURVIVORS: Parents, Roy Elizondo and Donna Davis, both of Odessa; sisters, Samantha Elizondo and Kayla Davis, both of Odessa, and Kacie Hayden of El Reno, Okla.; grandparents, Richard and Jackie Elizondo of Odessa and Kenneth and Brenda Callahan of Midland; and great-grandparents, Bill Jakeway of Tampa, Fla., and Susie Elizondo of Odessa.

John Flynn
MONAHANS - John Edward Flynn, 63, of Round Rock, a retired employee of Motorola Austin, died Monday, Jan. 14, 2002, in Round Rock.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today at Monahans Memorial cemetery with Everett Huett officiating. Arrangements by Memorial Services.
He was born in San Francisco. He was an Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War.
SURVIVORS: Wife, Norma Flynn of Round Rock; sons, Edward Flynn of Round Rock and Michael Flynn of Austin; daughters, Barbara Martin and Diane Meyers, both of Austin; and five grandchildren.

Hazel Garner
ODESSA - Hazel M. Garner, 84, of Odessa, a retired jewelry store salesperson, died Thursday, Jan. 17, 2002, at her residence.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Odessa Funeral Home Angeles Memorial Chapel with the Rev. David Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill cemetery. Arrangements by Odessa Funeral Home Angeles Memorial Chapel.
She was born in Trinity County. She was Baptist.
SURVIVORS: Son, Robert Garner of Waco; daughter, Sandra Garner of Odessa; brother, James Reynolds of Trinity; sisters, Kathryn Patrick of Crockett and Erma Dean Nash of Austin; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Harry Hammond
FORT STOCKTON - Harry L. Hammond, 87, of Pecos County, owner and operator of a mechanic shop, died Thursday, Jan. 17, 2002, in Fort Stockton.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Fort Stockton Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. A.D. Jackson officiating. Burial will be at East Hill cemetery. Arrangements by Fort Stockton Funeral Home.
He was born in Earth County and was a resident of Pecos County since 1950. He was Methodist.
SURVIVORS: Wife, Annie Hammond of Fort Stockton; son, Budd Hammond of Fort Stockton; sister, Bessie Armstrong of Stephenville; brother, Fred Hammond of Brownwood; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Evaline Kemp
JAL, N.M. - Evaline Kemp, 89, of Jal, N.M., a homemaker, died Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2002, at Winkler County Memorial Hospital in Kermit.
Services will be at 2 p.m. MST Monday at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Tim Duncan officiating. Burial will be at Jal Cooper cemetery. Arrangements by Cooper Funeral Chapel.
She was born in Mills County and was a resident of Jal for 50 years. She was Baptist.
SURVIVORS: Sons, Charlie Stean Kemp of Jal and Cliff Kemp of Kermit; daughter, Wanda Ragain of Jal; 10 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

Clara Mims
WESLACO - Clara Markowsky Mims, 85, of Weslaco, retired operator of the Odessa Walgreen Agency Drug Store, died Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2002, at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Faith Lutheran Church. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by McCaleb Funeral Home.
She was born in Cuero and had been a resident of Odessa.
SURVIVORS: Sons, Gary Mims of Fort Worth and Jack Mims of Weslaco; sister, Mary Lou Heny of Texas City; and brother, Edward Markowsky of La Feria.

E.A. Naquin
EVANGELINE, La. - E.A. 'Noc' Naquin, 71, of Midland, a retired drilling supervisor for Superior and Mobil Co., died Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2002, at his residence.
Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at Jules Catholic Church. Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Sunday at Matthews and Son Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at Petite Mamou. Arrangements by Ellis Funeral Home.
He was born in Montegut, La.
SURVIVORS: Wife, Lillian Naquin of Midland; sons, Wayne Naquin of Lubbock and Stephen Naquin of Cleveland, Tenn.; daughters, Amy Whiteaker of Houma, La., Stephanie Lentz and Jennifer Steward, both of Midland; brothers, Elphe Naquin and Elward Naquin, both of Houma; sister, Elma Martin of Houma; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

KERMIT - Esther Powers, 97, of Wink, a homemaker, died Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2002, at her residence.
Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Thomas Catholic Church with the Rev. John Lucido officiating. Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Sunday at Cooper Funeral Chapel. Burial will be at the Kermit cemetery. Arrangements by Cooper Funeral Chapel.
She was born in Chickasaw, Okla., and was a resident of Wink for 40 years. She was Catholic.
SURVIVORS: Several nieces and nephews.

Frank Shrum
MILTON-FREEWATER, Ore. - Frank Louis Shrum, 76, of Milton-Freewater, Ore., retired owner and operator of a service and gas station, died Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2002, at his residence.
No services are planned. Arrangements by Munselle-Rhodes Funeral Home.
He was born in Mineral Wells. He was a Navy veteran of World War II.
SURVIVORS: Wife, Frances Shrum of Milton-Freewater; sons, David L. Shrum of Forrestville, Pa., and Teryl Ray Shrum of Oklahoma City; daughter, Shirley Woodburn of Wichita, Kan.; stepdaughters, Gail Neese of Ellwood, Ind., Lavonne Barbour of Fayetteville, N.C., Linda Potter and Brenda Miller, both of Milton-Freewater; brother, David Shrum of Seminole; sisters, Elizabeth McDonald of Seminole, Josephine Elkins of Fort Worth and Essie Mead of Farmington, N.M.; four grandchildren; eight step grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three step great-grandchildren.

She was born in Ranger and had been a resident of Odessa. She was a member of the Church of Christ.
SURVIVORS: Son, Philip Gerald Wright of Ruidoso, N.M.; three grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

ODESSA - Alice Damron, 78, of Odessa died Thursday, Jan. 17, 2002, at her residence.
