Ira Satchell
ODESSA — Ira Lee Satchell, 77, of Odessa, a homemaker, died Monday, Jan. 14, 2002, at her residence.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Mount Zion Baptist Church with the Rev. William “Bill” Tatum officiating. Burial will be at Rose Hill cemetery. Arrangements by Martinez Funeral Home.
She was born in Brenham and was a resident of Odessa for 42 years.
SURVIVORS: Daughter, Emma Moorer of Odessa; sister, Mary Stanton of Odessa; and seven grandchildren.

Jason Lynn Fields
ODESSA — Jason Lynn “Jay” Fields passed away Saturday, Jan. 12, 2002, at Midland Memorial Hospital and Medical Center.
Jay was born April 10, 1974, in Odessa. He attended school in Odessa and graduated from Permian High School in 1992. In Feb. 1994, he joined the United States Marines and graduated from boot camp in Camp Pendleton, Calif. Jay completed two six-month tours abroad. He continued his military career into Special Forces and was honorably discharged in Feb. 1998. In Dec. 1998, he graduated from the Odessa Police Academy in the top five of his class as a Certified Texas Peace Officer. Jay was an avid body builder, runner and worked as a local personal trainer. He married Tanya Turner on Feb. 12, 1996, in Carlsbad, Calif. They have a son, Jacob Thomas Fields.
Jay is survived by his father, Jay Dale Fields; mother, Robin Lynn Kidd; grandparents, Frelan and Ruth Fields; sister, Gina Parker; uncle, Joey Fields; half brothers, Cory and Cody “Buck” Fields and Johnny Lynn Kidd; half sister, Emily Kidd; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Services will be at 10 a.m. today, Jan. 16, 2002, at Immanuel Baptist Church with Brian Swiggert officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens with full military honors.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to be made to the local Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Services are entrusted to Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.

David Wayne Huddleston
MONAHANS — Funeral services for David Wayne Huddleston, 61, of Monahans are scheduled for 2 p.m. today, Jan. 16, 2002, at First Baptist Church of Monahans with the Rev. Francis Wilson officiating. Burial will follow at Monahans Memorial cemetery.
Mr. Huddleston was born Feb. 7, 1940, in Seagraves to Thomas Loyd and Carrie Lee Cummins Huddleston. He died Sunday, Jan. 13, 2002, at his residence.
He was a graduate of Andrews High School. He graduated from Texas Tech University with a bachelor of science degree in education and from Kansas State College of Pittsburg in Pittsburg, Kan., with a master of science degree in mathematics. He taught one year in Dimmit and two years in Anton. He taught 20 years in Monahans before his retirement. He taught at Odessa College as an adjunct professor from 1994 to 2000.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Loyd and Carrie Lee Huddleston; a sister, Bennie Jo; and five brothers, Calvin Glen, Alvin Loyd, Harlon Gene, Gerald Lee and Johnny Gaylon Huddleston.
He is survived by his wife, Vi Huddleston of Monahans; a daughter, Donna Starling and husband Alan of Flower Mound; a grandson, Bucky Starling; and a granddaughter, Jolie Starling, both of Flower Mound.

Bill Millhollon
ODESSA — Bill Millhollon, 76, of Odessa passed away Saturday, Jan. 12, 2002, at Hospice House.
Mr. Millhollon was born July 9, 1925, in San Antonio. He married Florene Kramer on Dec. 8, 1948, in Austin. He was a homebuilder and mechanical contractor and developer in Odessa, Midland and surrounding areas for 35 years. He was a frequent contributor to the letters to the editor page of the Odessa American, was active at Life Unlimited Church and was a member of the University of Texas Students Association, Odessa Builders Association, Odessa Board of Realtors, Odessa Chamber of Commerce, Full Gospel Business Men’s Association and the Confederate Air Force.
He was preceded in death by a son, David Millhollon, and parents, Tom and Bernice Millhollon.
He is survived by his wife, Flo Millhollon of Odessa; two sons, Gary and wife Carole Millhollon of Albuquerque, N.M., and Tom and wife Debbie Millhollon of Granbury; three grandchildren, Leslie Barnard of Arlington, Brandon Carpenter of Arlington and Jonathan Millhollon of Lubbock; a great-grandchild, Kaleb Barnard of Arlington; a sister, Jane Saathoff of Magnolia; and his beloved dog, B.B.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, 2002, at Life Unlimited Church with Pastor Don Palmer officiating.
Services entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

Jack W. Murray
DALLAS — Jack W. Murray, formerly of Odessa and Kenosha, Wis., was born Sept. 4, 1921, in Aurora, Ill., and passed away peacefully Monday, Jan. 14, 2002, at his home in Dallas.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, John Abbott of Odessa.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Marion; son, Charles “Hap” Murray (Cherry) of Ottawa, Canada; daughter, Susan Royal (Phil) of Santa Fe, N.M.; granddaughters, Sunny Abbott Benally (Alvin) of El Paso, Laura White (Doug) of Dallas and Joelle Murray (Anthony Dale) of Toronto, Canada; grandson, Ryan Murray of Ottawa, Canada; great-granddaughter, Faith Benally; and nieces and nephews, Lance and Marilou Wimmer of Dallas, Jim and Barbara Keim of Annandale, N.J., and Jacqui and Michael Semiraro of Carlsbad, Calif.
Jack was the quintessential bottom line entrepreneur who was a sweetheart. He was a generous supporter of many important social causes and believed very strongly in family and church. Through his generosity and kindness, he touched the lives of many people and will be sorely missed.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, 2002, at St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church, 8011 Douglas, in Dallas.
In lieu of flowers, Marion hopes friends will make bequests in Jack’s name to the Dallas Hearing Foundation, 7777 Forest Lane, A-103, Dallas, Texas, 75230.

Allen Whirley
ODESSA — Allen Whirley, 44, of Odessa passed away Monday, Jan. 14, 2002, at Medical Center Hospital. He was born March 31, 1958, in Odessa to Raymond and Mildred Whirley.
He was a lifelong resident of Odessa. He served as a U.S. Marine and enjoyed participating in the Texas Oilman’s Bass Invitational Tournament. He worked for R&H Well Service for 20 years.
His mother preceded him in death.
Allen is survived by his son, Richard Allen Whirley of Utah; daughter, Stephanie of San Antonio; father, Raymond of Odessa; brothers, Jerry Madry of Plainview, Mike and Dennis Whirley of Odessa; sisters, Deana Bradford of Odessa, Sharon Herrington of Weslaco, Patty Floyd of Odessa, Tammy Maxwell of Carrollton and Mary Ann Smith of Crane; and two grandchildren.
Services are scheduled for 4 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, 2002, at Sunset Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Ron Maxwell officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
The family request memorials to the Make-a-Wish Foundation.
Services are under the direction of Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.

Jack D. Akin Jr.
KERMIT — Jack D. Akin Jr., 43, known to his family and friends as Rusty, passed away Sunday, Jan. 13, 2002, at his home in Kermit.
He is survived by his loving parents, Jack and Mittie Akin of Kermit; a stepson, Larry McNew of Kermit; a stepdaughter, Sisty Brown of Kermit; his devoted sisters and their husbands, Cheryl and Mike Bandel of San Antonio, Cathy and Jim Kapka of Roswell, N.M., and Janice and Eddie Johnson of Odessa; four nephews; two nieces; two great-nephews; a great-niece; several aunts, uncles and cousins; and many loving friends.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. today, Jan. 16, 2002, at First Baptist Church of Kermit with Brother Clydel Chapman and the Rev. Gary Redwine officiating. Burial will be at the Kermit cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Cooper Funeral Chapel Inc.

Frieda Kennison
ODESSA — Frieda Kennison, 74, our mom, passed away Monday, Jan. 14, 2002, at Medical Center Hospital. She was born May 14, 1927, in Muskogee, Okla., to Frederick and Liza Jane Eppler.
What a loving legacy you have left behind in your 74-year journey to heaven. You will be sorely missed by your loving husband and companion of 37 years, Richard, who will cherish the memories and look forward to joining you again someday; son, Danny Teague and wife Ann of California; daughters, Shiela Kinard and husband Travis of Dallas, Johnna Miller and husband Tracy of Colleyville and Johnette Cloud and husband David of Carrollton; grandchildren, Lorie DeSalvo, Grant, Noah and Emily-Grace Miller and Matthew Cloud; and great-grandchildren, Cody and Raechelle DeSalvo.
We know you are visiting and enjoying your family who preceded you, infant son, Freddy; brother, Henry “Buster;” and sisters, Mary and Shirley.
Sister Naomi says you’ll have to wait to see her again!
You enriched our lives and taught us so much, Mom. How can we ever express our love and appreciation for all you did and for who you were to us? For now, we will just cherish our time together and look forward to the day we join you. Keep everyone in line for us until then. Love, your family.
Graveside services are scheduled for 9 a.m. today, Jan. 16, 2002, at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Elder Billy Chandler officiating.

Don Beck
ODESSA — Don Douglas Beck, 82, of Odessa, retired owner of Automatic Pipe Racker Inc., died Friday, Jan. 11, 2002, at Medical Center Hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Mike Bartlett and Jimmy Braswell officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
He was born in Lehigh, Okla. He was an Air Force veteran.
SURVIVORS: Wife, Rebecca Beck of Odessa; sons, Don Beck of Odessa; stepsons, Joe Barnard of Knox and Richard Barnard of Dallas; daughters, Darla Auten and Cheryl Farr, both of Odessa; and eight grandchildren.

Von Drinkard
ODESSA — Von Dell Drinkard, 64, of Odessa, a retired minister, died Sunday, Jan. 13, 2002, at Medical Center Hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Faith Community Church with the Rev. Wayne Shelton officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
He was born in Brownswood and moved to Odessa in 1961.
SURVIVORS: Wife, Barbra Drinkard of Odessa; sons, Tim Drinkard of Houston and Scott Drinkard of Odessa; brothers, Preston Drinkard of Boyd, Herman Drinkard and Jerry Drinkard, both of Brownwood, and Wendell Drinkard of Arlington; and two grandchildren.
