Loma 'Cookie' Murphy
IMPERIAL - Loma J. Murphy, 89, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2002.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. today, Feb. 8, 2002, at the Imperial Community Center with the Rev. Raquel Mull officiating. Burial will follow in the Imperial cemetery under the direction of Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home.
Loma was born April 4, 1912, in Lovelady, Texas, to Boykie Kue and Gertrude Palmer. She married Wince L. Murphy on Sept. 29, 1933, and they had two children, Prince Boykie and Deneise. She and her husband helped build Red Bluff Reservoir, raised sheep, goats, cotton, cattle and a wonderful family. Loma and Wince helped build the Methodist Church in Imperial, Texas, where they resided for over half a century. Loma never knew a stranger and could make friends with anyone in a short period of time. She loved visiting with people and would make time in her busy schedule to just visit.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, one grandson and her loving husband of over 51 years.
She is survived by her two children, Prince Boykie of La Grange and Deneise Reid of Midland; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Lucille Phelps Templeton
ODESSA - Lucille Phelps Templeton passed from the arms of Hospice House to the wonderful light of heaven Thursday, Feb. 7, 2002.
Lucille Phelps was born Jan. 14, 1912, to O.L. Phelps and Edna Earle Bledsoe in Rockwall County. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Joe, Doran, Jack, Ted, Lloyd and Woody; her sister, Mary Beth; and her son, Don Jones.
Survivors are her daughter, Teddy Lewis of Odessa; granddaughter, Cheri Swingle and husband Bruce of Canonsburg, Pa.; grandson, Michael Cartwright; great-grandson, Justin Cartwright; great-granddaughter, Misti Cartwright, all of Odessa; grandson, Robert Cartwright and wife Barbara; great-granddaughter, Bridget Cartwright, all of Midland; grandson, Charles Jones; and granddaughter, Lisa Jones of Hobbs, N.M.
Funeral services celebrating her long life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, 2002, at Sunset Memorial Chapel, 6801 E. Highway 80, with the Rev. Roger Willis of Second Baptist Church of Midland officiating.
Her daughter expresses grateful loving thanks to Dr. John Whitten and his nurse Sandra Epperson and especially to the entire staff at Parks Methodist Retirement Village for the love, kindness and care each of them gave to her mother.
Services under the care of Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.

Esta Lee Beatrice Tye
KERMIT - Esta Lee Beatrice Tye, born Jan. 14, 1909, in Carbon, Texas, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2002, in Longview, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Tye, in 1996.
Esta Lee graduated from Carbon High School and John Tarleton College in Stephenville. She began working for the U.S. Postal Service in 1929 in New Mexico where she met and married Jimmy in 1931. They moved to Kermit in 1936 and they lived there until 1996.
She is survived by three sisters, Nadine Mowinckle of Houston, Margaret Seely of Longview and Topsy Yarbrough of Austin.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, 2002, at Cooper Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Henry Freund officiating. Burial will follow at the Kermit cemetery.
Services are under the direction of Cooper Funeral Chapel.

Ralph Marrion 'Pat' Partrick
ODESSA - Ralph Marrion “Pat” Partrick, 83, of Odessa passed away Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2002, at his residence. He was born March 29, 1918, in Aline, Okla. He married Erma Corbin on Nov. 22, 1937, in Carmen, Okla.
Mr. Partrick came to Odessa in 1948. He was a mechanic in the oilfield pipeline business. He was past president of the Ector County Sheriff’s Posse. He was a member of the West Texas Trail Riders and rode in every Fourth of July parade and also rode in the SandHills Rodeo Grand Entry.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Mary Partrick, and brother, Wayne Partrick.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Erma Corbin Partrick; three daughters, Karan Harms and husband Vance of Glen Cove, Shreda Banks and husband James of Odessa and Zahndra Adams and husband Don of Odessa; nine grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today, Feb. 8, 2002, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Griffin Jones officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Larry Adams, Travis Adams, Neal Harms, Stephen Sanders, D’Wayne Sanders, Kenny Biggerstaff, Josh Martin and Tony Martin.
Services entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

Nina Lenora Langlie Winjum
ODESSA - Nina Lenora Langlie Winjum, 95, of Odessa died Thursday, Jan. 31, 2002, at the Hospice House of Odessa.
Mrs. Winjum was born April 16, 1906, in Pelican Rapids, Minn., the daughter of Gunnleig and Antonette Langlie, the ninth of 11 children. After graduating from Pelican High School, she earned a teaching certificate from Moorhead State College. While teaching school in Middle River, Minn., she met and married James Winjum on June 11, 1931. The couple moved to Thief River Falls, Minn., where he owned Hartz Supermarket until his death in 1963. She was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church and the Hospital Auxiliary. She remained in Thief River Falls until 1994 when she moved to Odessa.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, six sisters, four brothers and a grandson.
She is survived by her son, James and his wife Kathleen Winjum of Pelican Rapids, Minn.; her daughter, Diane Cunningham and husband John of Odessa; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
She will be greatly missed.
Memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, 2002, at First Presbyterian Church. Burial will be at a later date at Greenwood cemetery in Thief River Falls, Minn.
Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church of Odessa or to a favorite charity of your choice.

David Wilkins
LUBBOCK - Services for David Wilkins, 63, of Wolfforth were at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 4, 2002, at the Rock of Ages Baptist Church in Lubbock with the Rev. Howard McCann officiating. Burial followed at the City of Lubbock cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of White Funeral Home of Lubbock.
He passed away Thursday, Jan. 31, 2002, in Amarillo.
He was born Nov. 25, 1938, in Commerce to the late Elmer Wilkins and Irene Miller Wilkins. He attended school in Lubbock. He married Dorothy Morris in 1960 in Lubbock. He moved to Lubbock from Commerce in 1948. He had worked for Homer Wilson Construction Co. and Southwest Bingo Supplies for 35 years. He served in the Army and was in Germany for three years. He was a Baptist.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Bud Wilkins and Edwin Wilkins, and a sister, Mary Pope.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Wilkins of Wolfforth; four daughters, Elizabeth Wilkins, Diana Caddel, Dana Ressler and Jody Wilkins, all of Wolfforth; a sister, Lena Fisbeck of Lubbock; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Bobby Andrews
GRANDFALLS - Bobby 'Red' Andrews, 69, of Grandfalls, a retired oilfield worker, died Jan. 26, 2002, at Ward Memorial Hospital.
Services will be at 4 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church of Grandfalls with the Rev. Craig Rhoton officiating. Burial will follow at Tamarisk cemetery of Grandfalls. Arrangements by Harkey Funeral Home.
He was born in Byers. He was a Marines veteran of the Korean War. He was Baptist.
SURVIVORS: Sons, Dennis Andrews and Bobby Andrews, both of Monahans; daughters, Cathy Brookshire of Wichita Falls and Treva Ellis of Amarillo; brother, Raymond Andrews of Wichita Falls; sister, Carolyn Robinson of Clarington; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Walter Friesen
ALPINE - Walter Bennett Friesen, 57, of Alpine, a geologist, died Friday, Jan. 25, 2002, at his residence.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Ed Waddill officiating. Burial will be at Elm Grove cemetery. Arrangements by Geeslin Funeral Home.
He was born in Fort Worth.
SURVIVOR: Mother, Merle Tilley of Alpine.

Calvin Gibson
ODESSA - Calvin Gibson, 65, of Odessa, a retired retail worker and carpenter, died Friday, Jan. 25, 2002, in Odessa.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Ellis Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Fairview cemetery. Arrangements by Ellis Funeral Home.
He was born in Pittsburgh, Calif.
SURVIVORS: Sons, James Scott Gibson of Milpatas, Calif., and Autrey Loye Gibson of Nineveh, Ind.; stepdaughter, Gina A. Robbins of Browstown, Ind.; mother, Camealia Faye Jimno of Milpatas; and two grandchildren.

Corwyn Melton
ODESSA— Corwyn Martin Alexander Melton, 2 months, died Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2002, at Medical Center Hospital.
No services are scheduled at this time. Arrangements by Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.

PECOS - Alicia A. Rodriguez, 56, of Pecos, a homemaker, died Jan. 24, 2002, at Midland Memorial Hospital.
Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday at Santa Rosa Catholic Church with the Rev. Ben Flores officiating. Rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m. today at Pecos Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at Mt. Evergreen cemetery. Arrangements by Pecos Funeral Home.
She was born in Grandfalls. She was Catholic.
SURVIVORS: Husband, Efren Rodriguez of Pecos; daughter, Joanne Rodriguez of San Antonio; mother, Maria A. Chavez of Pecos; brothers, Luis Acosta and David Acosta, both of Pecos; sisters, Angelina Sanchez of Monahans, Valentina Whitmore of Las Vegas and Cruzita Acosta of Pecos.

Delbert Thompson
ODESSA - Delbert Leroy Thompson, 67, of Odessa, a truck driver, died Saturday, Jan. 26, 2002, at Trinity Haven Healthcare in Midland.
Services will be at 4 p.m. Monday at Sunset Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Bill Count officiating. Arrangements by Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.
He was born in Wichita Falls. He was an Army veteran.
SURVIVORS: Son, Dale Thompson of Odessa; sister, Sara Newman of Pampa; and a grandchild.
