Georgia Sawyer
ODESSA — Georgia Mae Sawyer, 74, of Odessa, a homemaker, died Wednesday, July 31, 2002, at Medical Center Hospital.
Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Robert Rowe officiating. Arrangements by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
She was born in Grayville, Ill.
SURVIVORS: Sons, Kevin Sawyer and Kerry Sawyer, both of Odessa; daughters, Bonnie Thomas and Renee Janosik, both of Odessa; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Helen Joyce Lindsey
ODESSA — Helen Joyce Lindsey, 77, passed away Monday, June 24, 2002, in Eldorado. She was born Feb. 20, 1925, to Alvie and Fannie Fore in Healdton, Okla.
Services are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Thursday, June 27, 2002, at Sunset Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Helen married Paul E. Lindsey on July 5, 1943, in Healdton, Okla. She moved to Eldorado four months ago from Oklahoma City. She was a longtime resident of Andrews and she was a member of the Andrews Church of Christ.
Her husband and parents preceded her in death.
She is survived by her two sons, Ronald E. Lindsey and wife Debra of Aledo and Floyd P. Lindsey and wife Donna of Levelland; daughters, Diane Burich and husband Phillip of Natchez, Miss., and Gail Leatherwood and husband Don of Sonora; brother, Alvie F. Fore Jr. and wife Gloria of Spring; sisters, Leota Brown and husband Barry of Seminole, Peggy Dickerson of Shelter Island, N.Y., and Yvonne Fore of Graham; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
The family requests memorials to In Search of the Lord’s Way, P.O. Box 371, Edmond, Okla., 73083-0371.
Services are under the direction of Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.

Carolyn K Montgomery
ODESSA — Carolyn K Montgomery, age 62, passed away Sunday, June 23, 2002, in Houston.
Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday, June 27, 2002, at Sunset Memorial Chapel with Bart Montgomery and Boyd Whitehead officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Carolyn K Montgomery was born Feb. 24, 1940, in Brady to Joe and Sibyle Reynolds. K married Hershel Montgomery on July 6, 1958. She and Hershey resided in Odessa for 43 years. K loved football. Her expert advice: “Don’t take Dallas for the openers.” She also enjoyed music, Scrabble, the piano, shooting pool, crosswords and chess. She was a member of the Eastern Star.
Her parents preceded her in death.
K is survived by her husband, Hershel Montgomery of Odessa; daughters, Kelli Troup and her husband Brad of Houston and Traci Blair of Brownwood; sister, Bonnie Childers of Midland and Penny Tharp of Canon City, Colo.; and four grandchildren, Dustin Blair of Odessa, Casey Blair of Brownwood and Alexandria and Kassidy Troup of Houston.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Memorial Hermann Continuing Care Hospital, 3043 Gessner, Houston, Texas, 77080.
Services are under the care of Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.

Oran Logan
MIDLAND — Oran Logan, 84, of Midland, a retired truck driver for Britt Trucking Co., died Thursday, June 20, 2002, at his residence.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Pipkin Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bob Porterfield officiating. Burial will follow at Lamesa Memorial Park in Lamesa. Arrangements by Pipkin Funeral Home and Chapel.
He was born in Finis.
SURVIVORS: Daughters, Teresa Ramos and Virginia “Jenni” Walls, both of Midland; brother, Johnny Logan of Graham; sister, Venita Bell Manley of Fort Worth; six grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Emeterio Rico
MIDLAND — Emeterio “Elmer” Rico, 36, of Odessa, a cook, died Tuesday, June 18, 2002, in Odessa.
Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Saturday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today at Thomas Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at Fairview cemetery. Arrangements by Thomas Funeral Home.
He was born in Midland.
SURVIVORS: Mother, Elena Castellon Rico of Odessa; father, Narciso Sanchez Rico Sr. of Amarillo; sisters, Gloria “Maria” Nunez of Odessa and Cynthia Rico of Midland; brothers, Jesse Castellon, Ricardo Castillo Jr., Narciso Castellon Rico Jr. and Martin Castellon Rico, all of Odessa, Jose Castillo of Roswell, N.M., Romulo Castellon of Farmington, N.M., and Antonio Castellon Rico of Kettering, Ohio; and grandmother, Manuela Sanchez of Amarillo.

Page Greene
ODESSA — Page Greene died peacefully June 24, 2002, cradled in the loving arms of his wife of 56 years.
Mr. Greene was born March 11, 1920, in Wichita, Kan., to John Kell Greene and Mabel Osmond Greene. After his parents passed away when he was 9, he was raised by his mother’s sister, Harriette Osmond.
He entered the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II, completing active duty in the South Pacific and retiring in 1946.
Mr. Greene married Barbara Hurley on March 2, 1946, in Houston. They moved to Austin where he completed his petroleum engineering degree at the University of Texas in 1949.
In 1949, the Greene’s were transferred to Odessa with General American Oil Co., where he became superintendent of production. He enjoyed fishing, chess, teaching his grandchildren to swim and cooking outdoors for his family.
Mr. Greene was on the Founding Board of Meals on Wheels and delivered meals for several years. He served on the vestry of St. John’s Episcopal Church as Jr. Warden. He will be remembered for his integrity as a businessman, his devotion to his family and as a faithful friend to many.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Greene; daughter, Mary Alyson Greene Smith; granddaughter, Jennifer Chapman; grandson, David Mallow; great-grandchildren, Jason Mallow, Bryce Mallow and Janey Chapman; and sister, Barbara Greene Davis.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Carolyn Greene Harris; and aunt, Harriette Osmond McLelland.
Mr. Greene stoically endured a long and painful battle with cancer and generously willed his body to science in hope of finding a cure for this insidious disease.
The last rites ceremony was given by Canon David Veal of St. Barnabas’ Episcopal Church where Mr. Greene was a longtime member.

Bob Criswell
MONAHANS — Bob Criswell died Tuesday, June 25, 2002, at VA Hospital in Big Spring.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, June 28, 2002, at Third and Dwight Church of Christ with Greg Holly officiating. Burial will be at 1 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Blair Kemp, Tommy Hawkins, Jason Hawkins, Jeff Crowe, Brian Buxkemper and Richard Baggett.
He was born March 5, 1921, in Aspermont. He was an Army veteran and a member of the Church of Christ. He worked at The Post Office Barber Shop for many years. He enjoyed furniture building as a hobby. He loved sports, especially boxing. He enjoyed watching his grandkids grow up and participate in sports and enjoyed spending time with his great-grandson, Tristan. He was a 32nd degree mason.
He was preceded in death by granddaughter, Nicole Kemp.
He is survived by his daughter, Connie Kemp Hawkins and husband Tommy of Midland; grandchild, Blair Kemp and wife Kaylynn of Hobbs, N.M.; great-grandchild, Tristan Kemp of Hobbs, N.M.; two brothers, Dale Criswell and Alvin Douglas Criswell, both of Sacramento, Calif.; and three sisters, Ann Fuller of Jamestown, Calif., Grace McDaniel and Patsy Blanton, both of Sacramento, Calif.
Arrangements by Heritage Funeral Home.

Mary Helen Hoover
MIDLAND — Mary Helen Hoover, 87, died Friday, Jan. 11, 2002, at a local hospital.
Services were Monday, Jan. 14, 2002, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with Doyle Snow officiating. Interment was at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, 2002, at Oaklawn cemetery in Decatur under the direction of Jackie Warren Funeral Home. Visitation preceded the funeral at the church.
She was born June 25, 1914, in Haskell to John O. and Mary Caroline Chitwood and graduated from Haskell High School in May 1931. She received her bachelor of science degree from North Texas State University and attended Columbia University in New York City. She was a home demonstration agent and district supervisor of NYA Girls projects. She taught high school and elementary school in North Texas and Houston.
On Dec. 20, 1939, she married David Ralph Hoover, a graduate of the University of Oklahoma Law School and employed by Humble Oil Co.
She served in community and church organizations and was active in genealogical societies. She was loved by many family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, two sisters, a brother, three grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
She is survived by a brother, James Osborn Chitwood of Dallas; three daughters, Martha Jane Turpen of Midland, Isla Mary Howard and Helen Elizabeth Brown, both of Arizona; a son, David James Hoover of Orem, Utah; seven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Daniel Harvey Palmer
ODESSA — Daniel Harvey Palmer, 74, of Odessa passed away Thursday, April 4, 2002, at Medical Center Hospital. He was born Dec. 5, 1927, in Hext. He married Willie McDowell on Nov. 3, 1952, in Menard County.
Mr. Palmer moved to Odessa in 1952 from Menard. He was an executive for Ortloff Corp. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of the First Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ben and Ida Palmer, and brother, Walter Palmer.
He is survived by his wife, Willie Mae Palmer of Odessa; son, Greg Palmer and wife Peggy of Odessa; daughters, Danny Marlene Palmer Wall and husband Ray of Big Spring and Jennifer Lea Palmer Hensley and husband Bill of Odessa; sister, Ruby Reagan of San Angelo; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. today, April 6, 2002, at Sunset Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Johnny Young officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens under the direction of Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
Services entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

Josephine Majors Douglass
RICHARDS — Josephine Majors Douglass passed away Thursday, April 4, 2002, after a lengthy illness. She was born July 10, 1920, in Queen City, Texas, to Julius E. and Lillian Hoke Majors. She was a graduate of Huntsville High School and a member of Bays Chapel Methodist Church.
Josephine was preceded in death by her husband, Rolland H. Douglass, and sister, Billie Sue Garner.
She is survived by daughter, Deborah K. Douglass and husband Noel Blake of Odessa; sister, Maude Kasch of Big Spring; sister, Elizabeth Hale and husband Ira of Waco; nieces and nephews, Cheryl, Don, Katie, Charlcie, Dwight, David, Walter and Katherine; and a host of loving friends.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today, April 6, 2002, at Earthman Hunters Creek Chapel, 8303 Katy Freeway, in Houston, Texas. Funeral service will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, April 7, 2002, at Bays Chapel in Richards, Texas, followed by interment at Bays Chapel cemetery.
In addition to flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Donna S. Lansford
ODESSA — Donna S. Lansford, 50, of Odessa went to be with the Lord on Easter Sunday after a short illness. She was born May 20, 1951, in Odessa to Don and Fay Allison. She graduated from Odessa High School in 1969. She married Larry Douglas on Nov. 14, 1969. She later remarried Feb. 24, 1997.
Donna enjoyed reading the Bible, quoting scriptures, ministering to people and worshipping the Lord. Her life revolved around serving God to the fullest. She touched lives more than anyone could imagine. She was a faithful child of God. Her love for God was only rivaled by her love for her children and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Doug Allison, and her grandparents.
Survivors include her parents, Don and Fay Allison of Odessa; daughter, Seree Keese and husband Gary of Abilene; son, Gary Douglas and wife Jennifer of Odessa; five grandchildren, Dustin, Jacob, Joseph and Briana Keese and Halie Douglas; sisters, LaVona Baker and husband Donald of Odessa and Kitrena Bushong and husband Randy of Andrews; brother, Nils Allison and wife Sarah of Odessa; nieces and nephews, James Baker, Tanya Bedrick, Renee and Jason Bushong and Danielle and Matthew Allison; two great-nieces, Makayla and Cheyenne Baker; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
The family will receive visitors from 7 to 9 p.m. today, April 3, 2002, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 4, 2002, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Don Hetherington and Oop Shrauner officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Nils Allison, Donald Baker, James Baker, Luke Bedrick, Bobby White, Jason Bushong and Matthew Allison.
The family requests memorials to be made to the Permian Basin Rehabilitation Center.
Mom, we want to thank you for giving us the greatest gift of all, introducing us to Jesus Christ. You have always gone above and beyond your motherly desires to protect us and raise us in a Christian home. We are not telling you goodbye, we are telling you “see you later.” You will always be a part of our lives and we will love you forever.
