DENVER CITY - Emory W. New, 86, a farmer and rancher, of Denver City died Wednesday, Nov. 5, 1997, in Lubbock.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Trinity Baptist Church with the Rev. Jim Auld officiating. Burial will be at Terry County cemetery in Brownfield. Arrangements by Ratliff Funeral Home.

He was born in Bosque County.

SRUVIVORS: Sons, Jerry New of El Paso, Bobby New of Houston and Don New of San Angelo; daughters, Jo Ann Ray of Lubbock and Linda Heimel of Jasper, Ark.; brother, Lesley New of Hico; sister, Minnie McKenzie of Hico; 17 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.

Mary Smith

SEMINOLE - Mary Smith, 71, a homemaker, of Seminole died Tuesday, Nov. 4, 1997, at Sherwood Place in Odessa.

Services will be at 11 a.m. today at Westside Church of Christ with Don Turskey of Odessa and Don Fleming of Seminole officiating. Burial will follow in Gaines County Memorial cemetery under the direction of Boyer Funeral Home.

She was born in Little Elm, and moved to Dumas with her family at age 13. She was a member of Westside Church of Christ.

SURVIVORS: Daughters, Mary Jo Kendall of Carrollton, Susie Turskey of Odessa and Sara Blake of Katy; sister, Gladys Barnes of Ben Wheeler; and six grandchildren.

Malcolm Stephens

MCCAMEY - Malcolm Stephens Sr., 66, of Jonesboro, Ga., formerly of McCamey, died Sunday, Nov. 2, 1997, in Decatur, Ga.

Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. today at Resthaven cemetery. Arrangements by Richard W. Box Funeral Homes.

He was born in Iraan and was a Navy veteran.

SURVIVORS: Daughters, Laura Stephens, Patricia Moreno and Marci Burdette, all of Jonesboro; sisters, Ollie Edwards of Graham, Wanema Howard, Nola McKee and Laura Wood, all of Odessa; Angie Everett of Olden and Nina Frost of Phoenix; brothers, Derell Stephens of McCamey and Duane Flow of Rockdale; and two grandchildren.

David Bryant

BARSTOW - David W. Bryant, 66, a retired trucking manager, former resident of Van Horn and Pecos, died Wednesday, Nov. 5, 1997, in Good Samaritan Hospital in Phoenix.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Barstow cemetery with the Rev. Rod Peacock officiating. Arrangements by Pecos Funeral Home.

He was born in South Bend, Ind.

SURVIVORS: Son, Kevin J. Bryant of Buckeye, Ariz.; sister, Patricia Wright of Scottsdale, Ariz.; two grandchildren and four grandchildren.

Hubert Odom

LUBBOCK - Hubert Odom, 82, owner and operator of Odom Food Market in Anton, of Anton died Thursday, Nov. 6, 1997, at his residence.

Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Resthaven Chapel. Arrangements by Resthaven Funeral Home.

He was born in Washburn, and had been a resident of Lubbock since 1960 after moving from Odessa. He was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church.

SURVIVORS: Son, Ron Odom of Lubbock; brother, Pete Odom of Amarillo; sisters, Doretta Swift of Amarillo and Florene Bahl of Hardy, Ark.; four grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

E.F. Williams

SEMINOLE - E.F. 'Curly' Williams, 70, of Seminole died Thursday, Nov. 6, 1997, in Lubbock.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at South Seminole Baptist Church with Earnest Wall and the Rev. Shane Kinnison officiating. Burial will be in Gaines County Memorial Park. Arrangements by Roger Pool Funeral Home.

He was born in Sands and moved to Seminole in 1949 from Lubbock. He was a former member of the Lions Club and Chamber of Commerce.

SURVIVORS: Wife, Jimmie Williams of Seminole; sons, Eldon Bruce Williams of Goliad and Renne Stuart Williams of Victoria; daughter, Maria Hill of Lubbock; brothers, J.T. Williams of Odessa and Otho Williams of Hobbs, N.M.; sisters, Marie Eggleston of Toledo Bend, Pauline McGee of Lamesa and Lois Miers of Ventura, Calif.; and seven grandchildren.

Paz Franco

ODESSA - Paz Franco, 89, of Odessa died Friday, Nov. 7, 1997, at Memorial Hospital in Midland.

Services are pending under the direction of Odessa Funeral Home/Angeles Memorial Chapel.

Melva Irvin

ODESSA - Melva P. Irvin, 82, of Odessa died Thursday, Nov. 6, 1997, at New Horizons Nursing Home.

Services are pending under the direction of Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

James Ray

ODESSA - James Patrick Ray, 43, of Odessa died Thursday, Nov. 6, 1997, in Odessa.

Services are pending under the direction of Frank W.Wilson Funeral Directors.

Clyde Eugene Barnard

ODESSA - Clyde Eugene Barnard, 59, of Odessa, died Friday, Nov. 7, 1997, at Medical Center Hospital.

Private burial services will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Al Bullard officiating. Arrangement by Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.

He was a Navy veteran and the owner of Blue Water Tropical Fish.

SURVIVORS: Wife, Marilyn Barnard of Odessa; daughter, Diane Carter of Odessa; father, Clyde W. Barnard of Greenwood, Ark.; sister, Jo Rita Gibson of Oregon; and one grandchild.

Marvin Norman Barrett

MIDLAND - Marvin Norman Barrett, 69, of Midland, died Saturday, Nov. 8, 1997, in a Midland hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Crestview Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Larry Ashlock officiating and the Rev. Lomer Green assisting. Burial services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Woodlawn Park in Mineral Wells. Arrangements by the Ellis Funeral Home.

He was a Korean War veteran, and he worked for Mobile Oil for over 30 years until his retirement.

SURVIVORS: Wife, Margie Barrett of Midland; son, Russell Barrett of College Station; daughter, Susan O'Quinn of Houston; brother, Harold Barrett of Weatherford; and five grandchildren.

Luby Wallace Bell

GARDENDALE - Luby Wallace Bell, 76, of Gardendale, died Saturday, Nov. 8, 1997, at his residence.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the First United Methodist Church in Midland with the Rev. C. Lane Boyd officiating. Masonic burial services will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Odessa. Arrangements by the Ellis Funeral Home.

He was a World War II veteran, and he worked for Exxon until his retirement in 1985.

Survivors: Sons, Randell W. Bell and Danny Bell, both of Gardendale; brother, Leon Bell of Houston; sisters, Nannie Daniel of Huntsville, Lillie Daniels of Bellville, Addie VanNess of Thibodeaux and Ida Maude Layne of Huffman; and three grandchildren.
