ANDREWS - Daniel Vasquez Sr., 39, of Andrews, an employee of Brownlee Well Services and Key Energy Services, died Friday, June 7, 2002, at Permian General Hospital in Andrews.
Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with the Rev. Bernard Gully officiating. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the Andrews North cemetery with William Gonzales officiating. Arrangements by McNett Funeral Home.
He was born in Apaseo El Alto, Mexico, and moved to Andrews in 1976 from Mexico. He was Catholic.
SURVIVORS: Wife, Martha Vasquez of Andrews; son, Daniel Vasquez Jr. of Odessa; daughter, Vivian Lujan of Salt Lake City; parents, Faustino and Maria Vasquez of Mexico; brothers, Bardomiano Vasquez of Mexico, Javier Vasquez, Juan Vasquez and Tino Vasquez, all of Longview; sisters, Elena Vasquez and Sylvia Vasquez, both of California, Maria Vasquez, Juana Vasquez and Paula Vasquez, all of Mexico; grandparents, Nino and Maria Aguilar of Mexico; and a granddaughter.

Thomas Villanueva
FORT STOCKTON - Thomas Villanueva, 67, of Fort Stockton, a construction worker, died Tuesday, June 11, 2002, in Fort Stockton.
Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Rev. Rick Ruiz officiating. Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today at the church. Burial will be at the Fort Stockton Catholic cemetery. Arrangements by Memorial Funeral Home.
He was born in Fort Davis.
SURVIVORS: Wife, Audelia Villanueva of Fort Stockton; sons, Ernest Villanueva of Fort Stockton, Tommy Villanueva Jr. of Odessa and Frank Villanueva of Iraan; daughters, Rosemary Hernandez, Marybelle Desmond and Joanna Villanueva, all of Fort Stockton, Cynthia Natera of Silver City, N.M., Diana Rodriguez of Pecos and Gracie Quintela of Monahans; brothers, Jose Villanueva of Fort Davis, Gilbert Villanueva of Alpine, Frank Villanueva of El Paso, Melo Villanueva, Henry Villanueva and Pete Villanueva Jr., all of Odessa; sister, Josephina Vasquez of Odessa; and 21 grandchildren.

Mary Riley
ODESSA - Mary Riley, 73, of Odessa died Tuesday, June 11, 2002, at Medical Center Hospital.
Services are pending with Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.

Gloria Looney Gothard
CRANE — Gloria Looney Gothard went to be with the Lord on Thursday, Feb. 28, 2002. Mrs. Gothard was 60.
A lifelong resident of Crane, she was born June 24, 1941, to K.P. and Treva Looney, pioneer residents of Crane County.
She spent her youth growing up on the Looney Ranch and attending Crane schools, graduating from Crane High School in 1959.
She owned and operated Gloria’s Salon of Beauty for over 20 years before retiring in 1987.
Gloria married Jack Gothard on Aug. 22, 1987, in Crane.
She will be remembered by all who knew her as a great humanitarian, friend and great cook, but most of all through her card ministry. She and husband Jack were honored in 1989 by KOSA-TV Channel 7 Red Plate Award, which at that time was given to people in the Permian Basin for deeds in their community.
A devout Christian woman, Gloria was a member of the First Baptist Church.
A celebration of her life will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 3, 2002, at the First Baptist Church in Crane. The Revs. Jim Hester and Steve Baker will officiate the services under the direction of Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home. A reception will be at the First Baptist Church following the service.
Private interim entombment will be at Resthaven Mausoleum in Midland with final entombment at a later date at the Crane County cemetery.
She survived by her husband, Jack Gothard of Crane; son, Kirksey Gregg of Houston; stepchildren, Traci and John Williams of Brandon, Fla., Nina and Monty Gothard of Andrews, Gina and Bill Hollweg of Miles and Lisa and Joey Rawls of Crane; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Erma Pearl Hicks
ODESSA — Erma Pearl Hicks, 87, of Odessa passed away Friday, March 1, 2002, at the Hospice House.
She was born Nov. 9, 1914, in Mills County. She married Delbert W. Hicks on Dec. 31, 1933, in Mills County. He preceded her in death Jan. 21, 1974.
Erma was a wonderful homemaker and dedicated wife, a loving and precious “Mammaw” and great grandmother who spoiled and doted over her kids.
She is survived by her sons, James “Sonney” Hicks and wife Ima of Odessa and Bradley Hicks and wife Sue of Odessa; daughter, Beverly Ann Hicks of Odessa; sisters, Ella Cox of Goldthwaite and Reva Keating of Weatherford; grandchildren, Delbert Hicks and wife Cindi of Odessa, Gary Hicks and wife Chris of San Angelo and Jeff Hicks and wife Leah of Cross Plains; and great-grandchildren, Gage Hicks, Preston Hicks, Heather Hicks, Ashley Rubio, Jaeley Hicks and Shayla Hicks.
Public visitation and funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, March 4, 2002, at Stacy-Wilkins Funeral Home in Goldthwaite. Interment will follow at the Duren cemetery in Mills County.

John Adrine Gongre
ODESSA — John Adrine Gongre, 83, of Abilene passed away Thursday, Feb. 28, 2002, in Abilene. He was born March 20, 1918, to Johnny and Eugenia Gongre in Natchitoches, La. He came to Odessa in 1953. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
His mother, father and two brothers, James and E.C. Gongre, preceded him in death.
He is survived by his sister, Mary Johnston, and niece, Janet Southerland, both of Odessa.
Graveside services are scheduled for 11 a.m. today, March 2, 2002, at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Services are under the direction of Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.

Mr. Walter Leon Goswick
KINGSVILLE — Mr. Walter Leon Goswick, age 61, a resident of Kingsville, passed away Thursday, Feb. 28, 2002, in Corpus Christi. Born Jan. 27, 1941, in Sweetwater to Virgil Goswick and Zona Shinn Franklin, Mr. Goswick was employed with Royal Wireline Inc. in Riviera as a sales engineer since 1996. He was a member of Elks Lodge No. 1926 and was past district deputy grand exalted ruler.
He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Lois E. Goswick of Kingsville; one son, David Eric (Billinda) Goswick of Amarillo; three daughters, Sherry (Mateo) Williamson of Midland, Donna Goswick and Diane Goswick, both of Kingsville; one half sister, Virganna Halbrook of the state of Texas; and four grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. today, March 2, 2002, at the Turcotte-Piper Mortuary Chapel with the Elks Lodge officiating.
Services are entrusted to Turcotte-Piper Mortuary, 205 General Cavazos Blvd., Kingsville, Texas, 78363.

Devon Ballard
ODESSA — Devon Ballard, infant son of April Freeman and Damon Ballard, died Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2002, at Medical Center Hospital.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Ector County cemetery with the Rev. Ronnie Newton officiating. Services entrusted to Memorial Services/Chapa Funeral Home.
SURVIVORS: Parents, April Freeman and Damon Ballard; brother, Arraon Ballard; and grandparents, Galen and Susan Ballard, Lewis Freeman and Tammy Starworth.

Betty Gilbert
FORT STOCKTON — Betty Gilbert, 69, of Fort Stockton, a technician, died Sunday, Sept. 29, 2002, in Fort Stockton Nursing Center.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today at East Hill cemetery in Fort Stockton with the Rev. Bernard officiating. Arrangements by Memorial Funeral Home of Fort Stockton.
She was born in Lafayette, Ind.
SURVIVORS: Daughters, Debbie Gilbert of Alpine and Pam Burke of Fort Worth; brother, Jim Galbraith of Indiana; and sister, Marion Regan of Indiana.

Johnny Gomez
FORT STOCKTON — Johnny Gomez, 45, of Fort Stockton, a carpenter, died Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2002, in Fort Stockton.
Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Cosme Ureta officiating. Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today at Fort Stockton Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at St. Joseph cemetery. Arrangements by Fort Stockton Funeral Home.
He was born in Fort Stockton. He was a Marines veteran. He was Catholic.
SURVIVORS: Mother, Sara Gomez of Fort Stockton; sisters, Rosella Ortega and Mary Granado, both of Fort Stockton, and Raquel Acosta of Midland; and brothers, Joe Gomez of Lubbock, Reynaldo Gomez and David Gomez, both of Fort Stockton.

Roger Hartwig
ODESSA — Roger Lee Hartwig, 58, of Odessa, a former Mobil Oil employee, died Monday, Sept. 30, 2002, at Medical Center Hospital.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
He was born in Monroe, Wis. He was a Navy veteran of the Vietnam War.
SURVIVORS: Wife, Martha Hartwig of Odessa; sons, Lee Hartwig of Goldsmith and Tim Hartwig of Odessa; mother-in-law, Colleen Palmer of Odessa; brothers, Mike Tschudy and Link Tschudy, both of Amarillo, and Nick Hartwig of Wisconsin; sister, Margaret Bull of Amarillo; and five grandchildren.

Anna Kelley
SEMINOLE — Anna Stone Kelley, 95, of Seminole, a former dress shop owner, died Sunday, Sept. 29, 2002, at Memorial Health Care in Seminole.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. today at Gaines County cemetery South in Seminole with the Rev. Robert Zap officiating. Arrangements by Boyer Funeral Home of Seminole.
She was born in Thorp Springs. She was Presbyterian.
SURVIVORS: Grandson, Steve Wilson of San Marcus; granddaughter, Stephanie Riggin of Lockhart; and two great-grandchildren.

Rush Locke
ODESSA — Rush Locke, 87, of Odessa, a reverse driller, died Sunday, Sept. 29, 2002, at his residence.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Chapel with the Rev. David Garrison officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
He was born in DeLeon. He was a Coast Guard veteran in World War II. He was a member of the Church of Christ.
SURVIVORS: Wife, Altha Locke of Odessa; son, Darl Locke of Flower Mound; daughter, Linda Whisenant of Odessa; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

ODESSA — John R. McGarrity, 67, of Odessa, died Monday, Sept. 30, 2002, at Medical Center Hospital.

Dorothy Parish
ODESSA — Dorothy "Dottie" Ervin Parish, 70, of Andrews, a licensed real estate agent, died Saturday, Aug. 24, 2002, at Hospice House in Odessa.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Open Door Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Larry Elder officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by McNett Funeral Home in Andrews.
She was born in Shamrock. She was a member of the Assembly of God church.
SURVIVORS: Husband, John R. Parish of Andrews; sons, William Robert "Bill" Ervin of Odessa and Andrew "Andy" Ervin of Andrews; daughter, Cathy Cavin of Lubbock; stepson, John T. Parish of Waco; stepdaughter, Leah Wells of Weslaco; brother, Rick Daffron of Clyde; sisters, Susan Payne of Odessa and Nancy Johnson of Potosi; seven grandchildren; six step grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a step great-grandchild.

BIG SPRING — Leonard T. "Buzz" Sawyer, 84, of Big Spring died Saturday, Aug. 24, 2002, at his residence.
