Anne Scott Agnew

SYKESVILLE, MARYLAND - Anne Scott Agnew, 79, of Sykesville, Maryland, and formerly of Dickinson, Texas, passed away on November 15, 2003.

She is survived by her husband of fifty-nine years, Robert K.T. Agnew; son William Agnew; daughter Laurie Thompson and husband Matt; son Daniel Agnew and wife Lisa; six grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Anne was an avid and accomplished golfer and tennis player and spent countless hours pursuing those interests with her husband and friends.

A memorial mass will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Sykesville, Maryland, at 1 p.m. on Saturday, December 6, 2003. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be made to the St. Joseph's Building Fund, St. Joseph Catholic Church, P.O. Box 384, Sykesville, M.D. 21784.

GALVESTON - Adam Lee Huey, 24, died November 26, 2003, at John Sealy Hospital in Galveston, Texas. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, December 5, 2003, at Memorial Park cemetery in Tyler, Texas. Visitation will be held Wednesday, December 3, 2003, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Carnes Brothers Funeral Home, 1201 Tremont, Galveston, Texas.

Adam was born July 10, 1979, to Ricky and Susan Jones Huey in Tyler, Texas. He attended Whitehouse High School in Whitehouse, Texas. He loved to fish, camp and was known as a great jokester. He enjoyed playing drums for the Renaissance Festivals all over Texas. He was a devout Christian always striving to lead a good clean life.

preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Jimmy Jones, Adam is survived by his mother, Susan Jones of Galveston; father, Ricky Huey and wife, Melody of Gilmer, Texas; sister, Lisa Huey of Galveston; brother, Ricky Huey, Jr. and Mackenzie Koch of Galveston; grandparents, John and Sue Bishop of Tyler and Sonny and Joann Hiett of Colorado; cousin, Brenna Stinecipher of Galveston; nephew, Kalen Huey of Galveston; stepbrother, Luke Kennon of Tyler; numerous other relatives and many friends.

Janice S. Smith

TEXAS CITY - Janice S. Smith, 79, passed away at her residence in Texas City, Texas. A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, December 3, 2003, at Forest Park East cemetery in Webster, Texas, with Mr. Richard Brand, officiating. Burial will follow services Wednesday at the cemetery.

Ms. Smith was born in Zephyrhills, Florida. For many years she was employed by Houston Lighting & Power Co., as an executive secretary, until such time that she retired.

Ms. Smith is preceded in death by her two sons, Richard and Marshall Turner; and also one of her siblings. She leaves behind one sister, Doris Ready of Florida and also her good friends. She will be sadly missed.

These services are being provided under the direction of Broadway Funeral Home, Galveston.

William Lorn Payette

FRIENDSWOOD - William Lorn Payette, 80, of Friendswood, passed away December 1, 2003, after a struggle with cancer. He proudly served his country in the U. S. Army. Bill retired from HISD after thirty-nine years of service and from Pennzoil after ten years of service.

He was preceded in death by his son, Alan Lee Payette and daughter, Linda Sue Payette Garcia.

Bill is survived by his loving wife, Gloria Armstrong Payette; daughter, Carol Payette; granddaughter, Monica; great grandson, Gerry; great granddaughter, Kristen; and numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

Visitation was held on Wednesday, December 3, 2003, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Corl's Family Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held in his honor on Thursday, December 4, 2003, at 11 a.m. at Forest Park East cemetery in Webster.

Sharon "Tiny" Goins Thompson Harvey

LA MARQUE - Ms. Sharon Goins Thompson Harvey departed this life on Thanksgiving day, November 27, 2003, at Mainland Medical Center in Texas City.

Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, December 5, 2003. There will be no wake. Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Saturday, December 6, 2003. Both services to be held in the Mainland Funeral Home Chapel in LaMarque. Rev. Thaddeus Brown, officiating. Burial will follow at Mainland Memorial cemetery in Hitchcock.

Sharon, the seventh child born to Edward Goins Sr. and Luberta Williams Goins, was born July 14, 1953, in Galveston, Texas. She was formerly employed at I-HOP. She is preceded in death by her parents,

She leaves to cherish her memories two sons, Roosevelt Harvey Jr. and Roberto Harvey; one granddaughter, Crystal Marie Dennis; sisters, Alma Morris, Estella Goins both of Hitchcock; Myrtle Carlisle of Galveston and Edna Hosea (Lonnie) of Texas City; brother, Edward Goins (Dorothy of Hitchcock; devoted friend, Shirley McAfee of Texas City; goddaughter, Vershanda Dixon; great-aunt, Sarah Branch of Huntsville; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family members and friends.

WEST TEXAS CITY - Mrs. Rosa Lee Burleson of Texas City went home to be with the Lord on Friday, November 28, 2003.

Visitation will be Friday, December 5, 2003, at the Mainland Funeral Home Chapel from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. A wake will be held from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday evening at Greater Bell Zion Baptist Church, 5917 Carver in Texas City. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, December 6, 2003, at Greater Bell Zion Baptist Church with Pastor Jerry B. Lee, Jr., officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Park East cemetery in Webster.

Rosa was born in Alleyton, Texas on July 16, 1919. She united with Green Grove Baptist Church in Alleyton, Texas where she accepted the Lord as her Savior. Rosa was united in marriage to the late Cleola "Jack" Burleson; to this union five children were born. Upon relocating to the Texas City area, Rosa united with the Greater Bell Zion Baptist Church where she was a faithful member until her health failed. She served on the Nurses Board and Mary Circle. She also served on the Order Of Eastern Star - Chapter 102 (Wharton, Texas) and was a Member to Galveston County Senior Citizen (Hitchcock).

Rosa was preceded in death by her parents, Tommie and Janie Bolden Carroll; daughter, Vera Jean Burleson; four sisters; three grandchildren; and one great-grand child.

Left to cherish precious memories are her daughters, Alma (Edward) Joiner, Sr. and Naomi (Crayton) Whitaker; sons, Daniel (Charlesetta) Burleson and Wendell (Ruth) Burleson; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, family and friends.

TEXAS CITY - Mrs. Linda Marie Wiltz Generous departed this life Wednesday, November 26, 2003 at her home.

Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Friday, December 5, 2003, followed by a wake from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, December 6, 2003. Both services to be held in the Mainland Funeral Home Chapel in La Marque. Burial will follow at Lake View cemetery in Galveston.

Linda, a homemaker, was born May 12, 1952, in Galveston to the Allen and Mary Lassigne Wiltz.

She leaves to cherish her memories her husband, Ken T. Generous of Texas City; children, Delicia and Maxine; sisters, Mary Francis of Hitchcock, Lincy Nellums, Cerenia Littles both of Texas City, Cleopatra Tripplett of Dickinson and Maxine Parson of La Marque; brothers, Rev. Robert Wiltz of Texas City; Cornelius Wiltz and Nathaniel Wiltz both of Galveston; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

Harry Lee Bayne

TIKI ISLAND - Harry Lee Bayne, 64, of Tiki Island, Texas passed away December 1, 2003. He was born in Houston, Texas, grew up in Friendswood, Texas and graduated from Friendswood High School in 1957. He attended the University of Houston. A prominent and respected businessman, Mr. Bayne founded and owned Bayne TV and Appliance, one of the oldest and most successful independent appliance company’s which has served the Texas market since 1967. He later founded Baco International a successful Import / Export company. He was an initial founder of First Prosperity Bank and served on the Board of Directors from 1983, to present. He also served on the board of directors of Remote Knowledge of Houston, Texas. Harry was an avid fisherman and enjoyed spending time with his wife and taking her to the movies. Harry was a husband, father, beloved grandfather, brother and friend to all.

Harry is survived by his wife, Penny Bayne of Tiki Island, Galveston; his sons, Randy Bayne and his wife, Megan of Friendswood, Texas, and Todd Bayne and his wife, Cynthia of Sugarland, Texas; his sister, Betty Totten of Houston, Texas; and four grandchildren, Courtney Bayne, Jordan Bayne, Josh Bayne and Cameron Bayne.

Pallbearers will be Randy Bayne, Todd Bayne, Tim Johnson, Marty Vogt, Kent Ballard, Afshin Sari, and Gene Schillaci. Honorary Pallbearers will be Josh Bayne and Cameron Bayne.

The visitation will be held Thursday, December 4, 2003, from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. at Friendswood Friends Church Chapel, 502 S. Friendswood Drive, Friendswood, Texas 77546, with Reverend Cynthia Payton officiating. The funeral service will be held Thursday, December 4, 2003, at 10 a.m. at the Friendswood Friends Church Chapel. Burial will follow at Friendswood Friends Church cemetery.
