Ted Quan

Services for Ted W. Quan, 85, of Lubbock will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in W.W. Rix Chapel with burial in Resthaven Memorial Park under direction of Rix Funeral Directors.

Quan died Monday, Feb. 15, 1999, in Covenant Medical Center.

He was born Nov. 14, 1913, in Canton, China. He married Kim Sen Mah in July 1937 in China. He moved to San Francisco in 1924, and he later moved to Albuquerque. He attended the University of New Mexico. In 1951, he moved to Lubbock, where he started the Ming Tree Restaurant. In 1958, he relocated the restaurant. He performed magic at the restaurant, and he was a member of the Texas Association of Magicians and International Brotherhood of Magicians. He retired in 1986. He was a member of the Lubbock Amateur Radio Club and Quarter Century Wireless Association.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Steve and Jay, both of Lubbock; a brother, Ray of Grand Junction, Colo.; a sister, May Yee of Topeka, Kan.; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

The family suggests memorials to the American Heart Association, 3403 73rd St., Suite 1, Lubbock 79423.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. today.

Ray Diaz

SLATON - Rosary for Ray Diaz, 36, of Slaton will be at 7:30 p.m. today at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.

Mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Larry Hemp officiating.

Burial will be at Englewood cemetery under direction of Calvillo Funeral Home.

He died Saturday, Feb. 27, 1999, at University Medical Center.

He was born Nov. 14, 1962, in Slaton. He married Josie Ramirez in 1991 in Slaton. He was a Catholic, a life-long resident of Slaton and a general laborer.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Ray Jr. and Anthony, both of Slaton, and Chris of San Angelo; two daughters, Virginia Diaz of San Angelo and Misty Ford of Slaton; his mother, Christine Diaz of Lubbock; three brothers, Rafael and Johnny, both of Slaton, and Robert of Lubbock; three sisters, Frances Ruiz and Louisa Garcia, both of Slaton, and Irene Gutierrez of Lubbock, and a grandchild.

Margrette Brady

LEVELLAND - Services for Margrette B. Brady, 61, of Sundown will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Fairview Baptist Church with the Rev. Glenn Reese, pastor, officiating.

Burial will be in Sundown cemetery under direction of Geo. C. Price Funeral Directors.

She died Wednesday, Feb. 24, 1999, in Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock.

She was born Aug. 26, 1937, in Oakdale, La. She moved to Sundown from Hobbs in 1975. She married Murrell Brady on March 6, 1954, in Oakdale, La. A son, Randall Brady, died in 1978. She was a homemaker and a member of Fairview Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband; two sons, Archie of Bradenton, Fla., and Quentin of Lubbock; two daughters, Irma Cameron of Sundown and Wanda Roberson of Levelland; a brother, Eugene Peters of Pineville, La.; three sisters, Joyce Funderburk of Alexandria, La., Ada Knopp of Edmond, Okla., and Judith Paul of Oakdale, La.; and seven grandchildren.

Mary Rosas

MULESHOE - Rosary Mary A. Rosas, 64, of Muleshoe will be said at 7 p.m. today at Ellis Funeral Home Chapel in Muleshoe. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Muleshoe with Father Joseph Augustine, pastor, officiating.

Burial will be in Muleshoe cemetery under the direction of Ellis Funeral Homes.

Rosas died Saturday, Feb. 27, 1999, at University Medical Center in Lubbock.

She was born June 11, 1934, in El Cerritto, N.M., and lived in Muleshoe most of her life. She married Fermin Rosas Aug. 7, 1957, in El Cerritto.

She was homemaker and member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Muleshoe.

She was preceded in death by a son, Habell, in 1997 and a daughter, Zeulema, in 1994.

Survivors include her husband; six sons, Fermin Jr. and Sammy of Friona, Carlos of Muleshoe, Paul of Hereford and David and Michael of Clovis, N.M.; four daughters, Sally of Muleshoe, Mary Ann Garcia of Anthony, N.M., Irene of Las Cruces, N.M., and Geronina Nora Ramos of Plainview; two sisters, Charlotte Chavez of Farwell and Rita Villanueva of Las Vegas, N.M., and 24 grandchildren.

Barney Crume

Services for Barney D. "Dick" Crume, 80, of Lubbock will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in W.W. Rix Chapel with the Rev. Ray Hamlin officiating.

Entombment will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in Memorial Park Mausoleum in Amarillo under direction of Rix Funeral Directors.

Crume died Tuesday, Feb. 16, 1999, at his residence.

He was born Feb. 13, 1919, in Boone County, Ark. He married Betty Crume in 1943, in Muskogee, Okla. She died Nov. 9, 1989. He moved to Lubbock in 1947. He played semi-professional basketball for several years. He was a military policeman in the U.S. Army during World War II. He worked for Western Windmill and he was the former owner of C&M; Supply in Lubbock.

Survivors include a daughter, Patricia Crume of Austin; three brothers, Kirt of Albuquerque, Charles Jr. of Orlando, Fla., and Bill of Columbus, Ga.; a sister, Mary Lou Taylor of Friona.

The family suggests memorials to a favorite charity.

Bobby Owens

Memorial services for Bobby Wayne Owens, 51, of Van Horn will be at 2 p.m. today in Monterey Church of Christ with David Martin officiating.

Memorial services will also be at 2 p.m. Sunday in First Baptist Church in Van Horn with the Rev. Vic Taylor officiating.

Cremation will be under direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.

Owens died Wednesday, Feb. 17, 1999, in Covenant Medical Center.

He was born Dec. 25, 1947, in Littlefield. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Van Horn. He was president of the Culberson County Livestock Association and vice president of the 4-H Adult Leaders.

Survivors include his wife, Cheryl of Van Horn; three daughters, Gayla Marie Owen of Comanche and Jennifer Del Owen and Amy Lynn Owen, both of Van Horn; two sons, Jason Matthew and Joshua Stephen, both of Van Horn; three brothers, Donald E. of Lubbock, Douglas of Rankin and Jerry of Abilene; a sister, Evelyn Rivers of Lubbock; and two grandchildren.

Isidro Robledo

SEMINOLE - Mass for Isidro Robledo, 60, of Kermit will be at 1 p.m. today in St. James Catholic Church with the Rev. John Casey officiating.

Burial will be in Gaines County cemetery South under direction of Boyer Funeral Home.

Robledo died Tuesday, Feb. 23, 1999, at his residence.

He was born Nov. 19, 1938, in Alpine County. He moved to Kermit from Seminole in 1980. He was a Catholic. He was a carpenter and fine mason.

Survivors include seven brothers, Marsiano, Rudy, Mike and Joe, all of Seminole, Jimmy of Hereford, Lorenzo of Kermit and Elisandro Jr. of Santa Maria, Calif.; three sisters, Velma Perez and Sally Robledo, both of Santa Maria, Calif., and Della Fierro of Kermit.

Thomas Coffman

Thomas H. Coffman, 96, a Lubbock resident since 1990, died Wednesday, Feb. 10, 1999, in a foster care home. His remains will be sent to Green Hills Mausoleum in Ranchos Palos Verde, Calif., for entombment.

He was a born May 15, 1902, in Weatherford. He was a Methodist and a retired railroad engineer for the Southern Pacific Railroad. He was married in Los Angeles in 1953, and his wife, Frieda, died in June 1984.

Survivors include four nephews and a granddaughter.

Memorials are suggested to Southcrest Baptist Church Building Fund, 3801 Loop 289, Lubbock 79423.

Florian Jarecki

FRIONA - Services for Florian Jarecki will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in First United Methodist Church in Friona with the Rev. Scott Blazek of Clovis, N.M., officiating.

Burial will be in the Friona cemetery under the direction of Ellis-Blackwell Funeral Home.

Jarecki died Sunday, Feb. 28, 1999, at Parmer County Community Hospital.

He was born Aug. 2, 1925, in Columbus, Neb.

He was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, in Friona, where he served as elder and congregation chairman.

He moved to Parmer County in 1956 from Platte Center, Neb. He married Lorraine Reiken on Nov. 28, 1947, in Omaha, Neb., and worked as a trucker and farmer in Parmer County.

He was preceded in death by a son, Lee, on Jan. 8, 1998; a great-grandson, Jordan Levario, on Dec. 26, 1995, and a brother, Edmund, in 1991.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Tom of Amarillo and John of Friona; three daughters, Debbie Johnson of Las Cruces, N.M., Pam Steward of Lamesa and Susie Burton of Evansville, Ind.; two brothers, Louis and Andrew, both of Platte Center, Neb.; two sisters, Dorothy Rosenthal of Platte Center, Neb., and Angie Gronenthal of Beatrice, Neb., 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the "Lutheran Hour" or a favorite charity.

Jan Browning

Services for Jan Browning, 70, of Lubbock will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Chris Sutton officiating.

Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park under direction of Franklin-Bartley Funeral Home.

She died Wednesday, Feb. 17, 1999, in Covenant Medical Center-Lakeside.

She was born May 12, 1928, in Quail. She married B.J. Browning on June 25, 1949, in Pittsburg. She graduated from Pittsburg High School. She received a bachelor's degree from Texas State College for Women. She was a homemaker, and she worked for the family business, Farmer's Gas and Oil in Paducah. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and the Esther Sunday School class.

Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Suzette Stanley of Lubbock and Kim Norman of Midland; a sister, Mary Patterson of Pittsburg; and eight grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials to the American Cancer Society, 3411 73rd St., Lubbock 79423, or to the Library and Building Funds of Calvary Baptist Church, 5207 82nd St., Lubbock 79424.

Thelma Callaway

Graveside services for Thelma "Mama Jim" Callaway, 94, of Lubbock will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Resthaven Memorial Park in Midland with Richard Edwards officiating.

Burial will be under the direction of Rix Funeral Directors of Lubbock.

She died Wednesday, Feb. 10, 1999, in Highland Hospital.

She was born Jan. 12, 1905, in Burrow. She had been a resident of Lubbock since 1971. She was employed for 20 years before retiring from Texas University Lands in Midland.

Survivors include three daughters, Bobbie Boyd of Lubbock, Billie Beck of Midland and Wynell Adams of Arizona; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials to Lubbock Meals on Wheels, 2304 34th St., Lubbock 79411.
