Jack Allen Harris

He was born Feb. 24, 1927 in Bartlesville, Okla. and passed away on June 3, 2007. Dr. Harris is preceded in death by sons David and Paul Harris and survived by wife Heidy Harris, daughters Ruthie Singer and Becky Andrus, and step-sons Marco and Daniel Fehlbaum.

He completed medical school at the University of Oklahoma and interned at East Tennessee Baptist Hospital in Knoxville. He practiced medicine in Hart and Dimmitt, Texas before relocating to DeSoto. Jack retired from the North Texas Clinic Assn. in 1992, and enjoyed visits from his 14 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Private graveside services will be held next week. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in his name to your favorite charity.

William Robert Bunton

Services for William Robert Bunton of Lubbock, Texas will be 11 a.m., Thursday, June 7th in St. Paul's on the Plains Episcopal Church, with the Rev. Dr. Steve Sellers officiating. A visitation will be today from 4-6 p.m. at Rix Funeral Directors, 1901 Broadway. Burial will be June 19th in Magdalena, New Mexico, where Bill was born Sept. 11, 1932. His parents, George and Oleta Bunton preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret Johnston Bunton of Lubbock; his daughters, Suzanne Bunton, Rebecca and husband Jeffrey Storms, and Caroline Bunton, all of the Dallas metro area; his son George Thomas and wife Natalie Bunton of New York City; and grandchildren Brian, Eric and Lindsay Storms; his brother, John M. and wife Sue Bunton of Georgetown; and two cousins, Nancy Archer of Albuquerque and Maxine Caldwell of Socorro.

Bill attended Texas A&M; and Texas Tech and was a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity. Recently, he owned a salvage business and windshield repair service in the Dallas area. Bill passed away June 4, 2007.

Lee Kitchens
Services for Lee Kitchens, 73, will be 10 a.m. Saturday, May 17, 2003, in Heritage Church of Lubbock with burial in Resthaven Memorial Park. Arrangements are under the direction of Englunds Funeral Service in Slaton. Mr. Kitchens died after a sudden illness Monday, May 12, at University Medical Center.

He was born March 29, 1930, in Fort Worth and graduated from Arlington Heights High School in Fort Worth. He graduated in 1955 from Southern Methodist University with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering. Lee began a distinguished career with Texas Instruments beginning as an intern in 1952 and continuing until his retirement in 1990. Throughout his career his work took him to numerous locations in the U.S. and abroad. Lees career involved work in semiconductor production and support, calculator design, production management, home computer production, and engineering management. From 1985 to 1990 Lee was on loan from TI to Texas Tech University where he taught as a visiting professor in the Department of Industrial Engineering. For the next two years he was industry professor for that department. Lee began in 1995 consulting and investigating electrical and electronic equipment involved in residential and commercial appliance fire investigation. Lee also distinguished himself in many humanitarian associations. He served two terms 1964-1968 as the National President of the Little People of America. He was presently serving as National VP of Membership and National Assistant to Finance for LPA. He established the LPAs national database, first adoption committee, the national newsletter, and district 8 in the LPA. He had been a voice and a presence along with others for LPA on Discovery and PBS educational programs. He was a representative for the International Growth Federation, representing individuals with growth disorders, and was one of 16 delegates from Texas to the White House conference on disabilities in 1978. He was a charter member in the founding of the Coalition of Texans with Disabilities in 1978 and served as President, Vice President and Treasurer. He was a 26-year member of the Human Growth Foundation, serving as a member of the board of directors, VP, and President from 1988 to 1991. Lee also distinguished himself in civil organizations. He was a two-term alderman and five-term mayor of Ransom Canyon and was still serving on the Building Control Committee. Lee held offices in local ham radio clubs and emergency communications agency in the Lubbock Amateur Radio Club, ARRL, ASM, Adir & SM WTX, and the Lubbock County RACES/ARES. He was also a licensed pilot. He served as an officer and director on the South Plains Food Bank, Breedlove Dehydration Plant, and Family Services of Lubbock. He was a member of the National Society of Professional Engineers, Texas Society of Professional Engineers, Institute of Industrial Engineers, and the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers. He received three patents in chemistry, physics and semiconductor systems, was recognized by the Texas Society of Professional Engineers as Engineer of the Year in 1978, and in 1988 received the George T. and Gladys Hanger Abell Faculty Award from Texas Tech University. He married Mary Bell Perryman in 1955. She preceded him in death in 1982. His daughter, Sandra Lynn Fennimore, preceded him in death in 1991, and son, Alan, on Nov. 9, 2000.

His survivors include three grandchildren, Rebekah Rose Kitchens of Ransom Canyon, and Teata Lin and Neiman Lee Fennimore, both of Scotts Mills, Ore.; a sister, Carol Harvard of Westlake Village, Calif.; a daughter-in-law, Donna Kitchens of Ransom Canyon; and two cousins, Pat Bunyard of Lubbock and Dave Sarles of Houston. The family will have visitation at the funeral home Friday, May 16, from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

Simona T. Gonzales

Graveside services for Simona T. Gonzales, 76, of New Deal will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, June 23, 2007, in Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park. Arrangements are under the direction of Sanders Funeral Home.

She passed away on June 16, 2007.

Simona Gonzales was born Oct. 8, 1930, in New Braunfels. She had been a resident of New Deal since 1950. She was a housekeeper for many years.

Survivors include two daughters, Betty Janssen and fiancÈ John Rose and Olga Hernandez and fiancÈ Tommy Lehman; a son, Joe Gonzales; a brother, Emilio Gonzales; a sister, Mary Delgado; eight grandchildren, Otto Jr. and wife Yvonne, Steven and wife Amy, Jennifer and husband Oscar, George Jr. and wife Crystal, Nicholas, Joe Jr., Emilio, and Rebecca; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Mary Jane Pesina

Rosary for Mary Jane Pesina, 50, of Lubbock will be Monday, June 16, at 7 p.m. at Calvillo Funeral Home Chapel. Mass will be Tuesday, June 17, at 11 a.m. at St. John Neumann Catholic Church with the Father Vick Wanjura and Msgr. Curtis Halfmann officiating.

Burial will be at Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park under direction of Calvillo Funeral Home of Lubbock. She died June 14, 2003, in Lubbock. She was born Feb. 8, 1953, in Ozona, Texas. She married John L. Pesina Jr. on Jan. 11, 1975, in Lubbock. She was a member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church.

Survivors include her husband of Lubbock; five daughters, Angela, Amanda, and Andrianna, all of Lubbock, June of Amarillo, and Tina of Austin; three sons, Jonathan and Jacob, both of Lubbock, and John Pesina Jr. of Amarillo; her mother, Frances Reynolds and stepfather Ray Reynolds, both of Ft. Worth; her father, Alfredo Delgado of Lubbock; five brothers, Angelo, Frank, Ray, and Dominico, all of Ft. Worth, and Alfredo Jr. of Lubbock; one sister, Victoria Lozano of Ft. Worth; and one grandchild.

James B. Green

James B. Green, 50, of Saco, Maine died Thursday, June 21, 2007, in Carthage, Maine. He was born Aug. 6, 1956, in Plattsburg, N.Y., the son of Boren Lynde and Madge Maurine Brown Green and was educated in Southern California and Lubbock Schools.

On Sept. 30, 2000, he married Lillian A. Bellegarde at Canada Falls in Greenville, Maine, the Great North Woods.

Mr. Green was a self employed carpenter and cabinet maker. He was a member of St. Margaret's Church, the Maine Sportsman's Alliance and the N.R.A..

Jim loved camping, hunting, fishing, bar-b-queing and all outdoor activities. He enjoyed spending time with family and his extended family, the Mondors and was well known for his trademark greeting, "Howdy".

Predeceasing him were his first wife, Nichole Mondor Green in 1998 and his son, Boren "Robby" Green in 1995.

Surviving are his wife, Lillian Adeline Bellegarde Green of Saco, Maine; one daughter, Lindsay Green of Limington, Maine; one son, Johnathan Green of Saco, Maine; one step-son, Nick Harriman of Waterboro, Maine; his father and step-mother, Boren L. and Betty Green of Lubbock; three brothers, Ralph Green of Lubbock, Doug Green of Denver, Colo., and Steve Green of Riverside, Calif.; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

There will be no visiting hours. A Memorial Mass and celebration of Jim's life will take place on Friday at 10 a.m. at St. Luke's Chapel in Old Orchard Beach, Maine. Burial will be in Laurel Hill cemetery in Saco, Maine. Arrangements are by Hope Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm Street, Biddeford, ME 04005. In keeping with his casual nature, the family requests casual attire be worn. They also request that in lieu of flowers, an apple tree be planted in Jim's memory.

Lula Burnett

Church service for Lula Burnett, 92, of Sudan, is scheduled for 2 p.m. today at Sudan Church of Christ, with Terry Wilson and Rex Boyles officiating. Burial will be in the Sudan cemetery.

Mrs. Burnett died Sunday, June 24, 2007, in the Lamb Healthcare Center in Littlefield. She was born March 28, 1915, in Clarita, Okla., to Robert L. and Mary Etta (Withrow) Gunn. She married Dail D. Burnett in Clovis, N.M. on Oct. 8, 1932. He preceded in her in death on Sept. 5, 1986. She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Loretta Burnett Reid on January 8, 2002. A son-in-law, Darwin; her parents; one sister, Zethel Bradshaw; and one brother, Hurshell Gunn also preceded her in death.

Mrs. Burnett had lived in this area since 1930. She formerly lived in Whitharral and Anton before moving to Sudan Jan. 1, 1934. She was a faithful member of the Sudan Church of Christ. She was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening, quilting, and cooking for all of her friends and family.

Survivors include two granddaughters, Suzanne Reid of Fort Worth and Jill Reid of Addison.

Mary Ann Humble Dameron

Mary Ann Humble Dameron, 65, of Midland was at home with her family and friends when she went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, June 24, 2007.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 27, 2007, at Fairmont Park Church of Christ, 3813 North Midland Drive in Midland, with Minister Don Mitchell officiating. Family will receive friends at the funeral home today, June 26, 2007, from 6 to 8 p.m. Graveside services will be 3 p.m. Wednesday, June 27, 2007, at McKinzieville cemetery, in Silver.

Pallbearers will be Sterling Jones, Taylor Jones, Dustin Baker, Karl Humble, Monty Humble, Glyn Jamison, Pryce McDonald, and Chris Humble.

She was born on Nov. 13, 1941, in San Angelo, to Elbert Humble and Patsy Haywood Humble. She graduated from Ropesville High School in 1959. She worked as Vice President of American Bank of Commerce in Wolfforth for 16 years. She moved to San Angelo in 1988 and worked as a loan officer for San Angelo Central Bank for 2 years. She moved to Midland in 1990 and married Frank Dameron on June 12, 1990, in Midland. She was a member of the Pink Ladies Auxiliary in Midland. She was a member of Fairmont Park Church of Christ in Midland. She was preceded in death by her husband on May 25, 2004 and her father in 1998.

She is survived by her son, Darry K. Jones of Merkel; two daughters, Alana Moore of Midland and Teresa Satterwhite and husband Melvin of Decatur; mother, Patsy Humble of Post; sister, Elaine Griffin and husband Forrest of Ralls; two brothers, Maxísl Humble and wife Sue of Snyder and Fred Humble and wife Vickie of Post; seven grandchildren, Sterling Jones of Abilene, Taylor Jones of Amarillo, Dustin Baker of Lubbock, and Kalli Moore of Lorenzo, James Satterwhite and wife Jamie, Natalie Floyd and husband Phillip, and Bonnie Satterwhite, all of Decatur; and four great-grandchildren, Ryan and Radley Jones of Abilene, and Madeleine and Chloe Floyd of Decatur.

The family would like to thank Dr. Karen Carr and her staff and Hospice of Midland for their excellent care.

Demetrio Macias

Demetrio Macias of Abernathy passed away on Sunday, June 24, 2007, at the age of 73.

He was born on Dec. 20, 1933, in Mexico, to Faustino Macias and Lola (Martinez) Macias. He moved to Idalou and in 1965 he moved to Abernathy. Demetrio married Guadalupe Leal in 1959 in Lubbock. He worked as a farmer and was a member of the Primera Iglesia Bautista in Petersburg.

Demetrio was preceded in death by his parents; his wife in 2001; a daughter, Elodia Macias in 1963; and sister, Anita Macias.

Those left to cherish his memory are his sons, Rogelio Gonzales of Idalou, Faustino Macias, and David Macias, both of Abernathy; daughters, Sally Avila and Lola Macias, both of Lubbock, and Christina Lopez of Abernathy; 22 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; and brother, Victor Macia of Mexico.

A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. today, June 26, 2007, at White Memorial Chapel. A celebration of life service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 27, 2007, at One Cross Three Nails in Abernathy, with Rev. Emilio Sauceda officiating. Demetrio will lie in state at One Cross Three Nails from 10 a.m. on Wednesday, June 27, 2007, until service time. Interment will follow in Abernathy cemetery.

Arrangements are under the personal care of White Funeral Home of Lubbock.

Nathaniel Biera

A graveside committal service for Nathaniel Biera, infant son of Norma and Daniel Biera of Lubbock, will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 27, 2007, in Englewood cemetery and under the direction of Englunds Funeral Service in Slaton. Nathaniel was born March 4, 2007, in Lubbock and passed from this life Sunday, June 24, 2007.

His survivors include his parents; brothers, Nicholas Villanueva and Manuel Biera, both of Lubbock and Nicholas Biera of Amarillo; sister, Danielle Biera of Lubbock; maternal grandparents, Rachel Reyes of Slaton and Patricio and Valentina Reyes of Arlington; paternal grandparents, Daniel and Gloria Biera of Lubbock; and paternal great-grandmothers, Connie Carmona of Lubbock and Hilaria Medina of Sacramento, Calif.
