Alcario "Chayo" Garcia

Funeral services for Alcario "Chayo" Garcia, 63, of Lubbock will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 23, 2007 at St. Josephís Catholic Church with Father Martin PiÒa officiating.

Rosary will be on Wednesday, Nov. 21st and Thursday, Nov. 22, 2007 at 7 p.m. at Guajardo Funeral Chapels.

Burial will be at Peaceful Gardens cemetery under the direction of Guajardo Funeral Chapels. He died on Sunday, Nov. 18, 2007 at University Medical Center.

He was born in Brownsville, Texas. He married Maria "Mary Lou" Gaytan on Aug. 4, 1961 in Rupert, Idaho. He was preceded in death by his parents Antonio and Jesusa Santellana Garcia his brothers: Manuel and Mingo Garcia, sister: Petra Garcia.

Mr. Garcia was employed at Diamond Plastics for 39 years. His favorite hobbies were watching WWF, football and playing pool. He enjoyed helping people, working on cars, traveling to "El Valle". He was a big comedian and storyteller. Mr. Garcia enjoyed working and instilled the same work ethic in his children. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle. He will be truly missed.

Survivors include his wife Mary Lou Garcia; four daughters, Marina and Mary Lou Garcia of Lubbock, Suzy and Socorro Garcia of San Antonio; two sons, Alcario Jr. and Ismael Garcia of Lubbock; two brothers, Guadalupe and Antonio Garcia both of Lubbock; two sisters, Guadalupe Garcia of Brownsville, Texas, and Librada Garcia of Stockton, Calif.; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be: Alcario Garcia Jr., Mimo Garcia, Jaime Torrez, Longino Garcia, Martin Garcia Sr., Jacob Acosta, Michael Piseno and Raul Perez Jr.

The family suggests memorials to Catholic Charities.

Rhea Campbell

Graveside services for Rhea Campbell, 88, of Lubbock will be at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2007 at the Crosbyton cemetery with Rev. Mark Paul officiating. Arrangements are under direction of Adams Funeral Home of Crosbyton.

Rhea passed away Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2007 at University Medical Center in Lubbock. He was born Sept. 26, 1919 in Itasca in Hill County, Texas to the late J. M. and Lena (Rhea) Campbell. On May 25, 1940 he married LaFreda Raye Benton in Lubbock. She preceded him in death on April 10, 1988.

He owned and operated Campbell Dry Goods in Crosbyton for 30 years. Rhea served for 25 years as chief of the Crosbyton Volunteer Fire Department and served for 12 years as Commander of the Crosbyton American Legion. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the Seabee unit of the US Navy.

He is preceded in death by two brothers, Clay and Johnny and three sisters, Neva Fralin, Vivian Buckley and Lucille Davis.

Survivors include two daughters, Sharon Schuler and Vicki Arrington both of Lubbock; four grandchildren, Jim Pierce, Carolyn Bowren, Teri Maxson and Kenneth Kendrick; six great grandchildren, Lauren Pierce, Lee Pierce, Kate James, Tyler James, Rylie Forbes and Michael Maxson.

Jordan Boydstun

Memorial services for Jordan Boydstun, 19, of Lubbock will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Indiana Avenue Baptist Church with the Rev. Mark Proctor officiating.

Private burial will precede services.

Arrangements are under the direction of Rix Funeral Directors of Lubbock.

He died Thursday, July 11, 2002.

He was born June 3, 1983, in Bossier City, La., and attended All Saints Episcopal School, where he played football and basketball. He graduated from Lubbock High School in 2001. He was attending Texas Tech University as a pre-med student. He did lawn work and also worked at Seahorse Swimming School and Avante'.

He was an officer of the LHS newspaper and a member of The National Junior Honor Society, Student Council and Young Entrepreneurs of Lubbock. He was on the varsity tennis team and active in the Young Life Organization. He also was involved in Torenthal's Crew, Youth Leadership, Who's Who, Pre-Professional Society, Second Baptist Youth Group and the Child's Lures Program. He was a honor roll student and involved in U.S.T.A. Tennis. He was a member of Indiana Avenue Baptist Church.

Survivors include his mother, Ginger of Lubbock; his father, Jack of Orlando, Fla.; his grandparents, Johnny and Kitty Murray of Pleasant Hill, La., and Bernice Boydstun of Natchitoches, La.

Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to Young Life, 1220 Broadway Suite 1805, Lubbock, TX 79401.

Christopher Pereida

CROSBYTON - Services for Christopher Pereida, 20, of Lubbock were at 4 p.m. Friday at Crosbyton Church of Christ with Joe Keyes officiating.

Burial was in Crosbyton cemetery under the direction of Adams Funeral Home in Crosbyton.

He died Thursday, Aug. 31, 2000.

He was born Aug. 31, 1980.

He was a 1998 graduate of Crosbyton High School. He attended Crosbyton Church of Christ and South Plains College in Levelland. He had lived in the Crosbyton area most of his life.

Survivors include his parents, Joel Pereida of Crosbyton and Kim Hargrove of Lubbock; a sister, Marci Kay Pereida of Lubbock; his maternal grandmother, Tajuhanna Hargrove of Crosbyton; his paternal grandparents, A.L. and Maria Pereida of Crosbyton; and his paternal great-grandmother, Petra Garza of San Antonio.

Max B. Alvarado

Maximino Banda Alvarado, 88, of Lubbock went to be with his Lord and Savior, Thursday July 13, 2006 in Lubbock.

Max was born May 29, 1918 in Victoria, Mexico to the late Magdaleno and Maria Lousia (Banda) Alvarado. As an infant he moved to Clairemont with his family. He attended Clairemont Schools where he ran track, did pole-vaulting, played baseball and did boxing. Later, he was awarded a baseball scholarship that he rescinded to stay at home and help his family. He married Leonor (None) Chavez, Dec. 4, 1937 in Clairemont She preceded him in death, Jan. 19, 1985. He was a self-employed farmer for over 50 years farming in the Clairemont, Spur, New Home and Smyer areas. He was honored as a farmer and was exempt from WWII. He was a member of Colgate Church of Christ.

Max is preceded in death by his only daughter, Guadalupe Flores, May 24, 2006 and also seven brothers and two sisters.

Surviving Mr. Alvarado are his son-in- law, Domingo Flores; grandchildren, Pete and Irene Escamilla, Diana and Ceferino Rodriguez, and Betty and Reuben Valdez; great- grandchildren, Max, of McKinney, Geneva and John Escamilla, Lisa Ochoa, David Ramirez, Ashley and Levi Valdez; great-great grandchildren, Alexis, Dante, Sean, Obadiah, Chloe, Austin and Autumn Escamilla, Venancio, Gabriel and Daniel Vargas; two brothers, Pete of Kennedale and Ramon of Arlington and one sister Lousia Carillo of Rotan.

The service will be at 10 a.m., Monday July 17, 2006, at Colgate Church of Christ at 2603 Colgate. There will be a prayer service at Resthaven Funeral Home Saturday July 15, 2006, at 7 p.m.

Alan "Kent" Potts

Alan "Kent" Potts went home to be with his Maker on Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2007, at a local hospital. He was 45 years old.

Funeral services will be today at 2 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Abilene, 202 Butternut. Graveside services will follow at the Potosi cemetery, under the direction of The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road, Abilene, Texas. Kent was born on Jan. 3, 1962, in Lubbock, to his wonderful parents, Emory and Mary Potts. He graduated from Monterrey High School in 1980 where he was a shining athlete winning numerous awards in football and baseball. After many years of working in the food business with Furr's Corporation and Marriott services, Kent pursued his love of nature and began his landscaping and irrigation business, BC Lawn and Landscaping. He had been in business for over 10 years.

Kent had a magnetic personality and love for life. If you met him, you liked him. He had a knack for making people feel special and loved his family and children with all of his heart. Kent often told people, "I can do two things and that's making things grow and cooking". He did both very well. If he wasn't outside making things beautiful, he was inside cooking something delicious. He cooked every opportunity he could and especially loved cooking for family gatherings. Kent was an amazing Christian man; a loving son; a fun brother; an incredible husband and dedicated dad. The absence in our hearts is great but our joy for him being with his Lord is greater.

Kent is survived by his wife and son, Jennifer and Brycen Potts of Clyde; a son, Blane Potts and daughter, Shelby Potts of Lubbock; his parents, Emory and Mary Potts of Lubbock; brother, Keith and wife LeJae Potts of Lubbock; and brother, Craig and wife Paula Potts of Lubbock. Kent was a fun and Loving uncle to six nieces and four nephews. He also had numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who will miss him tremendously.

Memorials may be made to the Potosi cemetery Association, 109 Bynum Lane, Abilene, Texas 79602 or Love and Care Ministry, 233 Fannin, Abilene, Texas 79602.

Johnny A. Page

Services for Johnny A. Page, 77, of Lubbock will be 4 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 6, 2005, at Calvillo Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bonnie Brannan officiating. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 7, at Dixie cemetery in Whitesboro with the Rev. Harold Watson officiating. Burial will be under the direction of Calvillo Funeral Home of Lubbock.

He died Sunday, Oct. 2, in Lubbock.

Mr. Page was born April 26, 1928 in Crews. He moved to Lubbock from Rhome and on Sept. 18, 1971, he married Martha Dyer in Lubbock. He was a Baptist. A son, Jimmy Calk, preceded him in death in 1982.

Survivors include his wife of Lubbock; two sons, David Burrel of Alabama, and Johnathon Page of Lubbock; four daughters, Becky Thompson of Wolfforth, Loretta Crisp of Springton, Melissa Miller of Pennsylvania, and Lisa Huntsman of Lubbock; a brother, Floyd Page of Merkel; 21 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

The Family will receive family and friends from 6 to 8 p.m tonight at the funeral home.

Kathleen Oyerbides

Kathy Oyerbides passed away Sunday, Oct. 2, 2005, at her home in Lubbock, and she now resides in the presence of the Lord.

Private family services were held Tuesday, Oct. 4, at Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park in Woodrow.

She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Fidel; daughters, Teresa and Laura; son, John; son-in-law, Ramiro; and grandchildren, Amanda, Matthew and Courtney.

For 62 years, her kindness graced the lives of many. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
