Keith James Imke

Keith James Imke, 37, died Jan. 1, 2008, following a courageous battle with a rare form of pulmonary fibrosis. Memorial services are scheduled for 11 a.m., Thursday, Jan., 3rd at Sanders Funeral Home, with Ken Barr officiating.

Imke was born Feb. 2, 1970, to Frank and Barbara Imke. He graduated from Monterey High School in 1988, and continued to make Lubbock his home. Keith loved driving a tow truck for RP's Heavy Duty Towing with Chihuahua, "Baby" on his shoulder.

The family is grateful for the incredible support of a band of friends and family who supported him faithfully through these last few months of illness. Survivors include his cherished daughter, Echo Paige Imke, of Lubbock; his parents, Frank and Susan Imke, of Fort Worth; sisters, Sherry Bice, of Azle, and Missy Doggett, of North Richland Hills; aunt, uncle and cousins, David, Gail Aileen, Christopher, and Jason Bentley, in whose home he was graciously cared for in recent months; and the extended Imke and Bentley families.

Many thanks to Vistacare Hospice for their care. Memorial donations are suggested to the Disabled American Veterans, Chapter 44, 7414 - 83rd, Wolfforth, TX 79382.

Lois Freeman Jones

Lois Freeman Jones, 95, of Floydada left this world to be with her Lord on Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2008.

She was born to John R. and Laura (Stone) Freeman on May 19, 1912 in Gunter, Texas. She graduated from Gunter High School and later graduated from Texas Tech University in 1932. She earned her Masters degree from Tech in 1933. She taught Spanish, Latin, and English at Floydada High School for several years. She married Dorris W. Jones on July 30, 1935, and their daughter, Linda, was born in 1939.

She was a long-time devoted member of the West Side Church of Christ. Her hobbies were gardening, reading her Bible, and enjoying her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Dorris, and her daughter, Linda Gay Jones Heflin.

Surviving family members are her sister, Jean Caddell, of Waxahachie; three grandchildren, Shawnda Greer and husband, Bart, of Floydada; Rick Heflin and wife, Brenda, of Floydada; and LaDonna Ellison, of Lubbock; six great-grandchildren, Tate and Blake Greer, Ty and Reagan Heflin, and Whitney and Lacey Ellison; a great-great grandchild, Bailey; and her son-in-law Rob Heflin and his wife, Edna, of Plainview.

Lois requested her body to be donated to research. The family will host an informal memorial service to be held on Thursday, Jan. 3, 2008 at 6 p.m. at Moore-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Floydada. Visitation will follow.

The family suggests memorials be made to the West Side Church of Christ, Route 2 Box 172, Floydada, TX 79235; the Floydada EMS, 109 N. Main, Floydada, TX 79235; or the Multiple Sclerosis Society, 1031 Andrews HWY, Suite 201, Midland, TX 79701.

Services are under the direction of Moore-Rose Funeral Home of Floydada.

Louise Ann Gomez

A ceremony celebrating Louise Ann Gomez's 89 years of life will be today at 11 a.m. at Lake Ridge Chapel with a committal service at Prairie Haven cemetery at 3 p.m. MST in Hobbs, N.M. Following a lengthy battle with Alzheimers disease, Mrs. Gomez left the world to be with the Lord on Saturday, Dec. 29, 2007.

She was born to Frank Pasqua D'Aniello Debitetto on April 20, 1918 in Barre, Vt. She graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School in Brooklyn, N.Y. She received a B.A. Degree in Education from Manhattanville College of the Sacred Heart in New York. Louise married the love of her life, John Joseph "Jack" Gomez from Prospect Connecticut. They married on May 25, 1945 in Capitan, N.M. They resided in Hobbs, N.M. where they raised their two children. She devoted her life to being a loving wife, homemaker, mother, and grandmother. They were married for 43 years before Jack's death in 1987. In 1995, Louise moved to Lubbock, to be cared for during her battle with Alzheimer's disease.

Louise had been an active member of St. Helena's Catholic Church and held numerous offices in the Women's Civic Club of Hobbs. She had a love of gardening, singing, playing the piano, crocheting, and cooking Italian food. In her life, she had received many awards for gardening, flower arranging, and recipe contests. She was active in Girl Scouting and was a District Chairman for the Area Counsel in Hobbs. Louise taught in Capitan and Hobbs Public Schools. She was a wonderful supporter of her husband, Jack, and his contributions to the National Soaring Foundation.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Lynda Kay Grimsley, of Lubbock, and daughter-in-law, Connie Lynn Gomez, of Las Cruces, N.M.; grandchildren, Holly D'Ann Davila, of Lubbock, Kyle David Grimsley and spouse, Kiley, of Lubbock, Poppy Ann Stokes and spouse, Rob of Wylie, Texas, Cody John Grimsley, of Lubbock, John Michael Gomez, of Las Cruces, N.M., and LeAnne Michelle Gomez of Las Cruces, N.M. She is also survived by her siblings, Mary Helene Nolan, of Columbus, Ohio, John Michael Debitetto, of Worthington, Ohio, and Frank Debitetto, of Blacklick, Ohio. She was preceded in death by one son, Michael Louis Gomez of Las Cruces, N.M.; her husband, John Joseph "Jack"; and both of her parents.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Garrison Geriatric Education and Care Center, 3710 4th St., Lubbock, TX 79415

Miguel R. Tijerina

Rosary for Miguel R. Tijerina, 76, of Lubbock will be held on Thursday at 7 p.m. at Sanders Funeral Home Chapel. Mass will be celebrated on Friday, Jan. 4, 2008 at 2 p.m. at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church with Father David Cruz officiating. Burial will follow at Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park under the direction of Sanders Funeral Home.

Miguel died on Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2008. He was born May 23, 1931 in Los Ebanos, Texas.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Maria Tijerina; ten children, Estella Tijerina, Gloria Guerrero, Elvia Hernandez, Annie Hernandez, Elizabeth (Veti) Maldonado, Orlando Tijerina, Sammie Montemayor, Niria Tijerina, Delia Tijerina, Michael Tijerina, Jr.; 37 grandchildren; 83 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; three brothers, Jesus Tijerina, Cruz Tijerina and Frank Tijerina; and two sisters, Maria Davila and Elubinia Sampayo.

Pallbearers will be Ricky Reyes, Raul Hernandez III, Miguel Guerrero, Joe Maldonado, Jr., Orlando Tijerina, Jr., and Robert Cerda, Jr.

Ramiro Mito Ramirez Jr.

Memorial services for Ramiro "Mito" Ramirez Jr., 55, of Lubbock, will be 10 a.m. Friday, at Calvillo Funeral Home with Father Martin Pina officiating. Cremation will be under the direction of Calvillo Funeral Home.

Ramiro died on Dec. 29, 2007. He was born on Aug. 17, 1952 in Mathis, Texas to Ramiro Sr. and the late Raquel Ramirez (June 19, 2000). Ramiro attended Lubbock Schools. He was a concrete layer by trade and a Catholic. Ramiro enjoyed music and playing pool was his passion.

He is survived by a son, James Ramirez, of Levelland; three daughters, Rene Flores, Rachel Ramirez, and Anna Reina, all of Levelland; his father Ramiro Sr. and his step-mother, Amelia Ramirez, both of Lubbock; six brothers Herberto, Romeo, Renaldo, all of Lubbock, Reymundo, of Dallas, Roberto and Rene, both of San Antonio; four sisters, Adrianna Martinez, of Floresville, Alicia Alonzo, of Rome, Pennsylvania, Ameli Mendez and Maria Elena Ramirez Barboza, both of Lubbock; three grandchildren; 27 nieces and nephews; 11 great nieces and nephews.

Sandy Pena

Our beloved mother, sister, and beloved friend, Sandy Pena, 44, of Lubbock, left us to be one of God's children on Dec. 31, 2007. She was born Oct. 11, 1963 to Teodoro and Simona Pena.

Those left to cherish her memory are her parents, Teodoro and Simona Pena, of Lubbock; three sons, David Valdez, Jr., Jonathan Vega, and Elias Vega, all of Lubbock; one daughter, Angel Ann Escamilla, of Lubbock; four grandchildren; three brothers, Teodoro Pena, Jr., Pedro Pe?a, Jose Pena, all of Lubbock; six sisters, Alma Pe?a, of Fort Worth; Armandina Salazar, of Dallas, Norma Mata, Janie Pena, of Fort Worth, Virginia Salazar, of Lubbock, and Eva Jaso, of Lubbock.

Sandy was preceded in death by one grandchild.

Rosary services will be held at 7 p.m., on Jan. 3, 2008 at the White Memorial Chapel in Lubbock.

Celebration of Life Services will be held at 2 p.m., on Jan. 4, 2008 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, in Lubbock, with Celebrant Father Martin Pi?a. Interment will follow in Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park in Woodrow.

Virginia McKinney

Virginia McKinney was born in Webster Parish, La., on Feb. 5, 1916, to William C. McKinney and Carolyn Hilman McKinney. She passed away on Dec. 17, 2007 at the age of 91. Virginia McKinney graduated from Louisiana State Normal College in Natchitoches, La., with an English degree. She then taught high school English and History and was in charge of the Library in several public schools in Louisiana. During World War Two, she also taught classes in General Science and Biology. Virginia continued her education at Louisiana State University where she graduated with a Masters Degree in Library Science. She was employed as a Fine Arts Librarian at Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, for a few years and later was employed as a librarian at the Air Force Base in Amarillo, and then, at Reese Air Force Base in Lubbock. Virginia loved music and reading. Miss McKinney attended the St. Paul's Episcopal Church.

She was preceded in death by both of her parents and by her three brothers, Harold Hilman McKinney, William C. McKinney, Jr., and James C. McKinney, Sr., and by her sister-in-law, Nevin McKinney. She is survived by two sisters-in-law, Mrs. James C. McKinney, of Fort Worth, and Mrs. William C. McKinney, Jr., of Shreveport, La.; and by ten nephews and their families. Memorials may be made in Miss McKinney's memory to the Children's Home of Lubbock. No services are scheduled at this time.

Wanda Leah Alderson

Wanda Leah Alderson, our adored mother and grandmother, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2008 in Lubbock. Services will be at 10 a.m., Friday, Jan. 4, at Resthaven's Abbey Chapel, officiated by Dr. Harvie Pruitt. Interment will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park.

Wanda was born to Rufus and Fyloma Jordan on Feb. 17, 1925 in Groom, Texas. She married Van Alderson on March 20, 1948. They were married for 49 years before his death in 1997. Wanda was a member of Sunset Church of Christ.

Wanda devoted her life to being a farmer's wife and raising her two children. She loved decorating her home, painting, and serving her family. She loved to entertain and her door was always open. There was hardly a night in the Alderson home that friends and family didn't drop by to visit or watch a game. One of her greatest joys in life was her weekly visits and card games with her four sisters. She adored her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and considered her son and daughter-in-law her own.

Those left to cherish her memory are her two children: son, Craig and wife, Diane Alderson, of Smyer, daughter, Tammie and husband, Greg Dubose, of Lubbock; her grandchildren, April and Jack Ammons, of New Deal, Summer and Shane Shepherd, of Lubbock, Kim Alderson and fianc?, Tad Goeger, of Dallas, and Kade Simmons, of Lubbock; three great-grandchildren, Aubrey and Jacey Ammons, and Mai Shepherd; four sisters, Jeanne Mimms, of Lubbock, Wilma Mimms, of Lubbock, JoAnn Stroope, of Cotton Center, and Donna Hjalmer, of Lubbock. She was preceded in death by her brother, Ondal Jordan, of Smyer.

Visitation for friends and family will be Thursday, Jan. 3, from 6 to 8 p.m., at Resthaven Funeral Home.

Family requests memorial donations to the Children's Home, P.O. Box 2824, Lubbock, TX 79408.

Vivian Bunton Jamison

Vivian Bunton Jamison, 83, of Ft. Worth, died Friday, Dec. 28, 2007. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, 2008, at Ebenezer Baptist Church (1010 E. 10th St.), in Austin, with Dr. Marvin C. Griffin, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Assumption cemetery, Austin. The family will greet visitors 1 - 8p.m. Thursday, at Baker Funeral Home Chapel, in Ft. Worth, and 1 - 8 p.m. Friday, at King - Tears Mortuary, in Austin.

Ms. Jamison was born May 5, 1924 in Buda, Texas. She was a retired teacher for the Austin Independent School District.

Her survivors include daughters, Vicky Simms-Leonard (Wilford), of Austin, and Vanessa Merle Jamison; step-daughters, Charlotte Jamison and Yvonne Jami-son-Taylor, of Lubbock; brothers, James Bunton (Charlie), Chauncy Bunton, and Jessie R. Bunton (Sandra), all of Austin; sisters, Lois Bunton-Sidle, and Theresa Bunton-Robinson (Burnham), of Ft. Worth; and granddaughter, Vivian Leonard, of Austin; and other relatives and friends.
