CLAIRE JOY LUTHER FINDLEY

Funeral services for Claire Joy Luther Findley, 75, of Tilden, Tx. were held Aug. 22, 2005 at First United Methodist Church in Palacios. Internment was at Palacios cemetery. Mrs. Findley on Jan. 29, 1930 to the late Elsie and Charles Luther. She died Aug. 17, 2005 in Tilden. Following the death of her parents, she took over operation of the Luther Hotel in Palacios. She is survived by her husband, jack Findley, of Tilden; daughter Louise Dilworth Davis and husband Tom of San Antonio; four grandchildren in San Antonio; brother Charles Luther and wife Donna Rose of Katy, Tx.; aunt Marian Callaway Perkins and husband Sam of San Marino, CA.; and well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Colwell Dilworth; and sons James Colwell Dilworth and Randolph Mason Dilworth. Arrangements were with Hurley Funeral Home in Pleasanton, Tx.

MARILYN 'ASH' WILSON

Funeral services for Marilyn "Ash" Wilson, 63, of Palacios, were held Aug. 15, 2005 at the First Baptist Church in Palacios with Rev. Hollas Hoffman officiating. A graveside funeral service was held at Gonzales Masonic cemetery in Gonzales, Tx. Mrs. Wilson was born March 4, 1942 in Baytown, TX to the late Herman and Ruth Marie Burns Ash. She died Aug.t 10, 2005 at Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston, TX. Mrs. Wilson was a member of the First Baptist Church in Palacios, a resident of Palacios the past 2-1/2 years and a former longtime resident of Dallas. She was a member of the Palacios Chamber of Commerce, Palacios Area Historical Association and a board member beginning in 2005, incoming Athena Club president, and Century Club member of Friends of the Palacios Library. She organized the Red Hat Ladies, was a volunteer at the Palacios Community Medical Center and was a school mentor. She is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law: Ranelle Fowler of Dallas, TX, Eve and John Watson of Woodstock, GA, and Sarentha and Rob Kessler of Palacios; step-son Greg Wilson of Austin; step-daughter Amy Wilson both of Austin, TX; brother Paul Ash of Baytown, TX; and six grandchildren: Jake Wilson of Takoma Park, MD, Audry, Timothy and Daisy Kessler all of Palacios, and Matthew and Hanna Watson of Woodstock, GA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald E. Wilson. Pallbearers were David Harrup, Boogie Davis, Wayne Dodd, Charles Bailey, Don Landry, Rodney Girndt, Jake Wilson and Dale Seaman. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church, Palacios, TX 77465. Arrangements with Palacios Funeral Home, Palacios, TX (361)972-2012.

FAY MARIE POHL HARR

Funeral services for Fay Marie Pohl Harr, 72, of Palacios, Tx., were held Aug. 11, 2005 at the Palacios Funeral Home with Rev. Don Storey officating. Graveside services were held Aug. 12 at Brownsville Memorial Gardens cemetery in Brownsville, Tx. Mrs. Harr was born Sept. 23, 1932 in Fort Worth, TX to the late Lee William and Dicy Marie Wilson Pohl. She went to be with the Lord after a lengthy illness on Aug. 9, 2005 at the Palacios Healthcare Center in Palacios. Fay Marie was a longtime resident of Palacios and Brownsville, Tx. She grew up and went to school in Brownsville, participating there in the nationally recognized marching band. Music retained a special place in her life for many years afterward. She was a public school teacher, a homemaker, and helped operate a small business with her husband. She is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law, Terri Curtis, Sherri and Greg Seaman all of Palacios; Cindy and Mark Krause of Olivia, Tx; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Thomas Lee and Barbara Harr of LaFeria, Tx, and Charles Harr of Brownsville, Tx; brothers Lee Wayne Pohl of Eureka Springs, AR, and Marshall Pohl of Harlingen, Tx; grandchildren Melanie Harr and Susan Harr both of McAllen, Tx, Heather Curtis of Brownsville, Kristan Harr of Palacios, Jon Barron of Lake Jackson, Tx, Leslie Barron and Kevin Krause both of Port Lavaca, and Kyle and Zachary Seaman both of Palacios; and great-granddaughter Calista Harr of McAllen, Tx. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 2909 W. Holcombe Blvd., Houston, TX 77025-9992 or to the Gideon's Memorial Fund. Arrangements with Palacios Funeral Home, Palacios, TX (361) 972-2012.

MARY LUCIO

Funeral services Mary Lucio, 48, of Wadsworth, were held Aug. 10, 2005 at Rhema Fellowship in Bay City with the Rev. Dan Villereal officiating. Interment was at Evergreen cemetery in Wharton. She was born Sept. 13, 1956 in Wharton to Juanita Pecina Pena and the late Luciano Pena. She was called by our Heavenly Father on Aug. 7, 2005. She had many passions in her life including singing and dancing. She fulfilled many dreams during her short stay on this earth. One of her biggest passions in life was her grandchildren, Andrew and Allyson Lucio who she will be greatly missed by. Her family was her world, but the biggest passion of all was her love for the Lord Jesus Christ. She is survived by her beloved husband, Joe Lucio, Sr.; sons Joey Lucio and wife Shauna, of Markham, and Steven Lucio of Bay City; and daughter Desi Reed and husband, Jeff, of Bay City. She was preceded in death by her father, Luciano Pena; and father-in-law Abel Balli Lucio. Pallbearers were John Pena, Ernest Pena, Eugene Pena, Abel Lucio, Gilbert Lucio and Johnny Lucio.

FRANK (Sonny) CHARLES KRUSE

Graveside services for Frank "Sonny" Charles Kruse, 80, of Palacios, were Aug. 10, 2005 at Palacios cemetery with Rev. Robert LeBlanc officiating. Mr. Kruse was born Aug. 26, 1924 in Yoakum, Tx. to the late John William Franklin and Sadie Mae DeDear Kruse. He died Aug. 6, 2005 at Palacios Health Care Center. Sonny was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Palacios and a life-long resident of Palacios. He serviced in the U. S. Air Force during WWII and the Korean War. He is survived by two sons, Willie Kruse of Brazoria, Tx. and Robert Kruse of Taylor, Tx.; brothers James Kruse and Clarence Kruse of Palacios; granddaughter Tanya Lie; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sister, Cora LaVerne Edwards, and his brother, Weldon Roy Kruse. Arrangements were with Palacios Funeral Home.

LYDIA MARKWARDT WICKHAM ADKINS

Funeral services for Lydia Markwardt Wickham Adkins, 98, of Orange, Tx., were held Aug. 7, 2005 at the Chapel of Dorman Funeral Home with Rev. Rick Herlacher of the Charismatic Espiscopal Church in Denton, Tx. and Rev. David Berkheimer of the Community Church in Orange officiating. Graveside services were held Aug. 8 at Palacios cemetery. Mrs. Adkins was born March 8, 1907 in Malone, Tx. to William and Lena Schultz. She died Aug. 4, 2005 at a private assisted living facility in Orange, Tx. She was a former resident of Palacios where she was a member and organist for Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, a member of the Lutheran Ladies Missionary League, and the Home Demonstration Club. She was also a former member of Grace Lutheran Church in Orange and a current member of the Community Church in Orange. Ms. Adkins is survived by her daughters, Darleen Miller and husband Jack of Wichita, KS, Dorothy Brown and husband Lee of Orange, Tx; a son Karl Wickham and his wife Karen of Orange, Tx.; 13grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Karl Wickham; her second husband, Nat Adkins; and her daughter, Ruby Jean Wickham.

ALICE L. WILSON

Funeral services for Alice L. Wilson, 84, of Palacios, were held May 29, 2006 at the Palacios First United Methodist Church with Revs. Ray Wells and Charlie Parker officiating. Interment was at Hawley cemetery near Blessing.
Mrs. Wilson was born Dec. 6, 1921 in Houston, TX and was the only child of Ira A. and Victoria Turnage Murphy. She died May 26, 2006 following a lengthy illness.
Alice graduated from Sam Houston High School in 1937 and from the University of Texas at Austin in 1941. While at the University, she was a member of the Alpha Chi Omega Sorority. On Dec. 20, 1940, she married S. Woodrow Wilson of San Saba, TX.
Alice was a Past Matron of the Palacios Chapter of the Eastern Star, an organizer and Past Mother Advisor of the Palacios Order of Rainbow Girls, and an Honorary Member of the Palacios Harmonie Club. She was also a member of the First United Methodist Church in Palacios.
She was an avid card player, and enjoyed playing bridge with the Wednesday Afternoon Bridge Club for many years. She also enjoyed crossword puzzles and drinking coffee with family and friends at the family-owned business, the Palacios Pharmacy, until the business closed in 1996.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, “Woodie” Wilson; daughter, Marion Holcomb of East Wenatchee, WA; daughter-in-law, Neva Wilson of Palacios; grandchildren Kimberley Cooper of El Campo, Rhonda Huitt of Palacios, Steven Wilson of Danevang, Lori Armatta of Wadsworth, Jay Holcomb of Phoenix, AZ, Dwight Holcomb of Los Angeles, CA, and Amy Holcomb of East Wenatchee, WA; and15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her son, Roger D. Wilson.
In lieu of flowers, family requests that memorials be made to the First United Methodist Church, 209 Lucas, Palacios, TX 77465 or the Palacios Recreation Association, PO Box 515, Palacios, TX 77465.
Arrangements were with Palacios Funeral Home (361) 972-2012.

HARRY COLLINS

Funeral services for Harry Collins, 75, of Houston, were held Jan. 21, 2006 at Duncan-Roberts Funeral Home in Bay City. Internment was at Palacios cemetery.
Mr. Collins was born May 17, 1930 to Cynthia Collins in Caney Creek, Tx. He died Jan. 13, 2006 in Houston.
He was a long-time resident of Palacios, as well as a well known and respected mechanic in the community.
He is survived by sons Harold Collins of California, Danny and Ray Collins of Palacios, and Robert Collins of Lake Jackson, Tx.; daughters Equella Collins-Goodal of Palacios and Nel Collins of Lake Jackson, as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, neices, and nephews.
He was proceded in death by a son, Gregory Collins, and a daughter, Darlene Collins.

ANDERSON CYRUS (A.C.) HARTER

Graveside services for Anderson Cyrus (A.C.) Harter, 77, of Blessing, were held Aug. 4, 2005 at Hawley cemetery near Blessing with Rev. Larry Swift officiating.
Mr. Harter was born July 17, 1928 in Bay City to Avon Elsworth and Ina Mae Woodson Harter. He died July 30, 2005 at Herman Memorial Hospital in Houston.
He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy and a long time area rancher.
He is survived by his wife, Becky Lou Calhoun Harter of Blessing; sons and daughter-in-law Forrest and Sharon Harter of Blessing, Roy and Lisa Jones of Inez, and David Benard of Victoria; daughters and sons-in-law Donna and Mark Michael of Cedar Park, Maria and John Tetur of El Campo, Leah Harter of Rockport, Valerie Hanlon of Corpus Christi, and Leah and Don Boggs of Baytown; sister and brother-in-law Vonna and Abner Ussurey of Blessing; grandchildren Julie Michael, Blake and Amber Wolter, Jesse Woods John and Melissa Hanlon, Micheille aned Mike Olszak, Greg and Jennifer Carter, Logan Dale Carter, Jennifer and Autumn Olszak.
