Fred Murphy
1927-2003
Fred Relton Murphy died Tuesday, Oct. 21, in Cogdell Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.
Service for Mr. Murphy, 76, is set for 2 p.m. Thursday at Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home with his brother, Jack Murphy of Houston, officiating. Burial will follow in Hillside Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Murphy was born on Sept. 29, 1927 in Dodson, Iowa, and married Modez Turner on Oct. 28, 1950 in St. Joseph, La. He was a retired plant operator for R.E. Smith and was a Baptist.
Survivors also include his wife, Modez Murphy of Snyder; four daughters, Debra Obrien of Midland, Brenda Crawford of Abilene, Jerri Riley of Snyder and Terri Sherick of Junction; a son, Fred Murphy of Fairfax, Va.; a sister, Valerie Brown of St. Joseph, La.; 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Stephen Cook
1965-2003
SWEETWATER -- Stephen Douglas Cook, father of Darrell Keith Cook of Snyder, died Sunday, Oct. 18, from injuries in an auto accident in Katy.
Service for Mr. Cook, 38, is set for 10 a.m. Thursday in the Littlefield Primitive Baptist Church. Elders Clem Cook, Cleveland Bass and Hulan Bass will officiate. Burial will follow in the Amherst Cemetery in Amherst under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home in Sweetwater.
Born on March 17, 1965 in Houston, he was a 1983 graduate of Westbrook High School. Mr. Cook had lived in Katy for six months and was employed by Universal Forest Products. He had previously lived in Kyle, and was a member of the Primitive Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Samantha Lee Cook in 1997; a brother, Danny Cook; and infant twin brothers, Andy and Randy Cook.
Survivors include another son, Paden Douglas Cook of Red Rock; his parents, Allen and Lona Mae Cook of Amherst; two brothers, David Allen Cook of Fort Worth and Timothy Russell of Abilene; one sister, Gayla May Gale of Littlefield; his grandmother, May Belle Cook of Mt. Park, Okla.
Visitation will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Littlefield Primitive Baptist Church.

Larry Adkins
1945-2003
BIG SPRING -- Larry James Adkins, the brother of David Adkins of Snyder, died Sunday, Oct. 19, in a Midland hospital.
Funeral service for Mr. Adkins, 58, was set for 10 a.m. today in the Trinity Baptist Church with Drs. Randy Cotton and Claude Cravens officiating. Interment will follow in Trinity Memorial Park.
Born Feb. 18, 1946 in Big Spring, he was reared in the Lomax community and graduated from Stanton High School. A graduate of West Texas State University, he served as a first lieutenant with the 1st Air Cavvalry Division in Vietnam.
He married Lila Adkins on April 7, 1974 in Big Spring. Mr. Adkins farmed for more than 30 years and taught at Big Spring High School for three years. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Lila Adkins of Big Spring; two sons, Leslie Adkins of Houston and Landon Adkins of Lubbock; a daughter, Larissa Adkins of Big Spring; his parents, Lawrence and Evelyn Adkins of Stanton; another brother, Bob Adkins of Lomax; two sisters, Molly Madison of Stanton and DeeDee Colwell of Seattle, Wash.

Edwin Pinson
1927-2003
SAN ANGELO -- Edwin Harold Pinson, the father of Edwin Harold “Eddie” Pinson Jr. of Snyder, died Monday, Oct. 20, at his home in San Angelo.
Funeral service for Mr. Pinson, 76, is set for 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens with Dr. Kyle Reese officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Johnson’s Funeral Home.
Born July 10, 1927 in Evant, he was owner and operator of Mid-West Feedyard in San Angelo.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Anna Lois Pinson; a stepdaughter, Judy Sykes Howard; and a stepson, Mike Evans.
He married Frances Crownover on Nov. 7, 1986.
Survivors also include his wife, Frances Pinson of San Angelo; three daughters, Marsha Halfmann of San Angelo, Marilyn Edwards and Cathy Bredemeyer of Odessa; a sister, Mary Earle Childress of San Angelo; two stepsons, Jerre Sykes of Houston and Neil Sykes of Corpus Christi; a daughter-in-law, Jenny Pinson of Snyder; eight grandchildren; and 10 stepgrandchildren.

Billie Stanley
1931-2003
Funeral service for Billie Stanley, 72, of Snyder will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Eastland City Cemetery in Eastland under the direction of Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.
She died Sunday, Aug. 31, at her residence near Snyder. Mrs. Stanley was born on May 23, 1931 in Eastland County. She married Richard Stanley on May 29, 1953 in Monahans. They moved to Snyder in 1982 from Monahans. She was a housewife and a Baptist.
She is survived by her husband, Richard of the home; and two sons, Michael David Stanley of Hermleigh and his wife Sheila, and John Edward Stanley of Edmond, Okla.; five grandchildren, Robert Stanley of Camp Pendleton, Calif; Tiffany Stanley of Mesquite; Courtney Stanley of Hermleigh; Coleton Stanley of Edmond, Okla.; and Brittany Bryant of Edmond, Okla.
Friends are contributing to Alzheimer’s Association, West Texas Chapter, 4400 North, Big Spring, #C-32, Midland, Tex. 79705 or American Parkinson Disease Association, 3506 41st St. Lubbock, Tex., 79410.

Anice Wallace
1912-2003
Funeral service for Anice Wallace, 90, of Snyder will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Ira Church of God with Rev. Rocky Alexander, pastor, officiating.
Burial will follow at Ira Cemetery under the direction of Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.
She died Sunday, Aug. 31, at Cogdell Memorial Hospital, after a lengthy illness.
She was born Sept. 11, 1912 in Scurry County. She married R.V. “Bob” Wallace in 1952 in Snyder. He died in 1973.
She was a lifelong resident of Scurry County, having been born and reared in Ira and graduated from Ira High School. She was also a long time Snyder resident. She was a member of Ira Church of God.
Mrs. Wallace was a housewife and had worked for 10 years at Stanfield Elementary where she was over the desert department. She also baked pies at home for individuals as well as restaurants.
Mrs. Wallace was also preceded in death by a son, Roland Michael Wallace, on Aug. 2, 2001.
Survivors include three grandchildren, Heather Wallace of Whitesboro; April Petit of Sherman; and Chase Wallace of Gordonville; a niece, Carolyn Barbee of Ira; a nephew, Kelton Clark of Ira; two sisters-in-law, Nora Lee Clark of Ira; and Lois Clark of Dallas three great-grandchildren, McKenzie, Sierrah and Jet.
Visitation will be from 7-8 p.m. tonight at the funeral home.

Mary H. Kellner
1928-2003
Funeral service for Mary Helen Breeden Kellner, 74, of Snyder is set for 10 a.m. Wednesday at Bell-Cypert Seale Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Miller Robinson will officiate.
Burial will follow in Hillside Memorial Gardens under the direction of Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.
She died Sunday, Aug. 31, at Hospice House Facility in Odessa. She was born on Oct. 19, 1928 in Richland. She married Raymond Kellner on Dec. 23, 1967 in Snyder. He died in January of 2000.
Mrs. Kellner came to Snyder in 1950 with her first husband Joe Breeden. He preceded her in death in 1965. She was a housewife and worked at Cogdell Memorial Hospital for seven years in the snack bar.
Mrs. Kellner was an avid bowler and had attended the state and national bowling tournament for the past 37 years. She had bowled a 300 game during her bowling career.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Mary and James Beckham of Odessa; a son and daughter-in-law, Joe and Carrolyn Breeden of Austin; two sisters, Barbara Sharp of Tuscola; and Rosalind Fuller of Atlanta, Ga.; one brother, Paul Bradham of Longview; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by a brother, James Bradham.
Visitation will be from 7-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Friends are contributing to Odyssey Hospice Care, 1510 South Gregg, Big Spring, 79720 or the West Texas Boys Ranch in San Angelo.
