Dortha Mae McFarland Hammond
Funeral services for Dortha Mae McFarland Hammond, 84, of Clifton, were held Tuesday, June 3, 2003, in the Lawson Funeral Home Chapel in Meridian, the Rev. Gene Creamer officiating. Interment icon followed in the Morgan cemetery. She died Sunday, June 1, 2003, at her residence, after an extended illness. She was born March 25, 1919, in Goodnight, Okla., a daughter of the late Edwin Suddeth and Ella Roysden McFarland. On Sept. 14, 1935, she was united in marriage to Vernon L. Hammond in Blum. He preceded her in death on Nov. 23, 1965. She was a longtime resident of Clifton and was a homemaker. Hammond is survived by a son, Vernon L. Hammond, Jr. and wife, Norma Jane Hammond of Clifton; nine daughters, Vera Rose and husband Donald Speer of Clifton, Jackie and husband Van Doren Olsen of Clifton, Jan and husband Barney Eary of Clifton, Mary and Samuel Fielder of Clifton, Deborah Woods of Clifton, Shirley June Hammond of Burleson, Elizabeth and husband Robert Glenn of Durant, Okla., Sally and husband Leo Baker of Hawthorne, Nev., and Rebecca and husband Johnny Wayne Terrell of Mosheim; 27 grandchildren; 61 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; stepsister Rosabel Parker and her son David and his family, all of Norman, Okla.; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a host of friends. Pallbearers were Leo Burgamy, DeWayne Burgamy, Billy Eary, Roy Earl, Van Olsen, Jody Poe, Marty DelBosque, and Jason Terrell. Lawson Funeral Home in Meridian was in charge of arrangements.

Ruby Lena Bigham Grimm
Funeral services were held for Ruby Lena Bigham Grimm, 87, on Friday, June 6, 2003, at First Baptist Church in Clifton with Dr. Jerry Smith officiating. Grimm was born on Jan. 3, 1916, in Honey Grove to Robert Frank Bigham and Eva Lena Ashley Bigham. She passed away on June 3, 2003, in Clifton. She married William August Robert Grimm on Sept. 29, 1933. Grimm worked at Wall’s Manufacturing in Clifton and Cleburne. She retired from Clifton Wall’s plant on Dec. 16, 1993, at the age of 77 years old. Grimm loved to cook for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She had a wonderful smile and a big heart. She loved to work outside in her yard and go on walks. She will be greatly missed. Preceding her in death were her husband, William Grimm on Jan. 17, 1985; four children, Joe William, Patsy Lou Grimm Amundson, Chester Clinton, and Jimmy Don. She is survived by four sisters, Ernie Coppedge of Oregon, Christine Wilcox of Hamlin, Lois Sparks of Rotan; six grandchildren, Michael Grimm of Fort Worth, Ronnie Grimm of Abilene, Todd Grimm of Arlington, Tina Hutyra of Meridian, Jo Ann Rice of Clifton, and Tammy Tull of Lorena; 15 great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. Internment was held at Trinity Lutheran cemetery under the direction of Clifton Funeral Home.

Rilley Dean Nordquist
Funeral services were held for Rilley Dean Nordquist, 13, on Friday, June 13, at the Watonga Christian Church with Doyle Warren officiating. Nordquist was born Sept. 19, 1989, at Okeene, Okla., to Michael and Lisa Oldfield. He passed away on Tuesday, June 10, 2003, at the Oklahoma Medical Center in Oklahoma City. Nordquist lived in Eagle City for the first five years of his life, then moved with his parents to Higgins. He attended school in Higgins through the fourth grade. His family moved to Matador where he attended fifth grade at Motley County School. Nordquist attended the sixth grade at Knox City-Obrien School in Knox City, and just finished the seventh grade at Cranfills Gap. The family had just returned to the Eagle City are for the summer on May 31. Nordquist was very active in sports, playing football, basketball, track, and golf. He was a member of the exclusive “South Eagle City Country Club.” He was also Vo-Ag showing in all the local county shows and in major shows in Texas. He was a member of Who’s Who Among American Science Students and received the All-State Academic Recognition Award in Texas for every grade he attended in school. Nordquist was preceded in death by his uncle Jeff and great-grandfather, Ole Olson. He is survived by his parents, Michael and Lisa Nordquist of Oakwood; his grandparents, Kelly and Bernadine Nordquist of Canton, Okla., and Scott and Pati Cornwell of Madisonville, Tenn.; his great-grandmother, Rose Mary Olson, of Madisonville, Tenn.; his five aunts and uncles; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Memorials may be made to the Rilley Scholarship Fund through the funeral home. Internment was at Eagle City cemetery under the direction of Haigler Funeral Home, Inc.

Doris J. Gage
Funeral services for Doris J. Gage, 70, will be held Friday, June 13, 2003, at 11 a.m., at Central Baptist Church in Italy. Interment icon will follow at Laurel Land Memorial Park. Gage passed away Tuesday, June 10, 2003. She was born Nov. 14, 1932. Gage served in the U.S. Navy, and she was also retired from TXU Electric. Gage is survived by two sons, Brady and wife Shannon Gage of Clifton, and Curtis and wife Chris Gage of Italy; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three brothers; one sister; one aunt; one uncle; and numerous cousins. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations may be made to the Arthritis Foundation, 4300 MacArthur, #245, Dallas, TX 75209-6524.

Richard Herman Weinkauf
Funeral services for Richard (Dick) Herman Weinkauf, 72, of Laguna Park, were held Friday, June 6, 2003, at Out Savior Lutheran Church in Whitney, the Rev. Francis Mennenga officiating. Interment icon followed in Smith Bend - Coon Creek cemetery. Weinkauf died Tuesday, June 3, 2003. He was born June 20, 1930, in Booker, the son of Reinhold and Cozie Frances (Draper) Weinkauf. He married Jeanne Woolsey on June 27, 1987, in Waco. He was known as a caring husband, father, grandfather, and friend who lived his faith in Jesus Christ. He was well-known in the Central Texas area as an avid outdoorsman who loved nature, especially the water. He was a gifted singer and banjo player, and was called “the strongest 70-year-old who could fix almost anything.” Weinkauf was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Whitney. He was preceded in death by his father, and by sisters Frances and Esther Weinkauf. He is survived by his wife, Jeanne Weinkauf of Laguna Park; his mother, Cozier Draper of Abilene; children Mickey and husband Charles Smith of Fruitvale, Patty and husband Jerry Cartwright of Ovilla, Richard Paul Weinkauf of Temple, Marcy and husband Craig Woolheater of Dallas, and Carla Jo Weinkauf of Austin; brothers George Weinkauf of Miles, Pete Weinkauf of Abilene, and Albert Weinkauf of Midland; sister Margaret Demetro of San Jose, Calif.; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors, Whitney, was in charge of arrangements.

Rickey R. Baker
Funeral service for Rickey R. Baker, 50, of Clifton will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, June 7, 2003, at the Gray Gish Funeral Home Chapel in Frederick, Okla., with Pastor Don Coates of Faith Christian Center in Fort Worth officiating. Baker was born on Feb. 11, 1953, to Burt J. and Jewell M. (Cornelius) Baker in Houston. He passed away Wednesday, June 4, 2003, in Waco. Baker attended schools in Witchita Falls where he graduated high school. He drove a truck for Wilson’s Meat Packaging Truck Company in Oklahoma City, Okla. where he received a 25-year Safety Award. He moved to Clifton five years ago where he was General Manager for Coates Transportation. Baker was very active in the Faith Christian Center in Fort Worth. He was preceded in death by his father, Burt Baker. Baker was survived by his mother, Jewell Clark of Clifton; two sons, Rickey Baker, Jr., and his wife, Michelle, of Savannah, Ga., and Bryan Baker of Chandler, Okla.; two stepdaughters, Sonja Haugan of Houston, and Teresa Clowdus of Shawnee, Okla.; one brother, Calvin Baker of Sanger; and three grandchildren, Shannon Ingle of Carrollton, Jennifer Clowdus and Gary Don Clowdus of Shawnee, Okla. Internment will be at the Frederick Memorial cemetery under the director of Gray Gish Funeral Home in Frederick.

Calvin C. Petty
Graveside funeral services for Calvin C. (Coot) Petty, 76, of Turnersville, were held Thursday, May 29, 2003, in the Turnersville cemetery, with Jerry Jones officiating. Petty died Tuesday, May 27, 2003, in the Veterans Administration Hospital in Temple after a long illness. He was born Oct. 29, 1926, in Belton, a son of the late Levi H. and Mary Jane Cantwell Petty. He was raised in Bell County. On July 28, 1951, he was united in marriage to Francis Audrey Kelley in Burnet. Petty had lived in Turnersville for many years, where he worked on various farms and ranches before his retirement. He served with the U.S. Army Air Force in World War II. He was a member of the Baptist church. Preceding him in death were his parents; brothers Raymond L. Petty, Oscar W. Petty, Clarence R. Petty, Thomas A. Petty, and George C. Petty; and sisters Lou Gene Baker and Velma L. Reither. Petty is survived by his wife, Frances Audrey Petty of Turnersville; son Tommy L. Petty Sr. and wife Margaret Petty of Turnersville; daughters Mary F. and husband Darrel Brown of Gatesville, and Wanda J. and husband Richard Crawford of Turnersville; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; sisters Myrtle M. Hoggett of Rising Star and Martha E. Renfro of Houston; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Pallbearers were Tommy Petty Jr., Allen Thompson, Richard Petty Jr., Juanita Thompson, Becky Rushton, Belinda Morgan, Russell Petty, and Richard Petty Sr. Lawson Funeral Home, Meridian, was in charge of arrangements.

Edith May Timms
Funeral services for Edith May Timms, 87, of Walnut Springs, were held Wednesday, May 28, 2003, in the Lawson Funeral Home Chapel, the Rev. William Lamb and the Rev. B.E. Moore officiating. Interment icon followed in Morgan cemetery. Timms died Saturday, May 24, 2003, in a Fort Worth hospital. She was born April 13, 1916, in Dallas, a daughter of the late Claude Nelson and Sarah Margaret Shepherd Payne. On Nov. 28, 1931, she was united in marriage to Richard (Dick) Timms in Cleburne. The couple lived in Morgan and Fort Worth before moving to their farm north of Walnut Springs in 1959. Her husband preceded her in death on Feb. 2, 1991. Timms worked for Williamson Dickey Manufacturing Company in Fort Worth, and retired from Walls Manufacturing Company in Clifton. She was a member of the New Life Tabernacle Church in Walnut Springs. Survivors include two daughters, Claudene and husband Carlton Sanders of Fort Worth, and Nelldian West of Fort Worth; seven grandchildren, Carl Sanders of Fort Worth, Lentius West of Tuscon, Ariz., Cliff Sanders of Fort Worth, Linda Dozier of Glen Rose, Vickie McCune of Fort Worth, Sherry Haffelder of Ruby, Ark., and Clift Sanders of Fort Worth; nine great-grandchildren, Scott Sanders, Shannon Kirstein, Sarah Alsup, Heath Dozier, Rachel Kirstein, Michael Sanders, Danielle West, Seth Dozier, and Ashley West; nieces Cliffy Wooten and Betty Morrison; and a number of other relatives and friends. Pallbearers were Carl Sanders, Lentius West, Cliff Sanders, Clint Sanders, Michael Sanders, Heath Dozier, and Seth Dozier. Lawson Funeral Home, Meridian, was in charge of arrangements.

Adolph Paul Dossman
Funeral services for Adolph Paul Dossman, 77, of Morgan’s Point Resort, were held Monday, June 2, 2003, at Dossman Funeral Home, Belton, the Rev. Rodney Bolejack officiating. Interment icon followed in Clifton cemetery. Dossman died Thursday, May 29, 2003, in a Belton nursing home. He was born Jan. 13, 1926, on a small farm near Turnersville, to Rudolph Herman and Annie Josephine (Schultz) Dossman. He joined the U.S. Navy when he was 18, and served in both the Pacific and Atlantic Theaters. Following the service, he began working as a carpenter. He spent most of his life in construction, working his way up to foreman and finally to superintendent. He worked for Hoffman and Borders Construction in Waco, and supervised projects throughout Texas. He also worked for Brazos Concrete Products in Waco. Dossman married Charlene Paulk on May 7, 1948, in Waco. He was a member of the Lutheran Church. He moved to Morgan’s Point Resort from Clifton in 1998, and also had lived in Moody. He was preceded in death by one brother, Bennie Dossman, and one sister, Hilma Parrish. Dossman is survived by his wife, Charlene Dossman of Morgan’s Point Resort; two sons, Loy Dossman of Allen and Danny C. Dossman of Belton; one daughter, Paula Bauerle of Arlington; three brothers, Walter Dossman of Clifton, Ernest Dossman of Gatesville, and Emil Dossman of Gatesville; one sister, Minnie Kettler of Clifton; and seven grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the charity of the donor’s choice. Dossman Funeral Home, Belton, was in charge of arrangements.
