JULIA (MRS. JAKE) HAUSENFLUKE, age 86, of Coleman, died Wednesday, February 5, 2003 at Coleman County Medical Center. Funeral Mass will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Rev. Lawrence Cyr and Rev. Msgr. Benedict Zientek officiating. Burial will follow in Coleman cemetery. Prayer Service will be held on Thursday at 8:00 p.m. in Stevens Funeral Home Chapel. Services are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

Julia was born on November 7, 1916 in Covvar, Bastrop County, Texas and was the daughter of Joe and Bertha Kulak Hajdik. She grew up in Covvar and attended school there. On February 5, 1938 she married James H. (Jake) Hausenfluke in Austin. She worked at Scarborough’s Department Store in Austin and moved to Coleman in 1948. Julia was a good mother, housewife and business manager. She was assistant manager and bookkeeper at the 7-Up Bottling Company in Coleman for 21 years and also assisted with other businesses with her husband. She served as secretary and president of the Altar Society. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Coleman.

She is survived by her husband, Jake Hausenfluke of Coleman; two sons and daughters-in-law, Melvyn and Marilyn Hausenfluke of Grand Prairie, Texas and Grady Lee and Allene Hausenfluke of Las Cruces, NM; five grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society or Hospice of the Big Country - 4601 Hartford - Abilene, Texas 79605.

A C HOLLOWAY, age 75 of Coleman, died February 4, 2003 at Lakeshore Village Retirement Center in Waco. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 8, 2003 at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Coleman City cemetery, under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

Mr. Holloway was born April 1, 1927 in Mexia, Texas, a son of Tommy Holloway and Naomi Smith Holloway. He was raised and attended school in Coleman. He served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II. He lived in California for 50 years, working in concrete construction for bulding foundations. He moved to Coleman in 1994. He was a member of the Veteran’s of Foreign Wars and the Church of God of Christ in Coleman.

Survivors include his fiancée Gay Garrett of Waco; one son, Rodney Jones of California; one sister, Bennie Holloway of Coleman and a host of nieces and nephews, including Odessa Walker of Austin, Nikki Holloway of Atlanta, Georgia, Janice King of Houston and Ronnie Young of Austin.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and one brother.

Family visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday, February 7, 2003 at the funeral home.

VIVIAN HARRIS, age 72, of Santa Anna, passed away Friday, March 28, 2003 at a Brownwood nursing home. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Sunday in Stevens Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in the Burkett cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

Vivian was born June 9, 1930 in Dale, Texas and was a daughter of the late William Melvin and Viola May Copeland Riddle. She grew up in Dale where she also attended school. She graduated from Southwest Texas State University with a Bachelor of Science degree. On November 23, 1950 she married Ernest Wayne Harris in Dale, Texas and he preceded her in death on November 29, 1997. She worked for many years as a bookkeeper for janitorial supply company in Midland. She lived in Midland from 1953-1994, moving to Santa Anna in 1994. She was a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include one daughter, Debra Jane and husband Joe Schreiber of Spring Branch, Texas; one son, William Wayne and wife Tamara Lee Harris of Bangs; four grandchildren, Joseph and Jessica Schreiber of Spring Branch, Texas and Cody and Cooper Harris of Bangs; two sisters, Nelta Lancaster of San Angelo and Betty Sanders of Austin; numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to Girling Hospice, 1423 Coggin Avenue, Brownwood, Texas 76834 or American Cancer Society for breast cancer research.

IMA KNOWLES, age 74, of Coleman passed away at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 30, 2003 at Concho Baptist Church with Dr. Charles Sheffield officiating and assisted by Rev. Paul Smith. Burial will follow at the Coleman City cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

Ima was born on November 11, 1928 in Coleman, Texas and was a daughter of the late A. L. and Flora Findley Hubbard. She grew up in Coleman and graduated from Coleman High School in 1946. On July 12, 1946 she married Fred Knowles in Coleman. She was a life-long resident of Coleman, a homemaker and a member of Concho Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Fred Knowles of Coleman; three daughters, Gloria Parker of Coleman, Judy and husband Ronnie Jeffreys of Abilene and Kathy Plummer of Rosenberg; three sons, Fred Knowles, Jr. and wife Jana of Coleman, Terry Knowles and wife Renee’ of Abilene and Jerry Knowles and wife Tammy of San Angelo; 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Wilma Threadgill, Ruby Atkinson and Dorothy Bohannon all of Abilene.

She was preceded in death by her parents and five brothers, Vernon Hubbard, Allen Hubbard, A. L. Hubbard, Jr., Paul Hubbard and Billy Hubbard.

Memorials may be made to Hendrick Hospice, 1100 N. 19th Street, Abilene, Texas 79601 or West Texas Rehabiliation Center, 4601 Hartford, Abilene, Texas 79605.

Family visitation will be held on Saturday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Home.

ABIGAIL DIANNE WALKER, infant daughter of Steven and Rebekah Walker of Coleman, died Saturday, March 22, 2003 at Hendrick Medical Center. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 26, 2003 at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Pat Horner officiating. Burial will follow in the Coleman City cemetery, under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

Abigail was born Saturday, March 22, 2003 in Abilene.

Survivors include her parents, Steven and Rebekah Walker of Coleman; grandparents, Casey and Cindy Walker of McAllen, Rev. Pat and Dianne Horner of Coleman; great grandparents, Laverne and Tommy Boyce of Houston, Virginia Elliott of San Antonio, Jake and Betty Elliott of Houston, Daisy Horner of San Antonio, Jeanie Walker of Houston; great-great grandmother, Dorothy Warren of Tyler; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

EVELYN ELIZABETH KAPLAN, age 86 of Coleman, died Saturday, March 22, 2002 at Holiday Hill Nursing Center. She was born March 30, 1916 in Chicago, a daughter of Aimar Paulsbo and Sally Thormedson Paulsbo. She married William Kaplan in March, 1961 in Reno, Nevada. She moved to Coleman in September, 2000 from California.

She is survived by a niece, Pam Pryor of Coleman.

No services are planned. Mrs. Kaplan’s body will be donated to Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, School of Medicine. Stevens Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

LILLY BROOKE RASCO and LINZY GRACE RASCO, infant twin daughters of Jason and Vanessa Molina Rasco, passed away Friday, March 14, 2003 in an Abilene hospital. Graveside funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Monday at Coleman City cemetery with Brad Schafer officiating. Services are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

Lilly and Linzy were born Thursday, March 13, 2003 in Coleman.

Survivors include parents, Jason and Vanessa Rasco of Coleman; two brothers, Heath and Devin Rasco of Coleman; one sister, Emily Rasco of Coleman; grandparents, Jose and Sylvia Molina of Coleman, Doyle and Pam Rasco of Abilene and Cathy Chapman of Brownwood; great-grandparents, Wanda and Alvin Hayes of Coleman, Juan and Rachel Lopez of Chicago, Sylvia Lopez of McAllen and Luis Molina Cardenas of Juarez, Mexico; several aunts and uncles.

They were preceded in death by a great-grandfather, Charlie Rasco.

FRANKIE MAE ALLEN TRIPLITT passed from this world on Thursday, March 13, 2003 at 9:30 p.m. at Holiday Hill Nursing Home in Coleman, Texas. Frankie was born in Cisco, Texas on February 22, 1914 to Chess and Lily Waters Allen. She attended Cisco schools. She married A. W. (Dub) Triplitt on March 12, 1936 and he preceded her in death in 1990. They had one child, Ted Allen Triplitt. She had been a resident of Holiday Hill since April 1995, where, among other activities that she participated in, she was a member of the "Singing Grannies." She was a member of the First Christian Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Dub and her son, Ted.

She is survived by two grandchildren, Cindy Triplitt Docktor and husband David of Abilene and Richard Triplitt and wife Teresa of Coleman; her daughter-in-law, Dona Triplitt of Coleman; two sisters, Mrs. Evelyn Howsley of Weatherford and Mrs. Patsy Brown of Corpus Christi, Texas; five nephews and one niece also survive her.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 17, 2003 at Oakwood cemetery in Cisco, Texas with Rev. Marcy Grun officiating. Services are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home, Coleman, Texas.

Family visitation will be held on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Home.

MAURINE BLAIR, age 91, of Coleman, passed away Tuesday, March 11, 2003 at Coleman County Medical Center. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 14, 2003 at First Baptist Church with Rev. John Stanislaw officiating. Burial will follow in the Coleman cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

Maurine was born November 2, 1911 in Bangs, Texas and was a daughter of the late Gilford Oscar Welch and Maggie Lula Geer Welch. She grew up in Bangs, Cleveland and Trickham and attended school in Cleveland. She was married to Herman Corder and he preceded her in death; she married Willie Blair on August 23, 1955 in Brownwood and he preceded her in death on January 23, 1989. Maurine moved to Coleman in 1946 and was the Commission Bus Agent for Continental Trailways and Kerrville Bus Companies for 23 years. She was also an Avon sales representative for many years. She joined First Baptist Church in Coleman in 1946 where she was also a member of the Rebekah Sunday School class. She was a member of the Senior Center, Triple L Club and a proud member of TOPS.

Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Herma Jean Corder Johnson and Cecil Johnson of Coleman; four grandchildren and spouses, Gwen and Phil Huggins of Coleman, Kay and Dwain Scott of Brownwood, Viki and Mark Hambright of Coleman and Michael and Darla Johnson of Coleman; ten great-grandchildren, Dana Huggins Hammonds, Adam Huggins, Andrea Ewing, Tyler Scott, Tiphani, Tedye and Trenton Hambright, Derek, Shaden and Raelie Johnson; great-great grandsons, Blake, P. J., Quinton and Bryson Hammonds; numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three sisters, Zelda Carleton, Roxie Allison and Goldie Haynes.

Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, American Cancer Society or First Baptist Church, Coleman, Texas.

Family visitation will be held on Thursday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

ROBERT MURPHY McPHERSON II, age 31, of Euless and Voss, died Sunday, March 9, 2003 in Voss. Graveside funeral service will be held 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Voss cemetery Pavilion with Rev. Weldon Lee officiatng. Services are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

Robert was born January 26, 1972 in Dallas, Texas and was a son of Bobby Jo McPherson and Dorothy Sue Myers McPherson. He grew up in Irving and Terrell where he also attended school. He worked as a plumber and had been staying as often as possible at his family’s place in Voss, Coleman County, for the past few years. He was Baptist.

Survivors include his wife, Heather Breeden of Coleman; his parents, Bobby and Dorothy McPherson of Euless, Texas; three sons, Bobby Jo McPherson II of Winfield, Kansas, Robert Murphy McPherson III and Jason Alexander McPherson both of Coleman; one daughter, Amanda Marie McPherson of Winfield, Kansas; step-daughter, Ashley Jade Coleman of Coleman; two brothers, Ricky Jo McPherson of Watauga, Texas and Donald Eugene McPherson of Voss; one sister, Shelia Jane Senning of Arlington, Texas; grandmother, Thelma Jane McPherson of Canton, Texas; nieces and nephews: Shawnna, Asheley, Jennifer, Lisa, Edward, Rebecca and Zachary; one great-nephew, Shawn; step-niece, Amanda.

SARAH JANE ANDERSON PERRY, age 96 of Coleman died Thursday, March 5, 2003 in Rusk, Texas. Graveside services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 7, 2003 at the Coleman City cemetery with Rev. Billy Roberts officiating. Services are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

Mrs. Perry was born October 30, 1906 in Coleman. She was raised and attended school in Coleman. On February 2, 1928, she married William Wyatt Perry. He preceded her in death on March 27, 1968. She was a homemaker and a member of North Coleman Baptist Church.

Survivors include one son, Billy Marcel Perry of Coleman; one daughter, Addie Jane Edwards of Rusk; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and ten brothers and sisters.

Woodrow Wilson Wheeler, age 89 of Odessa passed from life March 4, 2003, at Hospice House of Odessa. He was born April 7, 1913 in Gouldbusk, Coleman County, Texas. He moved to Odessa in 1948. He retired from Haliburton Oilfield Services in 1978 after 29 years of Service.

He was preceded in death by his father, Bud Wheeler; mother, Lucy Anne O’Dell Wheeler; brothers, Doile S. Wheeler, Raymond G. Wheeler and grandson, Randal W. Wheeler.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Jewel V. Wheeler of Odessa; brother, Howard F. Wheeler of Poolville, Texas; daughter and son-in-law, Shirley R. and Kenneth L. Cook, Sr. of Odessa; son James R. Wheeler of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; seven grandchildren, Karen Coffman of Midland, Kenneth L. Cook, Jr. of Odessa, Steven R. Cook of Lubbock, Latricia L. Arnold of Arlington, Sheila A. Gathright of Abilene, James R. Wheeler, Jr. of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Bryan J. Wheeler of Fort Worth and eight great-grandchildren.

Graveside services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 8, 2003 at the Santa Anna cemetery, with Rev. Chuck Reynolds of Abilene officiating. Visitation will be all day Friday, March 7, 2003 at Stevens Funeral Home in Coleman. Memorials may be made to Hospice House of Odessa.

Arrangements are entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home in Odessa and Stevens Funeral Home in Coleman.
