Richard Cornelius

BROWNWOOD — Richard D. Cornelius, 57, of Fort Worth died Friday in Fort Worth.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Greenleaf Cemetery with the Rev. R.J. Elkins officiating, directed by Davis-Morris Funeral Home.

Mr. Cornelius was born in Brownwood and was an Army and Navy veteran of the Vietnam War. He worked for a printing company and had lived in Fort Worth since 1987.

Survivors include one daughter, Melissa Cornelius; two half-sisters, Jo Ann Cornelius of Odessa and Sharon Coley of Fort Worth; his parents, J.W. Cornelius of Odessa and Lorena J. Locke of Fort Worth; one niece, two nephews and several great-nieces and -nephews.

James Grant Norman

BROWNWOOD — James Grant Norman, 74, died Saturday at a San Angelo hospital.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Davis-Morris Funeral Home Chapel with Richard Hetzel officiating. Burial will be in Greenleaf Cemetery.

Mr. Norman was born in Brownwood, where he lived all his life. He was an Army veteran in Europe and Korea. He was a car dealer and a member of Coggin Avenue Baptist Church. He married Polly Fisk in 1965 in Livingston.

Survivors include his wife, of Brownwood; two daughters, Jennifer Norman and Nancy Corbert, both of Lubbock; one son, Jim Catledge of Brownwood; one sister, Ovelda Stark of Brownwood; and one grandson.

The family will be at the funeral home from 6-7 p.m. today.

Tammy Stroud

BRENHAM — Tammy Stroud, 40, died Saturday at a Bryan hospital after a traffic accident.

Services will be at 9 a.m. Tuesday at Brenham Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Larry Lewis officiating. Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday in Eastland City Cemetery.

Mrs. Stroud was born in Gorman and attended Midland Lee High School, Midland College, San Antonio College and Blinn College. She was employed by Tri-County Air Conditioning. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Denver City and attended First Baptist Church of Brenham.

Survivors include her husband, Bob Johnson of Brenham; one son, Danny Stroud of Brenham; one daughter, Cary Ann Stroud of Brenham; her mother and stepfather, Dot and Tommy Thomas of Midland; one stepdaughter, Kathie Johnson of Franklin; one brother, David Massengale of Midland; and numerous other relatives.

Memorials may be made to the donor’s favorite charity.

Burns Carroll

COMANCHE — Burns K. Carroll, 73, of Sidney died Sunday at his home.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Hall & Sons Funeral Home Chapel with Farland Clark and Cline Paden officiating. Burial will be in Stag Creek Cemetery near Comanche.

Mr. Carroll was born in Eastland and moved to the Sidney area from Abilene 40 years ago. He graduated from Abilene Christian College and was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was a farmer and rancher and a member of Sidney Church of Christ. He married Pat Cathey in 1950 in Abilene.

Survivors include his wife, of Sidney; four sons, Steve Carroll of Weatherford, Ben Carroll of Sidney, Sim Carroll of Canyon Lake and Paul Carroll of Lubbock; three sisters, Charlie Allegria of El Cajon, Calif., Jamie Brandt Hood of Winters and Joan Remer of Walden, Ark.; two brothers, Brooks Carroll of Canyon and Mark Carroll of Fort Worth; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Foster’s Children’s Home, 1779 N. Graham, Stephenville 76401; or CCS Hospice, P.O. Box 389, Dublin 76446.

The family will be at Sidney Church of Christ at noon today for lunch.

Park Swift

Park Swift, 80, of Abilene died Monday at a local hospital.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Elmwood Memorial Park with Dr. Tom Thomson officiating, directed by Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy. 277 South.

Mr. Swift was born in Knox City.

Survivors include one son, John Swift of Abilene; one brother, James Swift of Brownsville; one sister, Bernice Stetson of Houston; and two grandchildren.

Forest Truman Jones

Forest Truman Jones, 90, of Abilene died Sunday at a local hospital.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 542 Hickory, with the Revs. Doug Underhill and Steve King officiating. Graveside services will be at 5 p.m. today in Newcastle Cemetery in Newcastle (Young County).

Mr. Jones was born in Newcastle and attended school in Woodson. He moved to Abilene from Newcastle in 1951 and retired after 12 years with Pride Refinery. He was a Baptist. He married Lena Brogdon in 1931 in Newcastle. He married Bonnie Berry in 1966 in Merkel.

Survivors include his wife, of Abilene; one son, Ronnie Dale Jones of Abilene; one daughter, Billie Sue Buchalla of Abilene; one stepson, Joe Allen Berry of Keller; three stepdaughters, Diane Carol Gipson of Sachse and Glenda Sue Foller and Judy Beth Berry, both of Abilene; one sister, Viola Reese of Graham; seven grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, six step-grandchildren, seven step-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Misty Lachelle Brown

Misty Lachelle Brown, 16, of Baird died Sunday at an Abilene hospital.

Services will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 542 Hickory, with the Rev. Billy Tucker officiating. Burial will be in Clyde Cemetery.

Miss Brown was born in Abilene and was a student and a Baptist.

Survivors include her parents, Jimmy and Helen Wilson of Baird; one brother, Justin Wilson of Baird; two sisters, Christie Brown of Abilene and Danielle Morgan of Abilene; and grandparents Kenneth and Lily Mitchell and Nan Wilson, all of Abilene.

Memorials may be made to Harmony Family Services, 1626 N. 3rd, Abilene 79601.

The family will be at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. today.

Mildred Ruth Preslar Whitfield

Mildred Ruth Preslar Whitfield, 73, a longtime resident of Lawn, died Sunday at a Bartlesville, Okla., hospital.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Dewey Cemetery in Lawn with the Rev. Price Mathieson officiating, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home.

Mrs. Whitfield was born near Lawn and graduated from the Lawn community school in 1943. She moved to Fort Worth after graduation. She moved to the Permian Basin from South Texas in 1948 and also lived in New Mexico, Oklahoma and South America before returning to Lawn in 1971. She ran the family farm and also worked for Gibson's in Odessa and Aileen's, Inc., in Abilene as a seamstress. She was a homemaker, a member of A.A.R.P. and a member of First Baptist Church since 1948. She married L.A. Whitfield in 1943 in Arlington; he preceded her in death.

Survivors include one son, Jimmy Whitfield of Ardmore, Okla.; one daughter, Brenda Whitfield DuBois of Bartlesville; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Bartlesville, 508 S.E. 5th, Bartlesville OK 74003; or Hendrick Hospice Care, P.O. Box 1922, Abilene 79604.

The family will be at the funeral home from 5-7 p.m. today.

Anna Barnum

CLYDE - Anna M. Barnum, 70, of Clyde died Monday at an Abilene hospital.

Memorial services will be at 6 p.m. today at Bailey Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ronnie Timms officiating.

Mrs. Barnum was born in Winslow, Ark., and moved to the Clyde-Abilene area from Oregon in 1948. She was a homemaker. She married Archie Charlie Spencer in 1948 in Abilene; he preceded her in death.

Survivors include three sons, Henry Spencer of Clyde, Jerry Spencer of Brownwood and Lloyd Spencer of Abilene; three daughters, Jean Moore and Beth Althenn, both of Clyde, and Barbara Briggs of Wilmer, Ala.; 13 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
