George Cecil Stone
20-year resident of Lake Brownwood

LAKE BROWNWOOD — George Cecil Stone, 79, died Monday in a Brownwood hospital.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. today at the Cross Cut Cemetery in northern Brown County with the Rev. Richard Hetzel officiating, directed by Heartland Funeral Home of Early.

Mrs. Stone was born in Putnam and had lived in Lake Brownwood for over 20 years. She was the widow of Charlie Stone, whom she married in Brownwood. She was a member of the Eastern Star, Lake Brownwood Methodist Church, and the Lake Brownwood Lions Club.

Survivors include two daughters, Adelia Wright of San Antonio and Madeline Bunn of Nevada, Iowa; four grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Kristi Dawn Windland Shivers
Amber Nicole Dawn Shivers

Kristi Dawn Windland Shivers, 29, and her infant daughter, Amber Nicole Dawn Shivers, died hours apart Tuesday in a local hospital.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Faith, 5701 U.S. Hwy 277 South, with the Rev. Mike Martin officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park.

Mrs. Shivers was born in Abilene, where she was a lifelong resident, and graduated from Cooper High School in 1989. She married Richard Shivers on August 28, 1994 in Abilene. She was a homemaker and volunteered at Abilene Regional Medical Center. She was a Baptist.

Survivors include her husband, of Abilene; her parents, Gerald and Regina Windland of Abilene; and one sister, Kimberli Brown of Abilene.

Memorials may be sent to West Texas Rehabilitation Center, 4601 Hartford, Abilene 79605; or Texas Scottish Rite Hospital, 2222 Welborn, Dallas 75219.

Milton Burns
Longtime oil company employee

Milton Burns, 55, employed by Guiberson Oil Tool Co. from 1969 until retiring as manager in 1986, Tuesday at his home.

Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Coleman Cemetery with the Rev. Gary Lawrence officiating, directed by North's Funeral Home, 4002 Buffalo Gap Road.

Mr. Burns was born in Gorman and moved to Abilene in the early 1950s. He graduated from Abilene High School and married Carlene Cope on July 14, 1968. He was a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife, of Abilene; one son, Terry Bozeman of Abilene; his mother, Mildred Burns of Rising Star; one sister, Betty Mullis of Abilene; and two step grandchildren.

Memorials may be sent to Arthritis Foundation, Northwest Texas Chapter, 3001 W. 5th Street, Fort Worth 76107.

Visitation will be from 6-7:30 p.m. today in the funeral home.

Richard Carrillo Garcia
Baseball coach

Richard Carrillo Garcia, 48, for whom a Northern Little League park is named at Sears Park, died Wednesday at his home.

A prayer service will be at 7 p.m. today in Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 542 Hickory. Mass will be said at 2 p.m. Friday in St. Vincent Pallotti Catholic Church with the Rev. Joe Uecker officiating. Burial will be in Masonic Cemetery.

Mr. Garcia was born in Abilene, where he attended school, and worked as an Abilene school custodian. He coached in Northern Little League for 22 years and was a member of St. Vincent Pallotti Catholic Church.

Survivors include one son, Richard Garcia Jr. of Abilene; one daughter, Ann Herrera of Abilene; three brothers, Carlos Garcia of Baird, Chano Torres of Norwalk, Calif., and Lupe Torres of Dowey, Calif.; five sisters, Susan Moreno, Bellie Garcia and Jessica Flores, all of Abilene, Molly Del Toro and Clara Valenzuela, both of Fresno, Calif.; and two grandchildren.

Memorials may be sent to Northern Little League, 2142 Marsalis, Abilene 79603; or Hendrick Hospice Care, P.O. Box 1922, Abilene 79604.

The family will be at 2158 Sears Blvd.

Katrina Smith
Red Wagon cook and waitress

MERKEL - Katrina Smith, 54, cook and waitress at Red Wagon Restaurant for 10 years, died Monday at her home.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Starbuck Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ted Miller officiating. Burial will be in White Church Cemetery, southwest of Merkel.

Mrs. Smith was born in Childress and attended school at Queen Creek and Chandler, Ariz. She moved to Merkel 20 years ago and was a homemaker. She was the widow of Reuben E. "Smitty" Smith, whom she married on November 25, 1966 in Quanah.

Survivors include one son, David Wayne Wright of Lillington, N.C.; two daughters, Millie Everheart of Abilene and Angelina Maria Sellers Stone of Phoenix, Ariz.; her father, Jimmie Sellers of Coleman; her mother, Vernice Johnson of Abilene; seven brothers, Charles Sellers of Hot Springs, Ark., Floyd Sellers, John Sellers and Michael Sellers, all of Abilene, J.D. Sellers of Merkel, Melvin Sellers of Hamlin and Sterling Ray Sellers of Beaumont; six sisters, Louise Blankenship of Merkel, Melody Garson, Ada Sellers and Velda Sellers, all of Abilene, and Betty Jo Sellers and Lilly Jo Sellers, both of Coleman; and four grandchildren.

Minnie Moselle Cox
Retired seamstress

AMARILLO - Minnie Moselle Cox, 85, formerly of Abilene, died Tuesday.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Elmwood Memorial Park in Abilene with the Rev. Louis Johnson officiating, directed by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.

Mrs. Cox was born in Columbus, Miss., and retired as a seamstress from a clothing factory. She lived in Abilene for many years until moving to Amarillo two years ago. She was a member of North Park Baptist Church in Abilene and was the widow of David Hamilton Cox.

Survivors include one daughter, Marie Laird of Amarillo; two brothers, Samuel David Coleman and George Coleman, both of Columbus, Miss.; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be sent to a favorite charity.

Mozelle Sosebee Woodlock
Retired bank officer

LUBBOCK - Mozelle Sosebee Woodlock, 79, formerly of Abilene, died Wednesday in a local hospital.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Sunset Church of Christ with Dr. Ken Jones officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park, directed by Resthaven Funeral Home.

Mrs. Woodlock was born in Cottle County and moved to Lubbock in 1942 from Abilene. She worked at Briercroft Savings and Loan for several years and retired as executive vice president at State Savings and Loan. She was a member of Sunset Church of Christ and was the widow of Clinton C. Woodlock, whom she married on July 6, 1940 in San Angelo.

Survivors include three daughters, Lana Woodlock of Lake Leon, Judy Woodlock Bryant of Levelland and Susan Woodlock Smithson of Lubbock; one son, Brad Woodlock of Lubbock; five sisters, Leona Ferguson of Sterling City, Mildred Jarratt of San Angelo, Billie Goodrich of Fort Worth, Joyce Woodard of Lubbock and Joan Jarratt of Loraine; and five grandchildren.

Callie Valentine Hardin
Former Abilene resident

CLYDE - Callie Valentine Hardin, 80, of Austin and formerly of Abilene, died Sunday.

Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in Clyde Cemetery with the Rev. Riley Fugitt officiating, directed by Bailey Funeral Home.

Mrs. Hardin was born in Pine Forest and graduated from Wink High School in 1937. She moved to Abilene in 1940. She married J.C. Hardin on July 12, 1941 in Houston.

Survivors include two sons, Benny B. Hardin of Cedar Park and Gerald F. Hardin of Fort Myers, Fla.; one daughter, Shirley Adams of Cedar Creek; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Hazel West
Retired waitress

BALLINGER - Hazel West, 63, formerly of Ballinger, died Tuesday in a Lake Worth care center.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. today in Old Runnels Cemetery, directed by Rains-Seale Funeral Home.

Mrs. West worked as a waitress for many years until retiring in 1982. She was a member of Order of the Eastern Star and Wink Baptist Church, and was the widow of James L. "Mack" West.

Survivors include three sons, Dan West and James L. West, both of Fort Worth, and Stephan West of Abilene; three daughters, Viki Shilaos of Corvalis, Ore., Karleen McMahon of Hobbs, N.M., and Marilyn Martin of San Angelo; 11 grandchildren; and one great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be sent to any hospice group or Special Olympics.
