Vurnell Grant

WINTERS - Vurnell Grant, 75, died Sunday at an Abilene hospital.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Winters Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jim Gehrels officiating. Burial will be in Northview Cemetery.

Mr. Grant was born in Huntsville and moved to the Winters area as a child. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a farmer-rancher and a Baptist.

Survivors include his wife, Mattie Thomas Grant of Winters; four sons, Vernon Ray Grant, Willie Grant, Richard Grant and Carl Grant, all of Abilene; three daughters, Stella Mae Knight, Patsy Kay Lewis and Mary Lucille Grant, all of Abilene; one brother, Eugene Grant of Abilene; three sisters, Esther Johnson and Ella Lee Grant, both of Winters, and Lucille Dairy of Abilene; 16 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Bert Munger Jr.

BROWNWOOD - Bert Munger Jr., 84, died Sunday at a local care center.

Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Heartland Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Ron Cook and the Rev. Jerry McCoy officiating. Burial will be in Santa Anna Cemetery.

Mr. Munger was born in Coleman County and attended school in the Buffalo community. He was employed by National Life and Accident Insurance Agency for many years and was in the real estate business in El Paso and Brownwood. He owned Grant County Ambulance Service in Silver City, N.M., for nine years and served with the Texas National Guard. He was a member of First Baptist Church. He married Ida Edwin Baker in 1934 in Brown County.

Survivors include his wife, of Brownwood; two sons, Dwayne Munger of Early and Travis Munger of Abilene; two daughters, Ann Geurin of El Paso and Debra Stadjuhars of Las Cruces, N.M.; four grandchildren, one great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.

Erma Ruth Clark

MERKEL - Erma Ruth Clark, 75, of Arlington died Saturday at an Arlington hospital.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Starbuck Funeral Home Chapel with Bob Gomez officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Clark was born in Denver, Colo., and moved to the Abilene area in 1951 and to Arlington in 1987. She was a member of Belmont Baptist Church in Abilene and Royal Neighbors of America. She was a homemaker and a professional accordion player. She married Bernard Franklin Clark in 1945 in Merkel; he preceded her in death.

Survivors include one son, Bobby Joe Clark of Arlington; one daughter, Caroline Latta of Felton, Calif.; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Merkel Cemetery Association, 201 Edwards, Merkel 79536.

Eugenia Beaird

BROWNWOOD - Eugenia Beaird, 73, of Bangs, died Sunday at a local nursing home.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Davis-Morris Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. R.J. Elkins officiating. Burial will be in Jones Chapel Cemetery.

Mrs. Beaird was born in Dimmitt and had lived in Bangs for two years. She was a member of Rolling Acres Baptist Church in Bangs. She married Hubert Beaird in 1942 in Hereford; he preceded her in death.

Survivors include two sons, James Beaird of Bangs and Joe Beaird of North Little Rock, Ark.; two daughters, Margaret Ellen of Decatur, Ark., and Ann Johnson of Bangs; one sister, Kate James of Fort Worth; one brother, Glenn James of Harrison, Ark.; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Beulah Brown

STEPHENVILLE - Beulah Brown, 76, died Monday at a Fort Worth hospital.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Bobby Baggett officiating. Burial will be in Gardens of Memory, directed by Stephenville Funeral Home.

Mrs. Brown was born in Newcastle and was retired from Montgomery Ward's. She was on the Chamber of Commerce board of directors for 11 years and also served as treasurer and president. She was a charter member of the Chamber's Ambassador Club and was past president of Stephenville Zonta Club. She was a founding member of Erath County Livestock Association, was secretary of the Rodeo Cowboys Association for many years and was active in PTA and Girl Scouts. She was a member of First United Methodist Church. She married George Brown in 1943 in Breckenridge.

Survivors include her husband; one son, Danny Brown of Stephenville; three daughters, Sissy Poston of Granbury, Georgeanna Bostick of Bedford and Pam Bruner of Baytown; three sisters, Juanita Arnold of Austin, Dee Drum of Albuquerque, N.M., and Nell Ray Hardesty of Olney; 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, the American Heart Association or to the donor's favorite charity.

Robert Yeldell

HASKELL - Robert Yeldell, 59, died Sunday at his home.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Greater Independent Baptist Church with the Rev. Camilla Wade officiating. Burial will be in Willow Cemetery, directed by Holden-McCauley Funeral Directors.

Mr. Yeldell was born in Stamford and was a night watchman for the city of Haskell until his illness. He was a longtime member of Greater Independent Baptist Church. He married Mae Lou Jordan in 1968 in Haskell.

Survivors include his wife, of Haskell; three daughters, Birdie Mae Goudeau of Haskell, Patricia Jordan of Stamford and Edith Williams of Arlington; one son, Frank Jordan Jr. of Haskell; three brothers, Billy Yeldell of Stamford, Don Yeldell of Mitchelleville, Md., and Charles Yeldell of Washington; and six grandchildren.

Lenn Bodine Jr.

NOVATA, Calif. - Lenn L. Bodine Jr., 80, died Sunday at a local hospital after a lengthy illness.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements were handled by Kiker-Seale Funeral Home in Colorado City.

Mr. Bodine graduated from Colorado City High School in 1934, attended Texas A&M University and graduated from Hardin-Simmons University in 1938. He taught in Colorado City until 1942 and was a Coast Guard veteran of World War II. He graduated from Stanford University with a master's degree and lived in California the rest of his life.

Survivors include one daughter, Toni Carr of Fairfield, Calif.; three brothers, Homer Bodine, Edwin Bodine and Truman Bodine, all of Colorado City; and one sister, Aleene Monroe of Raton, N.M.

Stanford Horton

RISING STAR - Stanford Horton, 97, of Fredericksburg died Saturday at a Fredericksburg nursing home.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Higginbotham Funeral Home Chapel with Dick Williams officiating, assisted by James McLeod. Burial will be in Rising Star Cemetery.

Mr. Horton was born in Rising Star and lived in Rising Star all his life until moving to Fredericksburg last year. He was a retired pharmacy manager for Star Drug Co. and a member of First Baptist Church.

Survivors include one sister, Jo Beth Winter of Kerrville, and several nieces and nephews.

Eula Reeves Fredley

SWEETWATER - Eula Reeves Fredley, 89, of DeSoto died Monday at a DeSoto nursing home.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home Chapel with Mike Ensminger officiating. Burial will be in Garden of Memories.

Mrs. Fredley was born in Dora and taught in the Roscoe and Nolan school systems for 20 years. She graduated from Hardin-Simmons University and moved from Sweetwater to Florida in 1978. She was a Baptist. She married Neely Reeves in 1935 in Sweetwater. She married Ted Fredley in 1978. Both preceded her in death.

Survivors include one daughter, Neelia Kennimer of Emory; one brother, Oscar Ensminger of Sweetwater; one sister, Ada Heflin of Sweetwater; and two grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Nolan/Divide Community Center, P.O. Box 30, Nolan 79537.

Grace Bowden

MUNDAY - Grace Bowden died Sunday at a local nursing center.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Johnson Memorial Cemetery with the Rev. William Sterling officiating, directed by McCauley-Smith Funeral Home.

Mrs. Bowden was born in Comanche County and moved to Baltimore, Md., in 1934. She worked for Social Security in Washington, D.C., and Maryland and moved to Munday after retiring in 1954. She was a former school teacher and home demonstration agent for Knox County. She was a member of First United Methodist Church. She married Ira Louis Bowden in 1933 in Munday; he preceded her in death.

Survivors include one sister, Floy Ann Fowler of Dublin; five nephews and four nieces.
