Josephine Jane Conklin
Josephine Jane Conklin, 75, died Wednesday at her home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Second Baptist Church with the Revs. Clayton Pennington and Jerry Shields officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park, directed by North's Funeral Home, 242 Orange.
Mrs. Conklin was born in Ofuskee, Okla., and grew up in the Anson and Hamby area. She was a homemaker. She was the widow of Herbert Cheek, whom she married in 1945. She married Earl Conklin in 1962 in Abilene and was a member of Second Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, of Abilene; one daughter, Sharon Harbin of Abilene; two stepsons, Larry Conklin of Yucca Valley, Calif., and Gary Conklin of Bakersfield, Calif.; three stepdaughters, Judith Moore of Fullerton, Calif., and Connie Mason and Fay Phelan, both of Fort Thomas, Ky.; one brother, Rocky Cheek of San Antonio; one sister, Neva Dell Newton of Abilene; 13 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
The family will be at 1125 Portland.
Visitation will be from 6-7:30 p.m. today in the funeral home.

Larry Lee Logsdon
Larry Lee Logsdon, 61, died Monday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 542 Hickory, with Ernie Kight officiating. Burial with Masonic rites and military honors will be in Elmwood Memorial Park.
Mr. Logsdon was born in Harrisburg, Ill., and served in the U.S. Air Force in the Korean conflict and Vietnam before retiring in 1977 as a master sergeant. He moved to Abilene in 1964 from Whiteman Air Force Base in Missouri. He married Loretta Moore in 1964 in Abilene and graduated from Cisco Junior College. He was a member and past master of Masonic Lodge 559, and was a 32nd degree Mason. He also was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2012.
Survivors include his wife, of Abilene; one son, John Greggory Logsdon of Abilene; one daughter, Shelle Dawnette Clark of Merkel; two brothers, John Zeigler of Illinois and Jerry Karnes of Virginia; three sisters, Carol Nolen of Harrisburg, Ill., Helen Markovich of Arizona and Donna Ashe of Florida; and four grandchildren.
Memorials may be sent to a favorite charity.
The family will be at 517 Kirkwood.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today in the funeral home.

Bennie Lee Young Jr.
Bennie Lee Young Jr., 69, died Tuesday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 3 p.m. today in North's Funeral Home Memorial Chapel, 4002 Buffalo Gap Road, with Dr. Cliff Stewart and the Rev. Jim Berbiglia officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park.
Mr. Young grew up in Waco and married Rosemary Nicholson in 1950 in Palestine. He graduated from Baylor University in 1953. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, and managed the Tulia and Gainesville chambers of commerce from 1953-60. He then headed the Lufkin office of Boy Scouts of America until 1965. Moving to Abilene, he worked in the local office of Boy Scouts of America for eight years. He then developed and built the Mardridge House.
He was a field representative for the West Texas Rehabilitation Center's public relations department from 1979 until retiring in 1995. He also was a member of First Central Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include his wife, of Abilene; one son, Bennie Lee Young III of Hawley; one daughter, Laurie Young Stevens of Austin; one sister, Mrs. J.C. Berbiglia of San Antonio; his mother, Jewel Young of Waco; and five grandchildren.
Memorials may be sent to West Texas Rehabilitation Center, 4601 Hartford, Abilene 79605; and Presbyterian Medical Care Mission, 302 Medical Drive, Abilene 79601.

Hoyt Bynum
Hoyt Bynum, 80, died Tuesday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Potosi United Methodist Church with the Rev. Bill Alexander and Charles Dunnam officiating. Burial will be in Potosi Cemetery, directed by North's Funeral Home, 242 Orange.
Mr. Bynum was born in Potosi and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He married Veda Jones in 1946 in Tuscola and worked for C.B. Ray Service Station for 15 years and Gibson's Discount Center for 15 years before retiring. He was a farmer and served on the church board at Potosi United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, of Potosi; two daughters, Laura Bynum of Weatherford and Toni Blanchard of Potosi; two sisters, Ruby Wiltrout of Potosi and Mamie Gray of Abilene; two brothers, A.T. "Babe" Bynum and Calvin Bynum, both of Abilene; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be sent to Potosi United Methodist Church or Potosi Cemetery Association.
Visitation will be from 6-7:30 p.m. today in the funeral home.

Mary Ann Archer Palmer
Mary Ann Archer Palmer, 57, of Fort Worth and formerly of Abilene, died Monday in a Fort Worth hospital.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. today in Elmwood Memorial Park with the Rev. John Lee officiating, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.
Ms. Palmer was born in Anson and graduated from Albany High School in 1957. She moved to Fort Worth in 1985 from Abilene. She worked as a dispatcher for American Airlines in Fort Worth and was a Methodist.
Survivors include one son, Charles Lynn "Dusty" Sparks Jr. of Fort Worth; one daughter, Christi Leanne Palmer of Fort Worth; her mother, Josephine Archer of Abilene; two brothers, Kenneth Archer and Gary Archer, both of Abilene; one sister, Dorothy Mashburn of Waco; and three grandchildren.

Hollis Wayne Clifton
HAWLEY - Hollis Wayne Clifton, 60, died Tuesday in Albuquerque, N.M.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Hawley Cemetery with the Rev. Lee Welch officiating, directed by Lawrence-Adams Funeral Home of Anson.
Mr. Clifton was born in Albany and attended school in Stamford. He was a U.S. Coast Guard veteran and moved to Hawley in 1967 from Eastland. He worked as a maintenance supervisor for Pride Refining Co. before retiring in 1990. He was a Mason and was a Baptist.
Survivors include two sons, Allen Clifton of Hawley and Bobby Pennington of Crowley; one daughter, Darla Murray of Abilene; two brothers, George Clifton of Breckenridge and Kenneth Clifton of Ranger; six sisters, Sadie Andrews of Lamesa, Frances Geiswite of Los Lunas, N.M., Jewell Crouch of Duncanville, Alice Baker of Ranger, Joyce Miller of Dallas and Tobitha Baker of Rowlett; and two grandchildren.

Juanita Land
SNYDER - Juanita M. Land, 69, lifelong local resident, died Tuesday in a local hospital after a sudden illness.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in East Side Church of Christ with Homer Anderson officiating. Burial will be in Hillside Memorial Gardens, directed by Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.
Mrs. Land was born in Snyder and was employed by Parks Associates, formerly Beverly Enterprises, for more than 30 years. She worked at the Roscoe Nursing Home and, for many years, at the Snyder Health Care Center. She was a former administrator of the Snyder Health Care Center and, since 1991, had been the administrator of the Rotan Nursing Home. She also worked with the Senior Citizen Olympics and was a member of American Business Women's Association, ladies auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and East Side Baptist Church. She was the widow of Stanford Land, whom she married in 1945 in Snyder.
Survivors include three daughters, Vicki Solla and Patricia Shands, both of Odessa, and Judy Stirman of Brownwood; four sons, Baron Land of Fort Worth, Dusty Land of Midland, Rocky Land of Snyder and Sandy Land of San Angelo; her mother, Opal Nicks of Snyder; three sisters, Ramona Anthony of Abilene, Gay Nell Jarvis of Andre, Texas, and Marjorie Trammell of Levelland; two brothers, Freddie Ray Nicks of Ozona and Tommy Nicks of Edinburg; 14 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Gladys Nell Rose
LAWN - Gladys Nell Rose, 75, died Wednesday in an Abilene hospital.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday in Lawn Baptist Church with the Rev. Price Mathieson officiating. Burial will be in Midway Cemetery near Goldsboro, directed by Fry-Bartlett Funeral Home of Tuscola.
Mrs. Rose was born in Moran, where she graduated from high school. She moved to Abilene in 1947 and Lawn in 1961. She was a homemaker, and was a member of Lawn Senior Citizens and Lawn Baptist Church. She was the widow of J.B. Rose, whom she married in 1958 in San Angelo.
Survivors include one son, Ron Whitfield of Lawn; one sister, Ada Lois Millican of Abilene; one brother, Guy Thomason of Moran; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be sent to West Texas Rehabilitation Center, 4601 Hartford, Abilene 79605.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. today in the funeral home.

Eleanor Lee McFarling Tracy
BROWNWOOD - Eleanor Lee McFarling Tracy, 92, died Tuesday in a local nursing home.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Davis-Morris Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Glen Reddell and Robert Williams officiating. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Rose Hill Cemetery in Tulia.
Mrs. Tracy was born in Raton and moved to Tulia at an early age. She graduated from Baylor University and the University of Southern California, and formerly worked at Ruleville Baptist Church in Ruleville, Miss. She was a longtime Brownwood resident. She was a homemaker and was a ladies auxiliary volunteer at Brownwood Regional Hospital. She taught Sunday school and played the piano at First Baptist Church for many years, and was the widow of Nat Tracy, whom she married in 1927.
Survivors include one brother, Joe McFarling of Neosho, Mo.; one sister, Elizabeth Wilson of Albuquerque, N.M.; and six nephews and three nieces.
Memorials may be sent to Dr. Nat Tracy Scholarship Fund at Howard Payne University in Brownwood.
