Homer Hulon Harrison

Homer Hulon Harrison, 88, died Tuesday in a local hospital.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 542 Hickory, with the Rev. Robert Lacewell officiating. Burial will be in Tecumseh Cemetery.

Mr. Harrison was born in Clyde and moved to Abilene in 1908. He attended Abilene High School and worked as a surveyor for John White Co. for 10 years. He was self-employed for 20 years before retiring. He also was a rancher for several years. He was a Baptist and was the widower of Anna Lee Stevenson Harrison, whom he married in 1932 in Abilene.

Survivors include one daughter, Dorothy Ann Harris of Abilene; two sons, John Harrison of Lincoln, Neb., and Charles Harrison of Arlington; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one niece and one nephew.

Anna Lee Harrison

Services for Anna Lee Harrison, whose husband Homer Hulon Harrison died Tuesday, have been rescheduled for 2 p.m. today in Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 542 Hickory. Burial will be in Tecumseh Cemetery.

Mrs. Harrison, 83, died Sunday at her home.

Vivian Cole Fox

CARBON - Vivian Cole Fox, 76, of Abilene and formerly of Carbon, died Monday in an Abilene hospital.

Graveside services will be at 3:30 p.m. Thursday in Carbon Restland Cemetery with Don Woods officiating, directed by Edwards Funeral Home of Eastland.

Mrs. Fox was born in Carbon and graduated from Carbon High School, and Hardin-Simmons University in 1971. She taught at Desdemona, Carbon, Baird, and in Abilene, Madison Junior High and Abilene and Cooper High schools for a total of 26 years before retiring. She worked as a substitute teacher until 1995 and was the widow of A.E. Fox, whom she married in 1939 in Putnam.

Survivors include a longtime companion, Glendell Williams of Abilene; two daughters, Elizabeth Yates of Lake Whales, Fla., and Carol Brown of Abilene; two half-sisters, Mildred Teeple of Colorado and Drew Wranoskay of Kansas; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two nephews.

Memorials may be sent to Multiple Sclerosis Association, American Lung Association or American Heart Association.

Ernestine Jamieson

ASPERMONT - Ernestine Jamieson, 87, of Conroe and formerly of Aspermont, died Monday in Conroe.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Aspermont Cemetery with the Rev. J.R. Williams officiating, directed by McCoy Funeral Home.

Mrs. Jamieson was born in Swenson and was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Abilene.

Survivors include three sisters, Celestia Davis of Clear Lake, and Derah Stanley and Barbara Flowers, both of Conroe; two brothers, Noah Brannen of Tokyo, Japan, and Charles Brannen of Las Vegas, Nev.; and many nieces and nephews.

Joe Wallace 'Frog' Stevens

CLYDE - Joe Wallace "Frog" Stevens, 80, whose wife grew up in the Munday area, died Monday in an Abilene nursing home.

Graveside services were held Tuesday in Gillespie Cemetery in Munday with the Rev. John Hall officiating, directed by McCauley-Smith Funeral Home of Munday.

Mr. Stevens was born in Haskell and served in World War II. He was in the U.S. Air Force for about 22 years as a pilot and aircraft mechanic. He was a former prisoner of war and a survivor of the Bataan Death March. He moved to Clyde in 1977 and retired as an aircraft mechanic. He was the widower of Mella Maurine Johnson Stevens, whom he married in 1946 in Norman, Okla.

Survivors include two sons, Wade Stevens of Abilene and Barry Stevens of Honolulu; and three grandchildren.

Leamon Dee Herrington

WINTERS - Leamon Dee Herrington, 82, died Tuesday in a local hospital.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Winters First Baptist Church with the Rev. Glenn Shoemake officiating. Burial will be in Dewey Cemetery in Lawn, directed by Winters Funeral Home.

Mr. Herrington was born in Moro in Taylor County and lived in Taylor and Runnels counties most of his life. He married Lavonda Wood in 1940 in Haskell and was a stockfarmer. He worked as a truck driver for Bob Loyd LP Gas Co. and was a member of First Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, of Winters; two sons, Wayne Herrington of Abilene and Randy Herrington of Winters; one brother, Willard Herrington of Abilene; three sisters, Billie Lusk of San Angelo, Pauline Williams of Fort Worth and Wilma Black of Abilene; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Gentry Day

KNOX CITY - Gentry Day, 79, died Tuesday in an Abilene hospital after a long illness.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Knox City Church of Christ with David Boren officiating. Burial will be in Knox City Cemetery, directed by Smith Funeral Home.

Mr. Day was born in Wise County and was a lifelong resident of Haskell and Knox counties. He was a farmer and cattleman, and was a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife, Geneva McGregor Gunnels Day of Andrews; three daughters, Sharlyn Williams of Abilene, Gail Hart of Garland and Roxye Day of Santa Fe, N.M.; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.

Juan Lopez Ortiz

BAIRD - Juan Lopez Ortiz, 30, of Abilene, died Friday near Crane.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. today in Ross Cemetery Annex with the Rev. Ricardo Jiminez officiating, directed by Parker Funeral Home.

Mr. Ortiz was born in Ixmiquilpan, Hidalgo, Mexico, and moved to Abilene in 1987. He worked for Yates and Sons Inc. in Abilene.

Survivors include his wife, Maria Baltazar Palma of Ixmiquilpan, Hidalgo, Mexico; two sons, Juan Hector Lopez Baltazar and Emanuel Lopez Baltazar, both of Ixmiquilpan, Hidalgo, Mexico; his mother, Juana Ortiz Felipe of Ixmiquilpan, Hidalgo, Mexico; two brothers, Martin Perez Ortiz of Abilene and Jose Luis Perez Ortiz of Ixmiquilpan, Hidalgo, Mexico; and one sister, Catalina Perez Ortiz of Ixmiquilpan, Hidalgo, Mexico.

Terry Brent Moore

RISING STAR - Terry Brent Moore, 48, of Waco, brother of a Rising Star resident, died Monday in a Dallas hospital.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Rising Star First Baptist Church with George Wilson and Bill Wadley officiating. Burial will be in Rising Star Cemetery, directed by Higginbotham Funeral Home.

Mr. Moore was born in Gorman and worked as a welder for Wells Cargo. He moved to Waco in 1973 from Dublin and was a member of Lakeview Baptist Church in Waco.

Survivors include his wife, Terry Diane Chambers Moore of Waco; one son, Brent Moore of Waco; one daughter, Tanya Moore of Waco; his parents, Hazel and Gibb Moore of Sidney; two brothers, Edwin Moore and Harold Moore, both of Clyde; and two sisters, Ladell Hamer of Rising Star and Karen Wadley of Grand Prairie.

Alma Christine Hardman Havins

GORDON - Alma Christine Hardman Havins, 84, of Dallas and formerly of Gordon, died Tuesday in Dallas.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Gordon First Baptist Church with the Rev. Randy Smith officiating. Burial will be in New Gordon Cemetery, directed by Edwards Funeral Home of Strawn.

Mrs. Havins was born in Patilo and graduated from Gordon High School. She attended Draughan's Business College and worked as a secretary at West Side Baptist Church in Wichita Falls, the Irving school district for many years, and also in Dallas. She was a homemaker and was active with the Thurber reunions. She was a Baptist and was the widow of Weldon Hardman.

Survivors include her husband, Bruce Havins of Burleson; one daughter, Rosemary Kretzschmar of Dallas; one son, John Hardman of Dallas; one sister, Audine Kline of Keller; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
