Milton Myers

Milton Myers, 74, died Saturday at a local hospital.

The body was cremated. Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at North's Funeral Home Memorial Chapel, 242 Orange, with the Rev. David Cason officiating.

Mr. Myers grew up in Peacock and was a Marine veteran of World War II. He was a Civil Service computer analyst for more than 30 years. He moved to Abilene in 1990 and was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6873 and American Legion.

Survivors include his wife, Chong Ok Myers of Indianapolis; two sons, Peter Myers and Jesse Myers, both of Indianapolis; four sisters, Ruth Olson of Madera, Calif., Billie Spraberry of San Lorenco, Calif., Thelma Childress of Talequah, Okla., and Crystal Hopper of Jayton; and one brother, Earl Myers of Reno, Nev.

Tammy Sanders

Tammy K. Sanders, 38, of Abilene died Saturday at a local hospital.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Trinity Baptist Church with Kevin Kennedy officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park, directed by Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy. 277 South.

Mrs. Sanders was born in Ennis and was a member of Trinity Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Mike Sanders of Abilene; one son, Jonathan Sanders of Abilene; her mother, Joan P. Jackson of Ennis; two brothers, Mike G. Jackson of Chester, Va., and Ricky K. Jackson of Dallas; one sister, Sherry Blalock of Skidmore; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will be at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. today.

Valente Ramos Sr.

ANSON - Valente Ramos Sr., 86, died Saturday at a local hospital.

Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today at St. Michael's Catholic Church. Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church with the Rev. Oscar Del Rio officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, directed by Lawrence-Adams Funeral Home.

Mr. Ramos was born in Floresville and moved to Anson in 1951. He was a retired farmer and a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church and LULAC. He married Juanita Ramos in 1953 in Anson.

Survivors include six sons, Lucas Ramos of Atlanta, Jasinto Ramos of Waxahachie, George Ramos of Batesville, Ark., and Alviono Ramos, Galvino Ramos and Valente Ramos Jr., all of San Antonio; five daughters, Janie Fernandez, Lupe Cerda and Dora Ramos, all of Anson, Chona Silva of Abilene and Elizabeth Castor of Batesville; four brothers, Frank Ramos Sr. of Anson, Lalo Ramos and Soloman Herrera, both of Stamford, and Gilberto Herrera of Milwaukee; seven sisters, Beatrice Herrera of Anson and Viviana Sanchez, Frances Delongon, Maria Herrera, Jackie Herrera, Santos Rodriques and Dominga Salazar, all of Corpus Christi; 30 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

The body will be at St. Michael's Catholic Church until service time.

Jerry Turner

ST. CHARLES, Ill. - Jerry E. Turner, 63, died Saturday at his home.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Yurs Funeral Home. Burial will be in Whitney Cemetery in Campton Township, Ill.

Mr. Turner was born in Converse, La., and grew up in Abilene. He graduated from Abilene High School and from McMurry College with a bachelor's degree. He was an Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War and retired as a captain for United Airlines in 1998.

Survivors include his wife, Judy Turner; three sons, Mark Turner of Portland, Ore., Clayton Turner of Seattle and Ricky Turner of Keizer, Ore.; two daughters, Amy Suzanne Turner and Tracy Michelle Turner, both of St. Charles; and nine grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

The family will be at the funeral home from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday.

Daniel Ramirez

MUNDAY - Daniel F. Ramirez, 51, died Saturday in Haskell County.

Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today at McCauley-Smith Funeral Home. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Saint Joseph's Catholic Church in Rhineland with the Rev. Jeremy Myers officiating, assisted by the Rev. Kevin Fagan. Burial will be in Johnson Memorial Cemetery.

Mr. Ramirez was born in Knox City and lived in Knox County all his life. He was a contractor and owner-operator of Home Building Center. He was a member of Saint Joseph's Catholic Church. He was president of Munday Little League from the early 1980s until 1993 and assistant district administrator for Little League Texas District 6 for five years. He was a member of the Munday Chamber of Commerce for 27 years and was on the finance committee of St. Joseph's. He was a member of Toastmasters Club, the Munday Volunteer Fire Department and Munday Lions Club.

Survivors include four sons, Danny Lynn Ramirez and Brian Ramirez, both of Munday, Jeffrey Ramirez of Wichita Falls and Jason Ramirez of Abilene; six brothers, Claudio Ramirez, David Ramirez, Roman Ramirez and Richard Ramirez, all of Wichita Falls, Victor Ramirez of Seymour and Eugenio Ramirez of California; four sisters, Ynocencia "Chencha" Barbosa and Lupe Valdez, both of Wichita Falls, and Refugia "Cuca" Lopez and Pauline Pedroza, both of Dallas; and one granddaughter.

Golda Marion Kile Simpson

STAMFORD - Golda Marion Kile Simpson, 92, died Sunday at a local hospital.

Memorial services will be at 9 a.m. Tuesday at Tankersley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jessie Morton officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery in Anson, directed by Tankersley Funeral Home.

Mrs. Simpson was born in Gorman and grew up in Rains County, moving to Anson in 1924 and to Stamford in 1931. She was a Baptist and a homemaker. She married Hardin Simpson in 1924 in Anson.

Survivors include two sons, L.H. Simpson and Cotton Simpson, both of Stamford; one daughter, Jeri Denson of Stamford; four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Audrey Denton

KNOX CITY - Audrey P. Denton, 99, who owned and operated Denton Grocery Store/Station for more than 50 years before retiring, died Sunday at an Abilene hospital after a lengthy illness.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church with the Revs. John Gillespie and James Patterson officiating. Burial will be in Knox City Cemetery, directed by Smith Funeral Home.

Mr. Denton was born in Eastland County and moved to Knox County in 1909. He was a farmer and a member of Knox City Lions Club, Knox City Chamber of Commerce and First Baptist Church. He married Ruth Moreland in 1927 in Benjamin.

Survivors include his wife of Knox City; three sons, A.P. Denton Jr. of Knox City, Burt Denton of Houston and David Denton of Arlington; three daughters, Ruth Pridgen of Tigard, Ore., Lois Bruton of Olney and Lou Vail of Fort Worth; 14 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Brazos Valley Care Home Activity Fund, Knox City 79529.

The family will be at the funeral home from 7-8 p.m. Tuesday.

Ethel Lorene Martin

BROWNWOOD - Ethel Lorene Martin, 92, died Friday at her home.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Davis-Morris Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Richard Hetzel officiating. Burial will be in Eastlawn Memorial Park.

Mrs. Martin was born in Ballinger and had lived in Brownwood for 74 years. She was a bookkeeper, buyer and saleslady for Edmondson's Women's Wear for many years. She was a Methodist. She married Pryor Martin in 1927 in Coleman; he preceded her in death.

Survivors include one daughter, Elwanda Bruce of Brownwood; four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Kidney Health Foundation.

The family will be at the funeral home from 7-8 p.m. today.

Dorece Maynor

BROWNWOOD - Dorece Maynor, 89, died Saturday at a local nursing home.

Services will be at 4 p.m. today at Davis-Morris Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. R.J. Elkins and Charles Parish officiating. Burial will be in Zephyr Cemetery.

Mrs. Maynor was born in Voss, where she lived all her life. She was a retired seamstress, a homemaker and a member of Avenue D Baptist Church. She married Solmon Floyd Maynor in 1927 in Zephyr; he preceded her in death.

Survivors include one son, Harley Maynor of Brownwood; three sisters, Julia Townsend of Brownwood, Montie Ward of San Angelo and Flora Mae Stovall of Ballinger; one brother, Bergess Stovall of Bryan; six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Mollie Medford

EASTLAND - Mollie E. Medford, 94, a longtime Carbon resident, died Saturday in Brownwood.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. today in Murray Cemetery near Carbon with the Rev. Mark Rogers officiating, directed by Edwards Funeral Home.

Mrs. Medford was born in Springtown and moved to the Sipe Springs area and later to Carbon, where she attended school. She lived in Okra a short time, then returned to Carbon, where she lived for more than 65 years. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Carbon and later Eastland and was a homemaker. She married W.M. "Toad" Medford in Brownwood.

Survivors include one daughter, Dude Ramsey of Eastland; two grandsons and two great-grandsons.
