Janet T. "Jan" Cheselka
(March 12, 1941 - September 5, 2011)

Janet T. “Jan” Mehling Cheselka, 70, of Liberty, died Monday, September 5, 2011, at her residence.

There will be a gathering for family and friends at Jan’s residence at 7:00 p.m., Friday, September 9, 2011.

Arrangements are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Jan was born March 12, 1941 in Duluth, MN, was a former resident of Mt. Belvieu, and has resided in the Liberty area for the past 37 years.

She held a bachelor’s degree in psychology, studied criminal justice, was a former police officer in Florida, former volunteer for T.V.E. and member of the Moss Bluff VFD, and a retired security guard from Bayer Chemical.

She also enjoyed horses, trail rides, flea markets, and playing dominoes and cards.

Mrs. Cheselka was preceded in death by her husband of 36 years: Ernie Cheselka, son: Jerry Lee Cheselka, and mother: Mary Eleanor Courtney.

She is survived by her sons: Jason Willis of Liberty, David Willis of FL, and Jeff Willis of FL, daughter: Debbie Willis of FL, stepfather: Joe Poncarelli of FL, brothers: Terry Miller of Pasadena and John Courtney, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

David Lynn Bauerle
(April 18, 1949 - September 2, 2011)

David Lynn Bauerle, 62, of Dayton, died Friday, September 2, 2011, at his residence.

Memorial services will be held at a later date.

Arrangements are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

David was born April 18, 1949 in Utica, NY, to parents; Herbert R. and Edna Bulcum Bauerle, a former resident of Oklahoma, and has resided in the Dayton area for the past 12 years.

He was a superintendent in construction for Brown and Root and international worker for KBR of Houston, attended the First United Methodist Church, and enjoyed old cars, gardening, boating, jewelry making, and carpentry.

Mr. Bauerle was preceded in death by his father: Herbert R. Bauerle.

He is survived by his wife: Willa E. “Sunny” Forrest of Dayton, son: David “Dee” Bauerle, Jr. of SC, stepdaughter: Tammy Souther and husband Gary of OK, stepson: Mark Zareski and wife Diane of NC, mother: Edna Bulcum Bauerle of SC, brother: Bruce Bauerle and wife Connie of San Augustine, sister: Gale Livingston and husband Charles of SC, and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

David Bauerle, 62, of Dayton, Texas, formally of Orangeburg, entered into eternal rest Friday, September 2, 2011, at his residence following a long fought battle against cancer.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, September 8, 2011, at The Episcopal Church of the Redeemer with rev. Frank Larisey officiating.

David was born in Utica, NY, on April 18, 1949.

He was the son of Edna Bulcum Bauerle and the late Herbert "Red" Bauerle.

He was first educated in Whitesboro, NY until a move to Orangeburg with his family with Utica Tool Company in 1962.

He attended Camden Military Academy where he was the bugler for the school.

David was in the construction business for over 40 years.

His most successful accomplishment was being promoted to Senior Construction Superintendent with KBR International (formerly Browne & Root, Houston, TX).

He retired from Jacobs Construction Company as a superintendent after having worked his last ten years overseas in the country of Chad, Africa.

He was awarded the Quality Excellence Award multiple times for his contributions to the Chad/Cameron Development Project.

David contributed through M. D. Anderson Cancer Research Institute, Houston, TX towards the experimental development in the cure for cancer.

David is survived by his wife: Sunny of Dayton, TX, his mother: Edna Bauerle of Orangeburg, his son: David Bauerle, Jr. of St. George, a step-daughter: Tammy of Oklahoma City, OK, a step-son: Mark of Raleigh, NC, his sister: Gale Livingston and her husband Charles of Orangeburg, his brother: Bruce Bauerle and his wife Connie of San Augustine, TX, three grandson: Deacon, Dawson, and Scott Bauerle and one granddaughter, one great-grandson: Alden Bauerle, one niece: Geri Livingston Wood and her daughter: Abigale and two nephews: Jason and Todd Livingston of Orangeburg.

Memorial may be made to the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer Youth Activities Fund or the charity of one’s choice.

Archelene New Johnson
(December 16, 1929 - September 29, 2011)

Archelene J. New Johnson, 81, of Cleveland, died Thursday, September 29, 2011, at her residence.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, October 3, 2011, at the the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel in Cleveland.

Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., Sunday, at the funeral home.

Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Cleveland.

Archelene was born December 16, 1929 in Houston, to parents; LeRoy New and Marguerite Corley, a former resident of Houston, and has resided in the Cleveland area for the past 22 years.

She retired as a secretary from Stauffer Chemical, a former elementary school tutor and hospice volunteer, a steadfast friend, a devoted wife, and tireless mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and loving sister.

Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her father: LeRoy New, mother: Marguerite Corley Hopkins, and grandson: Colin McCarty.

She is survived by her husband of 44 years: James “Ralph” Johnson of Cleveland, son: Stanley McCarty and wife Isabel of Cleveland, brother: Jimmy New of Santa Fe, sister: Zella Wallace and husband Calvin of Santa Fe, grandchildren: Christopher McCarty, Casey Hurtt, Kimberley Denson, and Kellie Eleby, great-grandchildren: Chris McCarty, Marguerite McCarty, Darrin McCarty, Araven “Missy” Eleby, Colin Hurtt, Alena Denson, Kristiana Denson, Ty Hurtt, Mikala Denson, and Chris Denson, Jr., granddaughter-in-law: Lydia Spencer, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Brenda Kay Swearingen
(December 18, 1953 - October 7, 2011)

Brenda Kay Swearingen, 57, of Port Neches, died Friday, October 7, 2011, at the Baptist Hospital in Beaumont.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, October 10, 2011, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton with burial following at Hardin Chapel Cemetery in Hardin.

Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., Sunday, at the funeral home.

Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Brenda was born December 18, 1953 in Beaumont to parents; W. W. Swearingen and Louise M. Mueller, a former resident of Liberty, and resident of Port Neches.

She attended Alvin High School, was a retired broker for Smith-Barney, and was Methodist by faith.

She also enjoyed crocheting, reading, cooking, and especially spending time with her family.

Miss Swearingen was preceded in death by her husband: Donnie Anderson, father: W. W. Swearingen, mother: Louise M. Mueller Allen, father: Alonzo “Lonnie” Allen, Jr., and brothers: Byron and Larry Swearingen, and Bryan Allen.

She is survived by her brothers: Larry G. Allen and wife Wanda of LaBelle, Harold W. Allen and wife Debbie of LaBelle, James Fredrick Allen and wife Stephanie of Port Neches, and Michael Swearingen of Liberty, mother: Neeta Swearingen of Liberty, nieces: Ashley N. Allen Castrogiovanni and husband Adam of Germany, Brittany L. Allen of LaBelle, Misty Sommer and husband Greg of Conroe, Telicia Swearingen of Atmore, AL, great nieces and nephews: Hailey, Gracie, Destiny, Devon, Gregory, Wyatt, and Presley, and numerous other relatives, and friends.

Betty Ann Martin
(April 5, 1936 - September 8, 2011)

Betty Ann Martin, age 75, of Cleveland, Texas, passed away Thursday, September 8, 2011.

She was born April 5, 1936 in Hermitage, Arkansas to parents, Kyle and Onie Inez Thornton who preceded her in death along with her brothers, James Thornton and Bobby Thornton.

She leaves behind a huge, close-knitted family of sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws, nieces, nephews and all their kids.

Also, friends beyond measure from long ago to just a few days ago.

They were all special to Betty.

A special blessing goes out to Dr. Glen Berwick.

Their relationship goes back almost 25 years ago, and she always had faith in the care he provided.

Her memories are left to her loving husband of 55 years, Lewis LaVert Martin; and her daughters, Vanya Rhea, Martha Buckner, and Brenda Colquitt and husband, Joel; sister, Margarett Hollingsworth and husband, Steve; grandchildren, Carissa Magras and husband, Brandon, Case Mitchell, Abbey Mitchell and many other loving and caring family members.

The family will welcome family and friends Saturday, September 10, 2011, 5:00-9:00 p.m. at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Cleveland, Texas.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, September 11, 2011, 2:00 p.m. at Pace-Stancil Chapel, Cleveland, Texas.

Albert Morris Williams
(December 12, 1920 - September 28, 2011)

Albert Morris Williams, 90, of Cleveland, Texas, passed away Wednesday, September 28, 2011.

He was born December 12, 1920 in Cleveland, Texas to parents, William Howard and Louise Williams who preceded him in death along with his brother, Ray Williams.

Survivors include his wife, Rosalie Williams; sons, Billy Richard Williams and wife, Angel; sister, Mildred Yancey; nephews, Howard Williams; nieces, Peggy Yancey, Patricia Beyer, and Carolyn Steely; and many faithful friends.

Visitation will be held Friday, September 30, 2011, 5:00-9:00 p.m. at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Cleveland, Texas.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 1, 2011, 10:00 a.m., First United Methodist Church, 100 N. William Barnett, Cleveland, Texas with interment following at Cleveland Memorial Park Cemetery.
