Mariann Neblett

SNYDER - Mariann Neblett, 53, died Wednesday in a Big Spring hospital after a sudden illness.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home Chapel with Rick Cunningham officiating. Burial will be in Snyder Cemetery.

Mrs. Neblett was born in Roscoe and lived in Snyder most of her life. She married Robert Neblett in 1962 in Hermleigh and worked at the TCA Cable office for many years. She was formerly employed by Western Texas College. She was a member of 37th Street Church of Christ.

Survivors include her husband, of Snyder; one son, Robert Neblett Jr. of St. Louis; one daughter, Tonya Robison of Angleton; her stepmother, Ruby Reeves of Snyder; three sisters, Kathryn Booth and Willie Mae Vaughn, both of Carthage, and Barbara Hilchey of Longview; two brothers, Kenneth Reeves of Abilene and Lloyd Delmer Reeves of Albuquerque, N.M.; two stepsisters, Sherry Jenkins of Snyder and Sandra Simmons of Midland; three stepbrothers, Donald Fritz of Snyder, Jimmy Fritz of Del Rio and Richard Fritz of El Paso; and one grandchild.

John 'Shorty' Fayo

BRECKENRIDGE - John "Shorty" Fayo, 75, died Thursday at his home.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Idalou Cemetery, directed by Melton Funeral Home.

Mr. Fayo was born in Newburg, N.Y., and married Doris Mann in 1942 in Lubbock. He served as an aircraft mechanic with the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II and, while living in Odessa, worked at Miethers Machine Shop, Sharp Drilling and Enco Machine Shop. He owned Rig Service Inc. in Odessa before moving to Breckenridge in 1987. He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Survivors include his wife, of Breckenridge; one son, Johnny Fayo of Odessa; one sister, Rosalie Ceriale of Rock Tavern, N.Y.; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Ruby Allen

RISING STAR - Ruby I. Allen, 77, died Thursday in a local nursing home.

Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in Rising Star Cemetery with Bill Dodds officiating, directed by Higginbotham Funeral Home.

Mrs. Allen was born in Palestine and married Ethan Allen in 1964 in Brownwood. She worked as a sales clerk for Thompson Surplus in Brownwood for 20 years before retiring. She moved to Rising Star in 1983 from Bangs and was a Baptist.

Survivors include her husband, of Rising Star; two daughters, Sandra Leonard and Connie Adams, both of Rising Star; one sister, Alene Frost of Rising Star; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Erma Randell

BIG SPRING - Erma Randell, 79, died Wednesday in a local nursing home after a long illness.

Services will be at 9 a.m. today in Myers & Smith Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Doug Shelley officiating. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. in Bangs Cemetery.

Mrs. Randell was born in Anson and, while living in Lueders, she and her husband, W.P. Bailey, owned and operated the Lueders Cafe. She moved to Big Spring in 1956 from Lueders and moved from Big Spring in 1973. She returned to Big Spring in 1984. She worked for the Big Spring Police Department as a meter maid for eight years. While living at Lake Brownwood, she was a dietician at the state 4-H center. She was the widow of W.P. Bailey, whom she married in 1932 in Durant, Okla.; and Fay B. Mosier, whom she married in 1961. She married James T. Randell in 1988 and was a member of Eastside Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, of Big Spring; two daughters, Betty Cain of Big Spring and Shirley Anderson of Mansfield; one son, Larry Bailey of Odessa; one stepdaughter, Gayla Smith of San Angelo; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Alma Nellie Ball

GORDON - Alma Nellie Ball, 87, lifelong local resident, died Wednesday in a Mineral Wells nursing home.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Gordon First Baptist Church with the Rev. Bill Wright officiating. Burial will be in Old Gordon Cemetery, directed by Edwards Funeral Home of Strawn.

Mrs. Ball worked for many years for Cunningham Bar-B Truck stops and Turner's Cafe. She was a member of the Homemaker Bible Class at First Baptist Church and was the widow of Ira E. Ball, whom she married in 1925.

Survivors include one daughter, Ailene Chisholm of Jal, N.M.; three sons, Bill Ball of Jal, N.M., and Jim Ball and Richard Ball, both of Mineral Wells; 13 grandchildren; two step grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 7-9 p.m. today in the funeral home.

Bertha Hicks

ROTAN - Bertha Hicks, 90, died Thursday in a Hamlin nursing home.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Belvieu Cemetery with the Rev. L.D. Parks officiating, directed by Weathersbee Funeral Home.

Mrs. Hicks was born in McCulloch County and was a homemaker. She moved to Rotan in 1949. She was a member of Baycliff Missionary Baptist Church and was the widow of Petter Madden Hicks, whom she married in 1922.

Survivors include three daughters, Millie Keene of Shreveport, La., LueDell Price of Rotan and Rita Smith of Deer Park; three sons, Herman Hicks of Sherman, and Lloyd Hicks and Bill Hicks, both of Rotan; one sister, Ollie Privette of California; 22 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Alice Lawless

EASTLAND - Alice M. Lawless, 79, died Wednesday in a local hospital.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Eastland Cemetery, directed by Bakker Funeral Home.

Ms. Lawless was born in Eastland, and attended school in Eastland and college in Denton. She was a clerk for the Farmer's Home Administration for 32 years and worked mainly in Eastland County. She was a member of Eastland County Bowling Association and First Baptist Church.

Survivors include one daughter, Alene Nelson of Aurora, Colo.; one son, Jim Lawless of Monroe City, Mo.; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one niece and one nephew; and two great-nieces and one great-great-niece.

Earl Abraham Gilbert

MINERAL WELLS - Earl Abraham Gilbert, 96, formerly of Palo Pinto County, died Thursday in a local nursing home.

Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Dobbs Valley Cemetery in Palo Pinto County with the Rev. Myron Crawford officiating, directed by Baum-Carlock-Bumgardner Funeral Home.

Mr. Gilbert was born in Dobbs Valley and worked as an oilfield driller in Palo Pinto County until retiring at age 72. He returned to Mineral Wells in 1986 and was the widower of Lela Velona Black Gilbert, whom he married in 1920 in Clarendon.

Survivors include two sons, R.C. Gilbert of Possum Kingdom Lake and James E. Gilbert of Capitan, N.M.; one daughter, Wanda L. Daley of Grapevine; one sister, Berkie Hightower of Mineral Wells; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Diane Smith

GORMAN - Diane S. Smith, 53, died Wednesday in an Abilene hospital.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Higginbotham Funeral Home Chapel with Dane Gressett and Paul Ransberger officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery with Richard Watson officiating.

Mrs. Smith was born in Gorman and married Johnny Smith in 1979 in Fort Worth. She was a homemaker and was a member of New Hope Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, of Gorman; one son, Jeff Smith of Eastland; five daughters, Kimberly Helvey of Kentucky, JoAnn Caskey of Venus, Julie Lindsey of Granbury, Melissa Sones of Comanche and Mary Myers of Stephenville; one sister, Carolyn Simmons of Fort Worth; and 12 grandchildren.
