Ray Broom

GORMAN - Johnnye Ray Broom, 70, died Monday at his home in Eastland.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Higginbotham Funeral Home Chapel with Dane Gressett officiating, assisted by Craig Rhoton. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery.

Mr. Broom was born in Gorman. He married Juanita Norris in Oklahoma in 1974.

He was retired from the U.S. Navy, having served during World War, Korea and Vietnam. He worked as a fieldman for Southwestern Peanut Growers Association for 25 years. He was a member of VFW of Eastland.

Survivors include his wife, of Eastland; two sons, Jeff Broom of Gorman and John Broom of Carbon; one daughter, Robin Ruiz of Lake Havasu City, Ariz.; one sister, Frankie Eakin of Eastland; three stepchildren, Cathy Yarberry of Richardson, Randall Rogers of Ranger and Jo Jackson of Plains; six grandchildren, six step-grandchildren and one step-great-grandchild.

Guillermo Gonzales

WINTERS - Guillermo Gonzales, 63, of Abilene, died Tuesday in an Abilene hospital.

Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today in Winters Funeral Home Chapel. Graveside services will be at 3:30 p.m. Friday in Lakeview Cemetery with the Rev. Sam Homsey officiating.

Mr. Gonzales was born in Nixon and worked as a laborer. He was a Catholic.

Survivors include three sons, Guillermo Gonzales Jr. and Michael Dan Gonzales, both of Abilene, and Sammy Albert Gonzales of Houston; five daughters, Dora Jiminez, Rachel Ibarra and Nancy Ann Gonzales, all of Houston, and Michelle Villereal and Marie Villereal, both of Abilene; three brothers, Vincent Gonzales of Abilene, and Candido Gonzales and Richard Gonzales, both of Dallas; three sisters, Maria Valdez and Connie Ramirez, both of Dallas, and Tina Brown of Abilene; 18 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Ronnie Lee Dunnam

BROWNWOOD - Ronnie Lee Dunnam, 50, of Fort Worth, died recently in Fort Worth.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Eastlawn Memorial Park, directed by Davis-Morris Funeral Home.

Mr. Dunnam was born in Paris, Texas, and married Susan Brown in 1996 in Abilene. He moved to Fort Worth six months ago from Abilene. He worked as an oil company sales representative and was a Baptist.

Survivors include his wife, of Fort Worth; one son, Brad Lee Dunnam of Odessa; one daughter, Tracee Dawn Machaelis of Odessa; two brothers, Bradley Dunnam of Abilene and Larry Dunnam of Canadian; three sisters, Sammie Plant of San Angelo, Jerry L. Currey of Abilene and Gailyn Albritton of Odessa; one grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.

Erika Lea Sanders

RULE - Erika Lea Sanders, 16, died Monday at her home.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Friday in Rule High School Auditorium with the Revs. J.R. Williams and Carol Crumpton officiating. Burial will be in Rule Cemetery, directed by McCauley-Robison Funeral Directors.

Erika was born in Hale Center and had just completed her sophomore year at Rule High School, where she was a honors student. She participated in University Interscholastic League events, as well as the one-act play, FFA and Future Homemakers of America. She was recently chosen to serve as school mascot. She was active in the Acteens Youth Group and was a member of First Baptist Church.

Survivors include her mother, Sheri J. Sanders of Rule; her adopted father, Jeff Sorrells of Rule; her birth father, Robert Molina of Lockney; one brother, Justin Sanders of Rule; and one niece.

Agnes 'Samma' Bush

RULE - Agnes "Samma" Bush, 60, died Monday at her home.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Friday in Rule High School Auditorium with the Rev. J.R. Williams officiating. Burial will be in Rule Cemetery, directed by McCauley-Robison Funeral Directors.

Ms. Bush was born in Eastland County and was a homemaker. She worked as a healthcare provider and was a Baptist.

Survivors include three daughters, Debra H. Knight of Killeen, Sheri J. Sanders of Rule and Jeanean Walker of Jacksonville, Fla.; one brother, Dural Bush of Rule; one sister, Norma Sherman of Midland; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Pauline Bush

RULE - Pauline Bush, 79, died Monday at her home.

Mrs. Bush was born in Liberty and married Cleo Bush in 1935 in Eastland County. She worked as a nurse and was a homemaker. She was a member of Sweet Home Baptist Church.

Survivors include one son, Dural Bush of Rule; one daughter, Norma Sherman of Midland; three sisters, Meda Dickerson of Athens, Lois McBeth of Andrews and Anna Lou Clements of Oregon; and one brother, Jakie Harris of Plainview.

Cleo Bush

RULE - Cleo Bush, 83, died Monday at his home.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Friday in Rule High School Auditorium with the Rev. J.R. Williams officiating. Burial will be in Rule Cemetery, directed by McCauley-Robison Funeral Directors.

Mr. Bush was born in Eastland County, where he married Pauline Paralee in 1935, and was a retired employee of the Rule Co-Op Gin. He was a farmer and was a member of Sweet Home Baptist Church.

Survivors include one son, Dural Bush of Rule; one daughter, Norma Sherman of Midland; one sister, Earlene Smith of Rule; one brother, J.A. Bush of Plainview; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Albert Allen Brannan

COMANCHE - Albert A. Brannan, 73, of Clifton and formerly of Comanche, died Tuesday in a Clifton hospital.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Hall & Sons Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Jerry Smith and the Rev. Sam Randolph officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.

Mr. Brannan was born in Nolanville and moved to the Comanche area in 1929 from De Leon. He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II and married Julia Belle Seay in 1946 in Brownwood. He co-owned Comanche Wholesale Grocery and was a former Comanche County judge. He worked as the Comanche County chief probation officer for 19 years until retiring in 1994 and moved to Clifton in 1997. He was a charter member of the Comanche Jaycees, and was a former director of the Brazos River and Leon River authorities. He also was a former member of the Comanche Evening Lions Club and Comanche First Baptist Church. He was a member of Clifton First Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, of Clifton; two sons, Robert William "Bob" Brannan of Grand Prairie and Joe Edward Brannan of Bisbee, Ariz.; one brother, Roy W. Brannan Jr. of Comanche; two grandchildren; two step grandchildren; and one step great-grandchild.

Memorials may be sent to a favorite charity.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today in the funeral home.

Lucy Ava Gressett

BROWNWOOD - Lucy Ava Gressett, 91, formerly of Big Spring, died Tuesday in a local nursing home.

Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. today in Trinity Memorial Park in Big Spring with the Rev. Bobby Phillips officiating, directed by Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home of Big Spring.

Mrs. Gressett was born in Clarksville and moved to Big Spring in 1947. She and her husband owned and operated Dave's Laundry in Big Spring for many years. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church and was the widow of David C. Gressett, whom she married in 1921 in Westbrook.

Survivors include one son, Charles E. Gressett of Brownwood; one sister, Ruth DeBerry of Midland; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
