Anna Aachte Hudson

Anna Aachte Hudson, 88, died Wednesday in a local hospital.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Faith, 5701 U.S. Hwy 277 South, with the Rev. James Holman officiating. Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. in Coleman Cemetery.

Mrs. Hudson was born in Cordell, Okla., and graduated from Cordell High School and the University of Oklahoma. She was a homemaker and worked as a substitute school teacher at Novice. She was employed by the Coleman school district for eight years and was a rancher for more than 40 years. She moved to Abilene in 1980 from the Novice area. She was a member of Wylie United Methodist Church and was the widow of Joe Hudson, whom she married in 1938 in Cordell, Okla.

Survivors include one son, Jerry Hudson of Odessa; two daughters, Kay Bunting of Abilene and Jo Ann Hudson of Denver; six grandchildren; and one niece.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today in the funeral home.

Julie Ann Green

LEVELLAND - Julie Ann Green, 40, formerly of Abilene, died Tuesday in a Lubbock hospital after a lengthy illness.

Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in Head Family Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Levelland Cemetery.

Ms. Green was born in Cameron and moved to Abilene at an early age. She graduated from Cooper High School in 1975. She attended Taylor Nursing School in Abilene and worked as a cook. She was a volunteer at West Texas Medical Center before moving to Levelland about six years ago. She was a member of New Light Baptist Church in Abilene.

Survivors include her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Green of Levelland; her grandmother, Thelma Reed of Abilene; three uncles and two aunts; and many other relatives.

Retired Air Force Col. Clayton Jeff 'Red' Johnson

SAN ANGELO - Retired U.S. Air Force Col. Clayton Jeff "Red" Johnson, 76, father of an Abilene resident, died Monday in a local hospital after a long illness.

Services were held Tuesday in Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial with military honors was in Mullins Cemetery.

Mr. Johnson was born near Moody and graduated from San Angelo High School, San Angelo College and Angelo State University. He enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps at the outbreak of World War II and was a B-17 combat pilot for 12 years. He flew 51 bombing missions in the European Theater and later fought in Korea and Vietnam. He received the Legion of Merit, Distinguished Flying Cross, Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal, Air Medal with nine oak leaf clusters and Air Force Commendation Medal with one oak leaf cluster. He worked in military transportation for 20 years and was commander of the Military Airlift Command at Travis Air Force Base in California for three years until retiring. He married Linda Waldinger in 1981 in Ruidoso, N.M.

Survivors include his wife, of San Angelo; five daughters, Linda Dressen of Abilene, Carol Eleyet Chase of San Diego, Peggy Robinson of Grapevine, Lorrie Taylor of Sutter, Calif., and Gretchen Staha of San Angelo; one son, Leo Waldinger of Godley; one brother, Cecil Johnson of San Angelo; one sister, Clydia Prosise of San Angelo; eight grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Edgar 'Ed' Sorrell

STAMFORD - Edgar "Ed" Sorrell, 92, of Seguin and formerly of Stamford, died Wednesday in a Seguin hospital.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Kinney Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. John Erwin officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Tuxedo.

Mr. Sorrell was born in New Hope and was a longtime Stamford resident. He worked at an auto supply store and service station for many years before retiring. He then helped organize Stamford's VIP Center and worked with it until ill health forced him to quit. He was a former member of the Rotary and Lions clubs, and Old Timers Association of the Texas Cowboy Reunion. He was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church in Stamford and was the widower of Effie Ann Parsons Sorrell, whom he married in 1924 in Funston.

Survivors include one son, Charles Henry Sorrell of Seguin; two sisters, Essie Mae Ellis of Brady and Ora McKinnon of Porterville, Calif.; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Virginia Adele Williams

MUNDAY - Virginia Adele Williams, 89, formerly of Spur, died Wednesday in a local nursing home.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Spur First Baptist Church with the Rev. John Hall officiating. Burial will be in Spur Memorial Cemetery, directed by McCauley-Smith Funeral Home.

Mrs. Williams was born in Spur and taught school in Spur and Girard for 30 years. She moved to Munday in 1986 from Spur and wrote a weekly column for the Munday Courier about happenings at the Munday Nursing Home for eight years. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, Retired Teachers Association, and First Baptist churches in Spur and Munday. She was the widow of Louis G. Williams, whom she married in 1943 in Colorado Springs, Colo.

Survivors include one son, Bill Williams of Munday; one daughter, Beth Williams of Medford, Ore.; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

The body will be at the church beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday.

Fred Fermin Bastardo Jr.

BROWNWOOD - Fred Fermin Bastardo Jr., 52, lifelong local resident, died Tuesday in an Abilene hospital.

Mass will be said at 10 a.m. today in St. Mary's Catholic Church with Msgr. Benedick Zientek officiating. Burial will be in Greenleaf Cemetery, directed by Davis-Morris Funeral Home.

Mr. Bastardo was born in Brownwood and married Carmen Castillo in 1967 in Brownsville. He worked for the Santa Fe Railroad since 1974 and was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.

Survivors include his wife, of Brownwood; one son, Fred Bastardo III of Brownwood; three daughters, Frances Sauceda, Angie Rosalez and Bonnie Bastardo Valencia, all of Brownwood; his mother, Frances Bastardo of Brownwood; five brothers, Rudy Bastardo, Pete Bastardo, Victor Bastardo, Earnest Bastardo and Gus Bastardo, all of Brownwood; three sisters, Lola Torres and Josie Graves, both of Wichita Falls, and Viola Marquez of Brownsville; six grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Maurine Edna Iglehart

COLORADO CITY - Maurine Edna Iglehart, 90, lifelong Mitchell County resident, died Thursday in an Abilene hospital.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Calvary Baptist Church with the Revs. Sammy Elliott and Travis Monday officiating. Burial will be in Dorn Cemetery, directed by Kiker-Seale Funeral Home.

Mrs. Iglehart was born in Mitchell County. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and was the widow of Charlie A. Iglehart, whom she married in 1925 in Howard County.

Survivors include one daughter, Jessie Dorn of Colorado City; one sister, Lottie Iglehart of Colorado City; eight grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

Marell King

BALLINGER - Marell W. King, 70, died Wednesday at his home.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Rains-Seale Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. George Frasier and Marvin West officiating. Burial will be in Old Runnels Cemetery.

Mr. King was born in Blanton and served with the U.S. Navy during World War II. He married Lurene Turner in 1952 in Ballinger and worked in the oil field for Frank Caraway Drilling and Carl Hoblezel Drilling. He was employed by Bob Lloyd LP Gas in Ballinger for 17 years until retiring in 1990 and was a member of First Church of the Nazarene.

Survivors include his wife, of Ballinger; four sons, Ronnie King, Windell King, Robert King and Ricky King, all of Ballinger; one daughter, Karen Hogue of Ballinger; his mother, Lizzie Wade King of Ballinger; three brothers, Lloyd King of Ballinger, and Wayne King and Bill King, both of San Angelo; 15 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Retired Army Sgt. Maj. Louis Ray Cervantes

Retired U.S. Army Sgt. Maj. Louis Ray Cervantes, 56, died Thursday in a local hospital.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 542 Hickory, with the Rev. Ava Berry officiating. Burial will be in Hawley Cemetery.

Mr. Cervantes was born in Riverside, Calif., and was a Green Beret. He served in Vietnam and Panama with Special Services, and moved to Abilene in 1983 from Fort Benton, Ga. He retired as a sergeant major after a 29-year career with the U.S. Army and worked with the ROTC program at Hardin-Simmons University. He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and also was a member of the Elks Lodge. He was a Catholic.

Survivors include a longtime companion, Judy Griffin; two sons, Angel Louis Cervantes of Mesa, Ariz., and David Cervantes of Minnesota; his parents, Baulio Joe Cervantes and Mary Gonzales, both of California; two brothers, Roger Cervantes of Biloxi, Miss., and Rudolph Cervantes of California; and two grandchildren.

The Rev. John Waldren

The Rev. John W. Waldren, 74, of Brownfield and formerly of Abilene, died Tuesday in a Lubbock hospital.

Services were held Friday in First Foursquare Church in Brownfield with the Rev. Eugene Staton officiating. Graveside services will be at 11:30 a.m. today in Buffalo Gap Cemetery, directed by Head Family Funeral Home of Brownfield.

Rev. Waldren was born in Cushing, Okla., and served with the U.S. Army during World War II. He married his wife in 1948 in California and worked as a carpenter. He was a retired minister, having lived and ministered in Abilene for 35 years before moving to Brownfield in 1985. He was a member of American Legion Post 269 and First Foursquare Church in Brownfield.

Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Waldren of Brownfield; one son, Raymond Waldren of Plano; and two grandchildren.

Diana Lee Frizzell

SWEETWATER - Diana Lee Frizzell, 28, died Thursday in an Abilene hospital.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in McCoy Funeral Home Chapel of Memories with the Rev. Jay Simpson officiating. Burial will be in Sweetwater Cemetery.

Mrs. Frizzell was born in Sweetwater, where she married Jerry Frizzell Jr. in 1987. She was a homemaker and was a member of Highland Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, of Sweetwater; two daughters, Jordee Frizzell and Halee Frizzell, both of Sweetwater; her mother and stepfather, Patsy and Johnny Maki of Sweetwater; her father and stepmother, Preston and Laverne Alston of Sweetwater; three sisters, Debbie Doty, Dana Martin and Denni Alston, all of Abilene; her grandfather, Virgil Heath of Sweetwater; and her great-grandmother, Cora Mott of Tyronza, Ark.
