Paul Woodie Branham

WINTERS - Paul Woodie Branham, 57, of San Angelo died Sunday at a San Angelo hospital.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Winters Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Doyle Pruitt officiating. Burial will be in Bradshaw Cemetery.

Mr. Branham was born in Rockhouse, Ky., and came to Texas as a young man. He was a 20-year Army veteran, including service in the Vietnam War. He was a security guard for TSSI and was a Baptist. He married Shirley Jo Lusk in 1961 in Gatesville; she preceded him in death.

Survivors include his mother, Opal Mayhew of Christianburg, Va.; three sons, Paul Branham of Norfolk, Va., Perry Branham of Haysville, Kan., and Robert Branham of Midland; two sisters, Billie Fort of Abilene and Sarah Haby of San Angelo; 15 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Arthur Otto Brink

COLEMAN - Services for Arthur Otto Brink, 78, former city council member and mayor, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Reed Justus officiating, assisted by the Rev. Lloyd Hagemeier. Services will be directed by Stevens Funeral Home.

Mr. Brink was born in Waco and grew up there and in Eastland County and the Burkett community in Coleman County. He attended Tarleton Junior College and was an Army veteran of World War II. He started a dental practice in Coleman in 1951; after retiring, he served in Colorado City for 1-1/2 years. He was elected to the City Council in 1962. He served on the hospital board of trustees and as commissioner of the Coleman Housing Authority, which he served from 1969-1997. He served on several committees and as chairman of the Administrative Board of First United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Myrna Brink of Coleman; one son, John Arthur Brink of Allen; two stepdaughters, Fredda White of Reno, Nev., and Tonna DeMaet of Santa Fe, Tex.; two sisters, Nola (Mrs. Jack) Everett of Huntsville and Jana Thomas of Pasadena; two brothers, Eddie Brink of Austin and John Brink of Pasadena; four grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society; or to the Coleman Public Library, 400 Commercial Ave., Coleman 76834.

The family will be at the funeral home from 5-7 p.m. today.

Bertie Zora Coplen

ROSCOE - Bertie Zora Coplen, 77, died Sunday at a Sweetwater hospital.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at McCoy Funeral Home Chapel of Memories in Sweetwater with the Rev. Rick Willis officiating. Burial will be in Roscoe Cemetery, directed by McCoy Funeral Home of Roscoe.

Mrs. Coplen was born in Mansfield and lived in Roscoe most of her life. She was a retired nurse's aide and worked at Roscoe Nursing Center in the 1960s. She was a member, and for many years a nursery worker, of First Baptist Church and a past member of Friendship Club. She married Don McFaul in 1937 in Sweetwater. She married Clyde Coplen in 1970 in Aspermont. They preceded her in death.

Survivors include one son, Donald McFaul of Cedar Hill; four daughters, Bessie McFaul of Sweetwater, Sharon Henley of Priddy and Vidella Kingston and Ramona McFaul, both of Roscoe; a stepson, Earl Ray Coplen of Aspermont; 23 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

James 'Jerry' Jones

BROWNWOOD - James G. "Jerry" Jones, 66, of Lake Proctor died Saturday at a Lubbock hospital.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at First Christian Church with the Rev. Jim Smith officiating. Burial will be in Pecan Wells Cemetery near Goldthwaite, directed by Davis-Morris Funeral Home.

Mr. Jones was born in Wichita Falls and moved to Lake Proctor during the past year after living in Llano. He was an Army veteran and a retired minister of the Disciples of Christ Christian Church. He was a member of First Christian Church of Brownwood. He married Myrtle Jones in San Angelo.

Survivors include his wife of Lake Proctor; three daughters, LaDell Garrett of McCamey, Sherry Maulden of Wichita Falls and Yvonne Petross of Lamesa; one sister, Billye Leuthold of Reno, Nev.; one brother, Richard Jones; and seven grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Scholarship Fund at First Christian Church in Llano; or to the donor's favorite scholarship fund.

Ronnie Doyle Boles

PHENIX CITY, Ala. - Ronnie Doyle Boles, 57, died Friday at a local hospital.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. today in Lakeview Memory Gardens, directed by Striffler-Hamby Mortuary.

Mr. Boles was born in Eastland and had lived in Seale, Ala., for 19 years. He was employed by the federal government as an international pistol coach. He was a member of Fort Benning Rifle and Pistol Club and M.B.A.A.

Survivors include his wife, Siegrid Boles of Seale; two sons, Yogi Boles and Rodney Doak Boles, both of Seale; one brother, Dwaine Boles of Seale; two sisters, Beverly Archer of Stephenville and Renee Boles of Breckenridge; one grandson, one niece and one nephew.

.C. 'Preacher' Brooks

ROARING SPRINGS - C.C. "Preacher" Brooks, 79, died Saturday at a Lubbock hospital after a lengthy illness.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Roaring Springs Baptist Church with the Revs. Bruce Stovall and Keith Brooks officiating. Burial will be in Brooks Family Cemetery, directed by Seigler Funeral Home of Matador.

Mr. Brooks was born in Dickens County and lived in Meadow from 1945-1983. He farmed and operated Meadow Oil Co. and Meadow Implement Company. He moved to Roaring Springs in 1983 and was involved in ranching and farming. He was a Baptist. He married LaRue Warren in 1938 in Roaring Springs.

Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Shirley Watson of Ralls; one brother, Milton Brooks of Roaring Springs; seven sisters, Delores Smallwood and Earle Price, both of Lubbock, Patricia Edwards, Geraldine Skaggs and Genelle Carpenter, all of Palo Pinto Lake, Mary Ann Avara of Denver City and Ruby Whitaker of Brownfield; seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Benlellen Cathey

THROCKMORTON - Benlellen Cathey, 83, died Sunday at a local hospital.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Merriman-Archer Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Duane Johnson and Gaston Cogdell officiating. Burial will be in Throckmorton Cemetery.

Mrs. Cathey was born in Throckmorton, where she graduated from high school in 1933. She attended business college in Fort Worth and was a secretary for the Texas House of Representatives for 18 years. She returned to Throckmorton in 1945 and served with American Womans Volunteer Association during World War II. She was a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include two sisters, Ogle Daws of Throckmorton and Jenelle Cogdell of Edgewood, Ky.; several nieces and one nephew.

Dyllon James Horton

BROWNWOOD - Dyllon James Horton, infant, died Saturday in Fort Worth.

Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday in Eastlawn Memorial Park with the Rev. Mark Bryant officiating, directed by Heartland Funeral Home.

Dyllon was born Nov. 21, 1997, in Fort Worth.

Survivors include his parents, Shane and Rebecca Horton of Early; one sister, Aubrey Cheyenne Horton of Early; grandparents James and Deborah Morris of Post and Patty and James Harris Jr. of Early; and great-grandparents Weldon and Betty Horton of Lake Brownwood, Harlan and Imogene Morris of Post, Luther and Bobby Jernigan of Cisco and Mrs. Jimmie Murphy of Early.

Lucy Elka Singleton Fulbright

RULE - Lucy Elka Singleton Fulbright, 92, died Sunday at a Haskell care home.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Rule Church of Christ with John Greeson and Travis Boyd officiating. Burial will be in Rule Cemetery, directed by McCauley-Robison Funeral Home.

Mrs. Fulbright was born in Oklahoma and had lived in Haskell County for more than 75 years. She was a homemaker and a member of Rule Church of Christ. She married Lowell Marvin Fulbright in 1921 in Haskell; he preceded her in death.

Survivors include one daughter, Polly Cox of Rule; two brothers, Charlie Singleton of Sundown and A.D. Singleton of Seagoville; nine grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and two great-great-granddaughters.

Marilyn (Mrs. Hugh) Green

ALBANY - Marilyn (Mrs. Hugh) Green, 56, died Saturday at an Abilene hospital.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church with the Revs. Don Clevenger and John Tunnell officiating. Burial will be in Albany Cemetery, directed by Godfrey-Neese Funeral Home.

Mrs. Green was born in Breckenridge and was a longtime employee of H.R. Stasney and Sons, Ltd. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi, Albany Chapter Xi Chi Pi, and Assembly of God Church. She married Hugh Green in 1959 in Albany.

Survivors include her husband, of Albany; one son, Mike Green of Albany; one daughter, Pam Green of Arlington; two brothers, J.B. Lyons of Greenville and Marvin Jameson of Missouri; and three grandchildren.
