Lillian Neatherlin

AVOCA -- Lillian M. Neatherlin, 70, died Wednesday in a Stamford hospital.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Avoca Baptist Church with the Rev. Joel Rister officiating. Burial will be in Spring Creek Cemetery, directed by Tankersley Funeral Home of Stamford.

Mrs. Neatherlin was born in Campwood and was a homemaker. She was a Baptist and was the widow of Elmer Neatherlin, whom she married in 1949 in Uvalde.

Survivors include one son, Earl Neatherlin of Avoca; one sister, Irene Connell of Sabinal; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Howard Lee DeShazo Sr.

Howard Lee DeShazo Sr., 91, died Tuesday in a local hospital.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 542 Hickory, with the Rev. Wayne Oglesby officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park.

Mr. DeShazo was born in Nolan County and attended school in Crow's Nest near San Angelo. He worked in the parts and sales departments of Diamond Industrial Supply in Plainview for 25 years until retiring. He farmed in Taylor County and moved to Abilene in 1982 from Santa Fe, N.M. He was a school trustee at Wylie when consolidation began in the 1930s. He was active with the Rose Park Senior Citizens group and was a rural church songleader for 30 years. He was ordained a deacon in 1940 at the Neal church, now Wylie Baptist Church, and was a member, at the time of his death, of Calvary Baptist Church. He was the widower of Ollene Clark DeShazo, whom he married in 1924 in Abilene.

Survivors include one son, H.L. DeShazo Jr. of Santa Fe, N.M.; one brother, Daniel W. DeShazo of Boise, Idaho; four sisters, Lassie Anderson of Baytown, Era Vinger of Harlingen, Ina Mae Collins of Concan and Ruth Gray of Mission; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be sent to West Texas Rehabilitation Center, 4601 Hartford, Abilene 79605.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. today in the funeral home.

Beatrice McDow

Beatrice F. McDow, 54, of San Angelo and formerly of Abilene, died Wednesday in a local hospital.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Holiday Hills Baptist Church with the Rev. Durward Minor officiating. Burial will be in Masonic Cemetery, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.

Ms. McDow was born in Loraine and graduated from Woodson High School in Abilene. She moved to San Angelo in 1996 from Abilene and worked as a private sitter. She was a Baptist.

Survivors include three sons, James McDow and George McDow, both of Abilene, and Brian McDow of Fort Worth; two daughters, Rita McDow of Abilene and Thelma McDow of San Angelo; her mother, Lillian Williams of Abilene; three brothers, Jesse Williams, Bill Williams and Don Williams, all of Abilene; four sisters, Ida Ruth Bell of Cleveland, Lillian Tate of Baltimore, and Thelma Webber and Carla El'Amin, both of Abilene; four grandchildren; and many other relatives.

Ralph Vinson Baumgardner

Ralph Vinson Baumgardner, 78, owner and operator of Abilene Safe & Lock Co. for 30 years, died Wednesday at his home.

Services will be at 4 p.m. Saturday in Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 542 Hickory, with Chaplain James O. Teel Jr. officiating. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Resthaven Memorial Park in Jacksonville, Texas, with the Rev. Peggy Edge officiating.

Mr. Baumgardner was born in Craft, where he attended school, and married Virginia Walker in 1939 in Palestine. He served with the U.S. Army Amphibian Corps during World War II and moved to Abilene in 1948 from Jacksonville. He was a member of the Disciples of Christ.

Survivors include his wife, of Abilene; two sons, Vince Tipton Baumgardner of Artesia, N.M., and Thomas G. Baumgardner of Houston; one daughter, Lana Carol Darrin of Dayton, Ohio; two brothers, Thomas Baumgardner of Fort Worth and Roy Baumgardner of Jacksonville; one sister, Hazel Morton of Jacksonville; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

The Rev. Francis Benton

KERRVILLE -- The Rev. Francis B. Benton, 82, formerly of Abilene, died Wednesday in a local care facility.

A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in Ingram First Presbyterian Church with Dr. Otis Moore officiating. Burial will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery, directed by Kerrville Funeral Home.

The Rev. Benton was born in Bessamer, Ala., and graduated from Bessamer High School, Southwestern University in Memphis, Tenn., and Columbia Theological Seminary in Decatur, Ga. He entered the Presbyterian ministry in 1941 and pastored churches in Tennessee, North Carolina and Georgia. He was at Oakhurst Presbyterian Church in Decatur, Ga., for nine years before moving to Abilene in 1956 to accept the pastorate of First Presbyterian Church. He resigned in 1967 to become the new pastor of St. John's Presbyterian Church in Dallas. He retired from the ministry in 1972 and then moved to Kerrville. He married Mildred "Billy" Thomas in 1944 in Charlotte, N.C. He was a former directorof the Abilene YMCA, a former member of the Abilene Founder Lions Club, and also was an avid booster of both football programs at Abilene and Cooper High schools. He was a member of the Kerrville Kiwanis Club and Ingram First Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include his wife, of Kerrville; two daughters, Elizabeth Lanz of Richardson and Margaret Buchanan of Temple; one son, Francis B. "Buck" Benton Jr. of San Antonio and six grandchildren.

Patricia Wright

BIG SPRING -- Patricia Wright, 65, died Thursday in a local care facility.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in St. Mary's Episcopal Church with the Rev. James E. Liggett officiating. Graveside services will be at 3:30 p.m. in Elmwood Memorial Park in Abilene, directed by Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home.

Mrs. Wright was born in Denton and grew up in Wills Point. She worked as an interior decorator for many years. She lived in Abilene, El Paso and Houston before moving to Big Spring in 1997. She was a member of Order of the Eastern Star and Heavenly Rest Episcopal Church in Abilene and was the widow of Clyde Leonard Wright, whom she married in 1950 in Wills Point.

Survivors include two daughters, Katanna Zachry of Garden City and Kimberli Ulmer of Abilene and eight grandchildren.

Glen Berry

COLEMAN -- Glen Berry, 81, auto mechanic at Berry Ford for many years, died Wednesday at his home.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Coleman Cemetery with James Bailey officiating, directed by Stevens Funeral Home.

Mr. Berry was born in Bell County and attended school in Santa Anna. He married Daphnea Croft in 1935 in Coleman. He moved to Coleman in 1941 from Santa Anna and attended the Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife, of Coleman; one daughter, Barbara Dawson of Coleman; one son, Billy Glen Berry of Odessa; one brother, John Berry of Abilene; one sister, Mary Ann Wade of Coleman; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Clyde Nunn

BUSBY -- Clyde Nunn, 90, lifelong Fisher County resident, died Wednesday at his home.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today in McCoy Funeral Home Chapel of Memories in Sweetwater with Joe Bagby and the Rev. Orvel Brantley officiating. Burial will be in Garden of Memories in Sweetwater.

Mr. Nunn was born in Sweetwater, where he married Josie Moody in 1933, and was a farmer and rancher. He operated a dairy from 1945 to 1964 and was a member of Fourth and Elm Street Church of Christ in Sweetwater.

Survivors include his wife, of Busby; one daughter, Juanita Holley of Fort Worth; one sister, Mary Allen of Rotan; one grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

Melvin Curtis 'Buddy' Blair

COLORADO CITY -- Melvin Curtis "Buddy" Blair, 85, lifelong Mitchell County resident, died Thursday in a local hospital.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Kiker-Seale Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jody Sanders officiating. Burial will be in Loraine Cemetery.

Mr. Blair was born in Mitchell County and was the widower of Lucille Blair. He married Mollie Bowden in 1980 in Colorado City and was a retired cotton farmer. He was a member of Loraine Methodist Church and attended Oak Street Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, of Colorado City; two daughters, Dorithy Lou Narrell of Flower Mound and Peggy Wright of Clyde; one brother, Dual Blair of Colorado City; two sisters, Oleta Glass of Slaton and Ouida Willmon of Monahans; nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
