Vinita Hamilton

Vinita Hamilton, 74, died Monday at a local nursing home.

Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. today in Resthaven Cemetery in Lubbock, directed by Girdner Funeral Home, 111 Elm.

She grew up and attended school in Tahoka. She was a homemaker and a Methodist.

Survivors include one son, Rex M. Hamilton of Abilene, and three grandchildren.

Arlis Wilson

Arlis R. Wilson, 97, of Midland died Friday in Midland.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at North’s Funeral Home Memorial Chapel, 242 Orange, with the Rev. Sue Rowlett officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park.

Mrs. Wilson was born and grew up in Jayton and also lived west of Cross Plains in Callahan County, Tahlequa, Okla., and Snyder, moving to Midland in 1983. She was a Baptist. She married Olan Freeman Wilson in 1923 in Jayton; he preceded her in death.

Survivors include one son, Jim W. Wilson of Houston; one brother, J.M. Johnston Jr. of Colorado Springs, Colo.; one sister, Ava Dee Dye of Amarillo; three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Willie Carl Raphelt

Willie Carl Raphelt, 75, died Sunday at a local hospital.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Zion Lutheran Church with David Bahn and Norm Steinke officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.

Mr. Raphelt was born in Sagerton and graduated from Stamford High School. He graduated from North Texas State College in 1952 with a bachelor’s degree and taught for 28 years in several school districts, including Seymour and Sonora, from which he retired. He moved to Abilene from Sonora in 1987. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and Wagon Wheel Square Dance Club. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He married Verna Corrine Krinke in 1949 in Sagerton; she preceded him in death.

Survivors include two sons, Nolan Keith Raphelt of Vicksburg, Miss., and Garland Lynn Raphelt of Arlington; his stepmother, Emma Raphelt of Stamford; three brothers, Herman Raphelt of Lubbock, Melvin Baitz of Rule and Leslie Baitz of Austin; four sisters, Lillie Mae Reed of Roby, Dorothy (Mrs. Joe) Clark of Rule, Lillian Mae (Mrs. Leon) Stegemoeller of Sagerton and Ruby (Mrs. George) Olson of San Angelo; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 41, Abilene 79604.

The family will be at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. today.

Orvalle Glen ‘O.G.’ Lenhardt

Orvalle Glen "O.G." Lenhardt, 77, of Abilene died Sunday at his home.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Woodlawn Church of Christ with Claud Parrish officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.

Mr. Lenhardt was born and attended school in Trenton, Mo., and moved to Abilene from Eastland in 1955. He worked for Springer Drilling for 10 years and retired after working for G.C.O. Drilling Co. for 10 years. He had worked as a greeter for 11 years at the Judge Ely Wal-Mart. He was a member of Woodlawn Church of Christ and a Navy veteran of World War II. He married Dorothy Burleson in 1965 in Abilene; she preceded him in death.

Survivors include six daughters, Pauline Cantwell of Old Greenwich, Conn., Darlene Higgs and Sandy East, both of Austin, Glenda Bibb of San Antonio, Susan Hill of Irving and Maysel Arrowood of Abilene; four stepdaughters, Jane Dunn of Abilene, Sue Rapp and Margaret Wilson, both of Fort Worth, and Judy Turner of Fort Collins, Colo.; two brothers, David Lenhardt of Kansas City, Mo., and Edsel Thomas of Rogers, Ark.; one sister, Maysel Lucille Smith of Hughesville, Mo.; 33 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Woodlawn Church of Christ, 3185 N. 10th, Abilene 79603; West Texas Rehabilitation Center, 4601 Hartford, Abilene 79605; or to the donor’s favorite charity.

The family will be at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. today.

John Loyola

SNYDER -- John B. Loyola, 63, died Saturday at a Lubbock hospital after a brief illness.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Danny Williams officiating. Burial will be in Snyder Cemetery.

Mr. Loyola was born in Snyder and was a deliveryman for Roe’s Furniture for nearly 23 years. He married Jean Hunt in 1957 in Snyder.

Survivors include his wife, of Snyder; three daughters, Linda Key and Lisa Tate, both of Snyder, and Debbie David of Abilene; one son, Tracy Loyola of Snyder; two sisters, Mary Orosco of San Angelo and Amelia Garza of Austin; four brothers, Vincent Loyola of Albuquerque, N.M., Tony Peralez and Freddie Peralez, both of Snyder, and Charlie Loyola; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Bobby Lee Driskill

RANGER -- Bobby Lee Driskill, 59, of Abilene died Saturday at an Abilene hospital.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Eastside Baptist Church with the Rev. Jerry Speer and Larry Linham officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, directed by Edwards Funeral Home.

Mr. Driskill was born in May and lived in Brown, Comanche, Erath and Nolan counties. He graduated from Highland High School and worked for Dow Chemical in McCamey. He moved to Ranger in 1963 and worked for CJB Cattle Co. and as ranch foreman for Hagaman Ranch. He worked for Slumber J and sold cars in Big Spring and Abilene in the late 1960s and early ‘70s. He also worked for T&P Railroad and Missouri and Pacific Railroad. He farmed and ranched in the Ranger area and opened Bob’s K&M Service Station and Tire Service and Ranger Hill Pit Stop and Restaurant, which he operated until retiring in 1993. He moved to San Angelo in 1993 and to Abilene in 1998. He was a Baptist. He married Roxie Jane Kidd in 1959. He married Donna Ainsworth in 1970.

Survivors include his wife, Donna, of Abilene; two daughters, Lee Ann Terry and Teresa Carol Breedlove, both of Kingwood; two sons, Brandon Lee Driskill of Stephenville and Wade Barret Driskill of El Paso; two brothers, Jolly Driskill of Tuscola and Modie Driskill of Eden; four sisters, June Stanford of San Angelo, Jeannie Driskill of Lewisville, Wanda Fullwood of Lubbock and Mary Lou Sponable of Brazoria; and nine grandchildren.

Claudine ‘Dean’ Hudspeth

BROWNWOOD -- Claudine "Dean" Hudspeth, 69, died Sunday at a local hospital.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Heartland Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Ruben Packer and Art Allen officiating. Burial will be in Clear Creek Cemetery.

Mrs. Hudspeth was born in Donley County and moved to Brown County from Dalhart in 1963. She was a homemaker and a member of Victory Baptist Church. She married Rayford "Ray" Hudspeth in 1946 in Morton.

Survivors include her husband, of Brownwood; four sons, Randy Hudspeth of Goldthwaite, Tommy Hudspeth of Abilene, Rex Hudspeth of Brownwood and Woody Hudspeth of Blanket; two brothers, Al Miller of Hawley and Tommy Miller of Monahans; four sisters, Rosie McFarland of Hawley, Ann Gray of McCamey, Ruth Swanner of Crane and Myrtle Schoolcraft of Wickett; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, 3301 West Freeway, Fort Worth 76107-5709.

Tristan Mealer

RICHARDSON -- Tristan Mealer, 20, died Saturday.

Services will be at 4 p.m. today at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home Chapel in McKinney with the Rev. Danny Buster officiating.

Mr. Mealer was born in Amarillo.

Survivors include his mother, Pam Mealer of Richardson; his father, Mace Mealer of Valparaiso, Fla.; one brother, Damian Mealer of Abilene; one sister, Anissa Camp of Tampa, Fla.; grandparents Tiney Richards of Burkburnett, Claudi Ingram of Big Spring and Bill Mealer of Abilene; and one nephew.

Lois Elsie Crowe

WINTERS -- Lois Elsie Crowe, 86, of Abilene died Sunday at an Abilene nursing home.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Main Street Church of Christ with Darrin Koone officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery, directed by Winters Funeral Home.

Mrs. Crowe was born in Winters and moved to Abilene in 1963. She retired from Abilene State School in 1981. She was a member of the Church of Christ. She married Kavanaugh Crowe in 1933 in Winters; he preceded her in death.

Survivors include three sons, Kenneth Crowe of the Bahamas and Larry Crowe and Wesley Crowe, both of Abilene; three daughters, Kavanell McKee and Jeanette David, both of Abilene, and Dorie Koone of Creed, Colo.; two sisters, Lola White of Phoenix, Ariz., and Clara Moore of Knippa; 19 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren.

D.C. Rister Jr.

HAWLEY -- D.C. Rister Jr., 77, died Sunday at an Abilene hospital.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at First Baptist Church with the Revs. Lewis Ellis and Don Myers officiating. Burial will be in Hawley Cemetery, directed by Lawrence-Adams Funeral Home of Anson.

Mr. Rister was born in Sylvester and moved to Hawley as a child. He graduated from Hawley High School in 1939 and attended Draughan’s Business College in Abilene. He was a Naval Air Corps and Marine Air Corps veteran of World War II. He worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 28 -1/2 years, retiring as postmaster at Hawley in 1986. He was a former member of Hawley Lions Club and a member of First Baptist Church. He married Annie Fay Davis in 1945 in Abilene.

Survivors include his wife, of Hawley; four daughters, Cheryl Chapman of Hamby, Londa Leverton of Ovalo, Jajuan Wilson of Cleburne and Lawynn Beasley of Hamby; two sisters, Rebecca Morrow of Abilene and Thoma Mauldin of Lovington, N.M.; 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
