ANDERSON This is a very small cemetery located in a pasture owned by Mrs. Ether Smith, north of Thornton on Thornton-Groesbeck (old road). Inquire at house of Mrs. Smith, just outside of the city limits. Cemetery is unfenced and in poor condition. Many of the stones are broken and misplaced. Brown served as a Captain in the Confederate States Army and was a member of the Texas House of Representatives in 1879-1880. J.P. Brown's brother, Thomas Jefferson Brown was Chief Justice of the Texas Court from 1911 to 1915. He served in the 21st Texas Legislature during the regular session January 8 to April 6, 1889 and the 22nd session January 3 to April 13, 1891 and the called session March 14 to April 12, 1892. J. Brig., C.S.A. There had been many more graves in this cemetery and the markers were moved during the Mexia oil boom.
