Tecklea Kopycinski
June 23, 1922 - October 17, 2007
Tecklea Kopycinski, born June 23, 1922 in Chappell Hill, Texas, the daughter of Mike and Hedwig Majewski Brzymialkiewicz, passed away Wednesday, October 17, 2007 in Bellville, Texas.
She is survived by: her sons, John Kopycinski and wife Carolyn, Mike Kopycinski and wife Emily; daughter Joanna K. Zimmerman all of Chappell Hill; grandchildren, Mark Kopycinski of Chappell Hill, Blake and Jennifer Zimmerman, Angela and Dave Dreiling, Christi and Matt Strock all of Houston, Heidi and Gary Wilson of Dallas, Chris and Tiffany Thompson of Brenham; great-grandchildren, Dawson Dreiling, Tanner Dreiling, Skyler Dreiling, Hannah Dreiling, John Strock, Robert Strock, Taite Thompson, Thayley Thompson, Ella Zimmerman; sister, Frances Bugaj and husband Steve of Houston.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Billie, sister Eva and brother Paul.
She was baptized in the Catholic Church, and was long time member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church of Chappell Hill. She was also a member of the Altar Rosary Society. She married Billie Anthony Kopycinski on June 30, 1941 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Hempstead. Mrs. Kopycinski lived in Chappell Hill and was a local business owner for many years.
A Rosary will be held Friday evening, October 19, 2007 at 7 p.m. at Brenham Memorial Chapel.
Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, October 20, 2007 at 10 a.m. at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Chappell Hill with Father Vincent Chacko officiating. Interment will follow at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Mark Kopycinski, Blake Zimmerman, Dave Dreiling, Matt Strock, Chris Thompson and Timmy Murski. Honorary pallbearers are Ike Brzymialkiewicz and John Gunn.
Services are in the care of Brenham Memorial Chapel, 2300 Stringer St., Brenham. 979- 836-3611

Dr. Herbert H. Lang
August 16, 1921 - January 5, 2006
Herbert Howard Lang, 84 of Beaumont died Thursday, January 5, 2006 in Beaumont, Texas, after watching his beloved Texas Longhorns win the National Championship. Visitation will be Saturday, January 7, 2006 from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Brenham Memorial Chapel. Graveside services will be conducted by Rev. Cecilia Smith at Prairie Lea Cemetery in Brenham on Sunday, January 8, 2006 at 1:00 p.m.
Dr. Lang was born on August 16, 1921 in New York City, the son of Edward and Estelle Lang. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, where he met his wife, Elizabeth Brian Lang. Following the war, Dr. Lang moved to Texas and received his BA, MA, and PhD from the University of Texas. He taught briefly at the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology in Socorro, New Mexico before joining the faculty in the History Department at Texas A&M; University in 1956. In 1965 he became a Full Professor, and in 1970, the Association of Former Students gave him an Achievement Award. At the ceremony, he said, “To me, Liberal Arts implies liberating arts-liberating man from the tyranny of outmoded man-made habits, assumptions, and institutions, which hem him in, make him unfree, and restrict the development of his highest potential.” In 1979 he was the editor and wrote the introduction to Pat Nixon of Texas: Autobiography of a Doctor, which was published by the Texas A&M; Press. When he retired in 1984, he was named a Professor Emeritus. In 1992 he was recognized as one of the pioneers of the Honors Program at A&M.;
He was preceded in death by Brian, his wife of 58 years; his parents; and a sister, Laura Kelly. He is survived by a daughter, Emily Rhine, and a grandson, Eric Rhine.

Charles Kramer
Born in Prairie Hill Community, Washington County, TX on May 5, 1927
Departed on Aug. 21, 2005 and resided in Brenham, TX.

Charles Kramer, 78, of Brenham, died Sunday, August 21, 2005, at his residence.
Mr. Kramer was born May 5, 1927, in the Prairie Hill community of Washington County, Texas, to Fritz and Lena Ellermann Kramer. He was baptized and confirmed in St. John Lutheran Church of Prairie Hill and attended Prairie Hill School.
On Jan. 14, 1955, he was married to Mae Lorene Martin in Houston.
He was a retired job superintendent for Johns Manville Sales and was a former justice of the peace for Washington County Precinct 3. Mr. Kramer was a member of St. John Lutheran Church of Prairie Hill, where he sang in the choir. He was a member of the Park Place Masonic Lodge #1172 AF & AM and Scottish Rite of Galveston. He was also a member of the Gay Hill-Mound Hill-Cedar Hill Fire Department.
Survivors include his wife, Mae Lorene Kramer of Brenham; daughter, Cheryl Ann Kramer of Houston; brothers, Edgar Kramer of Brenham, Alfred Kramer of New Braunfels and Robert Kramer of Friendswood; and sisters, Mildred Richter of Brenham, Verda Rogge of Friendswood, Edna Lehmann of Brenham, Lydia Goessler of Brenham and Helen Gottwald of Austin.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Otto Kramer.
The funeral service will be at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 24 in St. John Lutheran Church of Prairie Hill with Pastor Virgil Pecht officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive visitors from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 23 at Memorial Oaks Chapel.
Pallbearers will be Nicholas Gilbert, Bobby Kramer, James Richter, Nolan Lehmann, David Lehmann and Ronald Gilbert.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be given to Hospice Brazos Valley – Brenham, 302 E. Blue Bell Rd., Brenham, TX 77833.
Appreciation to Hospice, AMA, as well as family and friends for their compassion and support.

Fred E. Stapleton
June 30, 1920 - January 8, 2006
Fred E. Stapleton, 85 of Brenham passed away Sunday, January 8, 2006. Fred was born June 30, 1920, in Gastonburg, Alabama to Robert Allen and Mamie Pugh Stapleton. After serving in the U.S. Army during World War II he graduated from the University of Houston with a degree in Petroleum Engineering. His work of 43 years with Petty Ray Geophysical took him and his family across the United States and over the world.
In 1993, he and his wife “Sug” moved to Brenham to raise cattle and clear huisache. He was a kind and generous man, a good husband and a loving father.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Cannon, and his brothers, Robert and Tom, all of Mobile, Alabama.
His survivors include: his wife of 65 years, Rubyetta Nix “Sug” Stapleton; daughter, Sallye Stapleton, of Friendswood, Texas; son and daughter-in-law, Fred and Lois Stapleton of Beaumont, Texas; 2 granddaughters, Teal De La Garza and Sarah Stapleton. His brother and sister-in-law, Lamar and Lee Stapleton of Gulf Shores, Alabama, also survive him.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, January 11, 2006 at Calvary Baptist Church, 1100 Niebuhr in Brenham with a reception to follow.
Memorials may be given to the Alzheimer’s Association, Houston and South East Texas Chapter, 2909 W. Holcombe Blvd., Houston, Texas 77025-9992 or the charity of choice.
Funeral arrangements are in the care of Brenham memorial Chapel, 2300 Stringer St., Brenham. 979-836-3611

Cleo Alexander Evans
Born in Yorktown, TX on Oct. 4, 1913
Departed on Jun. 19, 2004 and resided in Brenham, TX.

Cleo Evans, 90, of Burton, wife of Ernest Evans, died Saturday, at Kruse Village in Brenham.
She was born on October 4, 1913 in Yorktown, Texas, the daughter of Conrad and Ola Pearl Alexander Flowers.
Mrs. Evans attended and received her Bachelors Degree from Incarnate Word College in San Antonio, Texas and her Masters Degree from St. Mary’s University San Antonio, Texas. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Burton, Texas. She taught Sunday school, the children’s group and the ladies group at the First Baptist Church in Burton and at the First Baptist Church in Boerne, Texas and the North East Baptist Church in San Antonio, Texas while she was a member of those churches.
She was a kind and gentle lady who was devoted to her church and family and was loved by all.
In addition to her husband Ernest, she is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, John and Marsha Evans of Houston, TX; half-brothers, T. J. Flowers and his wife Ruby and Billy Ray Flowers of Houston, TX; niece, Julie Newbury of Belton, TX, and nephews, Ralph Ball of Katy, TX, and Seth Ball of Marlin, TX. Her parents, her son, James Ernest Evans, Jr. and her aunt, Jessie Flowers Naylor, preceded her in death.
The funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, June 22, 2004, at the First Baptist Church in Burton, TX, with Reverend Jack Broadwater officiating.
The family will be receiving friends and relatives at Memorial Oaks Chapel from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., Monday, June 21, 2004.
Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church in Burton, TX.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 West Main Street, Brenham.

Billy Gene Ferguson
May 8, 1979 - November 18, 2007
Our beloved son, grandson, brother, father and friend, Billy Gene Ferguson, born May 8, 1979 was taken to be with the Lord on November 18, 2007.
He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing and “chillin” with family and friends.
Survived by father Rick Ferguson, mother Patricia Smith; siblings Mystie Karge, Jeremy Ferguson, Gary Ferguson, Misty Moudy, Mark Smith, Savannah Smith…Uncle Trent; children Gavin Ferguson, Caleb and Hailey Stephenson; grandmothers Jackie Ferguson and Shirley Ison; numerous family members and friends.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 23, 2007 in Brenham Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow in Prairie Lea Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be siblings and Uncle Trent.
Memorials may be given to donor’s own charity.

Irene Johanna Lehmann

Irene Johanna Lehmann, 90, of Brenham, died Jan. 28, 2004, in Trinity Medical Center in Brenham.
Miss Lehmann was born March 30, 1913, in the Salem community of Washington County, TX, to Herman A. and Meta Schawe Lehmann. She was baptized June 29, 1913, in Salem Lutheran Church in Salem by Rev. Mgebroff and was confirmed April 1, 1928, in the same church by Rev. Utesch. Miss Lehmann was a homemaker.
Survivors include her brother and sister-in-law, Herman and Bessie Lehmann of Bellville; sister, Vernita Lehmann of Brenham; and a nephew and niece, Kenneth and Betty Lehmann of Brenham.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Meta Lehmann and Helen Lehmann.
The family will receive visitors from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Friday, Jan. 30 in Memorial Oaks Chapel.
The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 31 in Salem Lutheran Church in Salem with Pastors Bill Derrick and Mike Widner officiating. Burial will be in Prairie Lea Cemetery in Brenham.
Pallbearers will be Alvin Schawe, Alvin Lehmann, Melvin Schilling, Waldo Dannhaus, Milton Fred Hueske and Roy Dannhaus.
Honorary pallbearers will be Lonnie Nordt, L.C. Nordt, Robert Lehmann, Roy B. Schroeder, Glen Schroeder, Bernard Dannhaus and Luther Hueske.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Salem Lutheran Church in Salem.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main St., in Brenham.
