Mildred Harris Baskin (Dickie), age 85 of Houston, formerly of Waller passed away on January 27, 2015. Visitation will be Friday, January 30, from 1:00 - 2:00pm. Funeral Services will follow at 2:00pm at Canon Funeral Home with Pastor Roy Harris officiating. Interment will follow at Waller Cemetery. Dorothy (Rosner) Calaway
Dorothy (Rosner) Calaway, 84, of Brenham and the wife of Arthur Calaway, passed away Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at her residence. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. and Rosary at 7:00 p.m. tonight, Thursday, January 22 in Brenham Memorial Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, January 23 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Rev. Jayaraju “Jay” Polisetty and Monsignor Benedict Zientek as Celebrants. Burial will follow in Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Dorothy Calaway is survived by: her husband of 66 years Arthur E. Calaway; sisters-in-law Gladys Roberts, Pearlie Rosner, Flora Ann Calaway; brother-in-law Steve Wesneski; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great nephews, great-great-nieces, great-great nephews and five godchildren Leon Konieczny, Gary Gaetz, Lisa Rosner, Tracy Mikolajchak and Shirley Atwood. Pallbearers are Greg Rosner, Gary Gaetz, Ronnie Gaetz, Eugene Gaetz, Donnie Wesneski, Steven Ray Wesneski. Honorary pallbearers are Leon Konieczny and George Konieczny. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Hospice Brazos Valley, 302 E. Blue Bell Brenham, TX. Road or Mass Intention for Dorothy Calaway at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 701 Church St. Brenham, TX. Edward Anthony Pothul, Sr.
Edward Anthony Pothul, Sr., 74, the Father of KWHI Sports Director - Ed Pothul (Sports Doc), died unexpectedly on January 5, 2015. Ed is survived by his wife, Hazel, his sons Edward, Jr., John (Sandra) and Steven (Lori), his daughter Jennifer Pothul (Charles Spirydowski), his sister Maryann Fox (Harry), and 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held of Friday, January 9, at 11:00am at Finnerty and Stevens Funeral Home in Great Barrington, Mass., conducted by Rev. Charles VanAusdall. Burial will be in the spring. The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 8, from 4:00 - 7:00pm at the funeral home in Great Barrington. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Edward A. Pothul Memorial Fund or the New Chapter of the Future Farmers of America at Mount Everett through Finnerty and Stevens Funeral Home, 426 Main St., Great Barrington, MA 01230.

Lillie Lueck Stremmel Krupka
Lillie Lueck Stremmel Krupka, 102, of Brenham, died January 6, 2015 at Gazebo Terrace Skilled Care and Rehab. A graveside service will take place at 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 9, 2015 at Prairie Lea Cemetery. Pastor Phil Fenton will officiate. Visitation will be from 5:30 until 7:00 Thursday evening at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Survivors include her sister, Ella Tegeler; nephew, LeRoy Tegeler and wife Lottie; great-nephew Carl Tegeler and wife Sarah, and great-niece, Dana Tegeler. She was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Martha Lueck; her first husband, Alvin H. Stremmel, second husband, Vincent Krupka, and a brother-in-law, LeRoy Tegeler, Sr. Funeral arrangements for Lillie Krupka are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main, Brenham.

Harvey John Ebert, Sr.
Harvey John Ebert, Sr., age 85 of Brenham and the husband of Denise Ebert, passed away Monday, January 19, 2015 after a long, brave battle with Parkinson’s Disease. In 1978, Harvey and his wife established Harvey’s Water Wells Company – drilling and repairing water wells in Washington and surrounding counties. He is survived by: his wife of 60 years, Denise Ebert; daughter, Lisa Stacey; son and daughter-in-law, Harvey John Jr. and Linda Ebert; grandson Jamie Ebert and his wife Brooke and great granddaughter Addie Grace; and grandson, Desmond Traudt. Viewing will be Tuesday, January 20th, at 12 noon until 7:00pm and also Wednesday, January 21 from 7:00am until 3:00pm at Brenham Memorial Chapel. A celebration of Harvey John Ebert, Sr.’s life will be held Wednesday, January 21 at 3:00pm in Brenham Memorial Chapel with Pastor Kenneth Weiss officiating. Interment will follow in Eben-Ezer Lutheran Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to Eben-Ezer Lutheran Church of Berlin or Baylor Scott and White Hospital in Brenham. Services are in the care of Brenham Memorial Chapel, 2300 Stringer St., Brenham, TX 77833.

Raymond Earl "Peanut" Holder, age 63, of Waller, passed away on January 17, 2015. Visitation will be on Monday, January 19, from 5:00 - 7:00pm. Funeral services for Lee Roy Weiss, 90, of Brenham, husband of Allyne Weiss, are scheduled for 2:00pm, Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at Immanuel Lutheran Church of Wiedeville. Pastor Erbey Gonzalez will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for Monday evening from 6:00 - 8pm at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Mr. Weiss passed away January 17, 2015 at Brenham Rest Home, surrounded by his loving family. Survivors include his wife, Allyne Weiss; son and daughter-in-law Don and Kay Weiss; daughter and son-in-law Pam and Don Bolenbarr, all of Brenham; grandchildren: Cristina and Troy Ashorn, Tiffany and Kevin Kalkhake, Brian and Ashley Weiss, Misty Weiss, Shawn and Emily Bolenbarr; great-grandchildren: Allie Rosenbaum and special friend Jared Purser, Alex Rosenbaum, Brayden and Trace Ashorn; Briar and Blakley Kalkhake, Cohen, Carly and Carah Weiss, Oliver and Jameson Weiss, along with Baby Kase Donald Bolenbarr to be joining us in May; sisters Lillie Mae Dahmann, Doris Gajeske and husband Robert, and sister-in-law, Lavern Weiss. He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Lillie Weiss; mother-in-law and father-in-law Henry and Emelia Herrmann; brother, Herman (Bubba) Weiss, Jr., an infant brother; sisters-in-law Bernice Sommerfield, and Emelia (Baby) Hoff; brothers-in-law Bob Watkins, Reinhold Herrmann, Alfred Herrmann, Henry Herrmann, Jr., and Melvin Maurer. Funeral arrangements for Lee Roy Weiss are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main, Brenham.

Mabel Minnie Martha Schmidt, 95, of Brenham, died January 10, 2015 at Kruse Village in Brenham. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at Martin Luther Lutheran Church of Carmine, with Pastor David Tinker officiating. Burial will follow in the Carmine Cemetery. The family will receive friends and family Tuesday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Survivors include her daughter, Marlene Waak and husband Conway Jr. of Carmine; daughter-in-law Kay Schmidt of Giddings; grandchildren Sheryl and Steve Campbell of Tomball, Chance and Naomi Waak of California, and Amelia (Mia) and James (Buck) Williams of Carmine; great-grandchildren: Carson Campbell and Katie Campbell of Tomball; Wyatt, Nolan and Drake Waak, all of Atascadero, California; Reagan, Morgan and Bowen Williams, all of Carmine; sisters Pearlie Jaster of Dallas, Idell Kraus of Giddings, and sister and brother-in-law Willie Mae and Odell Lueckemeyer of Brenham, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Marvin and Mary Schmidt of Houston. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Mabel was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Nolan Schmidt, and her son, Jerry Schmidt. Also preceding her in death were sister and brother-in-law Janette and Ruben Schmidt, and brothers-in-law E. W. “Pete” Kraus and Elvis Jaster. Funeral services for Dolly Ruth Mitchell Armatys are scheduled for 10 a.m., Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at St. Paul Lutheran Church of Rehburg. Pastor Denise Seymour will officiate. Mrs. Armatys passed away January 11, 2015 at Christus Dubuis Hospital in Bryan. Visitation will be from 5:30 until 7:30 Tuesday evening at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Interment will take place Wednesday at 2 p.m. in Oakland Cemetery in Navasota. Survivors include son-in-law Bobby Kloecker and wife Vicky of Burton; grandchildren: Michele Ebner and husband Reagie of Ledbetter; Shane Kloecker of Burton; step-grandchild Charlsa and Mark Goodman of Caldwell; great-grandchildren: Louis Symons of Ledbetter, and step great-grandchildren Jack and Sophie Goodman of Caldwell; sisters-in-law Viola Mitchell of Cleveland, Texas, Betty Joe Armatys, Leona Pasket, Betty Sue Ketchum, and Angelina Petersen and husband Wallace. She was preceded in death by her husband, Steve Armatys; daughter Stevelyn Kloecker; brother Edd Mitchell, Jr.; her parents, and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. Funeral arrangements for Dolly Armaty are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel.

Don Stephen Franklin, 87, of Hempstead, passed away January 5, 2015 at his residence. Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m., Thursday, January 8, 2015 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hempstead, with Pastor Lee Hartman officiating. The family will receive friends and relatives at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hempstead from 10 a.m. until service time at 11 a.m. Burial will take place in Prairie Lea Cemetery in Brenham at 1:30 p.m. Thursday. Survivors include his wife, Mildred Franklin of Hempstead; son and daughter-in-law Thomas Alan and Cindy Franklin of Houston; daughter Ann Marie Franklin of Houston; grandchildren: Reese Alan Franklin and wife Melany, Matthew Seth Franklin and Christopher Brooks Franklin, and great-grandson Conor Knox Franklin. Other surviving relatives are nieces Kaye Griswold, Judy Justus and husband David, as well as a great-nephew, Chad Justus. He was preceded in death by sisters Tina Griswold and Francis Cross. Funeral arrangements for Don Stephen Franklin are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 West Main, Brenham.
