Robert E. McGonigal,

LOCK HAVEN — Robert E. McGonigal, 85, of 43 Chatham Village, McElhattan, died Friday, Jan. 19, 2001 in Lock Haven Hospital. He had been in failing health and entered the hospital a week ago.
Born Dec. 12, 1915 in Beaver Falls, he was the son of the late Bartley and Eva Phillips McGonigal. He was a 1934 graduate of Lock Haven High School.
He and his wife, Hilda Poust McGonigal, were united in marriage June 3, 1944. She survives.
Mr. McGonigal retired in 1976 from the former New York and Central Railroad now known as Conrail, working in both the Jersey Shore and Clearfield offices for 33 years.
He was a member and past deacon of the First Church of Christ in Lock Haven, and a member of the Lock Haven-Mill Hall Golden K Kiwanis Club.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Neal R. and his wife Dawn McGonigal of Mill Hall; a daughter, Mrs. David (Doris J.) Mitnick of Suffolk, Va.; a sister, Mrs. Edith Hart of Jersey Shore; and two grandsons.
He was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters.

LOCK HAVEN — Clair D. Sheasley, 80, of 983 W. Fourth St., Lock Haven, died Monday, Jan. 22, 2001 in his home.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Yost-Gedon Funeral Home, 121 W. Main St., Lock Haven.

William T. Reich,
retired professor
JERSEY SHORE — William T. Reich, 77, died Saturday, Jan. 21, 2001 in ManorCare Nursing Home, Jersey Shore, where he had been a resident of the Alzheimer’s unit.
He had lived in Clinton County since 1967, when he joined the English faculty at Lock Haven State College. He retired in 1990.
He was born Oct. 27, 1923 in New York City, a son of the late Henry Reich Jr. and Molka (Tenenholtz) Reich.
The legendary “Marrying Sam Russell,” along the old Tamiami Trail, united him in marriage with Irene Williams Hoffman in 1941.

Canda M. Krugle,

JERSEY SHORE — Canda M. Krugle, 42, of Shady Acres Trailer Court, Antes Forte, died Sunday, Jan. 21, 2001 in Jersey Shore Hospital. She is the wife of Vincent Krugle.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Rearick-Carpenter Funeral Home, 1002 Allegheny St., Jersey Shore.

Wilson M. Carson,

WILLIAMSPORT — Wilson M. Carson, 83, formerly of Brookside, died Sunday, Jan. 21, 2001 in the Williamsport Home.
Born Aug. 23, 1917 in Brookside, he was the son of the late Judd Carson and the former Bertha Caldwell.
He and his wife, the former Alice P. Ross, were united in marriage Jan. 7, 1937. She preceded him in death April 29, 1994.

Herbert S. Wadsworth,

LOCK HAVEN — Herbert S. Wadsworth, 80, of 323 Second Ave., Lock Haven, died Saturday, Jan. 20, 2001 in Lock Haven Hospital.
Born Oct. 16, 1920 in Lock Haven, he was the son of the late Leonard and Nellie Bauman Wadsworth.
He was married to June E. Temple Wadsworth who survives.

LOCK HAVEN — Sarah J. Probst, 79, of R.R. 2 Lock Haven, died Saturday, Jan. 20, 2001 in the Lock Haven Hospital Extended Care Unit.
Born Oct. 18, 1921 in Woolrich, she was the daughter of the late Raymond Kalmbach and Margaret Lannen Kalmbach.
She was married to Richard A. Probst on April 3, 1948. He survives.

Charles J. (Zeke) Powell,

LOCK HAVEN — Charles J. (Zeke) Powell, 67, of R.R. 3 Mill Hall, died Sunday, Jan. 21, 2001 in Lock Haven Hospital.
Born Oct. 2, 1933, in Lock Haven, he was the son of the late Earl and Mary Walker Powell.
He was married to former Gloria J. Nihart for 45 years. She survives.

Anna D. Michele,

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Anna D. Michele, formerly of Lock Haven, died Sunday, Jan. 21, 2001 in Albuquerque, N.M, where she had resided since 1953.
She is survived by a sister, Mary Louise Graziano and her husband Rocco of Lock Haven, and many nieces and nephews in Lock Haven.

Born Jan. 26, 1921 in Lewis Township, Northumberland County, he was the son of the late Charles N. and Grace M. (Confer) Erdly.

Calvin F. Vance,

LOCK HAVEN — Calvin F. Vance, 77, a former employee of the Ingram Oil Company, died Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2001 in the extended care unit of the Lock Haven Hospital, where he had been a resident.
Born May 15, 1923 in Eastville, he was the son of the late Samuel William and Margaret Elizabeth Brunner Vance.

Eugene H. Kephart,
Pine Township supervisor
ENGLISH CENTER — Eugene “Gene” H. Kephart, 55, of English Center, a supervisor for Pine Township, died Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2001 at his home.
Mr. Kephart was born May 14, 1945 in Jersey Shore, the son of the late Ray and Euphemia Heggenstaller Kephart. He was a graduate of Wellsboro High School.

Ada S. Nelson, 91,

JERSEY SHORE — Mrs. Ada S. Nelson, 91, formerly of Tiadaghton Gardens, Jersey Shore, died Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2001 in the ManorCare Health Center, Jersey Shore.
Born Nov. 17, 1909 in Renovo, she was the daughter of William Frye and the former Lydia Swartz.
She and Alford M. Nelson Sr. were united in marriage June 27, 1931. He preceded her in death on July 8, 1984.

Born Sept. 17, 1914 in Lock Haven, she was the daughter of the late William E. and Cora M. Felmlee Crider.
She was married to John Paul Rathmell Sr. He preceded her in death Oct. 25, 1984.

JERSEY SHORE — Ada S. Nelson, 91, formerly of Tiadaghton Gardens, Jersey Shore, died Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2001 in ManorCare Health Center, Jersey Shore. Arrangements are being handled by the Frederick B. Welker Funeral Home, 125 N. Main St., Jersey Shore.

LOCK HAVEN — Gisela E. Vawryk, 65, of West Water Street, Lock Haven, formerly of Stevensville, Md., died Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2001 in the Lock Haven Hospital.
Born March 7, 1935 in Berlin, Germany, she was the daughter of Ida Kleinschmidt and the late Erich Kleinschmidt.
She and her husband, Nicholas Vawryk, were united in marriage Dec. 8, 1956 in Germany. He preceded her in death Dec. 15, 1997.

Madeline B. Riday,

SOUTHAMPTON — Madeline B. Riday, 89, of Southampton, a former Renovo resident, died Saturday, Jan. 6, 2001 in Southampton Estates Medical Care Facility.
Born Feb. 10, 1911 in Williamsport, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Mary Elizabeth Lins Billman.
She married Raymond S. Riday on Oct. 19, 1957 who preceded her in death.

Leroy ‘Freddie’ Packer,
Champion retiree
STATE COLLEGE — Leroy J. “Freddie” Packer, 80, of Orviston, died Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2001 in Centre Community Hospital, State College.
Born March 24, 1920 in Curtin Township, he was the son of the late Oscar and Tammy Gardner Packer.
He was married to Kathryn W. Walker on March 4, 1943 in Beech Creek. She survives.
