Ora Nell Foster Hutsell
Ora Nell Foster Hutsell, 88, of Athens, died Sunday, April 16, 2006, at Brookewood Nursing Home in Decatur.
A native and resident of McMinn County for most of her life, she was a daughter of the late Elmer and Maggie Mintz Davis, and was preceded in death by her first husband, Tommy Foster; her former husband, Maynard Hutsell; one son, Charles Edwin Foster; one daughter-in-law, Bobbie Sue Foster; one brother, Olen B. Davis; and two sisters, Mary Alice Houston and Annie Mosier. She was a member of Tranquility United Methodist Church and was a Sunday school teacher there for 30 years, and also at Sewee Church of God for many years. She was a Layleader of Tranquility United Methodist Church and was a former V-President of the McMinn County United Methodist Women. She was a former member of the Tranquility Home Demonstration Club, was a teacherīs aide at E.K. Baker School, worked with the Election Commission as a demonstration clerk and worked for Easter Seals and March of Dimes.
Survivors include one daughter, Linda Gail Murphy of Goldsboro, N.C.; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Kenneth Alvin and Jimmie Foster of Goldsboro, N.C., and Bobby Joe Foster of Cleveland; one sister, Geneva Oliver of Banner Elk, N.C.; one brother, Robert Lee Davis of Georgetown, Ga.; 13 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 8 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home with the Rev. Luther Eslenger officiating. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Sewee Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Davis, Jim Davis, Stanley Davis, Ralph Borders and Tim Foster.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home of Athens is in charge of arrangements.

Joan Marie Hunt Richardson
Joan Marie Hunt Richardson, 63, of Decatur, and formerly of Chicago, Ill., died Monday, April 17, 2006, at Athens Regional Medical Center.
A native of Chicago, Ill., and a resident of Decatur for the past seven years, she was a member of Concord United Methodist Church and was preceded in death by her parents; and one sister, Jan.
Survivors include her husband of 24 years, Gene Richardson of Decatur; two daughters, Misty Lynn Duna and Samantha Taylor Garcia, both of Decatur; one granddaughter, Katlyn Duna; five sisters, Cheryl West, Rose Collins, Roberta Hunt, Barbara Milbratz and Linda Largent; and one brother, William Hunt.
A memorial service will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Concord United Methodist Church with the Rev. Archer Coppedge officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Concord United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 1255, Decatur, TN 37322.
Ziegler Funeral Home of Athens is in charge of arrangements.

Ida Pearl Gillion Boudion
Ida Pearl Gillion Boudion, 66, of Athens, died Tuesday, April 18, 2006, at her residence.
A native of Sterling, Texas, and a resident of Athens for three years, she was a former resident of the Tidewater area of Virginia and a resident of the Outer Banks of North Carolina for 25 years. She was a daughter of the late Luther Fayette and Lillie Mae Lewis Gillion, and was a member of Poplar Branch Baptist Church in Grandy, N.C. She was secretary to the district manager of Prudential Insurance Company for 12 years and was preceded in death by her husband, Phillip Boudion; and one sister, Barbara Jean Gillion.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Susan Patterson-Midgett and Michael Midgett of Niota; one sister, Betty Altman of Norfolk, Va.; and one brother, B.L. Gillion of Norfolk, Va.
There will be no formal visitation or services.
Family and friends may visit 1540 Burnsbrooke Lane in Athens to pay their condolences from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday.

Carlos John King
Carlos John King, 65, of Athens, died Tuesday, April 18, 2006, at his home.
A lifelong resident of McMinn County, he was a son of the late Joe and Ruby Jones King, and was preceded in death by one brother, Ronnie King. He was of the Baptist faith, was a member of Union Local 846 of Chattanooga, a cattle trader and a former avid bowler.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Peggy Kyle King of Athens; one daughter, Sheri Stewart of Athens; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jeff and Tamara King of Riceville, and Johnny and Cristy King of Athens; five grandchildren, Joshua Stewart of Athens, Justin Stewart of Niota, Alyssa King and Calli King, both of Athens, and Jared King of Riceville; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Bernice and Roy Leamon and Vicky and James Wright, all of Riceville; three brothers and three sisters-in-law, twin brother Carl and Veronica King, the Rev. Garry and Shirley King, Larry King and Faye King, all of Riceville; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at McMinn Memory Gardens with the Rev. Garry King officiating.
Pallbearers will be Joe King, Michael King, Carl King Sr., David Leamon, Rick King and Stacey King.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home.

Nicholas Joseph Lopiparo Jr.
Nicholas Joseph Lopiparo Jr., 63, of Athens, died Wednesday, April 12, 2006, at his residence.
A native of New Orleans, La., and a former resident of Alpharetta, Ga., he was a resident of Athens for seven years. He was of the Catholic faith and was preceded in death by his parents, Nicholas Sr. and Julia Dominguez Lopiparo; and one sister, Evelyn Lopiparo LeBlanc.
Survivors include three daughters, Julia Lopiparo of Prairieville, La., Nicole Lopiparo of Metairie, La., and Lydia Lopiparo-Shinn of Brooklyn, N.Y.; and one grandson, Fredrick William Shinn III of Brooklyn, N.Y.
Memorial services will be 3 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Ziegler Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the American Diabetes Association, 5805 Lee Highway, Chattanooga, TN 37421.

David Franklin Harrod
David Franklin Harrod, 54, of Athens, died Sunday, May 7, 2006, at his home.
He was born Sept. 2, 1951 to Felix and the late Kathryn Grayson Harrod. A native of McMinn County and raised in Athens, he was a member of Keith Memorial United Methodist Church.
A 1969 graduate of McMinn County High School, a 1973 graduate of Tennessee Technological University, and a 1976 graduate of the University of Tennessee College of Law, he practiced law in Athens for 29 years. In 1982, he was elected to serve as a Circuit Court Judge for the Tenth Judicial District. He retired in 1986 and was a founding partner of Carter, Harrod & Cunningham, which is now Carter, Harrod & Willhite, PLLC. He served as counsel to Athens Federal Community Bank, Citizens National Bank, Athens Utilities Board, Bowater Newsprint and the McMinn County Board of Education. He was licensed to practice in the state of Tennessee, the U.S. District Court, the U.S. Court of Appeals, the Sixth Circuit and the U.S. Supreme Court. He was a member of the McMinn-Meigs Bar Association for which he served as president in 1988-1989. He was a member of the Tennessee Bar Association, Tennessee Defense Lawyers Association, Tennessee Bar Foundation and Tennessee Supreme Court Historical Society. He was also a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers (ACTL). He was a member of the Citizens National Bank Board of Directors, Athens City School Board, Coordinated Charities Board and various committees of Keith Memorial United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Vicki Newton Harrod; one daughter and son-in-law, Laurie Lea and Hunter Hallenberg, all of Athens; two sons and one daughter-in-law, David Franklin Harrod Jr., and Andrew Grayson and Cara Greene Harrod, all of Knoxville; two grandsons, Grayson Thomas Harrod and Jackson Andrew Harrod, both of Knoxville; his father, Felix D. Harrod of Athens; his grandmother, Gertrude Guffey Harrod of Athens; one brother and sister-in-law, Doug and Karen Harrod of Athens; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Steva Harrod of Athens, and Trudy and Jim Evans of Knoxville; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 10:35 a.m. Wednesday at Keith Memorial United Methodist Church.
The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to noon and from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Keith Memorial United Methodist Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in memory of David Franklin Harrod to: Keith Memorial United Methodist Church Building Fund, 600 W.
