Weldon S. Combest
Funeral services for Weldon S. Combest, 79, of Wylie, will be held at 1 p.m. today, Dec. 3, 2003, at the First Baptist Church Wylie.
Interment will follow in Ridgeview Memorial Park.
Dr. A.L. Draper and the Rev. Ray Richey will officiate.
Mr. Combest died Dec. 1 in Wylie.
He was born Nov. 12, 1924, in Anna to Edgar and Edna (Johnson) Combest. He was a member of the First Baptist Church Wylie and a retired carpenter.
Survivors include brothers, Edgar L. Combest of McKinney and Billy H. Combest of Princeton; sisters, Peggy Minihan of Wylie, Edith Barnett of Princeton and Mrs. T.V. Stroud of Princeton.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Alton J. Combest, and sister, Lois Barnett. Arrangements are under the direction of Allen Funeral Home.

Sarah Lynette Hamlett
Funeral services for Sarah Lynette Hamlett, 95, of Selma, Ala., were held Nov. 25, 2003, at the Allen Funeral Home Chapel. Interment followed in the Wylie Cemetery.
The Revs. David Blakey and Chancy Gore officiated.
Mrs. Hamlett died Nov. 21 at her residence.
She was born July 10, 1908, in Stultz, Mo. to Orbie E. and Mattie (Dillen) Fugate. She owned and operated a fabric store.
Survivors include son, Derald E. Hamlett; daughters, Flora J. Tyler and Beverly H. Madonia; 26 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John H. Hamlett, Sr.; two sons, John H. Hamlett, Jr. and Donald R. Hamlett; and four daughters, Margaret Hatfield, Virginia L. Finney, Dorothy Hines and Lena Jane Hamlett.
Arrangements were under the direction of Allen Funeral Home.

Maude Alene Benson
Funeral services for Maude Alene Benson, 87, of Garland, were held Nov. 28, 2003, at the Allen Funeral Home Chapel. Interment followed in the Kreymer Cemetery in Wylie.
The Rev. Thomas Maynard officiated.
Mrs. Benson died Nov. 24 in Mesquite.
She was born May 30, 1916, in Clear Lake to Robert Lee and Lula (Townsend) Hatfield. She married on March 27, 1933, to James A. Benson who preceded her in death. She worked at the fountain at Payne’s Drug Store in Garland.
Survivors include son, James Lee Benson of Garland; daughters, Donna Sims of Canton and Marie Wilson of Arlington; brothers, John Hatfield of Wylie and Clifford Hatfield of Merietta; sister, Oleta Bagwell of Merietta; eight grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Arrangements were under the direction of Allen Funeral Home.

Mary Katherine Ward
Mass for Mary Katherine Ward, 79, of Wylie, was held Nov. 29, 2003, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Wylie. Interment followed in the St. Paul Cemetery.
Father Loyd Morris officiated.
Mrs. Ward died Nov. 26 in Plano.
She was born Jan. 13, 1924 in Ithaca, N.Y. to Francis and Katherine (Wenderlich) Grady. She was a retired executive secretary.
Survivors include son, Tony Ward of Keller; daughters, Marilyn Mowry of Irving, Mary E. Ward of Austin, Sheila Bilty of Denmark, Wis. , Tina Howrey of Wylie, and Margaret Houge of Plainfield, Ill.; sister, Patty Obranski of Florida; 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Arrangements were under the direction of Allen Funeral Home.

Linda Wooten
Funeral services for Linda Wooten, 60, of Wylie, were held Nov. 28, 2003, at the Church of Christ in Memphis, Texas. Interment followed in the Fairview Cemetery in Memphis. Tom Anderson officiated.
Mrs. Wooten died Nov. 24 in Dallas.
She was born Dec. 8, 1942, in Memphis to the late J.L. Rea and Lois Williams Rea. She attended schools in Memphis and graduated in San Francisco, Calif., in 1978. She was married on Nov. 15, 1959, to Phil Wooten in Memphis and in 1989 moved to Wylie from Vernon.
She worked as a comptroller for Eastern Hills Country Club.
Survivors include her husband, Phil Wooten of Wylie; three sons, Kirk A. Wooten of Vernon, Jayme G. Wooten of Leakey and Justin D. Wooten of Plano; one daughter, Lori Strickland of Vernon; one brother, Gary L. Rea of Haskell; one sister, Vickie V. Greenway of Aubrey; her mother-in-law, Ola Mae Wooten of Memphis; and five grandchildren, Alyssa Wooten, Dylan Strickland, Katelyn Wooten and Kirstie Wooten, all of Vernon, and Cody Wooten of Leakey.
The family requests that memorials be made to the Boys and Girls Club, 2015 Yamparika St., Vernon, TX 76384.
Arrangements were under the direction of Hughs Funeral Home in Memphis.

Thomas S. Vaught
Funeral services for Thomas S. Vaught, of Mesquite, were held Dec. 1 at Allen Funeral Home in Wylie. The Rev. Thomas Maynard officiated with interment following at the Wylie Cemetery.
Mr. Vaught, 76, died Nov. 29, 2003, in Dallas.
He was born Jan. 10, 1917, in Paul’s Valley, Okla., to Otho and Lizzy Cleseta (Cox) Vaught.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Louise Vaught of Mesquite; sons, Jerry Vaught of Mesquite, Terry Vaught of Wills Point, Thomas R. Vaught of Dallas, Jimmy Vaught of Dallas, Russell K. Vaught of Dallas, Marshall R. Vaught of Dallas, and Michael Tommy Vaught of Dallas; daughters, Betty Ann Vaught Caldwell of Mesquite and Mrytle Louise Vaught of Dallas; brother Henry Vaught of Mesquite; sister, Alline Vaught White of Howe; 13 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
Arrangements were under the direction of Allen Funeral Home.

William Young
Funeral services for William Young, 69, of Wylie, were held Nov. 10, 2003, at the First Baptist Church of Sachse.
Interment followed in the Kreymer Cemetery.
The Revs. Bill Booher and Billy Harris officiated.
Mr. Young died Nov. 7 in Wylie.
He was born in Royse City. He was preceded in death by his wife, Georgia Sue Young; his parents, Tom and Hattie Young; and a brother, Oscar Young.
Survivors include his seven children: daughters, Sherry Moody and her husband Steven and Terri Spence and her husband Donald; sons, Douglas and his wife Paula, Michael and his wife Frances, Jerry and his wife April, Tommy, and Robert and his wife Janice; 22 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and brothers, Robert Young and Tommy Young.
Arrangements were under the direction of Charles W. Smith & Sons Funeral Home.

Emmit Monroe McAdams
Graveside services for Emmit Monroe McAdams, 81, of Wylie, were held Nov. 22, 2003, at the Wylie Cemetery.
The Rev. Allen Stroud officiated.
Mr. McAdams died Nov. 20 at his home.
He was born Jan. 31, 1922 in Fouke, Ark., to William and Allie Mae McAdams. He grew up in Fouke and later moved to Texarkana, Ark. where he worked at the Munitions Plant for several years before moving to Dallas and then to Wylie.
After his retirement from Dearborn Corporation in Dallas, he stayed busy doing odd jobs and mowing yards for his many friends in Wylie.
He married Jenny Lou Palmer, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his parents and four brothers, Virgil McAdams in 1993, James Andrew McAdams in 1995 and Marvin McAdams and Alfred McAdams in 1996.
Survivors include his brother and sister-in-law, Wiley and Georgie McAdams of Lebanon, Ore.; sister-in-law, Molean McAdams of Olathe, Kan.; brother-in-law, Ricky Palmer and sister-in-law, Cathy Chapman of Winn, Ark.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
According to his family, Mr. McAdams was a kind and gentle man who will be missed by family and friends.
Arrangements were under the direction of Allen Funeral Home.

Charles William Loney
Funeral mass for Charles William Loney, 72, of Wylie, was held Nov. 18, 2003, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Wylie.
Interment followed in the St. Paul Cemetery in St. Paul.
Mr. Loney was born Feb. 1, 1931 in Neola, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by parents, Charles E. and Eulalia H. Loney; daughter, Marilyn Elaine Loney and sisters, Mary Jean Hall and Joyce Ann Eckmann.
He was commissioned as an officer in 1956 and was transferred to Lackland Air Force Base; he went to Ellington AFB for navigator training; Keesler AFB, Miss. for Electrical Engineer training; Walker AFB, N.M. where he flew B-52s. He was then transferred overseas where he was stationed at Ramstein AFB, Germany. He transferred to Takli and Korat AF bases in Thailand where he flew EB-66s. He returned stateside where he retired from the Air Force in 1973.
Mr. Loney retired from Control Data in 1990 and moved to Sachse in 1992 to be near his daughter and son-in-law and beloved grandsons. He enjoyed doing tractor work and home computers.
He was a member of the St. Anthony Catholic Church in Wylie.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Luci Loney; daughter, Carolyn Loraine Loney Valcik and son-in-law, David Valcik; son, David Charles Loney and daughter-in-law, Rose Xu Loney; grandsons, Stephen David Valcik and Justin Charles Valcik of Sachse, Edward Xu Loney of Garland; granddaughter, Jasmine Rose Loney of Garland; sister, Joan Marilyn Mattingly of Centerville, Iowa; brother, Michael John Loney of California; uncle, Harry Grate and wife Pearl; aunt Mary Martin and husband Thomas; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in his name be made to the American Cancer Society.
Arrangements were under the direction of Allen Funeral Home.

Floyd Oscar Bratcher
Funeral services for Floyd Oscar Bratcher, 82, of Wylie, were held Nov. 18, 2003, at the First Baptist Church in Sachse.
Interment followed in the Big Springs Cemetery in Garland.
Pastor Bryan Hutchinson officiated.
Mr. Bratcher died Nov. 15 in Garland.
He was preceded in death by his son, Jimmy Bratcher; parents, Oscar and Ettie Mae Bratcher; brother, Harvey Bratcher; and three sisters, Margaret Weeks, Loretta Elliott and Patsy Monk.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Betty Bratcher; three sons, Gary Bratcher and his wife Connie, Charles Bratcher and his wife Teri, and Mike Bratcher and his wife Cindy; six grandchildren, Alisha Hutchinson, Amber Ferguson, Crystal McClary, Brandi Featherston, Tiffany Perez and Jamie Bratcher; six great-grandchildren, Peyton and Madison Hutchinson, Ally Jones, Haylee Featherston, Trey McClary and Abigail Perez; one brother, Thomas Eddie Monk; and two sisters, Rosalee (Sally) Bratcher Deal and Lois Richardson.
Arrangements were under the direction of Charles W. Smith & Sons Funeral Home

Frances Clare Focht
Frances Clare Focht, 69, of Wylie, died Nov. 14, 2003, following a brief illness.
She was preceded in death 10 months ago by her beloved husband of 50 years, Jack Focht.
Mrs. Focht was born June 10, 1934, in Swindon, England and came to America in 1952. She and her husband owned Jack’s Grocery in Sachse in the early 1970s and then the Lavon Bait House in Wylie.
She also worked for many years at the Wylie Northeast Water Supply Corporation. She was a devoted mother and homemaker.
She loved her dogs, Rosie and Molly, her cockatiel, Joey, her garden and cactus, and her many personal and cyber friends.
Survivors include her son, Lee R. Focht and daughter, Tracy C. Focht, both of Wylie; Brian and Beryl Miles, John and Jean Miles, Derrick, Mary, Stephen, Amy, Louise, Ben and Jessica Miles, all of Swindon, England; and he dearest friend, Marilyn Young of Garland.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the American Cancer Society or to your local blood bank.
Arrangements were under the direction of Allen Funeral Home.

Urmal Modell Hendricks
Funeral services for Urmal Modell Hendricks, 97, of Lavon, were held Nov. 17, 2003, at the Allen Funeral Home Chapel in Wylie.
Interment followed in the Arbalbra Cemetery in Sulphur Springs.
The Rev. Clint Bratcher officiated.
Mrs. Hendricks died Nov. 14 at her residence.
She was born Nov. 23, 1905, in Yantis to James Monroe and Ada (Wells) Grubbs.
She was married on Aug. 23, 1923, to Morton Gibbs Hendricks, who preceded her in death. They owned a cafe where she did the cooking.
Survivors include her children, Morton C. Hendricks, Jr. of St. Paul and Ruby Lee Rollins of Lavon; 10 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and 16 great-great-grandchildren.
Arrangements were under the direction of Allen Funeral Home.

Vito Peri
Funeral services for Vito Peri, Sr., 67, of Wylie, were held Nov. 15, 2003, at St. Anthony Catholic Church.
Interment followed at Ridgeview Memorial Park.
Mr. Peri died Nov. 12 in Richardson. He was born Jan. 8, 1936, in Bronx, N.Y., to Andrew and Rosa (Sutera) Peri.
On April 12, 1958, he married Margaret Santi in Bronx, N.Y.
Mr. Peri served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Korean Conflict.
He was a customer service representative for American Airlines with 34 years of service.
Mr. Peri was a member of the St. Anthony Catholic Church in Wylie where he was an active volunteer. Mr. Peri was also a 3rd Degree Knight of Columbus.
He was a volunteer fireman and emergency medical technician in New York.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret Peri of Wylie; sons, Andrew Peri and his wife, Tami, of Bowie and Vito Peri Jr. and his wife, Renee, of Wylie; daughter, Rose McNatt and her husband, Barry, of Plano; grandchildren, Andrew, Matthew, Jordan, Vito III, Jess, Garrett, Elisa, Holly, and Amanda; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives.
His parents; brother, Anthony Peri; and sister, Mary Solazzo preceded him in death.

Kenneth Don Rylant
Funeral services for Kenneth Don Rylant, 67, were held Nov. 7, 2003, at the Allen Funeral Home Chapel in Wylie. Interment followed in the Nevada Cemetery.
The Rev. Randy Hargrave officiated.
Pallbearers were Donnie McGuire, Jay McGuire, Doug McGuire, Greg McGuire, Wayne Jones, Glen Jones, and alternate Kevin England.
Mr. Rylant died Nov. 4 in McKinney.
He was born Oct. 22, 1935 in Emory to Lomon and Maudi Lois (Harvey) Rylant.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Lawanna and Buddy McGuire, Jr. of Nevada; sister, Doris Ross of Kemp; granddaughter, Brandie McGuire of Nevada; grandsons and -daughter-in-law, Jeramey McGuire and Deric and Misty McGuire, all of Nevada; and great-grandson, Brysin McGuire of Nevada.
He was preceded by his mother, Lois Rylant; father, Lomon McGuire, and brother, Jerry Rylant.
Arrangements were under the direction of Allen Funeral Home.

William Young
Funeral services for William Young, 69, of Wylie, were held Nov. 10, 2003, at the First Baptist Church of Sachse. Interment followed in the Kreymer Cemetery.
The Revs. Bill Booher and Billy Harris officiated.
Mr. Young died Nov. 7 in Wylie.
He was born in Royse City and was preceded in death by his wife, Georgia Sue Young; parents, Tom and Hattie Young; and brother, Oscar Young.

Richard H. Jones
Funeral services for Richard H. Jones, 55, of Copeville, were held Nov. 13, 2003, at the Allen Funeral Home Chapel in Wylie. Interment followed in the Copeville Cemetery. The Rev. Clint Bratcher officiated.
Mr. Jones died Nov. 11 in Plano.
He was born Feb. 19, 1948 in Mt. Pleasant to Charlie C. and Opal L. (Smith) Jones. He had retired from the construction business where he was a framer, and he was a member of the First Baptist Church of Copeville.
Survivors include his mother, Opal L. Jones of Copeville; five brothers, Charles Jones of Wylie, Larry Jones, Jack Jones, Jerold Jones and Wayne Jones, all of Copeville; one sister, Barbara K. Payne of Oklahoma City, Okla.; seven nieces; seven nephews; and six great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charles C. Jones; two sisters, Rita J.Bangs and Bonnie S. Riley, and one brother, Michael L. Jones.
