Evelyn R. Long, 90, of 39 North Linden Street Manheim, PA, died unexpectedly of natural causes Sunday afternoon at her home.
Born in Manheim, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Elsie Shenenberger Ruhl .
In 1975 Evelyn retired from Warner-Lambert, now Pfizer Corporation, Lititz in the packaging department after thirteen years of service, previously she was employed in the packaging department for the former Hubley Toy Company, Lancaster.
She was the wife of the late William S. Long, who died in October 1, 1998.
Evelyn was a member of Salem United Methodist Church, Manheim .
She had an interest in horses and traveled to horse shows throughout the state.
Surviving are two brothers, Ivan S. Ruhl and Mervin S. Ruhl both of Manheim. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.
SERVICES: Funeral Services for Evelyn R. Long will be private and at the convenience of the family. There will be no viewing.
INTERMENT: Manheim Fairview Cemetery, Penn Township, PA

LONG, MAYBELLE R. 86, LITITZ
MayBelle R. Long, 86, of 137 Forney Drive, Lititz, died Friday at Luther Acres, Lititz, following a lengthy illness.
Born in Lititz, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Lizzie Eckert Stark.
She was the wife of Robert F. Long and they observed their 61st wedding anniversary in December of last year.
MayBelle worked in the Bookkeeping, Office Management Department for the Animal Trap Company which became Ecko-Wood Stream Corporation, Lititz for 7 years.
She was a member of Trinity Evangelical Congregational Church, Lititz. An avid volunteer for the Red Cross as a "Gray Lady ' for both the Lancaster General Hospital and Conestoga View Lancaster, and volunteered for meals on wheels for the Lititz Area.
Her interests included bird watching, gardening, outdoor work, walking, traveling throughout the United States and Canada.
Surviving in addition to her husband are a son, Robert H. married to Joanne M. Geib Long of Lititz, two grandchildren, one sister, Julia Bear of Lancaster.
She was preceded in death by eight brothers, and three sisters.

MILLER, GLENN R.,73, ELM
Glenn R. Miller, 73, of 645 W. Newport Road, Elm, PA, died May 28, 2003, of natural causes at Pleaseant View Retirement Community, Manheim, PA.
Born in Lancaster, Pa he was the son of the late Homer and Ruby Will Miller.
He was married to R. Diane Miles Miller for 51 years.
He retired in 1992 as a tool and die maker at Graysbill's Machine Shop.
Mr. Miller was a 1947 graduate of Manheim Central High School.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during WW II as a paratrooper, were he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.
He was a member of the Jerusalem United Church of Christ, Penryn, PA.
Mr. Miller was an avid boater and golfer.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons: D. Scott married to Cheryl Miller of Fallsington, PA, Randy L married to Jill Miller of Lititz, five grandchildren, one brother: Steve married to Nancy Miller of Lebanon, and one sister: Fay Sides of Mount Gretna

MYER, MARTHA E., 67, MANHEIM
Martha E. Myer, 67, of 578 West Sun Hill Road, Manheim, PA, died unexpectedly of natural causes Wednesday morning June 18, 2003, at her home.
Born in West Hempfield Township, she was the daughter of Elmer and Susan Strickler Shirk ofManheim.
A homemaker, she was the wife of J. Richard Myer and they observed their 46th weddinganniversary in March of this year.
She was a member of Brethren Bible Study Fellowship of Lancaster County.
Martha was devoted to her family and in the care of her children and grandchildren.
Surviving in addition to her husband and parents are three daughters, Grace E. married to Larry E. Meyer, and Susan L. married to D. Daniel McGlothin all of St. Thomas, PA, and Rachel M.married to Jay W. Bowman of Manheim, 15 grandchildren, and two sisters, Catherine M. married to
David C. Wampler of Chambersburg, PA, Naomi G. married to David L. Fidler of Manheim.
A son, Joseph R. Myer, preceded her in death.

NOLT, HARLAN, M., 75, MACHINIST
Harlan M. Nolt, 75, of 333 North Penryn Road, Manheim, Pa, died unexpectedly Wednesday, May 7, 2003, at Lancaster General Hospital of natural causes.
Born in New Holland, Pa, he was the son of the late Samuel O. and Anna Martin Nolt.
He was married to Bernice Snyder Nolt for six years.
His first wife Anna Sweigart Nolt, she died April 4, 1996.
Harlan retired as a machinist from the former RCA - now Burle Industries.
He also worked on a farm in Lancaster County. Most recently he worked for DHIA as a milk sample collector.
A Member of the Manheim Brethren in Christ Church, he served many years as a Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, and as a Lay Visitor.
He was an officer of the Full Gospel Businessman’s Fellowship International.
Harlan enjoyed visiting with people.
Surviving in addition to his wife are a son: John H. married to Joyce Burkhart Nolt of Lancaster, Pa; Three daughters: Mary Steffy of East Petersburg, Pa, Martha married to Benuel Stoltzfus of Guysville, Ohio, Rachel married to Jeffrey Lingle of Elizabethtown, Pa, 29 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren; Six Sisters: Mabel married to Charles Mellinger of New Holland, Pa, Edna married to Omar Graybill of Terre Hill, Pa, Anna Mary married to Galen Bollinger of Fredericksburg, Pa, Esther married to Jacob Kreider of Kinzers, Pa, Arlene married to Wilbur Hershey of Bethel, Pa, Dorothy married to Elam Blank of Parksburg Pa; Three step-sons: Robert married to Kay Miller of Manheim, Pa, J. Paul married to Donna Miller of Mt. Etna, Pa, Stanley married to Debora Miller of Manheim, Pa; One step-daughter: Ruth Ann married to Phil Martin of Manheim, Pa.
He was preceded in death by a brother: Paul M.

OGLE, OPAL C., 97, MANHEIM
Opal C. Ogle, 97, of Brethren Village, formerly of Danner Home, Manheim, PA, died on May 29, 2003 at Brethren Village of natural causes.
Born in Carroll County Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Earnest W. and Ardena McPeak Gallimore.
Her husband Virgil K. Ogle died in August 1976.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of the Conestoga Valley Church of Christ, Lancaster.
Mrs. Ogle was a member of the Stiegel Roses Sr. Citizens Group, were she enjoyed playing bingo.
Her interests were reading, bible study, writing poetry, bus trips, and family gatherings.
Surviving are two sons: V. Kermit married to Marjory Urquhart Ogle of Manheim, V. Dale married to Sandra LeCalsey Ogle of Lancaster; three daughters: Joye D. Shaffer of Manheim, M. Laverne married to C. Eugene Carpenter of Penryn, Thelma F. Haddad of Lititz; 26 Grandchildren, 27 great Grandchildren, 7 great great Grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by four sisters: Edith Gallimore, Mamie Perry, Lillian Hutton, and Marguerite Winebarger.

ROTH, JAMES, A., 48, MANHEIM
James A. Roth, 48, of 1903 Creek Road, Manheim, PA., died Friday evening at home following a lengthy illness.
Born in Washington D.C. he was the son of John G. and Lois A. Corbett Roth of Manheim.
James worked in the Maintenance Department for Elizabethtown College for the past 18 years continuing until his illness; previous he was a HVAC Mechanic for Hixon Plumbing and Heating, Mount Joy.
He was the husband of Sheree L. Kleinfelter Roth and they observed their 26th wedding anniversary in June of 2002.
James was a member of the Grace Brethren Church of Lititz.
For the past 16 years he served on the summer staff at Camp Conquest located in Denver, PA and presently was on the board of directors of the camp for the past two years.
e was an avid hunter and fisherman; especially bass fishing. His life was his family.
Surviving in addition to his wife and parents are two sons, Corey J. Roth of Lawn, PA., Eric S. Roth at home, one daughter, Kellie E. Roth at home, a brother, Michael E. married to Marnetta Roth of Elizabethtown, and a sister,
Peggy married to Jeff Buckwalter of Mount Joy.

SHELLY, KENNETH, 67, VETERAN
Kenneth K. Shelly, 67, of 61 North Grant Street Manheim, PA., died Tuesday morning at his home following a lengthly illness.
Born in Penryn, PA., he was the son of the late Rufus F. and Margie Keath Shelly.
For over thirty years Ken was employed at the former Raymark Industries, Manheim., retiring in 2001. He was a life long self employed residential painter.
He was a U.S. Army Veteran.
Ken was the husband of Shirley Coleman Shelly and they observed their 45th wedding anniversary on June 8, 2002.
A member of Calvary Church Lancaster.
Ken was known as an excellent Fine Wood Bird Craftsman; he was a member of Ducks Unlimited, the East Coast Decoy Collectors Association, and a member of the Havre de Grace Decoy Museum in Havre de Grace, Maryland.
Other memberships included, National Rifle Association, and Hunter's Rest Hunting Camp in Cameron County, PA.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and bird watching.
Surviving in addition to his wife are three daughters, Debra Ann married to Larry Haldeman of Manheim, Audrey Marie married to Robert Griffin of Middletown, PA., Juliann L. married to Mark Menley of Reading, PA., seven grandchildren.
He was preceeded in death by a sister, Lois Snavely.
SERVICES: Services are at Calvary Church 1051 Landis Valley Road, Lancaster ,Pa 17601
DATE & TIME: Thursday May 29, 2003 at 7:00.
INTERMENT: Interment is private in Penryn Cemetery, Penn Township, Pa.
VIEWING: There will be a public viewing on Wednesday May 28, 2003 at Buch Funeral Home 21 Market Square Manheim, Pa 17545 from 6:30 pm until 8:30 pm and again on Thursday May 29, 2003 at the Church one hour prior to the service.

SNAVELY, EARL, R., 82, FARMER
Earl R. Snavely, 82, of Pleasant View Retirement Community, Manheim, PA and formerly of 564 Mallard Drive, Manheim; died Tuesday evening at the Lancaster General Hospital following a lengthy illness.
Born in Penn Township, he was the son of the late Ammon B. and Amanda Roth Snavely.
For many years he was owner and operator of his own farm in Penn Township, Earl also was employed as a bus driver for Graybill’s Bus Service, Manheim driving school bus for 17 years in the Manheim Central School District. In the Manheim Central School District Earl was also employed as custodian at the former Fairland Elementary School for 12 years.
He was the husband of Miriam Longenecker Hershey Snavely and they observed their 9th wedding anniversary in January of this year; his first wife was Miriam Wolgemuth Snavely who died February 16, 1992.
Earl was a member of the Grace Brethren Church of Lititz; where he served as a former Trustee.
For over 48 years Earl and his family had a popular farm stand on the Fruitville Pike which was known for their cantaloupes.
He enjoyed hunting and was a charter member of the Happy Hunting Club located in Tioga County.
His interests included playing cards, board games and watching the Philadelphia Phillies Baseball Team.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters, Joyce E. Hershey married to Irwin L. Groff of New Holland, Barbara A. married to Dennis E. Weaver of Manheim, a son, James E. married to Kitty Zimmerman Snavely of
Jersey Shore, PA., seven grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and a sister, Irene Groff of Leola, PA.
SERVICES: Funeral services for Earl R. Snavely will take place in the Hoffer Auditorium at Pleasant View Retirement Community, 544 North Penryn Road Manheim, PA.

STRITE, JAMES " JIM " M. , 65, OF LANCASTER
James M. " Jim " Strite, 65, of 711 Royal View Drive, Lancaster, PA., formerly of Manheim, died Thursday evening at Essa Flory Hospice Center, Lancaster, PA., after an illness of several months.
Born in Leitersburg, Maryland he was the son of the late John Menno and Mildred Martin Strite.
For over 31 years Jim worked as a truck driver for New Standard Corporation, Mount Joy, retiring in 1999. Following retirement Jim worked for Saturn Of Lancaster working up until his recent illness.
He was the husband of Martha Sharp Strite and they observed their 38th wedding anniversary in September of 2002.
He was a member of Grace Brethren Church of Rohrerstown. He attended the Grace Brethren Church of Lititz. Jim was devoted to his grandchildren. His interests included Flower Gardening, Traveling, and Southern Gospel Music.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters, Lisa married to Curt McCracken of Lititz, Terri married to Darryl Dull of Manheim, three grandchildren, one brother, Lester married to Wilma Strite of Clear Spring, Maryland, five sisters, Lois Strite of Hagerstown, Maryland, Margaret married to Gerald Halteman, Martha married to Stanley Halteman, and Alice Halteman all of Clear Spring, Maryland, and Grace married to Nelson Eby of Green Castle, PA.
SERVICES: Funeral Services For James M. " Jim " Strite will take place at the Grace Brethren Church of Lititz, 501 West Lincoln Avenue Lititz, PA., on Tuesday June 3rd, at 2:00 PM.

SWEIGART, MAE H., 91, MANHEIM
Mae H. Sweigart, 91, of Lancashire Hall, formerly of 1288 A. West Elizabethtown Road, Manheim, died Friday, June 20, 2003, at Ephrata Community Hospital of natural causes following a brief illness. She had been a resident at Lancashire Hall for almost two years.
Born in Lancaster County, PA, she was the daughter of the late Allen and Katie Hess Geibe.
Her first husband, Arthur Gibble died in 1944. Her second husband, Harvey B. "Bob" Sweigart died in 1996.
Mrs. Sweigart worked for 12 years for the former Noggels Garment Factory, Manheim. After that, she worked for 18 1/2 years for the former Schick Corp., Lancaster retiring in 1973.
She was a member of Ruhl's United Methodist Church, Manheim.
She enjoyed flowers, gardening, collecting owls, and attending local church picnics.
Surviving are a son, Donald E. married to Goldie Fair Gibble, Manheim; a daughter, Dorothy D. Kissinger of Orbesonia, PA; 10 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; and 6 great great grandchildren;

SWEITZER, RAJEAN E., 48, MANHEIM
Rajean E. Sweitzer, 48, of 680 Church Road, Manheim, PA died on Saturday June 21, 2003, at Lancaster General Hospital after a long battle with leukemia.
Born in Lewisburg, PA, she was the daughter of Robert L. and Evelyn VanHorn Neiswender of Elizabethtown, PA.
She was married to Randy G. Sweitzer for 26 years on April 9, 2003.
A 1972 graduate from Palmyra High School, Mrs. Sweitzer was a homemaker most of her life. In her earlier years, she was employed by Colebrook Lingerie and the former Elizabethtown Crippled Children's Hospital until its closing.
She was active as an Emergency Medical Technician and firefighter for the Volunteer Lawn Fire Company. She was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church of Colebrook for over 35 years where she was on the church council and held other leadership positions.
She was also a member of the Penn Laurel Girl Scout Council in the Elizabethtown Neighborhood for over 17 years. Mrs. Sweitzer also volunteered as a troop leader, cookie chair, and enjoyed participating in neighborhood meetings.
She also enjoyed volunteering in the community and the Elizabethtown School District where she was a classroom aid and room mother.
Her hobbies included reading, cross-stitching, crocheting, and making crafts. She also enjoyed camping with the girl scouts and her family, playing Pinochle and traveling on vacation with her family. Her favorite vacation spot was Vermont.
Surviving in addition to her parents and husband are a son, Ryan J. Sweitzer at home; and three daughters, Rachelle J., Renae L., and Raelynn J. Sweitzer, all at home.

WALTZ, ELANORA, 91, FORMERLY OF MANHEIM
Elanora K. Waltz, 91, formerly of Manheim, died Tuesday at United Zion Retirement Community, Lititz, after a long illness.
A homemaker, she helped her husband on their Rapho Township farm. She also provided child care in her home.
Mrs, Waltz was a member of Hernley Mennonite Church, Manheim.
She enjoyed flower gardening, reading and visiting family and friends.
Born in Rapho Township, she was the daughter of the late John W. and Amanda Kready Becker.
Her husband, Amos H. Waltz, died in 1985.
Surviving are two sons, Ardith B., married to Nancy Hummer Waltz, and Gerald B., married to Starr Newman Waltz, both of Manheim; a foster son, Carl B. of Lancaster; two daughters, Evelyn A., married to Albert L. Goss of Pequea, and Dorthy A., married to Carl G. Myer of Lititz; seven grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Rufus K. Becker; and three sisters, Susie K. Wenger, and Fannie K. and Minnie K. Becker.

YINGST, CHESTER M. 85, VETERAN
Chester M. Yingst, 85, of 425 North Duke Street, Lancaster, Pa formerly of 211 East Clay Street, Lancaster, Pa, died of natural causes Saturday, April 12, 2003, at Beverly Manor, Lancaster.
Born in Manheim, Pa he was the son of the late Charles and Mary Markley Yingst.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during WW II, were he received the WW II Victory Medal. He worked for Wiggins Chevrolet, Lancaster as a janitor.
Mr. Yingst was a former member of the Hubley Club, Lancaster and member of Amvets, Lancaster.
He enjoyed walking, fishing, and car racing.
Surviving are a daughter: Linda Floyd, Ephrata, and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sons: Robert and James Yingst.
SERVICES: Funeral Services are private and at the convenience of the family
INTERMENT: Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
