M. Irene Nissley
July 1, 2004
M. Irene Nissley, 79, formerly of Landisville, PA., died Thursday, July 1, 2004 at the Mennonite Home 1520 Harrisburg Pike Lancaster, PA., after a long illness. She had been a resident at the Mennonite Home for the past four years.
Born in East Hempfield Township, she was the daughter of the late Albert R. and Stella R. Witmer Nissley. In 1993 Irene retired from the Sico Oil Company, Mount Joy, where she was employed in the office for fifty years. She was a member of Kauffman’s Mennonite Church, Manheim. Her interests included, vegetable gardening, embroidery, and traveling throughout the United States and Australia.
Surviving are a brother, Hiram W. married to Mary C. Bauman Nissley of Manheim, one sister, D. Virginia Nissley of Lancaster, and five nieces.
A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, July 7, 2004 at 7:00 PM at the Kauffman’s Mennonite Church, 1355 Lancaster Road, Manheim, PA. Interment will be at Kauffman’s Mennonite Cemetery in Manheim, PA. Friends and family may visit with the family immediately following the service at the church.

Jennie S. Root
July 2, 2004
Jennie S. Root, 90, of 11025 Rosemont Drive Rockville, Maryland and formerly of East Petersburg, PA., died Friday, July 2, 2004 at 10718 Potomac Tennis Lane Potomac, Maryland after a brief illness.
Born in Manheim, PA., she was the daughter of the late Alvin and Katie Gibble Shenenberger. She was the wife of the late John S. Root who died on August 6, 2002. Mrs. Root worked at Roots Country Market and Auction Manheim with her late husband who was co-owner for many years. She was a member of Grace Evangelical Congregational Church of East Petersburg and was a member of Women of Grace fellowship group and also played piano at the church. Mrs. Root was a graduate and Class Valedictorian of Manheim High School Class of 1931. She was a charter member of the East Petersburg Hiking Club and was involved in their activities for more than 40 years. Her interests included reading and cross-word puzzles.
Surviving are a daughter Connie married to Harvey Long of Rockville, Maryland, three grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Funeral services from the Buch Funeral Home 21 Market Square Manheim, PA., on Thursday, July 8, 2004 at 12:30 PM with the Reverend Roy W. Howard, officiating. Interment in East Petersburg Mennonite Cemetery East Petersburg, PA., There will be no viewing. Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home on Thursday from 12:00 Noon until the time of the service.

Paul E. Cook
July 5, 2004
Paul E. Cook, 51, of 734 West Newport Road Lititz, Pa., formerly of York, Pa. died Monday evening at Essa Flory Hospice Center Lancaster after a one month illness.
Born in Gettysburg, Pa. he was the son of the late Oren & Lois Rhoades Cook. A graduate of Eastern High School in York, Paul was a transportation manager for Adcock Brothers in Manheim, Pa.
Surviving is his wife Tammy Long Cook, three daughters Megan Cook wife of Jesse Thompson of Greenville, S.C., Wendi Willis of Lititz, Pa., Abby Cook of Greenville, S.C.; and a son Tyler Willis of Lititz, Pa. One granddaughter Yasmen Haines. A sister Charlene wife of Merv Bruckhart of Lititz, Pa. and three brothers Joe husband of Billie Cook, Jeff husband of Lisa Cook and Tim husband of Patti Cook all of Manheim.
Paul was preceded in death by two brothers John Cook and Oren Cook Jr. and by a sister Wanda Horner.
Funeral Services will be Thursday, July 8, 2004 at 3 P.M. from the Buch Funeral Home 21 Market Square Manheim,Pa. with Pastor Steve Stauffer officiating. There will be a viewing at the funeral home from 2-3 P.M. A graveside service will be held Sunday, July 11, 2004 at 2 P.M. from Pine Lawn Cemetery Clinton, South Carolina.

Preston L. Hilton
July 6, 2004
Preston L. “ Flip” Hilton, 57, of 46 Crescent Drive Manheim, PA., died on Tuesday, July 6, 2004 at his home following a lengthy illness.
Born in Manheim, he was the son of Betty Duncan Hilton Gibble of Manheim, and the late Kermit Hilton. For many years Preston worked for Armstrong World Industries Lancaster Plant until his recent illness; previous he worked for over twenty years for the former Raymark Industries Manheim. He was the husband of Linda J. Witman Hilton and they observed their 35th wedding anniversary in February. Flip was a member of the 1961 New Era Junior Midget Baseball Tournament Championship Team. His interests included hunting and playing the guitar.
Surviving in addition to his wife and mother are two sons, Michael K. married to Doris Hilton of Manheim and Daniel L. married to Kimberly Hilton address unknown, three grandsons, and a brother, Curtis Hilton of Manheim.
Funeral services from the Buch Funeral Home 21 Market Square Manheim, PA., on Friday, July 9, 2004 at 10:00AM. Interment in Manheim Fairview Cemetery Penn Township, PA. There will be no viewing. Please omit flowers.

Janet L. Adams
August 4, 2004
Janet L. Adams, 69, of Pinch Pond Campground P.O. Box 447, Manheim, Pa, formerly of Landisville, Pa, died of natural causes on Wednesday, August 4, 2004 at Luther Acres Manor, Lititz, Pa following a brief illness.
Born in Coshocton, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Jon and Gertrude Reed Ruhl. She was married to Lester D. Adams; they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in November 2003. Retired in 1989, she worked as a bank teller for 24 years at the former Mellon Bank, Landisville, Pa. A 1952 graduate of the former Annville High School, she enjoyed traveling.
Surviving in addition to her husband are two daughters: Kerry L. married to David A. Kelsey of Manheim, Pa and Kay L. married to married to Kevin P. Eshleman of Manheim, Pa; 5 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; and a sister: Jean married to James Hartman of Lebanon, Pa. She was preceded in death by a sister: Joyce Reber.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, August 9, 2004 at 11:00 am at the Buch Funeral Home 21 Market Sq. Manheim, Pa. Interment in Salunga Mennonite Cemetery, East Hempfield Twp.,Pa. There will be no public viewing however friends may visit with the family on Monday at the Buch Funeral Home from 10:00 am until the time of service.

Raymond H. Myers Sr.
October 2, 2004
Raymond H. “ Buzz” Myers Sr., 57, of Manheim, PA., died Saturday evening October 2, 2004 at the Essa Flory Hospice Center Lancaster following a lengthy illness.
Born in Manheim he was the son of the late John and Gertrude Eckert Myers. For nine years “Buzz “ worked for Bud’s Springs and Suspension Lancaster, previous he worked for Stiegel Castings Manheim for four years and as a welder for the Fuller Company Manheim for twenty-one years. He was the husband of Elizabeth A. Fierstein Myers and they observed their 39th wedding anniversary in February of this year. He was a lifetime member of the Lanco Micro-Midget Club and raced during the 1970’s at the Clyde Martin Memorial Speedway in Brickerville. An avid NASCAR fan he also enjoyed working on all types of cars. Buzz enjoyed spending time with his granddaughter.
Surviving in addition to his wife is a son, Raymond H. “ Butch “ Jr. fiancé of Angela R. Ruhl Myers of Manheim, a daughter, Jodi L. fiancée of Adrian Shaffer of Mount Wolf, a granddaughter, Brianna Marie Myers, three brothers, Jay husband of Anne Myers of Mount Joy, Arlington husband of Rachel Myers of Lititz, and Gerald Myers of Manheim, two sisters, Audrey Enck of Manheim, Perma Ellmaker of Lebanon, and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Jack Myers, and Norman Lentz, and one sister Nadine Fink.
Graveside service from St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery New Holland Avenue Lancaster, on Wednesday, October 6, 2004 at 3:00PM. There will be a viewing at the Buch Funeral Home 21 Market Square Manheim, PA., on Tuesday evening from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM.

Ethel A. Miller
October 6, 2004
Ethel A. Miller, 79, formerly of 20 Penn Avenue Manheim, Pa. died Wednesday, October 6, 2004 at Manor Care Lebanon, Pa. where she has resided for 3 years.
Born in Rapho Township, Pa. she was the daughter of the late Harry & Mabel Ruhl Alleman. She was the wife of the late George F. Miller who died March 2, 1993. A homemaker Ethel was a member of Ruhl’s United Methodist Church Manheim. For over 16 years Ethel helped to raise a total of 78 foster children for the Children and Youth Agency of Lancaster. In 1973 she was awarded the Woman of The Year Award by the Lancaster Quota Club.
Surviving is a daughter Sheila D. wife of Terry D. Wise of Manheim, two sons George E. husband of May M. Sourbeer Miller of Fredericksburg, Pa., Harry E. husband of Darlene D. Derr Miller of Lititz. 7 Grandchildren, 4 Great Grandchildren, a sister Elaine wife of Hen Sweigart of Manheim, a brother Lester husband of Mildred Alleman of Manheim.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, October 11, 2004 at 2 P.M. from Ruhl’s United Methodist Church 410 West Elizabethtown Road Manheim, Pa. with Pastor Robert Timlin and Pastor Randy Leitzel officiating. Interment in the adjoining church cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Monday from 1:00 – 2:00 P.M.

Anna M. Risser
October 7, 2004
Anna M. Risser, 64, of 125 B Chestnut Street Lititz, PA., died Thursday October 7, 2004 at the Essa Flory Hospice Center Lancaster after a brief illness.
Born in Harrisburg, she was the daughter of the late Becker and Thelma Murray Fluss. Anna retired in 2001 after working fifteen years for Sechan Electronics Lititz. She was the wife of Stephen S. Risser and they observed their twenty-third wedding anniversary in August of this year. An avid camper, Anna traveled extensively throughout the East Coast of the United States with her husband. Other interests included crocheting and spending time with her Australian parrot named Pete.
Surviving in addition to her husband are three daughters, Georganna L. wife of Donald Campbell of Maytown, Christine H. Prue of Lancaster, Raquel L. wife of Pat Gallagher of Lancaster, a son, Don C. husband of Veronica Risser of Maytown, nine grandchildren, and a brother, William A. husband of Mary Fluss of Newburg. She was preceded in death by a sister, Joanne Cruz.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. There will be no viewing.

Leroy S. Brubaker
October 11, 2004
Leroy S. Brubaker, 84, formerly of 246 West High Street Manheim, died Monday, October 11, 2004 at Pleasant View Retirement Community, Manheim following a brief illness
. Born in Rapho Township, he was the son of the late Roy G. and Emma Sharp Brubaker. For over forty years Leroy worked as a mechanic and tow truck operator for the J. Harold Merkey Chrysler-Plymouth Dealership, Manheim. He was the husband of the late Esther G. Ober Brubaker who died in 1997. He was a member of Elizabethtown United Zion Church. He enjoyed camping.
Surviving like a foster daughter, Dona F. Moyer of Manheim, two sisters, Eva wife of Aaron Heisey of Centre Hall, Emma Ruth Greenly of Manheim, three brothers, Marlin husband of Stella Kreider Brubaker of Mount Joy, Arthur husband of Doris Achey Brubaker of Manheim, and Henry husband of Naomi Sunday Brubaker of Manheim.
Funeral service from the Hoffer Auditorium at Pleasant View Retirement Community 544 North Penryn Road, Manheim, PA., on Thursday, October 14, 2004 at 10:00AM. Interment in Henry Eberle Cemetery Mount Joy. There will be a viewing from the Hoffer Auditorium on Thursday morning from 9:00AM until the time of the service.

Ethel E. Barnes

Ethel E. Barnes, 84, formerly of 208 West Elizabethtown Road Manheim, Pa. passed away Tuesday at the Denver Nursing Home Stevens, Pa. where she had resided for over 2 years.
Born in Rapho Twp. she was the daughter of the late Oliver & Mabel Saylor Ruhl. She was the widow of Samuel H. Barnes who died February 25, 1999. A homemaker and accomplished seamstress she was a 72 year member of Ruhl’s United Methodist Church in Manheim. Earlier in her life she had been a member of the choir and sewing circle. Family and friends remember her love of her poodle “Susie”.
Surviving is a son Glen W. husband of Miriam Scheirer Barnes of Ephrata. Two step grandchildren and three step great grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters Arlene Ecenrode and Grace wife of Victor Witmeyer both of Manheim. She was predeceased by two sisters Verna Fink and Alverta Tome and by a brother Chester Ruhl.
Funeral Services will be Friday, October 15, 2004 at 11:00 A.M. from the Buch Funeral Home 21 Market Square Manheim,Pa. with Pastor Randy C. Leitzel officiating. Interment in Ruhl’s United Methodist Church Cemetery Rapho Twp.,Pa. Friends may call at the Buch Funeral Home on Friday from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M.
