Ronald D. Gall
Ronald D. Gall of Three Lakes, formerly of Sheboygan Falls, died Saturday, July 19, 2003, at Saint Mary's Hospital in Rhinelander. He was 67.
Mr. Gall was born June 12, 1936, in Sheboygan Falls and was a founding and charter member of the Sheboygan Falls Jaycees and a past board member of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers. He was a member and past board member of Three Lakes Evangelical Free Church.
He married JoAnn Wingert Dec. 7, 1963, in Sheboygan Falls.
Mr. Gall was preceded in death by a daughter, Jill Ann.
In addition to his wife, survivors include two sons, Tim of Sheboygan and James of Three Lakes; a sister, Enid (Keith) McGlade of Sheboygan Falls; three grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
He is further survived by nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, July 24, at Three Lakes Evangelical Free Church. The Rev. Richard Jacobsen will officiate.
Interment will be in Pardeeville.
Memorials may be made to Three Lakes Evangelical Free Church or the American Cancer Society, Oneida County Chapter.

Thomas Gay
Thomas Gay of Three Lakes died Saturday, July 12, 2003, in Three Lakes. He was 85.
Mr. Gay was born Aug. 28, 1917, in Jamestown, N.D., the son of James and Katherine (nee Schwaderer) Gay.
He served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II as a second lieutenant.
Mr. Gay was employed by United Airlines for more than 30 years in customer service before retiring in 1979.
He moved to the Three Lakes area in 1982 and was a member of the Three Lakes Lions Club.
He was a master gardener and his hobbies included hunting and playing golf.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Carol, in 1996.
Survivors include two daughters, Kathryn (Don) Fancher of Three Lakes and Marilyn (John) Breidster of Wauwatosa; four sons, Robert of Germantown, Richard (Marcie) of Rochester, Thomas (LeAnn) of San Diego, Calif., and Scott of Minneapolis, Minn.; and nine grandchildren.
A private family service was held.
A memorial will be established in his name at Demmer Memorial Library in Three Lakes.

William Carl 'Bill' Levihn
William Carl “Bill” Levihn of Sayner died Thursday, July 17, 2003, at his home. He was 71.
Mr. Levihn was born Dec. 4, 1931, in Indianapolis, Ind., the son of Carol and Hilda Levihn.
A 1949 graduate of Beloit High School, he received an undergraduate degree in agriculture from UW-Madison in 1954.
After serving in the U.S. Army for two years, he attended Marquette University where he earned a master of science degree in orthodontics.
He married Dena McCauley of Beloit Oct. 29, 1960.
Mr. Levihn practiced orthodontics from 1966 to 2000 in Madison and Lodi. He served as president of the Wisconsin Society of Orthodontics in 1991 and 1992.
He was an avid outdoorsman, athlete, pilot and Badger fan. He was a longtime member of both Immanuel Lutheran Church in Madison and Shepherd of the Lakes Lutheran Church in Sayner.
In 2000, he traveled to Tanzania with a church group to help build a library.
In addition to his wife, survivors include a daughter, Lynne (Brian) Henderson of Milwaukee; two sons, Scott and Kurt, both of Manitowoc; five brothers, Paul (Nancy) of Boise, Idaho, Richard (Jac) of Janesville, Henry (Beverly) of St. Germain and Naples, Fla., John (Jean) of Oconomowoc and Arnold (Nancy) of Louisville, Colo.; and two granddaughters.
He is further survived by numerous relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Madison from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday, July 24, with a funeral service to follow. The Revs. David Susan and Dorothy Lindstrom will officiate.
A memorial service will be held at Shepherd of the Lakes Lutheran Church in Sayner Sunday, July 27, at 3 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Campus Crusade for Christ, 732 N. Midvale Blvd., Madison, WI 53705.

Dorothy M. Leystra Reddeman
Dorothy M. Leystra Reddeman of Randolph, formerly of Portage and Eagle River, died Tuesday, July 15, 2003, at Continental Manor in Randolph. She was 82.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband and one infant grandson.
Survivors include her husband, Larry of Randolph; one daughter, Gretchen (Terry) Tryggeseth of Eagle River; four sons, Frederick (Helen) of Markesan, Robert (Yvonne Livingston) of Randolph, Richard (Nancy) and Daniel, both of Mayville; two sisters, Suzanne (John) Peterson of Modesto, Calif., and Johanna (Frederick) Schmidt of Zelwood, Fla.; two stepdaughters, Karen (Art) Beischel of Waterford and Linda (David) Leidy of Colorado Springs, Colo.; 12 grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A funeral service was held July 18 at Friesland Reformed Church with the Rev. Mark Starr officiating.
Burial was in Friesland Cemetery.

Mary Margaret Russell
Mary Margaret Russell, formerly of Hurley and Eagle River, died Monday, July 14, 2003, in La Grange, Ill. She was 75.
Mrs. Russell was born March 12, 1928, in Bessemer, Mich., the daughter of Bernard and Elizabeth (nee Baker) Patritto. She attended local schools and graduated in 1946 from J.E. Murphy High School in Hurley.
After high school, she moved to Chicago, Ill., where she worked at O'Connell's Restaurant and Pizzeria Duo.
She married Minor Russell Jan. 15, 1951, in Chicago and, with her husband, owned and operated M&R Tap in Chicago for 11 years.
After vacationing in Eagle River for many years, they purchased The Pasta Cottage, operating it from 1981 to 1996.
In addition to her husband, Minor of Aurora, survivors include two daughters, Kimberley (Steve) Russell-Levine of Iron Mountain, Mich., and Barbara (Steve) Zelms of Eagle River; one brother, Bernard (Ardith) Patritto of Ironwood, Mich.; two sisters, Barbara Alexandroni of Ironwood, Mich., and Catherine (Leslie) Carlstrom of Hurley; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She is further survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, July 26, at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hurley. The Rev. Robert O'Connell and Deacon Russell Lundgren will officiate.
Visitation will precede the service from 9 to 10 a.m.

Frances Ann Benson
Frances Ann Benson, a longtime resident of Phelps, died Sunday, July 20, 2003, at Valhaven Nursing Home in Neenah. She was 86.
Mrs. Benson was born Aug. 4, 1916, in Sturgeon Bay.
She was a homemaker for most of her life and was active at Phelps Senior Center.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John; a daughter, Patsy Ehmann of Houston, Texas; a sister, Louise Ray of Bergland, Mich.; and a brother, George Wierichs of Conover.
Survivors include a son, Donald (Donna) of Neenah; four sisters, Anna (Bill) Oerichbauer and Genevieve Mayo, both of Eagle River, Ruth Blaisdell of Boulder Junction and Elizabeth Wiegel of Marathon; two brothers, Louis (Harriet) Wierichs and James Wierichs; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She is further survived by nieces and nephews.
A funeral service was held July 24 at Twin Lakes Bible Church in Phelps.
Burial was in Phelps Cemetery.

Gene Duane 'Tiny' Culver
Gene Duane “Tiny” Culver of Nelma died Tuesday, July 22, 2003, at Lillian E. Kerr Nursing Care and Rehabilitation Center in Phelps. He was 65.
Mr. Culver was born March 19, 1938, in Nelma.
He was a long-haul truck driver since he was 16 and a member of the Truckers Union.
His hobbies included hunting and fishing, playing cribbage and listening to bluegrass music.
He was preceded in death by his father, Edward; a son, Alvin; and a sister, Alta Mae.
Survivors include his mother, Edna of Phelps; four daughters, Janet (Michael) Carson of Elk, Wash., Sherri Haskins of Spokane, Wash., Jane (Digger) Nordine of Bruce Crossing, Mich., and Cara of Eagle River; a son, Kurt of Eagle River; three brothers, Dean (Lila) of Eagle River, Roger (Donna) of Kenosha and Alton of Nelma; and four grandchildren.
He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
A funeral service was held July 25 at Pentacostal Church of God in Alvin. The Rev. Herman Spencer officiated.
Inurnment took place at Alpha Crematory in Eagle River.

Julius Gacke
Julius Gacke of Eagle River died Tuesday, July 22, 2003, at Howard Young Medical Center in Woodruff. He was 98.
Mr. Gacke was born March 23, 1905, in Cook County, Ill.
A former resident of Marathon, he lived in Eagle River since 1963.
Mr. Gacke was a WPA-licensed blaster and farmer.
He was an avid hunter, fisherman and woodsman.
Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Verna; a daughter, Jean (Elmer) Wolff of Eagle River; five sons, Leonard (Virginia), Vernon (Dorothy) and Edward (Frances), all of Eagle River, Arthur (Bonnie) of Marathon and David (Wanda) of Downers Grove, Ill.; a sister, Lillian Yaskowski of Largo, Fla.; 11 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.
A family prayer service was held July 25 at Gaffney-Busha Funeral Home in Eagle River.
Burial was in St. Peter's Cemetery in Eagle River.

Robert J. Grigas
Robert J. Grigas of Evergreen Park, Ill., and Three Lakes died Thursday, July 24, 2003, at Brentwood Nursing Home in Burbank, Ill. He was 75.
Mr. Grigas served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and was a member of Hagamann Post 495 American Legion.
He retired from the Bureau of Electricity in Chicago, Ill., as an electrical engineer.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Patricia (nee Sexton); one daughter, Christine (Thomas) Norton; one son, Daniel (Jean); and seven grandchildren.
A funeral service was held July 28 at Sacred Heart Church in Chicago, Ill.
Interment was private.
Memorials may be sent to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1905.

Robert 'Bob' Spangler, DDS
Robert “Bob” Spangler, DDS, of Palm City, Fla., a summer resident of Phelps, died Thursday, July 24, 2003, at Lillian E. Kerr Nursing Care and Rehabilitation Center in Phelps. He was 86.
Dr. Spangler was born Dec. 8, 1916, in York, Pa.
A 1939 graduate of Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster, Pa., he earned his dentistry degree from Temple University in Philadelphia.
He served as a dentist in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Dr. Spangler specialized in children's dentistry, and retired after 43 years as a dentist in York, Pa.
He was a lifelong competitive swimmer.
Dr. Spangler was preceded in death by his first wife, Muriel, in 1992; a son, Robie, in 1963; and a son, David, in 1991.
Survivors include his wife, Ann Rowe of Palm City, Fla.; two daughters, Barbara (Paul) Roark of Franklin and Marilyn (Charles) Ruklick of Northbrook, Ill.; one son, John of Phelps; and four grandchildren.
A private funeral service was held.
Memorials may be made to the YMCA.

Thelma Mae Stafford
Thelma Mae Stafford of Eagle River died Saturday, July 26, 2003, at Lillian E. Kerr Nursing Care and Rehabilitation Center in Phelps. She was 96.
Mrs. Stafford was born Oct. 8, 1906, in Eagle River, the daughter of Louis and Edith Morgan.
She graduated from Eagle River High School in 1924 and Milwaukee Teachers College in 1926. She also attended Nicollet Vocational School in Minneapolis, Minn., and earned a degree in fictional writing from the Famous Writers School in Westport, Conn., in 1970.
A kindergarten teacher in Laona for two years, Mrs. Stafford became a telephone operator and later a supervisor for Wisconsin Telephone Co. in Portage, Edgerton, Monroe and Milwaukee.
She lived in Louisiana, New Mexico, Utah and California as well as overseas while her husband was serving in the U.S. Army.
She was employed by Western Electric Co. in Denver, New York City and Minneapolis. After retiring in 1969, she returned to Eagle River.
Mrs. Stafford was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Harold, Larry, Francis and Donald; a sister, Helen Hayner; and two nephews.
Survivors include nieces, nephews and other relatives.
A private service was held.

David S. Umbach
David S. Umbach of Manitowish Waters died Tuesday, July 22, 2003, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield. He was 44.
Survivors include his wife, Teresa; two daughters, Kirsten and Rachel; one son, Adam; his mother, Alice of Barrington, Ill.; two brothers, Scott and Mark; and his mother- and father-in-law, Jeanne and Dennis Bergren of Park Rapids, Minn.
He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A memorial service was held July 26 at Manitowish Waters Community Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested.

Jack W. Adams
Jack W. Adams of St. Germain died Saturday, Jan. 17, 2004, at Columbia-St. Mary's Hospice in Milwaukee. He was 74.
Mr. Adams was born Sept. 13, 1929, in Milwaukee. He married Margaret Mary Genske June 1, 1949.
He was employed by Wisconsin Bell for 40 years. Upon retirement, he and his wife moved to St. Germain in 1986.
He was a member of the Telephone Company Pioneers for more than 50 years, and was honored by the Eagle River Memorial Hospital Auxiliary for providing North Woods residents with emergency response systems. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus.
He was an avid Green Bay Packers fan and his hobbies included camping, fishing and other outdoor activities.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years; and one son, Paul.
Survivors include eight daughters, Margaret (Bill) Solberg, Susan (Steve) Haas, Barbara (Scott) Blaeske, Mary Jo (Scott) Smith, Nancy (Bryce) Bird, Ann (Jeff) Miller, Kathy (Todd) Peschke and Jane (Dave) Gross; six sons, John (Sally), Joe (Jane), Tom (Nancy), Tim (Mary), Peter (Jalane) and Patrick (Kris); two sisters, Audrey (Joe) Keppert and Doris (Walter) Schmidt; one brother, Jerome (Chris); 39 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Jan. 24, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Wauwatosa. The Rev. Jerome Hudziak will officiate.
Interment will take place in St. Germain at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. Mary's Catholic Church building fund in Sayner.
