Rita Bavin
Rita Bavin, 94, Defiance, died Thursday morning in Laurels of Defiance.
She was born May 21, 1906, in Williams County's Springfield Township, the daughter of James and Jessie (Scammon) Sage. She married Ray Bavin, who died in 1956. She was a retired teacher and a member of Evansport United Methodist Church and its United Methodist Women.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. David (Judy) Jimenez, Defiance; and three grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.
Also preceding her in death were two brothers and a sister.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Grisier Funeral Home, Stryker, with Rev. Melvin Peter officiating. Visitation is from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. today.
Preferred memorials are to the church or a charity of the donor's choice.

Florence Moser
Florence A. Moser, 90, Defiance, died at 5:55 a.m. Thursday in Laurels of Defiance.
She was born March 15, 1910, in Defiance County, the daughter of Charles and Rose (Jacob) Hoeffel. In 1935, she married Clarence Moser, who died in 1989. She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church and its Altar-Rosary Society, Catholic Ladies of Columbia and 55 Plus Club. She was vice president of Defiance Deanery, an American Red Cross volunteer and served on its board of directors.
Surviving are two sons, Robert of Defiance and Willis, Apache Junction, Ariz.; two sisters, Leona Wisda and Mrs. Howard (Rita) Shock, both of Defiance; and seven grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.
Also preceding her in death were five sisters, Madonna Simonis, Katherine Miller, Donelda Schindler, Sister M. Firma and Gertrude Simonis; and two brothers, Leo and Aloysius Hoeffel.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in the church with Father David Tscherne officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation is from 2-9 p.m. Sunday at Lawson-Roessner Funeral Home with a vigil service at 7:30 p.m.
Preferred memorials are to masses or a charity of the donor's choice.

Eugene Burt
Eugene R. Burt, 66, Defiance, died at 8:10 p.m. Wednesday in Leisure Oaks Convalescent Center.
He was born Aug. 19, 1934, in Defiance, the son of Richard and Levia (Ball) Burt. In 1957, he married Beverly Fiig, who died in 2000. A U.S. Marine Corps veteran, he served during the Korean Conflict. He was a commercial painter for 30 years, retiring in 1990, a boxing coach, past president of Lima Local 1020 and Al-Van CB Club and a member of Graham-Hancock-Love AMVETS Post 1991.
Surviving are a son, William, Joliet, Ill.; a brother, Richard, Lubbock, Texas; a sister, Janet Elliot, Defiance; and three grandchildren.
Also preceding him in death were his parents; and a sister, Geraldine.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Mast-Mock-Hoffman Funeral Home with Rev. Paul Myers officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery with military rites conducted by VFW Post 3360. Visitation is from 2-9 p.m. Sunday with an AMVETS service at 7:30 p.m.
Preferred memorials are to the family.

G. Grant Brown
BRYAN - G. Grant Brown, 90, Bryan, died Wednesday morning in Community Hospital Williams County-Bryan.
He was born Oct. 11, 1910, in Pioneer, the son of George and Lottie (Slough) Brown. He married Kathryn Long, who survives. He worked for Kroger Co., Citizens National Bank and was the owner and operator of Brownie's, Bryan, from 1946-75, when he retired. A World War II U.S. Army veteran, he started the Norlick Place development in 1969, served on Bryan Chamber of Commerce committees and was a former city councilman and Williams County commissioner. He was active with Maumee Valley Guidance Center, a board member and president of Bryan Community Hospital and a member of Rotary, YWCA/Faber Committee, Bryan VFW post, Moose Lodge 1064 and American Legion Post 284, Wesley United Methodist Church and its service club and Bryan Masons. He was also a charter member of Bryan Area Foundation and recipient of Bryan Area Foundation Howard C. and Mary Allene Hawk Good Citizen award in 1985.
Also surviving are two sons, George and Dave, both of Bryan; two daughters, Mrs. Jim (K. Beth) Roberts of Alexandria, Va., and Mrs. Jerry (Bettina) Grandey, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada; a sister, Charlene Marquis, Indianapolis; and nine grandchildren and a great-grandson.
Preceding him in death were a brother, Lowell; and a sister, Gertrude Geesey. Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in the church with Rev. David David officiating. Burial will be in Fountain Grove Cemetery, Bryan. Visitation is from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. today in Oberlin-Ford Funeral Home, Bryan, and after 11 a.m. Saturday at the church.
Preferred memorials are to the church or Bryan Area Foundation.

Lloyd Wulff
LIBERTY CENTER - Lloyd E. Wulff, 74, Liberty Center, died Thursday morning at Medical College of Ohio Hospital, Toledo.
He was born June 17, 1926, in Henry County's Liberty Township, the son of Earl and Grace (Galbraith) Wulff. He was a retired farmer and worked for 13 years at Fred R. Creager & Sons Construction, Liberty Center, retiring in 1967. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Surviving are three brothers, Richard and Eugene, both of Liberty Center, and George, Lyons.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Walker Mortuary, Napoleon, with Rev. Jim Morehart officiating. Burial will be in Morrison Township Cemetery, Liberty Center, with military rites accorded by Liberty Center's American Legion and VFW posts. Visitation will be one hour prior to services Monday.
Preferred memorials are to Salvation Army or a charity of the donor's choice.

Arlene Herge
NAPOLEON - Arlene M. Herge, 91, Napoleon, died this morning in Northcrest Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Napoleon. Arrangements are pending at Walker Mortuary, Napoleon.

Zeretha Hamman
PAULDING - Zeretha M. Hamman, 86, Paulding, died at 7:40 p.m. Wednesday in Hawthorn Court, Paulding.
She was born Jan. 21, 1914, in Albion, Mich., the daughter of John and Matilda (Spangler) Stemen. In 1935, she married Lawrence Smith, who died in 1948. In 1956, she married Dan Hamman, who died in 1976. She was a sales clerk at Ducat's, a member of Paulding Church of the Nazarene and a volunteer with Paulding County Hospital Auxiliary.
Surviving are a stepson, Robert Hamman, Paulding; and stepgrandchildren, great-stepgrandchildren and great-great-stepgrandchildren.
Also preceding her in death were four stepsons, three brothers, two sisters and a stepgranddaughter.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in the church with Rev. Keith Sarver officiating. Burial will be in Hedges Cemetery, Jackson Township. Visitation is from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. today at Den Herder Funeral Home, Paulding, and one hour prior to services Saturday at the church.
Preferred memorials are to Paulding County Hospital or the church.

Lovis Grimes
PAULDING - Lovis J. Grimes, 80, Paulding, died at 6:45 a.m. Thursday in Hawthorn Court, Paulding. She was the widow of Emery Grimes. Arrangements are pending at Den Herder Funeral Home, Paulding.

Carl Hoch
Carl A. Hoch, 90, Defiance, died at 11 p.m. Friday in Harborside Healthcare.
He was born March 11, 1910, in Rawson, the son of William and Anna (Miller) Hoch. In 1929, he married Mary Wolford, who died in 1981. In 1992, he married Mary Villars, who died in 1995. He was an Episcopal priest, retiring from Grace Episcopal Church, Defiance, in 1975. In 1936 he graduated from United Seminary and in 1947 he graduated from Defiance College and Temple Hall. He served in the U.S. Army Air Force from 1942-45. He served Episcopal churches in several cities, including Leesville from 1936-42; Old Fort/Mt.Carmel in 1942; McClure from 1945-48; Petoskey, Mich., from 1948-54; and Defiance from 1954-1975. He was also a member of Mt. Cory Mason Lodge 418; Royal Arch Chapter 58, Mason Lodge Council 50, and Mason Lodge Commandary 49, all in Findlay; and the Scottish Rite.
Surviving are a son, Melvin Hoch, Defiance; and two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Also preceding him in death was a grandson.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Grace Episcopal Church with Rev. Scott Woodstuff officiating. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Flick Cemetery, Hancock County. Visitation is from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday in Mast-Mock-Hoffman Funeral Home.
Preferred memorials are to the church.

John Flory
John L. Flory, 30, Defiance, died Thursday in his home.
He was born April 1, 1970, in Defiance, the son of Arthur and Barbara (Goebel) Flory. He graduated from Tinora High School. He was a farmer and a member of the Defiance Moose Lodge.
Surviving are his parents, Defiance; two brothers, Troy and Tim, both of Defiance; and a sister Tina, Defiance.
Private services will be held with Rev. Terry Porter officiating. Burial will be in Poplar Ridge Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Mast-Mock-Hoffman Funeral Home is in charge of arrrangements.
Preferred memorials are to a charity of the donor's choice.

Warren Plaster
MARK CENTER - Warren James Plaster, 58, Mark Center, died Wednesday in Medical College of Ohio, Toledo.
He was born Nov. 7, 1942, in Tacoma, Va., the son of James and Evelyn (Holder) Plaster. In 1964, he married Katherine Shepherd, who survives. He was retired from Barlett Tree Service and was a member of Free Will Baptist Church, National Karate Association and the Williams County Conservation Club. He was also a karate teacher.
Also surviving are two daughters, Tammy Bell and Angela Dreher, both of Hicksville; a sister, Virginia Williamson; and 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Brown Funeral Home, Hicksville, with Rev. William Flanary officiating. Burial will be in Forest Home Cemetery, Hicksville. Visitation is after 2 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Monday.
Preferred memorials are to the family.

Arlene Herge
NAPOLEON - Arlene M. Herge, 91, Napoleon, died Friday morning in Northcrest Nursing Home.
She was born Oct. 2, 1909, in Henry County, the daughter of William and Anna (Faber) Westrick. In 1937, she married Donald Herge, who died in 1948. She was employed at Campbell Soup Company for 17 years, retiring in 1974. She was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church and its Altar Society.
Surviving are three sons, John of Montgomery, Ala., Kenneth of Fairborn, and Joseph, Napoleon; a brother, Gilbert Westrick, Napoleon; and five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Also preceding her in death were a brother, Eugene Westrick; and a sister, Cyrilla Robinson.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in the church with Father Patrick Scharf officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation is from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday at Walker Mortuary, Napoleon, where a rosary service will be held at 8:30 p.m.
Preferred memorials are to the church or to a charity of the donor's choice.

Lovis Grimes
PAULDING - Lovis J. Grimes, 80, Paulding, died at 6:45 a.m. Thursday in Hawthorn Court Nursing Home, Paulding.
She was born April 21, 1920, in Paulding County, the daughter of Benjamin and Eva (Reynolds) Keeler. In 1956, she married Emery Grimes, who died in 1992. She was an inspector and packer for 33 years for the former Grizzly Manufacturing, Paulding.
Surviving are nieces and nephews.
Also preceding her in death were two brothers, John and Charles Keeler; and two sisters, Wanda Garmyn and Lela Snellenbarger.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in DenHerder Funeral Home with Rev. Dawn Remster officiating. Burial will be in Wiltsie Cemetery, Harrison Township. Visitation is from 2-6 p.m. today and 8 a.m. until time of services Monday.
Preferred memorials are to the Paulding County Cancer Society or the Paulding County Heart Fund.

Warren Isenbarger
DESHLER - Warren E. Isenbarger, 82, Deshler, died at 12:11 a.m., Saturday in Blanchard Valley Regional Health Center, Findlay.
He was born Nov. 14, 1918, in Jay County, Indiana, the son of Orva and Doris Isenbarger. In 1947, he married Catherine Barrington, who survives. He was a farmer and a truck driver for Dekalb Hybrids and Claude Sintz Inc., Deshler. He was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, the Deshler Lions Club and the Masonic Lodge in Deshler.
Also surviving are a stepson, Shawn Price, Monticello, Ind.; and a stepdaughter, Mrs. Jim (Linda) Davis, Defiance; and five stepgrandchildren and six great-stepgrandchildren.
Preceding him in death were a brother, Richard; and a sister, Ruth Evelyn Quate.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Rodenberger Funeral Home with Pastor Don Krieger officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday.
Preferred memorials are to the church or a charity of the donor's choice.

Anna Studenka
ARCHBOLD - Anna E. Studenka, 85, Archbold, died Saturday morning in Fairlawn Haven.
She was born Aug. 25, 1915, in Paulding County, the daughter of Martin and Elizabeth (Fiala) Kuryvial. In 1936, she married Charles Studenka, who preceded her in death. She was a press operator with Fifty Corporation, Bryan, for 20 years. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Bryan, and its Ladies Rosary and Altar Society. She also attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Hudson, Mich., and was a member of UAW Local, Bryan.
Surviving are three sons, Charles of Kings Mountain, N.C., Robert of Farmington Hills, Mich., and William, Bowling Green; a brother, Martin Kuryvial, Woodhaven, Mich.; and seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Also preceding her in death was a son, James, in infancy.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Patrick Catholic Church with Rev. Father Charles Ritter officiating. Burial will follow in Fountain Grove Cemetery. Visitation is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today at Oberlin-Ford Funeral Home, Bryan.
Preferred memorials are to Fairlawn Haven or National Alzheimer's Foundation.

Emma Rabe
PINCONNING, Mich. - Hamler native Emma D. Rabe, 104, Pinconning, Mich., died Saturday in her daughter's home in Pinconning following a three-year illness.
She was born Dec. 12, 1896, in Hamler, the daughter of Herman and Louise (Imbrock) Meyer. She married Otto Rabe, who died in 1949. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Pinconning.
Surviving are a daughter, Louise Gobrogge, Pinconning; a half sister, Pauline Panning, Deshler; and 11 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren.
Also preceding her in death were two sons, Julius and Harold; a brother, Martin Meyer; a sister, Erna Arps; five stepbrothers; and a stepsister.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church with Pastor William Allmann officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery. Visitation is from 1-9 p.m. Monday at Lee-Ramsay Funeral Home, Pinconning, and from 10 a.m. until the time of services Tuesday at the church.
Preferred memorials are to the church.

William Mason
Services for William S. Mason were held Saturday at Mast-Mock-Hoffman Funeral Home with Rev. Suzanne Allen officiating. Burial was in Riverview Memory Gardens. Pallbearers were Aaron and Bill Mason, Kevin Hurst, Brad Fisher, Brian Barratt, and Leslie Butler.

William Corwin
Services for William O. Corwin were held Saturday at Mast-Mock-Hoffman Funeral Home with Rev. Bryan Maxey officiating. Burial was in Riverview Memory Gardens, with graveside military rites accorded by VFW 3360. Pallbearers were Wayne Crane, Tom Bowling, Robert Diamond, Donald Miller, Art Hoellrich, Stanley Pollock, Don Heilshorn and Ned Prucha.

Robert Porter
Services for Robert M. Porter were held Friday at Mast-Mock-Hoffman Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Cole officiating. Burial was in Sherwood Cemetery, with graveside military rites accorded by VFW 3360. Pallbearers were Dale and David Clark, Jerry Smith, Kevin Baxter, Charles Kingshirn and Mike Porter.
