BEVERLY BILLS
HOWARD - Beverly Bills, 49, of Howard, passed on peacefully Thursday (Oct. 18, 2001) at Strong Memorial Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.
Beverly was born Jan. 11, 1952 in Bath, the daughter of Bernard and Rosella (Robords) Sullivan.
She resided in the Howard area most of her life. She was employed for 26 years at the Steuben County Health Care Facility in Bath. Beverly graduated from Avoca Central School in 1970, and was a member of the Howard Union Church.
Her favorite pastime was sewing and creating new craft ideas for her family.
She is survived by her daughters, Angela Bills of Bath and Carla (Paul) Chace of Canisteo; her son, Timothy Bills of Howard; her brothers, CB (Mary Jo) Sullivan of Howard, Richard (Cathy) Sullivan of Walter Hill, Tenn. and Bill (Tammy) Sullivan of Avoca; her sisters, Cynthia (Pat) Sullivan of Avoca and Bonnie (Bill) Sullivan of Avoca; several nieces and nephews; and her step-children, Wanda Burleson of Savona and Chenelle Bills of Florida.
She is predeceased by her parents, Bernard in 1987 and Rosella in 1996, and also her brother, James in 1972 and Jack in 1999.
Calling hours are being observed Saturday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Bond-Davis Funeral Home of Bath. Funeral services will be held Sunday at the Howard Union Church at 2 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Huntington's Disease Society of America, Chapter 2-1, 390 Pearl St., Rochester, N.Y. 14622 or a charity of your choice in Beverly's memory.

MARION B. "PAT" COLLINS
HORNELL - Marion B. "Pat" Collins, 93, formerly of Canisteo, died Tuesday (Oct. 16, 2001) in Colorado Springs, Colo., where she has resided for the past nine years.
Born in Roswell, N.M. on May 19, 1908, she was the daughter of Richard and Eleanor (Stivers) Patrick.
She was married in 1928 to Flurenz "Tom" Collins, who died in 1968. She was also preceded in death by her son, Richard "Rick" Collins, who died in 1999.
Marion resided in Canisteo for many years. She, along with her husband, owned and operated Tom Collins Photography in Hornell for many years.
Surviving are her daughter-in-law, Catherine Collins of Trinity, Fla.; two grandsons, Richard B. Collins II of Dunn Loring, Va. and Christopher B. Collins of New York City; and one great-granddaughter, Olivia L. Collins.
There will be no prior calling hours. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday at St. Mary's Cemetery.
Funeral arrangements are in care of the Dagon Funeral Home, 38 Church St., Hornell.

JOHN THOMAS CANTY SR.
ZEPHYRHILLS, Fla. - John Thomas Canty Sr., 78, formerly of Hornell, died Saturday (Oct. 13, 2001).
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Jo Ann McFall, formerly of Canisteo, now in Zephyrhills, Fla.; three sons, John Jr., Michael and Richard; six daughters, Susan Bastedo, Donna Canty, Jill Appel, Patricia Canty, Robin Bowers and Ruth Blake; nine grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; one brother, Gerald Canty; and four sisters, Vivian Harring, Patricia Curran, Nancy Douglas and Shirley Bettinger.
Arrangements are with the National Cremation Society in Tampa, Fla.

MARJORIE R. FINCH BECKER
DANSVILLE - Marjorie R. Finch Becker, 81, of Ormond Beach, Fla., passed away Monday afternoon (Sept. 24, 2001) at her home in Florida.
She was born in Maryland, N.Y. on Oct. 19, 1919, a daughter of the late Ray and Ruth Vaisey Finch. On July 24, 1948, she was married to John R. Becker, who survives.
Marjorie was a graduate of Dansville High School and later Rochester Business Institute. She was a former employee of Foster Wheeler Energy Corp. of Dansville and Stone Conveyer of Honeoye. Marjorie was also a former member of the Dansville Presbyterian Church.
Surviving in addition to her husband, John, are her son, Larry Becker and her daughter, Debby (Scott) Smith, both of Ormond Beach; a brother, Charles (Peggy) Finch of Mount Holly Springs, Pa.; her sister, Elsie (Austin) Hartmann of Dansville; her grandchildren, David Becker USAF of Alaska, Kelly and Sara Taylor of Ormond Beach; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call Friday from 10:30-11 a.m. in the Dansville Presbyterian Church McKee Parlor. A memorial service will follow at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Alice Hartmann officiating. Interment will be in Greenmount Cemetery, Dansville.
Arrangements are by the Hindle Funeral Home, 271 Main St., Dansville

CONSTANCE E. "CONNIE" GORE
JAMESTOWN - Constance E. "Connie" Gore, 82, of 33 Lovall Ave., formerly of Hornell, died Wednesday (Oct. 17, 2001) in her home. She was born June 26, 1919 in Matamoras, Pa., a daughter of William and Edith Jones Middaugh.
A 1936 graduate of Matamoras High School, she was a member of their girls' championship basketball team. In earlier years, she was employed by the former Art Metal Corp. and was a member of the former Epworth United Methodist Church.
She was an avid gardener, enjoyed knitting, crocheting and cooking for her family. She was especially close to her son-in-law, John Stravato and grandson-in-law, Steven Heath. She will be remembered for her love of animals.
Surviving are her husband of 63 years, Francis Gore; a daughter, Sally Stravato of Jamestown; and a granddaughter, Stephanie Heath of Jamestown.
She was preceded in death by a brother, William Middaugh.
A funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the Lind Funeral Home, 805 West 3rd St., Jamestown, with Rev. Samuel Scheffler of Heritage Village Chaplain officiating. Friends will be received from 7-9 p.m. Friday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery.

DENNIS R. PAYNE
WOODHULL - Dennis R. Payne, 53, of 361 County Route 103, Woodhull, passed away Tuesday (Oct. 16, 2001) at Robert Packer Hospital, Sayre, Pa.
Born in the town of Troupsburg Jan. 8, 1948, he was the son of John R. and Gertrude M. Potter Payne.
Dennis was a graduate of Troupsburg Central School and was a member of the United Methodist Church of Austinburg, Pa.
He was a life-long dairy farmer.
He married Linda J. Cary on April 5, 1975, she survives.
Also surviving are his daughters, Rebecca A. Payne of Arkport and Kimberly Payne at home; his mother, Gertrude M. Hackett of Elkland, Pa.; his brother and sister-in-law, John and Sue Payne of Arcade; and aunts and several cousins.
Friends may call Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the H.P. Smith & Son, Inc. Funeral Home, 1607 Main St., Woodhull, where funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 11 a.m. Rev. Mark Wade will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Austinburg, Pa.

VIOLET B. SHARRETT
HORNELL - Violet B. Sharrett, 82, formerly of 1 Maple Ridge, Almond, died Monday (Oct. 15, 2001) at Hornell Gardens, where she had resided for over two years.
She was born Dec. 27, 1918 in Hornell, the daughter of Charles and Jennie Coville Bell. She was married Aug. 9, 1942 in Almond to Charles T. Sharrett, who died in 1994. She was predeceased by a sister, Marjorie Wright.
She was a graduate of Buffalo State College and had taught Home Economics at Alfred-Almond Central School and Keshequa Central School in Nunda.
Violet was a member of Almond Union of Churches, 20th Century Club, Almond Senior Citizens, Fortnightly Club, Garden Club and had served on Almond election board for several years.
She also enjoyed gardening and crafts. Violet was a well known seamstress and was remembered for making Alfred-Almond Cheerleaders' uniforms.
Survivors include three sons, John Sharrett of Sherrils Ford, N.C., Stewart (Cherrie) Sharrett of Alfred Station and Thomas (Linda) Sharrett of Almond; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday at Robertson Funeral Home, Inc., Hornell, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, with Rev. Jane Shumway officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Almond.

STEPHEN "STEVE" DENINGER
HORNELL - Stephen "Steve" Deninger, 82, formerly of 19 Main St., Hornell, died Saturday afternoon (Oct. 13, 2001) at Hornell Gardens, where he had resided for the past two years.
Born in Hamden, Conn. on May 12, 1919, he was the son of Stephen and Lucy (Pellert) Deninger. He grew up in the New Haven, Conn. area and had resided in the Hornell area since the late 1950s. Steve was employed for many years as a delivery driver for the former Elmhurst Dairy and later was employed as a baker for Dominic's Bakery in Hornell.
Surviving are three sons, Stephen (Elise) Deninger of Corning, David Deninger of Katy, Texas and Duane (Barbara) Deninger of Fort Worth, Texas; two step-sons, Dennis (Gail) Deninger of Cheshire, Conn. and Kenneth Lewis of Dallas, Texas; one brother, Orville Deninger of Fort Myers, Fla.; one sister, Arline Jasinski of Clinton, Conn.; one step-sister, Emma Kilbourne of Wallingford, Conn.; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The family of Stephen "Steve" Deninger will receive friends on Thursday from 2-4 p.m. at the Dagon Funeral Home, 38 Church St., Hornell, where funeral and committal services will be held at the conclusion of calling hours at 4 p.m., with Rev. Brian Diffenbacher officiating. Burial will be in Rural Cemetery.

LINDA LOU JOHNSTON
HORNELL - Linda Lou Johnston, 54, of 248 Grand St., Hornell, died Monday (Oct. 15, 2001) at McAuley Manor, North Hornell.
Linda was born in Hornell Dec. 13, 1946, the daughter of H. Marcus and Betty (Conklin) Johnston.
Linda enjoyed music and played the accordion and key board. She has composed the music and words to many songs.
She had attended the Canisteo Valley Assembly of God.
Linda was predeceased by her brother, Ricky Johnston in 1968 and her father, H. Marcus Johnston in 1996.
She is survived by her mother, Betty Johnston of Hornell; her brother, David M. (Lori) Johnston of Greentown, Pa.; one niece, Jessica Johnston; and two nephews, Joshua and Jeremy Johnston.
The family will be present on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. to receive friends at the Bender-Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 354 Canisteo St., Hornell. Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Hornell Bible Church, with Rev. Donato Delia and Rev. Richard Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Canisteo.

JOSEPH T. RECHICHI
HORNELL - Joseph T. Rechichi, 65, of 166 East Ave., Hornell, died Sunday evening (Oct. 14, 2001) at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, following a long illness.
Born in West Union on Nov. 7, 1935, he was the son of Joseph and Mary Teresa (Mahoney) Rechichi. He had resided in Hornell for his entire life. He attended Hornell High School and later served in the US Army Reserves.
He was married on Jan. 23, 1960 to the former Joanne McMichael, who survives.
Joe was employed for about 25 years at the former A&P Grocery in Hornell. For about a year, he served as manager of the former Juggies Tavern. He purchased the business in 1980 and changed its name to Joe's Tavern, which he, along with his wife, owned and operated for the next 19 years.
He was a communicant of St. Ann's Church, a member of the Hornell Knights of Columbus, Hornell American Legion, Hornell Elks Lodge, Loyal Order of Moose and Hornell Association.
Joe was a sports enthusiast and an avid New York Yankees and Buffalo Bills fan. He sponsored many local sports teams including slow pitch softball and volleyball leagues. He was instrumental in establishing both the Knights of Columbus and Elks Golf Leagues. He will also be remembered for sponsoring the annual Joe's Tavern Golf Tournament.
Joe was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and brother, who will be sadly missed by his family and many friends.
In addition to his wife, Joanne, survivors include one son, Thomas Rechichi of Hornell; two daughters, Christine (Michael) Yanni of Bath and Mary (Jeff) Reynolds of Hornell; two sisters, Rose Marie (Francis) O'Dell of Arkport and Margaret (Larry) Dunn of Arkport; two brothers, John (Judy) Rechichi of Hornell and James Rechichi of Hornell; five grandchildren, Michael Yanni, Brian Yanni, Tracy Reynolds, Kristi Reynolds and Joseph Reynolds; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
The family of Joseph T. Rechichi will receive friends on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Dagon Funeral Home, 38 Church St., Hornell. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Ann's Church, with burial in St. Mary's Cemetery.
Joe's family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his name be made to the Dialysis Unit of Mercycare, 1 Bethesda Drive, North Hornell, N.Y. 14843. Memorial forms will be available at the Dagon Funeral Home.

MARGARET M. ALVERSON
DANSVILLE - Margaret M. Alverson, 93, of West Avenue, Dansville, died Friday (Oct. 12, 2001) at Noyes Memorial Hospital, after a long illness.
She was the widow of Carlton J. Alverson, who died Oct. 5, 1976.
Margaret was born in Olean, Dec. 4, 1907, the daughter of the late Warren and Mable Austin Richey. She was a communicant of St. Mary's Church and a former member of the Women Of The Moose in Dansville.
She is survived by 10 children, Raymond (Elma) Alverson, William Francis Alverson, Larry (Diane) Alverson and Shirley Slicker, all of Dansville, Richard Alverson of Rio Vista, Calif., Donald (Lynda) Alverson of Wayland, James (Shirley) Alverson, Barbara (William) Chase and Nancy (Robert) Gruno, all of Leesburg, Fla. and Mary Burnett of Hornell; 28 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at the Chamberlin Funeral Home, Inc., 73 Main St., Dansville. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Livingston County Hospice, Mt. Morris, N.Y. 14510 or Noyes Memorial Hospital, Dansville, N.Y. 14437.

VIVIAN W. O'KEEFE
HORNELL - Vivian W. O'Keefe, 87, of 130 Rauber Street, died Saturday (October 13, 2001) in Jones Memorial Hospital in Wellsville.
Born September 20, 1914 in Harrison Valley, Pa., she was a daughter of Floyd and Florence (Kibbe) Steadman. In August of 1941, she married Bernard O'Keefe, who predeceased her on May 27, 1980.
Vivian was a cook in the former Fassett Hotel in Wellsville. Later, she worked for several families in Wellsville, including the Rigasas and the Harts'.
She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Wellsville.
She is survived by a son, Dennis (Judy) O'Keefe of Andover; a daughter, M. Marie O'Keefe of Batavia; 13 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren; four brothers, Richard Steadman of Elkland, Pa., Ronald (Gerry) Steadman of Akron, Ohio, Donald (Rosie) Steadman of Knoxville, Pa., and Robert (Bernice) Steadman of Knoxville, Pa.; two sisters, Arloine (Eugene) Bebe of Knoxville, Pa., and Carol (Durwood) Schriner of Lawrenceville, Pa.; as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by four brothers, Roger, Paul, Virgil and Roswell Steadman; and a sister, Beatrice Steadman.
Friends may call Monday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. in the J.W. Embser Sons Funeral Home in Wellsville, where a prayer service will be held at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in the Immaculate Conception Church. Rev. Joseph Vatter will officiate. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

IRENE H. SUTTERLIN
CUBA/CANASERAGA - Irene H. Sutterlin, 95, died Friday (October 12, 2001).
She was born May 4, 1906 in the Town of Burns to Clifford and Helen Taylor.
She was predeceased by her husband, Frederick. She is survived by two daughters, Doris (Norman) Thomas of Scottsville and Jean (Victor) Cassidy of Belfast; as well as several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Mann Funeral Home in Canaseraga Monday from 2-4 p.m., with funeral services immediately following with Rev. Jess Flint officiating. Burial will be in Canaseraga Cemetery.
