Violet Freberg
IRON MOUNTAIN — Violet E. Freberg, 91, of Deerfield, Ill., died Friday, June 22, 2001, at the Wealshire Nursing Home in Lincolnshire, Ill.
Vi was born November 1909, in Iron Mountain, daughter of the late Frank and Freda Larson. She attended the Iron Mountain schools and then moved to Highland Park, Ill., and worked in the Highland Park Hospital.
Vi met and married Frank E. Freberg in Highland Park. He preceded her in death in 1956.
She was also preceded in death by a son, George, and a grandson, Frank E. Carr; and three brothers, Wilbert, Clayton and Everett Larson of Iron Mountain.
She is survived by a daughter, Marilyn (Francis) Carr of Deerfield; a granddaughter, Patricia (Scott) Glicksberg of Deerfield; three great-grandchildren, Lindsay, Dana and Robin Glicksberg; two sisters, Verna Paquette and Francie Fontana, both of Iron Mountain; and many nieces and nephews and cousins in Iron Mountain, California and Minnesota.
Funeral services and burial were held Monday, June 25, at North Shore Garden of Memories in North Shore, Ill.
The family was served by the Kelley and Spalding Funeral Home of Highland Park, Ill.

Orval Hawks
CRYSTAL FALLS — Orval E. Hawks, 82, of 296 Kalla Walla Trail, Mastodon Township, died Thursday, July 5, 2001, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield, Wis.
Orval was born June 30, 1919, in Morris, Minn., son of the late Roy and Joyce (Freeman) Hawks.
He grew up and attended school in Crosby, Minn. He served as a sergeant in the United States Army during World War II.
He married Vera Rizor on Feb. 12, 1945, in Crosby. Orval worked for Inland Steel Co. as a miner in Crosby, Crystal Falls and Iron River. He retired from Inland in 1981.
He was a member of United Lutheran Church. Orval enjoyed fishing, hunting and all sporting events. He loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren and great-granddaughter.
Orval was a life member of the V.F.W. Post of Alpha.
He is survived by his wife, Vera; two sons, Robert Leroy (Sandy) Hawks of Blaine, Minn. and Dale Alan (WeeWee) Hawks of Crystal Falls; a daughter, Patricia Ann (Dee) Schindler of Alpha; seven brothers, Lawrence Hawks of Deerwood, Minn., Donald Hawks of Crosby, Lloyd (Fritz) Hawks of Windom, Minn., Gordon (Julia) Hawks of Crystal Falls, Raymond (Juanita) Hawks of Crosby, Harold (Doodie) Hawks of Riverton, Minn., Richard (Shirley) Hawks of Minneapolis; a sister, Evelyn (Bill) Green of Hacienda Heights, Calif.; five grandchildren, Todd, Brad, Stephanie, Lindsey and Paul Hawks; a great-granddaughter, Taylor Paige Hawks; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Monday at the Jacobs-Plowe Funeral Home in Crystal Falls.
Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Rev. Dr. John Linna will officiate. The V.F.W. of Alpha will have a pass and review at 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home. A full honor color guard will be offered at graveside services.
Burial will be in the Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.

Leo Franck
MAYWOOD, Ill. — Len F. Franck, of Westchester, Ill., World War II Navy veteran, died Friday, July 6, 2001, at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, Ill.
He was born Feb. 21, 1916, in Vulcan.
He was beloved husband of Josephine (Fornetti); loving father of Regis (Julie) Franck and Randy (Susan) Franck; dear grandfather of David, Diana, Christopher, Eric and Jennifer; great-grandfather of Natalie; and fond brother of Hubert (Shirley) Franck, Frances Basquette and the late Eleanor Weasler.
Funeral services will be Monday at 10:30 a.m. at Hursen Funeral Home, southwest corner of Roosevelt and Mannheim Roads, Hillside/Westchester. Interment will be at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Hillside, Ill. Visitation is Sunday, 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. For funeral information, call 1-800-562-0082.

Susan Calcari
IRON MOUNTAIN — Susan Mary Calcari, 45, of 21 Apple Hill Circle, Madison, Wis., formerly of Iron Mountain, died Sunday, July 8, 2001, in Madison.
While she was in the loving embrace of her family, Susan Calcari’s gallant battle with breast cancer came to a peaceful end.
She was born June 25, 1956, in Iron Mountain, daughter of Robert and Carol (Oien) Calcari. Susan graduated near the top of Iron Mountain High School’s class of 1974 and went on to graduate with honors from Michigan Technological University in 1978.
She was the founder and director of University of Wisconsin-Madison’s Internet Scout Project, which publishes The Scout Report, one of the Internet’s most respected international publications, with a readership of over 250,000 researchers, university scholars and business professionals worldwide.
Highlights of her professional career include being interviewed on Good Morning America, being the subject of an article in The New York Times and being quoted by many national publications, including The Wall Street Journal and USA Today. She was also co-author of a successful book about the Internet.
Susy loved attending live blues, jazz and rock concerts, was an ardent Packer fan and an avid movie buff who cherished her warm relationships with her extended family, work colleagues and her many close friends, some living close to her, some across the country and around the world.
She is survived by her parents, Robert and Carol Calcari of Iron Mountain; her sister, Linda of Madison; her brother, Greg and sister-in-law, Janet of Neenah, Wis.; her beloved “Punkin girl” nieces, Andrea and Lauren Calcari, and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain. A time of sharing will be held at 12:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at St. Mary and St. Joseph Catholic Church in Iron Mountain. Fr. Daniel Zaloga will offer the Mass of Christian Burial.
Burial will be in Cemetery Park in Iron Mountain.
Pallbearers will be Guy Forstrom, Gary Forstrom, Mike Kopp, John Kopp, Steve Calcari and Brett Calcari.

IRON RIVER — Elin Ohlsson, 87, of Bates Township died Saturday, July 7, 2001, at Iron County Medical Care Facility.

Wallace Polley
IRON RIVER — Wallace G. Polley Sr., 85, of 100 Boyington St., Iron River, died Tuesday, July 10, 2001, at Iron County General Hospital in Iron River.
He was born April 11, 1916, in Antigo, Wis., son of the late Albert and Esther (Erb) Polley. He attended school in Pearson, Wis., moving to Iron River in 1939. He worked for his father’s lumber mill in Gibbs City (Gibbs City Lumber Mill).
In 1942, he entered the U.S. Army, serving during World War II in the European, African, and Middle Eastern theaters. After his discharge from the service, he returned to Iron River and married the former Elizabeth Ponozzo on March 30, 1945, in Iron River.
He was employed by the M.A. Hanna Mining Co., working in the area mines for 30 years and retiring in 1969.
Mr. Polley enjoyed hunting and fishing and looked forward to going to camp with his family. He was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church of Iron River and was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2891 of Crystal Falls.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth on March 12, 1995, a great-grandson, Austin; two brothers, Bob and Jack Polley; and two sisters, Nellie Powell and Theodora Hinleens.
He is survived by three sons, Gerald (Rose) Polley of Freeport, Ill., Mark (Shirley) Polley of Iron River and Wallace Polley Jr. of Iron River; three daughters, Karen Polley of Iron River, Janis (Duane) Marcell of Greendale, Wis. and Sharron (Red) Reinke of Crystal Falls; a brother, Frank Polley of Kalamazoo, lower Michigan; two sisters, Sylvia (Clarence) Ryskie of Marenisco and Eva Matzel of Bessemer; 14 grandchildren, Carrie (Duane) LaChapell, Todd Polley, Ericka (Aaron) Gursky, Scott Reinke, Shannon (Erin) Reinke, Jamis (Carrie) Polley, Steve Polley, Adam Polley, Nick Polley, Julie Marcell, Michelle Marcell, Kim Marcell, Tony (Betsy) Polley, and Joe (Valerie) Polley; 12 great-grandchildren, Tatjana, Ethan, Zachary, Richard and Hunter LaChapell; Rene, Corrina, and Henry Polley; Megan Marcell; Jamie Marcell; Alyssa Polley and Keagen Reinke; and nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held today from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home in Iron River. A liturgical prayer service will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 9:45 a.m. at the funeral home and at 10 a.m. at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Iron River. Rev. Norman Clisch, pastor and Rev. Otto Sartorelli will concelebrate the Mass of Christian Burial.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Jamie, Nick, Steve, Adam, Joseph, Tony and Todd Polley, Duane LaChapell, and Scott and Shannon Reinke.
Military rites will be accorded by the VFW Post 2891 of Crystal Falls.
Burial will be in Resthaven Cemetery in Iron River.

Jeanne Fernandes
IRON RIVER — Jeanne Fernandes, 53, of Castro Valley, Calif., formerly of Iron River, died Wednesday, July 11, 2001, at Iron County General Hospital following an illness of the past four years.
She was born Nov. 18, 1947, in Stambaugh, daughter of Elizabeth (Nasser) and the late Walter Brey. She graduated from Iron River High School.
She married Eddie Fernandes and the couple had lived in Florida and California. They owned and operated their own business, Balloons and Toons in Castro Valley, Calif.
She is survived by her husband, Eddie; a daughter, Sunnie Fernandes of Coral Springs, Fla.; her mother, Elizabeth Brey of the Iron River Care Center; two brothers, Walter Brey of Kingsford and James (Jill) Brey of Marquette; two sisters, Christine (Wayne) Selden and Mary Brey, both of Iron River; and aunts and uncles, Thomas (Nancy) Nasser and Laila (Stanley) Sadino, all of Iron River.
There will be no visitation. A private family memorial service will be held.

Marshall Hoff
FLORENCE, Wis. — Marshall Hoff, 86, of Florence, died Tuesday, July 10, 2001, at Florence Villa Nursing Home.
He was born Jan. 30, 1915, in DeKalb, Ill., son of the late Adolph and Kathryn (Clagget) Hoff. He lived in the area as a child for three or four years, moving to Chicago and then back to the area in 1945.
Marshall served in the U.S. Marines during World War II.
He married Petronella Pennings in 1948 and she preceded him in death on March 8, 1998.
Marshall and his wife owned and operated the Wagon Wheel Supper Club in Spread Eagle for many years.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting and lapidary.
He leaves a brother, Charles (Peggy) Hendrix of Downing, Calif.; and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Marshall was preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law, Kathryn (Walter) Stoga, and a brother and sister-in-law, Fred (Marie) Hoff.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain. Rev. David Anderson will officiate.

Marjorie Meyer
FLORENCE, Wis. — Marjorie L. Meyer, 64, of Florence, Wis., died Thursday, July 12, 2001, at Friendly Village Nursing Home in Rhinelander, Wis.
Marjorie was born on July 29, 2001, in Florence, the daughter of the late Carl and Olga (Hakannson) Kasten.
Marjorie grew up and attended school in Florence, graduating in 1954 in the Top 10 of her class. She went on and attended Lakeshore Technical College in Sheboygan, Wis. She resided in Sheboygan for 36 years, moving back to Florence in 1993.
In Sheboygan, Marjorie was employed by Reise Coal Co. for 30 years. Later she worked at a Sheboygan bank until her retirement.
She was member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Florence and the VFW Auxiliary Post 3635 of Florence. Marjorie enjoyed hunting and fishing and had a fondness for animals.
She is survived by three sisters, Marie Hanson of Sheboygan Falls, Wis., Ann Novak of Commonwealth, Wis. and Grace Goff of Garden City, lower Michigan; an uncle, Anslem Hakasson of Horby, Sweden; two brothers-in-law, Edward Taff of Florence, Wis., and Bill Miller of Autrain; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her former husband, James Meyer; fiancee, Walter Erickson; three sisters, Charlotte Miller, Doris Taff and Mildred Noyes; two brothers, Conrad Kasten and Henry Kasten; four brothers-in-law, Frank Novak, Cliff Hanson, Charles Goff and Garfield Noyes; and a sister-in-law, Gertrude Smithson.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Jacobs-Lundholm Funeral Home in Florence and from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Monday at St. John’s Lutheran Church.
Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the church. Pastor John Schnose will officiate.
Burial will be in Commonwealth Cemetery.

Francis Isaacson
IRON MOUNTAIN — Francis (Bill) Isaacson, 54, formerly of Felch, died Friday, July 6, 2001, at the V.A. Medical Facility in Milwaukee.
Bill was born March 16, 1947, in Milwaukee, son of the late Auvern and LaVerne (Zeeb) Isaacson. He graduated from Felch High School in 1965.
He joined the U.S. Navy in 1965 as a radio man and was honorably discharged in 1969. Bill attended two years of technical college in Valperaso, Ind., earning an associate’s degree in electronics.
Bill spent the last 30 years working as a control technician in nuclear power plants across the country.
Bill married the former Gina Falgout on April 17, 1984. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), the American Legion and the Moose Lodge.
He enjoyed golfing, motorcycles, traveling and spending time with family and friends. He will be remembered for his zest for living and enjoying life; his giving nature; warm and loving personality and sense of humor.
Bill is survived by his wife, Virginia; five sons,, Henry (Jessica), Ramir, Reno, Romulo and Jun; three daughters, MaRemdias, Kathy and Christine; 23 grandchildren; two brothers, Michael (Nancy), and Richard (Sue); a sister, Mari Pat Steinbrecher; and nieces, nephews and many friends.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; a sister; one son; a nephew; and grandparents.
Visitation was held Thursday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain. Parish prayers were recited at 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be held today at 1:30 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Foster City. Fr. George Kuppayil will offer the Mass of Christian Burial.
Burial will be in the Felch Cemetery. The Felch-Breen VFW Post 4803 will conduct full military burial rites at the cemetery.

Joan Rose
IRON MOUNTAIN — Joan Rose, 65, of Spread Eagle, Wis., died Wednesday, July 11, 2001, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain.
She was born Jan. 6, 1936, in Kingsford, daughter of Irma and the late Maynard Nelson.
Joan married Gerald Rose on March 10, 1973, in Waukegan, Ill.
She worked at The Daily News from 1980-1994 as a motor route carrier. She enjoyed ceramics, arts and crafts, gardening and hunting.
She is survived by her husband, Gerald; 14 children, Randall (Pat) St. John of Kingsford, Bernice St. John of Iron Mountain, Julie (Larry) Hall of Kingsford, Tim St. John of Spread Eagle, Tina (David) Bjorkman of Kingsford, Carole (Leon) Waitrovich of Iron Mountain, Ginger (Thomas) Tubbs of Pontiac, lower Michigan, Linda (Jim) Trejo of Pontiac, Tina (Eric) Leslie of Niagara, Wis., Tami (Mark) Lanthier of Niagara, Jerry (Jodi) Rose of Kingsford, Kevin (Michelle) Rose of Iron Mountain, Richard (Dawn) Rose of Iron Mountain and Annelle Rose of Kingsford; her mother, Irma Brown of Manistique; a brother, Durl Bradley of Iron Mountain; a sister, Ginger (Dennis) Boyd of Manistique; 30 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a special friend, Ellen Sternhagen; a special sister-in-law, Marlene Towns; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, special friends and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Deborah Schulz; her father, Maynard Nelson; two brothers, David Leland Bradley and Ronald Bradley; a grandson, Calvin Rose; and a sister-in-law, Linda Bradley.
Visitation will be held Saturday from noon until 2:30 p.m. at the Tondin-Ross & Freeman Funeral Home of Iron Mountain.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Joan’s cousin, Rev. Don Nelson will officiate. Burial will be in the Quinnesec Cemetery.

Albert McMullen
IRON RIVER — Albert L. McMullen, 59, of Little Suamico, Wis., formerly of Tipler, Wis., died unexpectedly Thursday, July 12, 2001, at his home.
He was born Sept. 16, 1941, in Green Bay, Wis., the son of the late Donald and Garnett (Egan) McMullen.
He had lived in the Tipler area and had served in the U.S. Army for six years. He was employed for many years as a truck driver and was most recently employed by the Celadon Trucking Company.
He enjoyed boating, camping, snowmobiling, 4x4ing, and all other outdoor activities. He also enjoyed hunting, but mostly for the camaraderie of his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Karen; three daughters, Sharon Leffler of Spread Eagle, Wis., Tammy McMullen and her fiance, Stephen Hodges, of Howard, Wis., and Michele Dehart and her special friend, Gregg Bruso, of Rhinelander, Wis.; two step-children, Cristal and Jim Chesnut of London, Ky. and Lance and Sandra Cornett of Ft. Benning, Ga.; 12 grandchildren, Christopher, Chad, Chantel, Cheyenne, Danny, Breanne, Myranda, Stephen Jr., Jesse, Brandi, Christopher and Cheyenne; three brothers, James (Sandy) McMullen of Lavalle, Wis., Arthur (Janet) LaBine of Howard, and David (Rhonda) LaBine of DePere, Wis.; a sister, Isabel (Donn) Stuhlmacher of Newald, Wis.; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Donald McMullen and Garnett (Egan) Blankenhorn, he was also preceded in death by a daughter, Cindy McMullen and a brother, Terry McMullen.
There will be no visitation. Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. on Monday at the Langenberg Funeral Home – Iron River Chapel. The Rev. Howard Martis, pastor of the Maple Grove Church in Tipler, will officiate.
Burial will be in the Long Lake Cemetery in Long Lake, Wis.
The McMullen family wishes to express their gratitude to the Oconto County Sheriff’s Department, the Brown County Rescue Squad and all those people who assisted in Little Suamico and at St. Mary’s Hospital.

IRON RIVER — Francis G. Sullivan, 83, of Aurora, Colo., formerly of Long Lake, Wis., passed away June 25, 2001, at the Aurora Medical Center South in Aurora.
A memorial Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Norbert Catholic Church in Long Lake. Rev. John Gerkas, pastor, will offer the Mass of Christian Burial.
Burial will be in Long Lake Cemetery.
Military honors will be accorded by the Grand Forks Air Force Base in North Dakota.

IRON RIVER — Charles “Norb” N. Sullivan, 81, of Long Lake, Wis., passed away Monday, July 9, 2001, at Iron County General Hospital in Iron River.

Ellen Larson
KINGSFORD — Ellen B. Larson, 80, of Aurora, Wis., died Wednesday, July 11, 2001, at the Florence Villa Nursing Home in Florence, Wis.
Ellen was born April 15, 1921, in Janesville, Wis., daughter of the late James and Bessie (Knox) Cantwell. She graduated from Eau Claire High School with the Class of 1939.
She married Howard Larson on Nov. 15, 1944, and they had lived in Aurora since that time. Her husband preceded her in death in 1985.
Ellen was a member of the Aurora Free Church, president of the Over 60s Club in Aurora, and wrote articles for the Aurora area in the Florence Mining News.
She loved gardening, flowers, sewing, embroidering and her cats. She was always there for her children, loved family gatherings and enjoyed traveling with her lady friends.
She is survived by three sons, Richard Larson and Donald Larson, both of Aurora, Wis. and Robert (Sue) Larson of Appleton, Wis.; two daughters, Carol Larson and Laurie (Rob) Martigon, both of Aurora; a brother, Henry (Irene) Cantwell of Glenview, Ill.; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard; an infant son, Ronald; two brothers, Raymond and Lynn Cantwell; and a sister, Janet Taugher.
Visitation will be held Sunday from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Kingsford Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. at the funeral home. Rev. Karl Utzat will officiate. Burial will be in Cemetery Park in Iron Mountain.
The Erickson-Rochon & Nash Kingsford Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Roman Rakotz
NORWAY — Roman “Rocky” Rakotz, 74, of Norway died Saturday, July 14, 2001, at his home.
He was born Aug. 16, 1926, in St. Anthony, Minn., son of the late William and Anna (Schieffler) Rakotz.
Rocky married Elaine Stanchina on May 31, 1947, in Norway. They were married for 54 years.
He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Norway and the Hall-DeWinter American Legion Post 145 in Norway.
Rocky worked for the city of Norway as an electrician for 26 years, retiring in 1988.
He enjoyed camping, hunting and spending time with his little dog, Frieda.
He is survived by his wife, Elaine; a sister, Francilla Stanchina of Norway; a brother-in-law, Francis (Elizabeth) Stanchina of Norway; two sisters-in-law, Clarice “Dolly” Orler of Norway and Kathryn Stanchina of Kingsford; her aunt, Elvina Dobis of Hodingford, Minn., numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Rocky was also preceded in death by four brothers-in-law, Junior Stanchina, John Orler, Edward Stanchina and David Morin, and a sister-in-law, Bernice Morin.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the Miner Funeral Home in Norway. Parish prayers will be offered at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home. The Hall-DeWinter American Legion Post will conduct a memorial service at 7:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Prayers will be at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home and the Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church in Norway. Fr. Mark McQuesten will officiate.
Burial will follow at Norway Township Cemetery.

Thomas Vichich
CALUMET — Thomas E. Vichich, 83, of Calumet died in the Lord on Saturday morning, July 14, 2001, at the Keweenaw Memorial Medical Center of Laurium after a three month illness.
Thomas was born Oct. 5, 1917, in Calumet, son of the late Michael and Rose Vichich. He was one of six children.
He proudly served our country during World War II with the Aviation Engineer Division, doing his four-year tour of duty in the Pacific Theater of Operations.
A graduate of Michigan Technological University and the University of Michigan, he taught at Michigan Tech for 40 years, retiring in 1981.
In 1960, he was named Teacher of the Year and after retirement, Michigan Tech honored him with Professor Emeritus. The dynamic and enthusiastic professor literally touched thousands of young lives during those 40 years, many remembering him long after his retirement, and also their own retirements. Teaching the young was his singular passion and gifted chrism.
Thomas married the former Margaret D. Hribljan of Ahmeek on Nov. 17, 1945 and she preceded him in death on Feb. 23, 1992.
They had two sons, Fr. Michael T. Vichich, pastor of St. John Neumann Parish in Hermansville/Spalding, and Mark J. Vichich of Ahmeek. He was also the proud grandpa of Megan and Emily Vichich and stepgrandchildren, Steven Mauno, children of Mark and his wife, Jodi (Westerberg). He is survived by all of them, and sisters, Rose Vichich of Calumet and Mary (Dick) Molaski of Houghton Lake, and brothers, Michael F. Vichich of Danville, Ill., and Steven (Isabelle) Vichich of Laurium, and several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, John Vichich.
After his retirement, Thomas took care of his wife until her death, then he moved to the Spalding Rectory, where he resided for the past four years with his son, Fr. Michael, joining in parish life there and ministering in his own joyful style to the parish family of his son.
Dedicated to his wife, children and grandchildren and his faith, he will be sorely missed by them and the many students he taught and tutored over the course of those many years.
According to his wishes, Thomas was cremated and the full Catholic funeral liturgy will be celebrated at St. John Neumann Catholic Church in Spalding at 11 a.m. Thursday (Central time) and at 11 a.m. (Eastern time) Friday at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Calumet to accommodate the many people who knew, loved and respected Thomas in both those areas.
There will be a visitation time in each church two hours before each funeral Mass with picture board and the cremains present for those to come and remember and celebrate his life with us.
Burial will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Ahmeek.
In lieu of flowers, Thomas would appreciate donations to the parish families of St. John Neumann of Spalding and St. Paul the Apostle Church of Calumet.
The Erickson Crowley Funeral Home of Calumet is assisting the family with funeral services.
