Logan L. Belt, 83, resident of Riggins
RIGGINS -- Funeral services for Logan Leslie Belt will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Assembly of God Church in Riggins. Burial will follow at the John Day Creek Cemetery.
Belt, 83, died Friday of a heart attack at the home of his daughter in Weiser, Idaho.
He was born at Salesville, Mont., on May 31, 1914, to Oscar D. and Mary Belt.
He married Viola M. Cass in 1938 at Westport, Ore.
They lived for many years at Lewiston where he worked as a bus driver, roofing contractor, car dealer and with his brother in the contracting business. They moved to Riggins in the early 1970s where he continued to work as a contract carpenter.
He was active in the First Assembly of God Church in Lewiston and the Assembly of God Church in Riggins.
He is survived by his wife at the family home in Riggins; three sons, Leslie Belt of Lubbock, Texas, Jim Belt of Marysville, Wash., and Bill Belt of Ketchikan, Alaska; three daughters, Carol Werre of Tacoma, Ester Benson of Nampa, and Janet Blewett of Weiser; a brother, Oscar Belt of Silverton, Idaho; 13 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Donna Lee, and by his brother, Bill Belt.
The family suggests memorials may be made to the Assembly of God Church, Riggins, ID 83549.
Visitation is from 5 to 7 p.m., Monday at the Riggins Assembly of God Church.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Shaffer Jensen Memory Chapel at Payette.

Marbel (Miggs) Randall, 88, longtime of Craigmont
SEATTLE -- Marbel J. (Miggs) Randall, longtime Craigmont resident, died Friday at the Virginia Mason Hospital in Seattle from causes related to age. She was 88.
She was born Sept. 30, 1909, to Samuel and Eva Johnson, near St. Joseph, Mo., and came to Idaho as a child.
She married K.K. (Dick) Randall at Lewiston on Oct. 4, 1929. They made their home in the Craigmont area where they farmed for more than 50 years.
After retirement she enjoyed golf, bowling, fishing and camping in the family RV. She also enjoyed traveling and visiting her children and grandchildren.
Her husband died Feb. 4, 1982.
She is survived by three daughters, Jeanne Aaring of Yakima, Rose Mary Howell of Las Vegas, Nev., and Marlene Kroiss of Magnolia, Texas; a son Kenneth Randall of Dixon, Calif.; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Wednesday, at Malcom's Brower-Wann Memorial Chapel in Lewiston. Family friends will officiate.

Glen E. Hallgarth, 74, Navy veteran, mill worker
Glen E. Hallgarth, 74, a retired mill worker, died of a stroke Saturday at the Life Care Center in Lewiston.
He was born March 21, 1923, in La Grande, Ore., to Robert and Gladys Hallgarth. He attended school in Baker City, Ore.
He married Loretta Lee, who died Jan. 9, 1984. He married Marguerite Blevins in 1986.
He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He was a gunner on the North Star USS Minneapolis in the South Pacific.
He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed fishing and being with his family. He belonged to the First Church of the Nazarene at Lewiston.
Survivors include his wife, Marguerite; a son, Dennis G. Hallgarth of La Grande, Ore.; three daughters, Glenda Cole of Hermiston, Ore., Patricia Elms of Baker City, Ore., and Lorna Smith of Walla Walla; three stepchildren, James Albertson of Salinas, Calif., Tracy Lynne Lowe of Seattle and Michelle Waterland of Gig Harbor, Wash.; 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Vassar-Rawls Funeral Home in Lewiston. The Rev. Jerry Aramowicz of the First Church of the Nazarene at Lewiston will officiate. A graveside service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Baker City, Ore.
Memorials may be made to the Arthritis Foundation.

Patricia M. Sundberg, 73, longtime of Potlatch
POTLATCH -- Funeral services for Patricia M. Sundberg, 73, will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Potlatch Presbyterian Church.
The Rev. Kathy Williams of the Elmore United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery at Palouse, Wash.
She died Saturday morning at Gritman Medical Center in Moscow from complications following a massive stroke.
She was born Jan. 1, 1925, at Belmont, Mont., to William J. and Louise I. Heriford Kottke. She attended schools in Laurel, Mont., and graduated from high school there in 1942. Her family moved to Potlatch in 1943. She worked at Potlatch area logging camps and the Potlatch Hotel.
She married Lester T. Baker in 1945. They made their home in Potlatch where he worked for Potlatch Forests Inc. at the mill. He died in 1955.
She married Arthur J. Sundberg on Dec. 22, 1956, at Potlatch where they made their home. She worked at Fonks in Moscow for a year after her marriage. She was a homemaker after that. Her husband worked for Potlatch Forests Inc. at Potlatch.
She was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church in Potlatch, the Royal Neighbors, the American Legion Auxiliary and the Moose Lodge, all of Potlatch. She enjoyed bowling, fishing and camping.
Survivors include her husband at their Potlatch home; a son, W. Theodore Sundberg of Post Falls; a brother, John Kottke of Spokane; a sister Norma Jensen of Columbus, Mont.; two step-grandchildren and six step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold and Robert Kottke.
A luncheon will follow the graveside service at the Log Inn in Potlatch. Memorials may be made to the Potlatch Ambulance Fund. Kramer Funeral Home of Palouse is in charge of arrangements.

Ranford G. Russell, 74, retired from BLM
Ranford G. Russell, 74, died Saturday at his Clarkston home of congestive heart failure.
He was born July 12, 1923, at Washougal, Wash., to Guy and Lily Hillman Russell. His family moved to White Bird, Idaho, where he attended grade school. He graduated from Grangeville High School and earned a degree in civil engineering from the University of Idaho.
He married Wanda Travis in the mid-1950s at Grangeville. She died in 1984.
He worked for the Forest Service in McCall and Alaska. He also worked for the Bureau of Land Management in Yuma, Ariz. and Riverside, Calif. He retired from the BLM in 1982.
He married Betty Whitlow on Aug. 10, 1985, at Riverside, Calif. They moved to Clarkston in 1989.
He attended Sonrise Baptist Church in Clarkston. He enjoyed fixing motors, rebuilding boats, welding and painting with acrylics.
He is survived by his wife; a daughter, RaWanda Goehring of Highland, Calif.; a stepson, Jason Whitlow of North Carolina; a stepdaughter, Emily Hudson of Riverside, Calif.; a brother Clifford Russell, of Dallas, Ore.; two sisters, Georgia DeHaas of Grangeville and Winnifred Chamberlin of Kennewick, and a grandson. He was preceded in death by a brother, Buris.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Sonrise Baptist Church in Clarkston. The Rev. Michael Koontz will officiate. A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Prairie View Cemetery in Grangeville. Services are under the direction of Noland-Blackmer Funeral Home in Grangeville.

Viola M. Jabbora, 94, formerly of Moscow
ROYAL CITY, Wash. -- Viola M. Jabbora, 94, died Saturday at her home near Royal City of congestive heart failure. She had lived in Moscow for a time in the 1940s.
A viewing will be from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Vassar-Rawls Funeral Home in Lewiston. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Vineland Cemetery at Clarkston.
She was born Dec. 23, 1903, at Seattle to William and Hanna Thompson Bronniche.
In 1925, she married Bertin O. Gustavson at Seattle. He died in 1934.
She married Charles E. Jabbora at Tacoma in 1941. He died in 1976.
She lived in Seattle from 1903 to 1937. She attended grade school and high school there. Before she married, she worked as an operator for Bell Telephone Co. and then in the catalog division for Sears and Roebuck. After her marriage she became a homemaker.
She lived in Tacoma from 1937 to 1943. After marrying Jabbora, who was a customs officer, she lived in several towns along the Washington-Canada border. From 1946 to 1948, the couple lived in Moscow.
In 1972, she moved to her the Royal City area. She enjoyed flowers and gardening. She was a member of the Catholic Church and the Catholic Daughters of the Americas.
Survivors include two sons, Charles E. Jabbora of Royal City and Wallace E. Gustavson of Clarkston; a brother, Richard Bronniche of Mesa, Ariz.; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by a sister.
Memorials may be sent to St. Michael's Catholic Church, Royal City, Wash., 99357.

Lorene O. Hackwith, 87, Lewiston resident
Lorene O. Hackwith died of cancer Saturday at her Lewiston home. She was 87.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Mountain View Funeral Home in Lewiston. Burial will follow at Lewis-Clark Memorial Gardens. The Revs. Adrian Burd and Evelyn Burd of Orchards Christian Church will officiate.
She was born March 20, 1910, at Mentha, Mich., to Edward and Cora Cosgrove Kelso. She was 7 years old when her family moved to Joplin, Mont. Four years later her family moved to Garfield, Wash., and then to Lapwai. She attended various schools in the area.
On Nov. 30, 1935, she married Grover F. Hackwith at Lewiston. They lived at Winchester and south of Winchester. They moved to Orofino and then back to the Winchester area and eventually to Craigmont.
Beginning in 1984 the couple resided in Lewiston.
She enjoyed flowers, sewing, crocheting and being with her family.
She is survived by her husband; two daughters, Arretta W. Frost of Ontario, Ore., and Dixie F. Osburn of Lewiston, seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Arthur L. (Buck) Fuller, 69, lifelong of Clarkston
Arthur L. (Buck) Fuller, a lifelong Clarkston resident, died of cancer Saturday at his home. He was 69.
He was born Oct. 16, 1928, in Lewiston to Arthur Lewis Fuller and Doris Deaveny Fruen Fuller. He attended school at Clarkston and graduated from Clarkston High School in 1946. He worked in the body shop at Adams Auto Sales before joining the Navy in October of 1950. While in the Navy he acquired his electrical trade skills aboard the USS Juneau.
He married Betty Scharnhorst on June 5, 1955, at Genesee.
He was employed at John's Electric in Lewiston from 1954 until ill health forced him to retire in 1992. A master electrician, his last major project was working on the new library at Lewis-Clark State College. He taught an electrical apprenticeship class for the IBEW 73 Electrical Union for over 20 years.
He was a member of the Clarkston Jaycees. He was active in the Bantam Boosters and the Holy Family Boy Scout Troop 264. He also coached and assisted the Asotin County Little League and Babe Ruth.
He was an avid sports fan. He enjoyed being outdoors, fishing, hunting and camping with family and friends. He loved dancing and listening to big band music.
He is survived by his wife; three sons, Brad of Spokane, Brett of Clarkston, and Bryan of Los Angeles; two daughters, Brenda Raffety of Las Vegas and Becky Albright, of Clarkston; a sister, Barbara Brown, of Pomeroy and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a stepsister.
Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday and 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Thursday at Merchants Funeral Home of Clarkston. Visitation will also be from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday at the Holy Family Church of Clarkston where the funeral service will follow at 1 p.m.
The family requests memorials be made to St. Joseph Family Hospice and Holy Family School of Clarkston.

Naomi Shephard, 80, Nez Perce tribal member
YAKIMA -- Naomi Amy Shephard, a Nez Perce tribal member and direct descendent of Old Joseph and Ollicut and a great-grandniece of Chief Joseph, died of a heart attack Saturday at Central Convalescent Center here. She was 80.
She was born Jan. 4, 1918, to Gilbert E. and Elizabeth Lawyer Conner at Spalding.
She had worked as a stunt person and extra in movies, including "Northwest Passage." She also worked for the Bureau of Indian Affairs and the Department of Social and Health Services.
She married Frank Shephard May, 12, 1960, in Stevenson, Wash. He died in 1993.
She was active in community affairs and was a member of the Local Indian Child Welfare Advisory Committee at DSHS and the National American Indian Women's Association.
Survivors include two stepdaughters, Sadie Feldhauer of Seattle and Jean Cunningham of Carbondale, Ill.; two sisters, Leah Conner and Etta Conner, both of Pendleton, Ore.; three brothers, Gilbert Cecil Conner of Madras, Ore., and Norman Conner and Earl Tax Conner, both of Pendleton.
Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. today at Keith and Keith Funeral Home in Yakima. Her funeral will be tonight at 7 at Keith and Keith Ninth Avenue Chapel in Yakima. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Terrace Heights Memorial Park in Yakima.

Richard A. Ross, 47, of Lewiston, retired typesetter
Richard A. Ross, a retired typesetter for the Money Saver in Lewiston, died of cancer Saturday at his Lewiston home. He was 47.
He was born June 26, 1950, to John A. and Lorraine Bellows Ross in Spokane. He attended schools in both Lewiston and Spokane, graduating in 1968 from Lewis-Clark High School in Spokane.
After graduation he began working for the Tribune Publishing Co. in Lewiston as a Linotype operator.
He married Susan Wing Feb. 13, 1971, in Clarkston. They divorced in 1992.
He became production manager for the Idahonian in Moscow in 1983. He began work in 1991 as a typesetter for the Money Saver in Lewiston, retiring December 1997.
He was a member of the Lewiston Eagles Lodge and past officer of the Tribune Credit Union.
He enjoyed writing novels and poetry, golfing, fishing, camping, and traveling. He also enjoyed his 1980 Chevrolet Malibu, which was being restored.
He is survived by a son, Jonathan Ross of Lewiston; his companion, Barbie McVey of Lewiston; a sister, Shirley Connors of Spokane; and a brother, Cary Ross of Chewelah.
Viewing will be from 2 to 8 p.m. today at Mountain View Funeral Home in Lewiston. His funeral will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Mountain View, followed by burial at Lewis-Clark Memorial Gardens at Lewiston. Sister Mary Ann Farley of St. Joseph Regional Medical Center Pastoral Care will officiate.

Ellen Josephine Olson, 77, Clarkston homemaker
Ellen Josephine Olson, a Clarkston homemaker and bookkeeper, died Monday of cancer at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Lewiston. She was 77.
She was born March 28, 1920, to Eric J. and Cassie E. Baker Anderson at Texas Ridge, Idaho. The family moved to Clarkston and she graduated from Clarkston High School in 1939.
She married Verlyn L. Olson Oct. 26, 1940, in Lewiston. She worked as a bookkeeper for Baldeck's, Lewiston clothing store, for 20 years. She was also a homemaker.
She was a member of the Eastern Star, Daughters of the Nile and the Malic Sisters. Her hobbies were her family, crafts, cooking, travel and remodeling.
Survivors include a daughter, Judy Olson of Clarkston; a son, Skip Olson of Lewiston; three brothers, Wally Anderson of Clarkston, Don Anderson of Lebanon, Ore., and Norm Scott of Maryland; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Her husband died in 1993.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Friday at Merchant Funeral Home in Clarkston. Ev Hopkins, a friend, will lead the service. Inurnment will be at Lewis-Clark Memorial Gardens in Lewiston.

Correction:
Ellen Josephine Olson, 77, who died Monday, is survived by a daughter, July Nelson of Clarkston. Nelson was misidentified in Olson's obituary in Tuesday's Lewiston Tribune because of a news clerk's error.

Walter Thompson, 74, ran area dairy in late 1940s
WENATCHEE -- Walter James Thompson, a retired Okanogan County employee, died of complications of pneumonia Saturday at Central Washington Hospital here. He was 74.
He was born June 28, 1923, to George Dewey Thompson Sr. and Flora Dent Bryant Thompson in Okanogan County. He attended school in Okanogan.
He married Jean E. Harrington July 31, 1945, and they made their home on Salmon Creek south of Happy Hill Road. He worked on his father's farm and at the Chevron Station in Okanogan.
The family moved in 1947 to Headquarters, where he ran a dairy, worked in the woods, as a carpenter and repaired machinery for Potlatch Forests Inc. They moved to Weippe in 1953 and he farmed and worked in lumber mills.
The family moved in 1960 to Omak, where he worked at the U-Save Service Station with his brother, George Jr. He began working for the Okanogan County Road Department in 1961, retiring in 1985.
The couple were members of the Caribou Trail Good Sams and he served as president, wagonmaster and dedicated coffee maker. They were members of the Okanogan Senior Center and the Omak Senior Center, where he was a board member and volunteered his time doing maintenance. They were Senior Citizens of the Year in 1997.
They also belonged to the First Missionary Baptist Church in Okanogan, where he served as moderator, trustee and deacon.
He enjoyed hunting, especially in the Headquarters area, steelhead fishing near Lewiston, traveling, camping and making and repairing things for family and friends.
He is survived by his wife at their home; two sons, James R. Thompson of Lewiston and Ronald J. Thompson of Omak; a daughter, Judith M. Allen of Okanogan; three brothers, Raymond Thompson and Mark Thompson, both of Okano-gan; and George Thompson Jr. of Omak; four sisters, Mary Harrington of Troy, Idaho, Geraldine McLean of Omak, Lillian Rogers of Seattle and Carol McManus of Wenatchee; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Francis Woods and Margaret Lange; and three infant siblings.
Visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. today at the Barnes Chapel in Okanogan. His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, also at the Barnes Chapel, with the Rev. Tim McDonald of the Okanogan First Baptist Church officiating. Interment will be at the Okanogan City Cemetery.

Agnes Chandler, 92, daughter of pioneer family
Agnes Marie Chandler, a daughter of a Lewiston pioneer family, died of congestive heart failure Sunday at Life Care Center in Lewiston.
She was 92.
She was born May 22, 1905, in Lewiston to George D. and Agnes Ann Wheatcroft Riggs, a Lewiston area pioneer family for more than 100 years.
After her schooling she worked for Woolworth's Department Store in Lewiston when it first opened, for 18 months. After her marriage she became a homemaker.
She married Wayne E. Chandler Dec. 25, 1923, in Lewiston. They moved to New York state and lived in Elmira, Binghamton and North Syracuse. The family returned to Lewiston in 1966. Her husband died March 20, 1979.
She moved in 1992 to the elder-care home of Carla and Max Halsey in Clarkston, where she was cared for until January. She had lived at Life Care Center since then.
She was a member of St. James Catholic Church in Lewiston until she moved to Clarkston.
She is survived by two sons, Donald W. Chandler of Manassas, Va., and James R. Chandler of Lewiston; four grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Jean Marie Luoma; three sisters, Mary Elizabeth, Margaret Brink and Annabelle Huddleston; and eight brothers, Benjamin, David, Sylvester, George, Tom, Joe, Willis and Al.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 8 a.m. next Tuesday at Holy Family Catholic Church in Clarkston. The Rev. Leonard Forsmann of that church will be the celebrant.
Cremation has taken place. Vassar-Rawls Funeral Home in Lewiston was in charge of cremation.

Mabel Jeremiah, 79, former Lewiston resident
MISSOULA -- Mabel Jeremiah of Missoula, Mont., a former Lewiston resident, died in Missoula Dec. 31 of emphysema. She was 79.
She was born Jan. 23, 1918, to William Lee Roy and Irene Kinder Winn. She attended schools in Idaho.
She married Elmer A. Reed in 1938. They lived in Headquarters and the Lewiston area. They later divorced.
She married William Jeremiah Oct. 18, 1946. They moved to Pablo, Mont., near Missoula, in the 1960s. Her husband died in 1967. She worked for the Consolidated Dairies in Ronan, Mont., also near Missoula.
She returned to Lewiston in 1972 and worked at The Helm restaurant. She retired in 1979 and returned to the Missoula area.
She is survived by a son, Larry Reed of Texas; a daughter, Kay Lynne Dupuis of Missoula; three brothers, Cecil Winn of Alaska, John Winn of Florida and Ned Sommerville of California; two sisters, Phyllis Bonura and Beverly Dunn, both of California; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers.
Her funeral was held Jan. 3 in Ronan with interment at Mountain View Cemetery in Ronan.

Elden (Ike) Sharp, 60, brother of Pullman
KETCHIKAN, Alaska -- Elden Larry (Ike) Sharp, 60, a former Weiser resident, died Jan. 25 at his home in Ketchikan of cardiovascular disease.
His brother lives in Pullman.
He was born June 13, 1937, to Glen E. and Emma C. Lukenbill Sharp near Harrisburg and Kimball, Neb. The family moved to Weiser, where he attended grade school and high school.
He served in the U.S. Army in Alaska in the late 1950s and then returned to Weiser.
He married Judy K. Davis in Athol, Idaho, in 1959. They later divorced.
In the early 1980s he moved to the Anchorage area and in 1986 he moved to Ketchikan.
He was a handyman who worked many trades from gas-pump attendant and maintenance technician to bank loan officer.
He enjoyed church activities, painting and being outdoors.
He is survived by his daughter, Lori Ably of Ketchikan and Darla Sharp of Corvallis, Ore.; three brothers, Glen Sharp of Pullman, Dale Sharp of Boise and Rodney Sharp of Weiser; and five grandchildren.
A brother, Bill Sharp of Boise, died previously. A memorial service was held Monday in Ketchikan.

Louis Jurgens, 82, formerly of Weippe
KALISPELL, Mont. -- Louis (Guy) Henry Jurgens, 82, a former Weippe resident, died of complications of pneumonia at home Jan. 10.
He was born June 16, 1915, in Asotin to Joseph Wenzel and Cecil Kramer Jurgens. He attended grade school in the Pomeroy area and graduated from Pullman High School.
He married Georga Maynard Feb. 18, 1935, at Asotin.
They were longtime residents of the Weippe area, where he worked in the sawmills as a saw filer. In 1964 they moved to Polson, Mont., and from there to Kalispell, where he retired from mill work.
He was an avid fisherman and hunter and loved the outdoors.
He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Joan Adams of Orofino; two sons, Guy L. Jurgens of Carson City, Nev., and Dennis Jurgens of Kalispell; a sister, Wanda Strobel of Clarkston; nine grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a half sister, Rose Rubenser.
A funeral was held in Kalispell Jan. 14 and burial followed at Glacier Memorial Gardens in Kalispell.

Nellie B. Vessey, 90, Grangeville homemaker
GRANGEVILLE -- Nellie B. Vessey, a Grangeville homemaker, died of causes related to age Wednesday at the Grangeville Care Center. She was 90.
She was born May 24, 1907, to William M. and Matilda E. Tromell Massey in Oklahoma. The family later moved to Wyoming and Idaho, where she attended school.
She moved to Montana in 1929.
She married Fred Vessey March 21, 1931, at Lewistown, Mont. They made their home in Roy, Mont., and moved to Stites in 1945.
Her husband died in 1962.
She moved to Grangeville in 1969.
She was a member of the Church of God in Stites and Grangeville.
Her hobbies included quilting, crocheting, visiting with family and friends, gardening and fishing. She also enjoyed animals.
Her survivors include two sons, Fred Vessey of Stites and Rod Vessey of Grangeville; a daughter, Dona Hallinan of Anchorage, Alaska; a sister, Lu Reed of Stites; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by two sons, Jay Lemoyne Vessey and Daniel William Vessey.
Her funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Trenary Funeral Home in Kooskia followed by burial at Pine Grove Cemetery in Kooskia. The Rev. Gary Thesan of Grangeville will officiate.

Ronald E. Towler, 67, retired Lewiston truck driver
The funeral for Ronald E. Towler, a retired Lewiston truck driver who died Tuesday, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Lewiston Seventh-day Adventist Church. Ron Schultz, church pastor, will conduct the service.
Towler died Tuesday of congestive heart failure at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Lewiston at the age of 67.
He was born July 11, 1930, to Ronald L. and Wilma E. Ballard Towler in Sunnyside, Wash.
He served with the U.S. Army in Alaska, where he received his general education development certificate.
He married Wreatha Smith in 1954 at Portland, Ore. They later divorced.
He lived in the Northwest working as an engineer assistant for Boeing. He later worked as a truck driver. Then he attended Portland Union Academy and Portland Community College, receiving a degree in printing. He moved to Seattle and ran a hospital print shop for 10 years.
He married Ethel Taylor in the early 1980s at Puyallup, Wash. She preceded him in death.
Towler moved to the Lewiston-Clarkston Valley in 1991 with his daughter and granddaughter.
He married Malinda Stewart Aug. 19, 1995, in Lewiston.
He was a member of the Lewiston Seventh-day Adventist Church. He played clarinet in the Lewis-Clark Volunteer Band.
His hobbies included train steam engines and farm equipment run by steam engines, music, gardening, doing needlepoint and building model airplanes.
Survivors include his wife at their Lewiston home; two daughters, Rhonda Brown of Florence, Ore., and Nancy Towler of Clarkston; a sister, JoAn Aplington of Portland, Ore.; and a granddaughter.
Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today at Mountain View Funeral Home in Lewiston. Cremation will take place.
