Robert Edward Cumbie Jr.
Johnson Funeral Home, Monroeville
Robert Edward Cumbie Jr., 60, of Uriah died Saturday, Feb. 10, 2007 in a local hospital.
Cumbie was a native of Hybart but had lived in Uriah most of his life. He was a retired schoolteacher from the J.U. Blacksher High School.
Survivors include his mother, Florence Cumbie; a sister, Barbara Lambert; a brother, Chris Cumbie; two sons, John Kenneth Cumbie and Robert E. Cumbie III and a daughter, Rachael Lauren Cumbie.
Services were held Tuesday, Feb. 13 at 11 a.m. from the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Marlan Brown and the Rev. Mark Wittington officiating. Burial followed in the Uriah Cemetery.

Thomas Andrew Hegarty
Monroe Chapel, Monroeville
Thomas Andrew Hegarty, 85, of Monroeville died Friday, Feb. 9, 2007 at his home.
Hegarty was a native of San Francisco, Calif. and has resided in Monroeville for the past four years. He was an administrative clerk for the City and County of San Francisco. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Sally Hegarty.
Survivors include a son, Dr. Daniel Hegarty of Monroeville and two grandsons.
Services will be held at a later date at St. Annes Parish Catholic Church in San Francisco.

Ouida Kuhlman
Johnson Funeral Home, Monroeville
Ouida Kuhlman, 91, of Monroeville died Monday, Feb. 12, 2007 in a local hospital.
Kuhlman was a native and lifelong resident of Monroe County and a retired Civil Service employee.
Graveside services were held Wednesday, Feb. 14 at 10 a.m. in the Pineville Cemetery with the Rev. Glen Eubanks officiating.

Eliza A. McFadden
Memorial Funeral Home, Prichard
Eliza A. McFadden of Beatrice died Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2007.
McFadden was a retired teacher with the Monroe County School System and a member of New Purchase C.M.E. Church.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Annie Bell McFadden (James) Kidd; two brothers, Albert (Ruby) McFadden and Willie Ed McFadden.
Survivors include one sister, Bessie McFadden of Beatrice.
Funeral services were held on Friday, Jan. 12 at 11 a.m. at New Purchase C.M.E. Church in Beatrice. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Mark Allen Musser
Monroe Chapel, Monroeville
Mark Allen Musser, 43, died Saturday, Jan. 27 at his home in Mexia.
Musser was a native of Mayfield, Ky. but had lived in the Monroeville area for several years.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Sherline Bowlin.
Survivors include his wife, Tammy Carter of Mexia; his father and step-mother, Jimmy Musser and Jamie Musser of Mayfield; three sisters, Cheryl Ellegood, Ali Jo Musser and Elizabeth Musser, all of Mayfield; one son, Jessie Musser of Mayfield; one daughter, Autumn Hunter of Mayfield; four step-children; Krystel Carter, Jessica Carter and Alex Carter, all of Monroeville and Hollie Boyd of Mayfield; two grandchildren and one step-grandson.

Robert D. Noble
Monroe Chapel
Robert D. Noble, 71, of Camden died Sunday, Feb. 11, 2007.
Noble was a native of Rome County, Wis. and has resided in Wilcox County for the past nine years. He served in the U.S. Navy and worked on a poultry farm.
Survivors include his father, William E. Noble of De Funiak Springs, Fla.; a son, Robbie Noble of Arizona; a daughter, Lorie Noble of Arizona; three brothers, William K. Noble of Phoenix, Ariz., Ralph Thomas Noble of De Funiak Springs and Howard V. Noble of Camden.
Services will be held Friday, Feb. 16 at 2 p.m. at Camden Church of God with Bishop F.W. Sheppard officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery in Camden.

Myrtle D. Norwood
Johnson Funeral Home, Monroeville
Myrtle D. Norwood, 95, of Monroeville died Thursday, Feb. 8, 2007 at the Monroe County Hospital.
Norwood was a native of Conecuh County and had resided in Monroeville most of her life. She was a homemaker and a member of Southside Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Joyce M. Sirmon; three brothers and four sisters.
Survivors include two sons, Joseph C. (Helen) Norwood of Fairhope and Danny M. Norwood of Brewton; one daughter, Melba (James) Williams of Monroeville; seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Services were held Sunday, Feb. 11 at 2 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Burt Bounds officiating. Burial followed in Mt. Zion Cemetery in Lyeffion.

Susie D. Oswald
Radney Funeral Home, Mobile
Susie D. Oswald, 107, died Thursday, Feb. 8, 2007 at a local nursing facility.
Oswald was a lifelong resident of southern Alabama and a long time member of Government Street Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Matheas “Dutchy” Oswald; a son, Robert M. Oswald and a grandson, Mark Stephen Oswald.
Survivors include one granddaughter and three great-grandchildren.
Services were held Tuesday, Feb. 13 at 1 p.m. at Radney Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed in Pine Crest Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Government Street Baptist Church, 3401 Government Blvd., Mobile, Ala. 36693.

Charlie Virginia Thomas
Memorial Funeral Home, Mobile
Charlie Virginia Thomas, 79, died Jan. 19, 2007 in Eight Mile Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Thomas was a member of Lily Baptist Church in Frisco City.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Thomas; two brothers, Percy Lett Jr. and John Lett Sr. and two sisters, Lula Dean and Bonnie Bryant.
Survivors include four daughters, Betty Stanley and Sarah (Ellis) Davis, both of Frisco City, Anna (Richard) Odoms of Mobile and Carolyn (Freddie) Rigsby of Jacksonville, Fla.; three sons, Robert (Rose) McGinnis and Ronnie (Becky) McGinnis, both of Mobile and Eddie (Cindy) McGinnis of Baltimore, Md.; one sister, Willie G. Matthew of Frisco City; three brothers, Andrew Lett of Mobile, Ollie James Richardson of Cleveland, Ohio and Lawrence Lee of Pensacola, Fla.; 22 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren and four great great-grandchildren.
Services were held Jan. 27 at 1 p.m. at Lily Baptist Church in Frisco City with Rev. W.E. Hill officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Henry Otis Turberville
Johnson Funeral Home, Monroeville
Henry Otis Turberville, 73, of Franklin died Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2007 at Mobile Infirmary Hospital.
Turberville was a lifelong resident of Franklin and was a member of the Eureka Baptist Church. He had worked as a heavy equipment operator for the Monroe County Road Department.
Survivors include his wife, Elmira Turberville of Franklin; one son, Robbins Turberville of Franklin; one daughter, Lynn Brown of Franklin; one brother, Glenn Turberville of Franklin; four sisters, Dorothy Sessions of Monroeville, Pearline Wilkerson of Excel, Elizabeth Turberville and Vida Stacey, both of Franklin; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services were held Friday, Feb. 9 at 10 a.m. at the Franklin Church of God with Rev. Thomas Lewis and Rev. Scott Allen officiating. Burial followed in Bryant Cemetery.

Mary Olga Garrett Vice
Johnson Funeral Home, Monroeville
Mary Olga Garrett Vice, 100, died Friday, Feb. 9, 2007.
Vice was born in McWilliams and lived in Frisco City most of her life. She was a schoolteacher and received her degree from the University of Montevallo. She had resided in Pensacola, Fla. for the past three years. She was a member of Frisco City Methodist Church.
Survivors include two children, Marion (Gene) Hawks and Dan Vice, both of Pensacola; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Services were held Wednesday, Feb. 14 at 2 p.m. at Frisco City United Methodist Church with Rev. Don Davitz officiating. Burial followed in Union Cemetery.
