KESLER, Clarinda Frantz, (Wee Wee), 90, of Roanoke, died Tuesday, April 1, 2003. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. (Gene) Kesler, Sr.; and her brothers, Jacob Henry Frantz and E.N. (Pete) Frantz. Mrs. Kesler was a member of Raleigh Court United Methodist Church and was an avid bridge player. She was a longtime resident of the Raleigh Court Community and will be missed by all who knew her. Surviving are her sons, Robert E. Kesler, Jr. and wife, Michele, George G. Kesler and wife, Kathy; sister and brother-in-law, Mary Dan and W. Harry Crumpler; grandchildren, Robby Kesler, Danny Kesler, Katie Kesler and Robyn Kesler. KESLER, Vera Crenshaw, born July 24, 1908, of Charlottesville, Va., died Friday, March 21, 2003. Daughter of Joseph Louick and Cora Davis Crenshaw, Vera was born in Elmore City, Okla. and grew up in Missouri. During World War II, she joined the American Red Cross and was stationed outside Cherbourg, France where she directed recreation programs for wounded servicemen. This job sent her to Red Cross clubs in the Philippines and China as well. Sparked with an interest in China, she accepted an assignment with the Agency for International Development (AID) in Nahking in 1948. She worked with the Economic Cooperation Administration. Communist takeovers forced her return to Washington, D.C. in 1950. There, she met and married Ben Kesler and accompanied him on his last military assignment to Nigeria. In Nigeria, she worked almost full-time as a volunteer for charitable causes. She and Ben retired to St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands in 1966 where they dedicated most of their time to the creation and development of the Botanical Gardens. Hurricane Hugo forced them back to the states in 1991 and they spent their remaining years at The Colonnades Retirement Community in Charlottesville. Vera was preceded in death by her husband, Ben Kesler. She is survived by one stepson, Ben Kesler, Jr. and his wife, Marge of Tucson, Ariz.; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. There will be no memorial service as she donated her body to science. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the American Red Cross or the Salvation Army in her name. Raymond Howard Kesler, 64, passed away suddenly October 17, 2002, in Salt Lake City, Ut.
Born October 30, 1937, in Salt Lake City, to Lee Howard Kesler and Edith Nora Richardson.
Raymond worked for 39 years as a custodian for the University of Utah, 25 of which were for the gymnastics team. He always enjoyed his association with the University of Utah gymnastics team. Member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Salt Lake # 67. He had many friends who were C Biers, his call code was BLJ. He had many life long friends around town.
Survived by his siblings, Richard E. "Dick", Grants Pass, OR, Jay (Mary Ann), Murray; Glen (Sandra), West Valley City; Camille Logins, Salt Lake City; David (Terry), Salt Lake City. and by many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Virginia Lee Karnes.

Lula Faye George Kesler was born to Alma James and Lula Maude Warren George Feb 17, 1931 in Kanosh, UT and passed away May 31, 2002 at the age of 71 from natural causes surrounded by her family in the same home in which she was born. Faye married Calvin Thomas Kesler June 11, 1951 in the Manti LDS Temple and they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2001.
Faye was preceded in death by LaNila Kesler Robinson (Brian) and is survived by Pamela Kesler Robison (Lloyd) Meadow, UT; Kevin C. Kesler (Robyn Carling) Hyde Park, UT; Lloyd G. Kesler (Kathy Leach) Kanosh, UT; Travis James Kesler (Sara Probert) Kanosh, UT; 16 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Faye was raised in Kanosh and graduated from Millard High School in 1949. She attended Southern Utah State College while she was in her 50's and graduated in 1984. She taught at Fillmore Elementary until she retired in 1993. Calvin and Faye made their home in the old Cove Fort, Utah, where they lived until their first four children were born. They then moved to Kanosh and lived in Faye's childhood home where they finished raising their first four children and then raised their final son along with two of their grandchildren Brandy and Colby Robinson after LaNila and Brian passed away. Faye was active in the LDS Church holding many positions and served her community in many ways. She will be remembered for the love and joy she provided to her family and friends.

Mr. Kesler, widower of Lynda Waldrop Kesler, died Friday, May 31, 2002 at his residence. Born in the Eutopia Section of Newberry County, he was a son of the late H. Adam and Dessie Kilgore Kesler. He was a U. S. Army veteran, a member and former trustee of Trinity United Methodist Church and part owner of Trinity Farms. He was a member of the Amity Masonic Lodge # 87, Newberry York Rite Bodies, Hejaz Shrine Temple and the Newberry County Shrine Club, the Newberry Moose Lodge, the Newberry and Saluda County Cattlemen Association, the American Jersey Cattlemen Association, the S.C. Jersey Cattle Club and the Silverstreet Young Farmer's Association. In 1993, he was recognized by the S.C. Jersey Cattlemen Association for the management of one of the top 10 herds in the nation. He had also been Chief of the Silverstreet Fire Department.

WORCESTER -- Josef Kesler, 87, of 275 Pleasant St., a retired machinist, died Monday, Nov. 26, at St. Vincent Hospital at Worcester Medical Center, from injuries suffered after being struck by an car across from his home. His wife, Bracha (Schnajer) Kesler, predeceased him. He leaves two daughters, Dorota Feinzeig of Worcester and Regina Kesler of Israel; and two grandchildren, David and Kara Feinzeig, both of Worcester. He was born in Poland, son of Abraham and Ryvka (Hamburgier) Kesler, and came to the 1970. He fought with the Soviet underground against the Nazi Army during World War II. Mr. Kesler was a supermarket manager in Poland. In the U.S., he was a machinist for Guardian Industries, retiring many years ago. Ellen Tourssen Kesler, dearly beloved wife of the late A. Pratt Kesler died peacefully at home, October 25, 2001. Born in Salt Lake City, Dec. 27, 1916 to Alfred E. and Wilhelmina Norman Tourssen. Ellen attended the University of Utah, where she affiliated with Pi Beta Phi Sorority. In addition to her devotion to family and friends, she was long active in community affairs having served as President of the Junior League of Salt Lake and on boards of the Utah Cancer Society, Utah Republican Women's Club, and the Utah Bar Auxiliary. Ellen was a member of the Town Club, Salt Lake Country Club, and the Alta Club. She was also an enthusiastic participant in the world of fashion and golf. Survivors include her daughter, Pamela Kesler Bollow (John R.), her son, John T. Kesler (Colleen), and her grandchildren, John and Allison Kesler, and Eric and Russell Bollow. She was preceded in death by her brother, Norman A. Tourssen, and her sister, Shirley Tourssen Rich. In spite of her many friends, Ellen requested no funeral or public service.

Joseph Perkins Kesler, 86, passed away peacefully on Dec. 3, 2000, in Salt Lake City, Utah with his sweet-heart of over 60 years by his side. He was born March 1, 1914 in Raymond, Alberta, Canada to Edgar and Emma Perkins Kesler, and was the youngest of nine children. The family returned to Utah when he was a young boy. Joseph attended Davis High School in Kaysville, Utah and later graduated from the University of Utah. He married his eternal companion, Bonnie Catherine Adams, on June 13, 1939 in the Salt Lake Temple. In June, 1941, he graduated as a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Oregon and as a Surgeon of the U.S. Public Health Service in San Francisco on July 20, 1942. He served his country with honor in World War II as a surgeon in the South Pacific. In February, 1946, he was licensed as a physician by the state of Utah in medicine and surgery. After several years of private practice in Utah, his professional focus turned to public health. In June, 1957, he received his masters degree from Harvard University in Public Health. In December 1976, he was recognized for 20 years of service to the Utah Division of Health. Joseph served as Utah State Director of Health Services and for years was the Director of the Children's Medical Center at the University of Utah. Survived by his wife; a son, John (Anita), Irvine, CA; and daughters, Linda Adams Kesler, Holladay, UT; Mrs. Jane Charcofsky, Hilo, HI; Mrs. Catherine (Sean) Vanausdall, Ashland, OR; and three lovely grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Dec. 9, 2000 at 12 noon, at Larkin Mortuary, 260 E. KESLER, Benjamin Robert, of Charlottesville, died Tuesday, October 10, 2000. Ben was born on November 15, 1911 in Eelamsville, Va. He received his Masters degree in History from the University of Virginia. Ben served in the Pacific during W.W.II as a Lt. Commander, U.S. Navy. He worked as an education officer in the Marshall Islands, Pakistan, Nigeria and Washington D.C. for the Agency for International Development. After his retirement in 1966, he and his wife Vera moved to St. Croix, USVI where they lived for 22 years. He enjoyed his favorite sports of spear fishing and ocean diving. He wrote extensively on the history of the St. George Village Botanical Gardens in St. Croix. Ben is survived by his beloved wife, Vera C. Kesler of Charlottesville; son, Ben Jr. and his wife, Marjorie of Raleigh, N.C.; brother, Richard Kesler of Pinehurst, N.C.; four granddaughters and one great-grandson. Fred P. Kesler, passed away September 21, 2000, at the age of 87.
Dad was born October 23, 1912 to Janna Andrea F. Enholm, and Ambrose B. Kesler, in Salt Lake City, Utah. He graduated from LDS High School, where he was on the golf and swimming teams; he attended the University of Utah where he lettered in swimming as a freshman. Dad received his professional degree at Lincoln Chiropractic College, Indianapolis, Indiana, and provided chiropractic care, including "home calls," wherever he went for the rest of his life. It is notable that he never sent a bill to his patients.
He married Arlene Anchorstrand in the LDS Salt Lake Temple on August 16, 1934. Mother always said that she got the most eligible bachelor in Salt Lake City.
A devoted and faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Dad served two LDS missions, one to Germany in 1930-33 and one together with Mother to Austria in 1975. Dad remained fluent in the German language throughout his life, and he loved to converse with his German friends throughout the valley. He served in many church capacities through the years, but his favorite was teaching the Gospel Doctrine Class.
Dad knew how to play, and his interests were varied, as long as it was sports, especially golf. He was a member of Fort Douglas Hidden Valley Golf Club for over sixty years. Any day spent on the golf course was a good day--and on one of those days he had a hole in one. Dad was Utah State Doubles Handball champion for a number of years, and he had great natural athletic ability. He also loved ranches and horses, and fine automobiles; going for long drives around the Salt Lake Valley and canyons, and he never tired of McDonald's burgers.
Survived by his wife, Maralyn Holt Kesler; a sister, Melba Black; daughters, Bobbie Smith, Great Falls, Montana; Judie Ahrend (George) of Sandy; and son, Christopher S. Kesler, Midvale; grandchildren, Brian E. Smith (Lou), Scott K. Smith (Kathleen) and Christopher A. Smith (Tina); Timothy M. Ahrend (Joy), Stephanie A. Smith (Rick), Spencer Ahrend (Lisa), Matthew Ahrend and Elizabeth Irvine; Andrea Kesler, Frederick Z. Kesler and C. Jacob Kesler; 14 great-grandchildren; Josh Smith, Jake Smith, Ben Smith, Jeni Smith, Eric Smith, Tyler Smith, Candace Smith, Kaydee Smith, Nicholas Ahrend, Emilia Smith, Lily Smith, Isabelle Smith, Jonah Irvine and Olivia Irvine; and sister-in-law, Jean Foulger; as well as many special nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Arlene, his wife of sixty years; sister, Betty Crump; brother, Orson P. Kesler; a son-in-law, Ira W. Smith; and a son, Stephen F. Kesler.

Selma A. Kesler, 84, an elementary school teacher who taught in four public school systems in DuPage County, died Sunday, July 23, in her Warrenville home. Mrs. Kesler taught in Villa Park, Darien, Glen Ellyn and Bloomingdale schools for more than 20 years. Born and raised in Olney, Ill., Mrs. Kesler attended Eastern Illinois University and Wheaton College, and received a master's degree in education from Northern Illinois University. "There was nothing she didn't do," said her daughter VirginiaLee Metz. "She was a painter, played the piano and enjoyed decorating her home." Mrs. Kesler lived in Lombard for 40 years and is remembered for her optimism. "The grandchildren often say they want to grow up to be like her," Metz said. "She loved children and they loved her." Other survivors include another daughter, Joy Anne Achtipes; a son, Harley; six grandchildren; two brothers, Delbert and Bobby Colvin; and two sisters, Pauline Stealy and Betty Dunn. KESLER, William Otho, (Bill), 95, a resident of Richfield Nursing Home in Salem, died Tuesday, June 13, 2000, at Lewis Gale Hospital. Bill was born in Roanoke County on March 19, 1905, son of O. D. Kesler and Virginia H. Black. He was preceded in death by his wife, Irene Smith Kesler. Bill was employed by Norfolk & Western Railway from 1922 until 1969 when he retired as the Auditor of Disbursements. He was a member of the National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors and spent a substantial amount of time with his clock collection. He was also an Elder of the First Presbyterian Church. Surviving Mr. Kesler are his sister-in-law, Dorothy Warden; also of Richfield, his nephew, Bill Kesler of Charlotte, N.C.; his niece, Betty Jane Thomas of Richmond; and nieces, Suzanne W. Gardner, and Betty Jo Elliot, both of whom were raised by Mr. Kesler. The funeral will be conducted at Oakey's South Chapel on Friday, June 16, 2000, at 12 Noon, with the Rev. Lucy Alice Kesler was born October 26, 1919 in Salt Lake City to James V. and Ferrol Christine Lawrence Kesler. She lived in the Northwest and Alaska for several years and was a member of the Alaska Pioneers. Her two greatest loves were animals and music.
She is survived by a brother, James V. Kesler; a niece Christina who is on a mission to Norway; and many cousins. A special thanks to friends and also, Dr. George Van Komen who took care of Lucy for 18 years.

She loved her family above all else and was an inspiration of love and kindness to all who knew her. She was an excellent cook and did beautiful hand sewing, dressmaking and oil painting. Elsie Spradlin Kesler (Grama), age 82, of Route 1, Hardy, passed away Friday. She was a member of Nineveh Union Baptist Church for 72 years and the widow of Judson H. Kesler. Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Bobby C. and Alzie Kesler, Jimmy H. and Nancy Kesler, all of Hardy; a sister, Mamie S. Morgan, Hardy; a special nephew, C. Edward Morgan; six grandchildren and spouses, Richard C. and Mala H. Kesler, Peggy K. and Alan Carr, Robert L. and Brenda L. Kesler, Linda K. and Allen D. Booth, Donald R. Robert E. (Gene) Kesler, age 79, of Roanoke, died Sunday in a local hospital. Mr. Kesler was a World War II Veteran having participated in the D-Day Invasion at Omaha Beach, Normandy June 6, 1944. He was a retired employee of the N&W Railway, a member of Raleigh Court United Methodist Church, the Elks Club and Post #64 29th Infantry Division Association. Surviving are his wife, Clarinda Frantz Kesler; sons and daughters-in-law, Robert E. and Kathy Kesler of Westminster, Md.; George G. and Kathy Kesler of Roanoke; sister, Kathryn Kesler of Roanoke; brother, W. KESLER, Vernelia M. (Nanaw), 89, of OKC and formerly the Grand Lake area, died Feb. 16, 1993 at Bethany Village, after a lentghy illness. She was born in Kingman County, Ks. on Feb. 1, 1904 to Mary (Senko) and Henry Klein. OKC was her home until her retirement in 1963 when she moved to the Grand Lake area with her husband, Mark, who predeceased her in 1974. She then returned to OKC in 1977. She was blessed with one son, Bill, who predeceased her in 1973. Survivors include Norma Kesler Lawrence of OKC, her daughter-in-"Love" (as she always called her); granddaughter, Vicki Foree and her husband, Larry of OKC; grandson, Bill (Joe) Kesler and his wife of El Paso, Tx.; granddaughter, Diane Wooden of Yukon; 10 great grandchildren, 8 great-great grandchildren and 10 great-great-great grandchildren; 3 sisters, Eulanda Walker of Edmond, Leona Glasgow and Dee Cox, both of Ca.; and many friends. She was a founding member of the 12th and Drexel Church of Christ. She was active in various flower clubs and taught china painting. She was employed by Red Rock Petro and Kesler Oil Co., where she took an active part in the business. Nanaw was an inspiration to all of her kids. She taught us all to love the outdoors, how to fish and hunt, have fun, and gave us beautiful memories and fun times at Grand Lake and the farm. She taught us the names of trees, birds, animals, flowers and all of nature's beautiful things, and most of all how to love. Nanaw was loved very much by her family and will be greatly missed by all of us. She has now gone to heaven to be with Tataw and Pop and we know sh e is happy. Ray Blackner Kesler, age 63, passed away February 25, 1993 in Beaver, Utah.
He was born March 25, 1929 in Greenville, Utah to Delmer and Hazel Blackner Kesler. He married Afton Spainhower on February 28, 1948 in Milford, Utah and their marriage was later solemnized in the St. George Temple. Ray was an active member of the LDS Church where he served in the bishopric of the Greenville Ward for 24 1/2 years, serving as bishop for 8 1/2 years of that time. He was an ordinance worker in the St. George LDS Temple. He loved his farm and was a very loving husband, father and grandfather.
He is survived by his wife, Afton, Greenville; children, Stephan A. and Vicki Kesler, Rifle, Colorado; Rebecca and Tom Bartlett, Greenville; Roger A. and Mari Kesler, Jeffrey D. and Cindy Kesler and John R. and Jan Kesler, all of Beaver; Chris L. Kesler, Greenville and James R. William B. Kesler, 70, 811 Sixth Ave. N.W., Mandan, died March 20, 1993, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Christ the King Catholic Church, Mandan, with burial in North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, rural Mandan, with military rites by Mandan Veterans of Foreign Wars. Visitation begins at 9 a.m. today at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan, where a rosary will be said at 7:30 tonight, followed by a parish vigil at 8. Mr. Kesler was born July 8, 1922, in Orrin, to William and Theresa (Zimmerman) Kesler. He was raised and educated in the Timmer area. He served in World War II and received the Bronze Star for meritorious achievement. He married Priscilla Sehn June 10, 1948, at Bismarck. He worked as a truck driver for Hawk Transport, Northern Tank Line and Cenex before his retirement in 1985. He was a member of Teamsters Local 123, Eagles, Moose, American Legion, Amvets and VFW.

Imogene Kesler Linford
Imogene Kesler Linford died December 12, 1993 at the age of 84 at her home in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was born April 11, 1909 in Salt Lake City to Alonzo Pratt and Donnette Smith Kesler, and was a granddaughter of President Joseph F. Smith. She married Leon Blood Linford on June 20, 1936 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He preceded her in death on March 12, 1957.
She was an active member of the LDS Church all of her life; a member of Daughters of Utah Pioneers, and served as a Scottish name-extraction missionary from May 17, 1981 to May 31, 1988. She was a licensed practical nurse at the LDS Hospital for 19 years (1958-1977).
She is survived by two sons and their spouses, Lawrence Leon and Erika Just Linford of Seattle, Wash.; and Rulon Kesler and Cecile Tadje Linford of Los Alamos, New Mexico; seven grandchildren and one great-grandson; brothers, Mack Smith Kesler of Salt Lake City; and Henry Smith Kesler of Westwood, California.
Funeral services will be held Monday, December 20, at 12 noon at the 21st Ward, 2nd Avenue & 'K' Street. Friends may meet with her family from 10:45-11:45 a.m. in the ward Relief Society Room. CUYAHOGA FALLS -- Carlos M. Kesler, 81, passed away Nov. 30 [1994] following a short illness.
Mr. Kesler was born in Scott, Ohio, and lived in Cuyahoga Falls since 1940, moving there from Middle Point, Ohio. He was a production worker with the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co., retiring in 1978 with 36 years of service. He was a member of the Cuyahoga Falls Baptist Church, Star Lodge 187 F&AM, an honorary member of Tubler Lodge in Minerva, Ohio, Cuyahoga Falls Chapter 225, Cuyahoga Falls Council 144, Consistory Valley of Akron, and Akron Commandery 83.
Mr. Kesler was preceded in death by brothers, Milford and Paul. KESLER, William F., 92, of Front Royal, also of Tavares, Fla., died Friday, December 2, 1994, in Florida. Jerry, as he was known by his many friends, was born in Salem June 1, 1902, the son of the late Robert Lee and Cary Louvada Kesler. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Front Royal. He was employed as a machinis t by Norfolk & Western Railway and the American Viscose Corporation. In 1938, he was transferred to the Viscose Plant in Front Royal, where he was in charge of the machine shop, blacksmith shop, and storeroom. After 43 years, he retired from the American Viscose Plant and enjoyed working on his 162 acre farm and bass fishing on the lakes in Central Florida during the winter. He was a charter member of the Masonic Unity Lodge #146 in Front Royal for 50 years and served as a member of the Waren County School Board. Jerry is survived by his wife of 75 years, Myrtle H. Kesler; and three children, Norma Jean Oakes, Front Royal, William F. Kesler Jr., Tavares, Fla. and Robert M. Kesler, MD, Norfolk; two brothers, Gilbert and Frank Kesler, reside in Salem. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Two daughters preceded him in death, Frances Wood and Louvada Sutton, who died some years ago. Olive M. Kesler, 77, of 7626 Highbridge Road, Manlius, died Friday at Crouse Irving Memorial Hospital. A native of Chaumont, she lived in Bridgeport for many years before moving to Manlius 12 years ago. Mrs. Kesler retired from General Electric in 1977 after 25 years.
Surviving are three daughters, Suzanne Vasquez-Kesler of Hilton Manors, Fla., and Karen K. Hickman and Christine K. KESLER, Larry Michael
KESLER, Larry Michael, 44, a graphic designer who was a native of Floyd County, died on August 26 at the Hospice of Washington. Mr. Kesler had lived in Washington since 1988, when he established the Washington office of Douglas Harding Group, an international design firm in Houston, Texas. He was founding partner and vice president of the firm. Prior to that he was vice president and design director of the Graphics Division of 3D/International, an international architectural and management firm based in Houston. Mr. Kesler graduated from Floyd County High School in 1969 and went on to graduate from Ferrum College, Ferrum, and the American University, Washington, D.C. He received a Master's Degree in Design from Cranbrook Academy of Art, Bloomfield Hills Michigan, and also studied at the Corcoran School of Art and the Smithsonian Institute in Washington. A member of the Society of Environmental Graphic Designers, Mr. Kesler specialized in the design of corporate identity programs, architectural signage and wayfinding systems, and exhibitions. While much of his work was for corporate clients or sites in Texas, such as the Texas Medical Center campus, he worked on projects in half a dozen states and a number of foreign countries. Overseas projects included pavilions at the World Fair in Australia, a military academy in Saudi Arabia, an urban development in Singapore, and a trade center in Malaysia. In the early 1970s, Mr. Kesler worked at the Corcoran Gallery of Art in Washington, where he assisted in the installation of some 60 museum exhibitions. While at Cranbrook he also worked on numerous museum installations. After graduating from American University, Mr. Kesler was assistant to the director of a private art gallery in Washington. After graduating from Cranbrook, he worked for the architectural firm of Swanke Hayden Connell in New York City, later moving to Houston to join the ar chitectural firm of Caudill Rowlett Scott as graphic designer. Survivors include his mother, Sadie Benn, Alexandria; father, Leo. E. Kesler, Newport News; grandparents, Evelyn Shank, Check, and Mr. and Mrs. D. Hatcher Kesler, Salem; brother, Rodney L.
