ROANOKE - Peggy Laughon Carson, 78, of Roanoke, death by her husband, Robert Daniel Carson. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Jane and Richard Britt of Franklin, Va.; a son and daughter-in-law, Dan and Sandy Carson of Richmond; five grandchildren, Ashley and Carson Britt, and Rob, Hunter, and Anne Carrington Carson; one great-grandchild, Quinn Carson. The family will receive friends at Stevens Funeral Home, Pulaski, at 9:30 a.m., Monday, May 12, with funeral services following at 11 a.m. at Stevens. The family request that, in lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Council of Community Services, 502 Campbell Avenue, Roanoke, Va. 24011. Arrangements by Stevens Funeral Home, Inc., Pulaski, Va.

MARGARET TOLLEY ALBERT
DUBLIN - Margaret Tolley Albert, 87, of Radford, Interment will follow in the West View passed away Saturday morning, May 10, 2003, at Pulaski Community Hospital. She was death by her late parents. Surviving are husband, John Bongard of Draper; sons, Brian Bongard of Salem and John C. Bongard of Spokane, Wash.; grandsons, Charles, Timothy, Ian, and Thor Bongard. The family will be having a private memorial ceremony Thursday, May 15, 2003.

RADFORD - Ruth King Stone, 85 of Radford, death by her husband, Ralph T. Stone. Survivors include a son, R. Thomas Stone, Jr. of Birmingham, AL; a daughter, Anita Marie Francis of Fletcher, NC; two sisters, Barbara Blount of Woodstock, and Pearl Kehoe of Plantation, FL; three brothers, Elbert King of Madison, NJ, and Clyde King and Cline King, both of Roanoke; 5 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 9, 2003 at 3:00 p.m. at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford with Rev. Joe Taylor officiating. passed away Saturday, May 3, 2003. He was employed at Salon FX and will be remembered with smiles and laughter. He was preceded in passed away Monday May 5, 2003 at his home. funeral service will be conducted Thursday 2 p.m. at the Valley Road International Church of Christ, Pulaski with Rev. Jim Argenbright officiating. passed away Monday, May 5, 2003 at the New River Valley Medical Center. Survivors include his mother, Christaleen V. Simpkins of Radford; five brothers, Brady, J. D., Elwood, Avery and Joe Simpkins, all of Radford; two sisters, Taxie Fagg and Julia Brightwell, both of Radford; two half-brothers, George and Lee Simpkins, both of Radford; and two half-sisters, Katherine Dalton of Roanoke, and Eva O’Dell of Hiwassee. Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 8, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. at the West Radford Church of God with Pastor Arthur Harris and Pastor Jim Walker officiating. passed away Saturday, May 3, 2003. death by her husband, Laymon Archie Dishon; one daughter, Ruby Anita Ratcliff; two sisters, Dallas Dishon, Ruby Simpkins; two brothers, Randolph Barton “Pat” Phillips and Troy Lee “Coon” Phillips. She was a member of the Dora Highway Baptist Church, Pulaski. Surviving are: her three daughters and sons-in-law, Hilda Ann Bower and Bill Bower, Pulaski, Vickie Diane Huff and Gene Huff, Pulaski, Barbara Jean Giles and Hansford Giles Draper; one son and daughter-in-law, Laymon Elwood “Woody” Dishon and Evelyn Dishon, Pulaski; eight grandchildren, Fred Sawyers, David Ratcliff, Eddie Giles and wife, Karen Giles, Lorri Arnold, Tony Giles, Lee Ayers and wife, Stacey, Michelle Huff and Samantha Huff; six great grandchildren, Lane Arnold, Amy Arnold, Marcus Giles, Curtis Giles, Bailey Ayers, and Maddison Ratcliff. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Bower Funeral Chapel, Pulaski with Rev. Johnny Howlett officiating. Cemetery, Snowville. Visitation will be Monday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Bower Funeral Chapel, 1631 Bob White Blvd., Pulaski. The family will be meeting at the home of Barbara and Hansford Giles, 4216 Old Baltimore Road, Draper, Va. Bower Funeral Chapel, Pulaski is handling the arrangements for the family.

ALLIE MARIE BOWLES MARSHALL
STOW, Ohio - Allie Marie Bowles Marshall, age 70 of Stow, Ohio and formerly of Hiwassee, Va. Born August 15, 1932 in Hiwassee, Va. she was the daughter of the late Walter Clarence Bowles and Inez Willis Taylor Bowles. She was also preceded in Cemetery, Hiwassee with Rev. Howlett officiating with died peacefully on April 28, 2003 with her family by her side. Ruth was married Dale W. Hughes, Sr. on Sept. 13, 1946 in Pulaski, Va. Ruth was a gracious southern lady who opened her heart and her home to not only her extended family but also to “adopted” family members both human and animal. She was a full time mother and housewife who dedicated her life to taking care of her family and ensuring their well-being and happiness. Ruth is survived by her four children Kim (Gary) Cullop, Nicki (Chris) Alvarez, Dale (Marilynn) Hughes and Christy (David) Lewis; her nephew Phil Hughes; and her special angel baby, granddaughter Crystal Ortega-Terrill. Her brother-in-law, Swanie; and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends also survive Ruth. Ruth was preceded in died Friday morning, May 2, 2003, in Pulaski Community Hospital. He was Entombment will follow in the Highland Memory Gardens Mausoleum, Dublin. Visiting will be Sunday evening from Stevens Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes that memorials be made to the American Heart Association, 4504 Starkey Road SW, Suite 115, Roanoke, Va. 24014. Arrangements by Stevens Funeral Home of Pulaski.

ROBERT CORNELIUS SCHRONCE
PULASKI - Robert Corneilus Schronce, 72, of Newbern Heights, born May 8, 1930 in Lincolnton, N.C. and was the son of the late Boyd Cornelius Schronce. He was a member of the Dublin United Methodist Church where he was active in the Methodist's mens activities. Surviving are mother, Edna Carpenter Schronce of Lincolnton, N.C.; wife, Elizabeth Warren Schronce of Pulaski; son and daughter-in-law, Mark R. and Sandy Schronce of Pulaski; one granddaughter, Amanda Schronce of Pulaski; and one brother, Edward Schronce of Lincolnton, N.C. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. from Stevens Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Travis officiating. Burial will follow in the Highland Memory Gardens, Dublin. Visiting will be Sunday afternoon from the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the service hour. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes that memorials be made to the Dublin United Methodist Church, 424 East Main Street, Dublin, Va. 24084. Arrangements by Stevens Funeral Home of Pulaski.

CARRIE DUNCAN BAIN
RADFORD - Carrie Duncan Bain, 89, of Radford, death by her husband, Frank Thomas Bain, and a daughter, Edith Lytton. Survivors include three sons, Romalee Bain of Christiansburg, Curtis Bain of Pulaski, and Silas Bain of Radford; three brothers, Lincoln Duncan, Hobert Duncan, and Troy Duncan, all of Radford; three sisters, Helen Dickerson, Bertha Moore and Clydie Morris, all of Radford; 16 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and six great great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Monday, May 5, 2003, at 2 p.m. at the West Radford Church of God with the Rev. Arthur Harris, Rev. Jim Walker, Rev. Mike Bond, and Rev. Pete Flinchum officiating. Cemetery in Radford. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the West Radford Church of God. Arrangements by Mullins Funeral Home in Radford.

MARIE BOWLES MARSHALL
PULASKI - Marie Bowles Marshall, 70, of Stow, Ohio, and formerly of Hiwassee, died Thursday May 1, 2003 in a Roanoke Hospital. She was a member of the Radford Wesleyan Church, and a former employee of Kenrose Manufacturing Co., and was a retired employee of Radford University. She was an avid Radford High School Sports Fan. She was preceded in Interment will follow in Highland Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to The Radford Wesleyan Church or the Radford High School Athletic Department. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m until 8 p.m. Saturday May 3 at The DeVilbiss Funeral Home, Radford.
