MEHERRIN, Dec. 9 - Rebecca Ann Walton Smith, 99, born September 12, 1905, a daughter of the late Mack and Mary Elizabeth Walton.
She is survived by a granddaughter, whom she raised as her own daughter, Evelyn Royster (Jessie) of the home;
one brother, James (Mable) Walton of Meherrin; five great - grandchildren, Jesse (Carolyn) and John (Bridget) Fitzgerald of Meherrin, Phyllis (Larry) Stokes of Farmville, Mary Artis and Marie Fitzgerald of Richmond; 18 great - great - grandchildren; 12 great - great - great - grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held 1 p.m. Saturday at New Bethel Baptist Church, Meherrin, with cemetery.
Willson Funeral Home, Keysvllle, was in charge of arrangements.

DILLWYN, Dec. 7 - Frances Thomas Moon, 79, of Dillwyn, born February 17, 1925 in Buckingham County, the daughter of the late James A. Thomas and Ida Poe Thomas. She was preceded in interment in Cedar Baptist Church died Friday, December 3, 2004 in Farmville.
She was funeral service was held Monday at 2 p.m. at Ebenezer Mennonite Church in South Boston with cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Cumberland County Rescue Squad.

DILLWYN, Dec. 7 - Caroline Davies Hardiman, 95, of Dillwyn, death by her husband, William E. "Billy" Hardiman, Jr. and a granddaughter, Jennifer Moore Pankey.
She is survived by her daughters, Peggy H. Carter of Fayetteville, NC and Caroline H. (Betsy) Pankey and her husband, W. A. (Buddy) of New Canton; four grandsons, William Bradley Carter of Fuquay - Varina, NC, Edward Barrett Carter of Fayetteville, NC, James Brandon Carter of Linden, NC and Bevan Davies Carter of Hollywood, CA; two granddaughters, Caroline Pankey Bryant and her husband, Harry of Farmville and Emlyn Carter Gendron and her husband, Ron of Hope Mills, NC; four great - granddaughters, Jennifer Ainsley Bryant, Breanne Elizabeth Bryant and Caroline Londeree Bryant of Farmville and Kellyn Wills Gendron of Hope Mills, NC.

She is survived by two daughters, Andrea Hoffman and Deborah Zukas; three grandchildren, Shannon Ellis, Shane Weiss and Anthony Spence; three great - grandchildren, Madison Ellis, Megan Ellis and Braden Spence; three sisters, Joanne White, Sue Hall and Shelda Coffey; four brothers, Robert Mullins, Charles Mullins, Roger Mullins and Carl Mullins, nieces, nephews and friends.
A memorial service will be held in the spring at Montgomery Memorial Park in London, West Virginia.

DILLWYN, Dec. 2 - John Andrew York, 50, husband of Bertha Nettleton York, Born in Waterbury, CT to the late John Marshall and Mary Dufresne York, Mr. York worked in construction for many years before retiring and spending time with his woodworking.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons, Shaun and Keegan York both of California; stepdaughters. Lisa Lomenta of Dillwyn and Kimberly Crowley of Baxter Springs, KS; sisters, Sandy York of Inverness, FL, Linda Depoli of Harwinton, CT and Kathy Hanelius of Terryville, CT and five grandchildren.
Memorial services will be private.
Arrangements are by Cremation Society of Virginia.
