Barbara Krell
Barbara Lynne Krell, 56, of Poulsbo died Jan. 1, 2000.
She was born Oct. 11, 1943, in Philadelphia to Martin and Katherine (Irrgang) Hartke. She grew up in the Washington, D.C., area. She attended parochial schools, graduating from Catholic University of America in 1965, receiving a bachelor's degree in biology.
She married Ronald Krell in 1965. The couple moved to Poulsbo in 1971.
She sang with the Contemporary Choir at St. Olaf's Catholic Church in Poulsbo for the past 20 years. She was a member of the Peninsula Wilderness Society, the Poulsbo Artist League, served as an art docent at Breidablik Elementary School, tutored with the Literacy Council of Kitsap County and had been active in the Harrison Hospital Breast Cancer Support Group for the past six years. She helped raise funds for breast cancer research through the Race for the Cure and the Relay for Life.
Survivors include her husband; three sons, Brent, Kerry and Brian, all of Seattle; two brothers, John and David, both of Philadelphia; and one grandson, Matthew of Tacoma. She was preceded in death by her parents.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Olaf's Catholic Church in Poulsbo, with a reception following at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her memory to the Puget Sound Affiliate of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, P.O. Box 85900, Seattle, WA 98145-1900.

Peter Brauer
Peter F. Brauer, 60, of Hansville died Dec. 27, 1999.
He was born March 18, 1939, in Berlin, Germany, to Fritz and Margarete Brauer.
Mr. Brauer worked eight years at Damen Howatt in Yakima, making archery bows. He then took a sales position with U S West Yellow Pages, retiring in 1992 after 25 years.
He was a member of the Issaquah and Port Townsend Elks.
Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Dagmar; two daughters, Deanna Niemer of Hansville and Teresa Brauer Donnell of North Bend; and two grandchildren, Deanna and Mitchell Matthews, both of North Bend.
A memorial service is planned for 11 a.m. at High Alpine Chapel, 255 NE Gilman Blvd. in Issaquah. Arrangements are under the direction of Poulsbo Mortuary, The Stone Chapel.
Memorial donations may be made to the Community Partnership Fund, c/o North Kitsap Fire & Rescue, P.O. Box 41, Kingston, WA 98346.

Iola Bradley
Former Port Orchard resident Iola L. "Ollie" Bradley, 82, died Jan. 1, 2000, in Des Moines.
She was born Jan. 14, 1917, in Blackfoot, Idaho, to John and Sarah (Ivey) Loy.
Prior to retirement, Bradley was an evergreen worker for Pacific Coast Evergreen.
Survivors include a son, Edward of Sandpoint, Idaho; a daughter, Patricia Carter of Burien; a sister, Devon Tarr of Medford, Ore.; and eight grandchildren, Michael Bradley of Olympia; Kathi Middlekauff of Renton; Karol Sihite of Land O' Lakes, Fla; Kristen LaFountain of Bremerton; Kelley Bradley of Seattle; Ronald Carter of Seattle; Raymond Carter of Covington; and Roselyn Tadlock of North Bend.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward, in 1970 and companion, Howard Nelson, in 1997.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel. A funeral service will follow. Interment icon will be at Sunset Lane cemetery.

Dorothea Rutherford
Dorothea E. Rutherford, 79, of Port Orchard died Jan. 2, 2000, at home.
She was born on Jan. 31, 1920, in Dallas, Texas, to William and Editha (Hamilton) Campbell.
She grew up in Chihuahua, Mexico. She is a graduate of Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, Texas.
She married Francis "Fran" Rutherford, longtime Kitsap County assessor, on March 15, 1947, in Oklahoma City.
Rutherford served in the Navy as a lieutenant in the supply corps. She was also a teacher and worked in the United States, Guam and Japan.
She is survived by her husband.
The family will have a private gathering. Arrangements are under the direction of Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.
Memorial donations may be made to the Kitsap County Humane Society.

Clarence Boschee
Clarence Boschee, 67, of Bremerton died Jan. 2, 2000, at his home.
He was born Jan. 26, 1932, in Wishek, N.D., to Adam and Bertha (Kautz) Boschee.
He grew up on a farm near Wishek and received his education there.
Mr. Boschee married Wilma (Rudolf) Boschee on Feb. 22, 1953, in Wishek.
He is an Army veteran and most recently worked as an automobile mechanic at the Thomas Lincoln-Mercury dealership in Bremerton.
Mr. Boschee was a founding member of Christ the King Lutheran Church in Bremerton.
Survivors include two sons, Bruce and Dwight, who preceded him in death; three daughters, Brenda J. Dent of Tacoma, Renae M. Herman and Karen K. Carr, both of Bremerton; four brothers, LeRoy of Bismark, N.D., Dr. Floyd of Vermillion, S.D., Reuben of Wishek, and Adam of Kindred, N.D.; two sisters, Deloris Zimmerman of Wishek and Shirley Brandt of Gardnerville, Nev.; and six grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled for 9 a.m to 6 p.m. Wednesday and 9 a.m. to noon Thursday at Lewis Funeral Chapel.
A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Tahoma National cemetery in Kent. A memorial service will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at Christ the King Lutheran Church.
Memorial donations may be made to Christ the King Lutheran Church School Building Fund, 8059 Chico Way NW, Bremerton, WA, 98312.

Gretchen Driver
Gretchen Driver, 87, of Bainbridge Island died Dec. 25, 1999, at Madison Avenue Retirement Center on Bainbridge Island.
She was born on Aug. 22, 1912, in Sumas to Benjamin and Bertha Bargewell.
She married Orvil Driver on May 18, 1940, in San Diego.
Mrs. Driver worked in the mortgage and loan industry.
Survivors include her husband of Winslow; and two sons, Michael of Japan and Christopher of San Francisco.
No services are planned.

Betty Brittell
Betty J. Brittell, 75, of Bremerton died Dec. 30, 1999, in her home.
She was born Feb. 3, 1924, in Amarillo, Texas, to Thomas P. and Georgia E. (Wilson) Spencer. She graduated from Amarillo High School in 1945, marrying Robert M. Brittell on June 21 of that year. She was a homemaker and was preceded in death by two brothers and an infant son.
Survivors include her husband; two sons, Thomas M. of Bremerton and J. Dave of Montesano; a brother, Bill Spencer of Amarillo; and two granddaughters, M. Bess Brittell and Megan E. Brittell, both of Montesano.
A funeral service will be at 2 p.m. today at Miller-Woodlawn Chapel with interment at Miller-Woodlawn Memorial Park.

John Brittner
John A. Brittner, 69, of Belfair died Dec. 30, 1999, at his home.
He was born Dec. 30, 1930, in Center, N.D., to Michael and Margaret (Hagel) Brittner. He grew up in Yakima and graduated from Yakima High School. He married Myrna Sommerfeld on Sept. 29, 1956, in Seattle.
He enlisted in the Army in 1950 and served until 1951, earning a Korean War Ribbon with a silver star and three bronze stars, a Presidents Shima-REA Distinguished Medal of Honor, and a ZIF Combat Infantry Badge.
He worked as a rigger at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for 33 years, retiring in 1991.
Mr. Brittner was a member of the American Legion Post of Port Orchard and the Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Belfair.
He is survived by his wife; two sons, Marc of Bremerton and Steven of Allyn; six sisters, Edna Chubb of Seattle, Jane Sampier of Portland, Ore., Norma Martinez of Port Orchard, Rose Burks of Selah, Monica Wood of Selah and Margaret Bitto of Marysville; and two grandchildren, Skyler and Wesley of Allyn.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home. Burial will be at Twin Firs cemetery in Belfair.
Memorial donations may be made to Progressive Supranuclear Palsy, Woodholm Medical Building, Suite 515, 1838 Greentree Rd., Bethesda, MD 21208.

Charlane Reid
Charlane C. Reid, 70, of Belfair died Dec. 19, 1999, in Bremerton.
She was born Dec. 12, 1929, in Spokane.
She is survived by five sons, Tilman Robson of Belfair, Chris of Kent, Tim and Kelly, both of Everett and Dan of Seattle; her mother, Margret Johnson of California; two sisters, Mary Clayton and Tima Martinez, both of California; and five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Michael Corey, a sister, Margret Moore, and a brother, Fred Johnson.
A private celebration of her life will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.

William Michaels
William Talmage Michaels, 86, of Bremerton died Dec. 30, 1999, at Belmont Terrace Convalescent Center in Bremerton.
He was born May 11, 1913, in Jeanette, Pa., to Thomas and Freda (Cornell) Michaels. He was raised and educated in Pennsylvania, graduating from Girard College in Philadelphia.
Mr. Michaels was an accountant, having worked in Pennsylvania and Alaska. He was employed by Reliable Trucking in Seattle for many years.
He also was an author. He had published a book of short stories and poems.
Survivors include one sister, Freda Vincent of Philadelphia; 10 grandchildren, Roland, Richard and Jerry Brooks, Shelia Abbott, Renee Strong, Teresa LeClare, Mary Shepard, David, Sherri and Charlie; and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wives, Edna and Mildred, and by a son, John.
At his request, no services are planned. Arrangements are under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel.

Robert Thompson
Robert Nickolas Thompson, 80, of Port Orchard died Dec. 29, 1999, at Harrison Hospital.
He was born March 11, 1919, in Seattle to Nickolas and Susan (Hariguchi) Thompson. He grew up in Seattle and in the Camp Union area, attending Central Kitsap schools.
Mr. Thompson served in the Army during World War II.
He had been a resident of Kitsap County for the past 60 years, having been employed as a logger.
Survivors include two sons, Robert Jr. of Bonney Lake and Charles of Port Orchard; six daughters, Katherine Thompson of Port Orchard, Candace Atchison of Union, Elizabeth Day of South Prairie, Alma Allpress of Bremerton, Esther Bonneville of Seabeck and Dixie Sherbon of Sandpoint, Ind.; his companion, Marilyn Barnes of Port Orchard; one sister, Peggy Rogers of Chandler, Ariz.; 21 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service is planned for 3 p.m. Monday at Lewis Funeral Chapel.

Helen Darragh
Helen Darragh, 89, of Bremerton died Dec. 31, 1999, at her home after a long bout with cancer.
She was born Dec. 24, 1910, in Texhoma, Texas, to John and Maude Fry. She grew up in Olympia.
She married Frank Darragh on Oct. 1, 1933, in Olympia. He preceded her in death in 1998.
Mrs. Darragh was a homemaker. She attended Sylvan Way Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, John of Bremerton and Gary of Grandview; one daughter, Joan Meisner of Roseville, Calif.; two brothers, Russell and Jerome Fry, both of Olympia; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Inurnment will take place at Miller-Woodlawn Memorial Park.
Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Kitsap County, P.O. Box 3416, Silverdale, WA 98383.
