Mackey, Eugene John
(August 19th, 1957 - February 19th, 2011)
Marshall-Eugene J. Mackey, age 53, passed away on February 19, 2011 at his home doing what he loved most cooking for others. He had planned a surprise birthday party for his mom on Sunday. He was an avid cook and would try his concoctions on anyone willing to try. Gene was born on August 19, 1957 in Kansas City MO growing up in several military cities with his father being in the Air Force and finally settling in Madison. Most recently he had been working on Web sites sales development featuring the recipes he created. Gene always had a big heart and a "live and let live" attitude that made all those that he met feel comfortable and at ease. He had a wonderful sense of humor and when he would tease you, you always knew that you were loved. He also loved to engage friends and family in conversion and was always up for a debate whether it would be politics, history, cooking or news of the day. Gene married Susan (Wapnarski) Mackey Stover and they had two children together. Later after divorcing he met his best friend and soul mate, Robin G. (Lawson Johnson) Mackey and they were married on October 23, 1993. He embraced her two children, Stacey and Justin, as his own. Many friends and family whom he deeply loved will sadly miss him. Family always came first in Gene's eyes. Eugene is survived by his wife Robin of Marshall; children Stacey (Jeremy) Knight, Justin (Jennifer) Johnson, Jennifer (James) Mair and Michael (Kena) Mackey; mother Joanne Mackey; grandchildren Sierra, Landon, MacKenzie, Dallas, Braylen and Caleb; brother John Mackey; sisters Michelle (Bradley) Klock and Sharon (David) Liddicoat; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
