Robert Bergquist
Robert M. Bergquist, 76, of Eau Claire, died Tuesday, June 5, 2001, at Luther Hospital.
He was born in Kimball, Minn., to Carl and Blanche (Burchette) Bergquist. He was a graduate of Washburn High School in Minneapolis, attended the University of Minnesota and was a graduate of the Minnesota School of Business.
Bob served in Italy during World War II in the Army Air Corps.
He is survived by his wife, Donna (Healy); a son, Lee (Leigh) of Whitefish Bay; two daughters, Mary Kay (Daniel) Sullivan of Eau Claire, and Lynn (Norman) Falch of Fall Creek; three grandchildren, Anne and Daniel Falch of Fall Creek, and Bennett Bergquist of Whitefish Bay. He is also survived by a sister, Audrey Hanson of Richfield, Minn.
Bob and Donna were married in Minneapolis in 1949, and lived in California and the Twin Cities before moving to Eau Claire in 1956. Bob spent his career in the dairy industry, and at the time of his retirement he was a sales representative for A&L Laboratories Inc. of Minneapolis.
Services will be 11 a.m. Friday, June 8, 2001, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Eau Claire. Visitation will be one hour before the service.

Lila Harmon
DURAND -- Lila F. "Sue" Harmon, 72, of Durand, died June 4, 2001, at Oakview Care Center in Durand.
Sue was the daughter of Allen and Minnie (DeLong) Maxfield. She was born November 8, 1928, in Dunn County, and grew up in rural Elmwood. She married Kenneth "Bullet" Harmon in 1946, in Eau Galle. After marriage, they lived in Eau Galle. They moved to Durand in 1979, where she remained the rest of her life. Her husband Bullet passed away September 18, 1992.
Sue is survived by three daughters, Lorraine Harmon of Baraboo, Brenda (Dennis) Smith and Roxanne (Robert) Weishapple, both of Durand; one son, Kenneth "Buzz" (Mary Sue) of Mondovi; 14 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one sister, Emma Hollingsworth of Buhl, Idaho; two sisters-in-law, Eilene Anderson of Filer, Idaho, and LaVerle "Peggy" Maxfield of Baldwin; many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by, besides her husband, her parents; one great-granddaughter, Jasmine Lorraine Harmon-Beaton; and two brothers, Clifford and Robert Maxfield.
A good woman has been called away,
She was kind and understanding,
Her hands were strong and gentle,
Her smile and laughter filled
hearts with joy,
Though she never more will
walk among us,
The memories she left behind
Will give us joy and happiness
amid the sorrows and tears.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, June 8, 2001, at Rhiel Funeral Home in Durand. Rev. Matthew J. Molinaro will officiate. Burial will be in St. Henry's Cemetery, Eau Galle.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today and one hour prior to services on Friday at the funeral home.

Walter Katz
Walter C. "Wally" Katz, 64, of 792 Bluff View Lane, Chippewa Falls, died peacefully surrounded by his family Wednesday, June 6, 2001, at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire.
He was born August 16, 1936, in Chicago, Illinois, to immigrant parents, Bertha M. (Gaiser) and Gustav Katz. He grew up in Chippewa Falls and graduated from Chippewa Falls Senior High School. In 1961, he graduated from the University of Wisconsin, Eau Claire, with a Bachelor's Degree in Science. He served in the U. S. Navy during the Korean Conflict.
Wally married Marlene Glasshof on July 11, 1959, in Chippewa Falls. He and his wife were co-owners and operators of the Falls Bowl in Chippewa Falls for ten years. He presently was employed at Spectrum Industries in Chippewa Falls.
Survivors include his wife, Marlene of Chippewa Falls; two daughters, Cheryl (Donald) Vogler of Chippewa Falls, and Tammi (Jon) Hautala of Shakopee, Minn.; a son, James (Stacy Schneider) Katz of Chippewa Falls; two grandchildren, Zoe Christine Vogler and Jacob Walter Vogler.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Herbert Katz; and two grandchildren, Elizabeth Marie Vogler and Logan James Katz.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 9, 2001, at Zion United Methodist Church, Chippewa Falls. The Rev. Fr. Robert B. Hoekstra, Chaplain from the Chippewa Manor Retirement Community, will officiate. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery, Chippewa Falls.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, Chippewa Falls, and one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church.
Wally enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, traveling, a great game of golf, and he loved to hit the Royal Flush.

Veronica Mandelholm
Veronica M. Mandelholm, 88, of Eau Claire, passed away Monday, June 4, 2001, at PALS Community Home in Eau Claire, Wis.
Veronica was born on August 1, 1912, to William and AnnMarie (Arseneux) Moore. She married Russell O. Mandelholm on December 17, 1949. She worked as a food service cook doing large quantity cooking.
Survivors include one daughter, LucyAnn (Gene) Couch of Cupertino, Calif.; niece, Sue (Garren) Hesketh of Eau Claire; and their children, Diana (John) Schaller of San Ramon, Calif., and David and Melissa Hesketh, both of Eau Claire. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Russell in June 1992; and four brothers, Bill, Nathan, Ken and Cletus Moore.
In lieu of flowers, memorials should be sent to PALS Community Home, 1616 Folsom St., Eau Claire, WI 54703.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, with Father Eugene Klink officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Eau Claire.
Fuller-Speckien Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Leo Sleeter
MILWAUKEE -- Leo H. Sleeter, 79, of Milwaukee, died Wednesday, May 9, 2001, at St. Francis Hospital.
He was born August 11, 1921, in Fairchild, where he received his education. He served in Germany, during World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Edna; a daughter, Doreen (John) Horrigan; three stepchildren, David Strupp, Dale Strupp and Dawn Meyers; a sister, Leona (Hibbard) Krumholz of Humbird; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Martha (Hovland); two brothers, Harold (LaVina) and Curtis; three sisters, Angeline (Art) Peterson, Gladys (George) Thornburg and Doris (Loren) Bilderback; and one stepson, Danny Jo Strupp.
Services for Leo H. Sleeter were Saturday, May 12, 2001, at noon at Wisconsin Memorial Park South Chapel. Interment was in Wisconsin Memorial Park, with full military rites.

Howard Stewart
MILWAUKEE -- Howard C. Stewart, 82, 8608 W. Keefe Ave., Milwaukee, passed away Tuesday, June 5, 2001, at St. Mary's Hospice Center in Milwaukee after a lengthy illness with diabetes.
He lived in Eau Claire until approximately 40 years ago and he worked at the Silhouette Inn in Lake Hallie, the Hub Bar and Wally's Swiss Chalet.
He and his wife, Eileen Elletson Stewart, were blessed with three children, Connie, Gary and Jayne, all of Milwaukee. Other survivors are grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews and many friends.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Wisconsin Memorial Park, Chapel of the Chimes, 13235 W. Capitol, Milwaukee, with visitation at 1 p.m.

Nona Stewart
Nona May Stewart, 71, of Eau Claire, died Wednesday, June 6, 2001, at The Clairemont in Eau Claire.
Nona was born May 20, 1930, in Lodi, Wisconsin to Walter and Venita (Ferdon) Gage. She married Glenn Stewart in 1964, and was a waitress in Marshfield and at Stafnes in Eau Claire.
She is survived by her three sons, Alan, Robert and Thomas; five stepchildren, Mary, James, Suzanne, Corinne and Carol; 23 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; four sisters, Jessie, Patricia, Bernadette and Linda; and three brothers, Ronald, Gerald and Randy.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn; son, Richard; stepson, Andrew; her parents; and sisters, Joan and Donna.
A memorial service for Nona will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, June 8, 2001, at Prock Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Oliver Schultz officiating. Private family interment.
There will be a gathering of family and friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Prock Funeral Home is serving the family.
